Chapter 3 First Night
Lumine's POV

After dinner, Tonia led me upstairs to show me to her room.

As we were walking through the halls…a voice suddenly called out Tonia's name.

"Tonia dear", they started. "Could you please bring our guest here? I would like to introduce myself to her."

With that, I turned my head, and saw a man looking at us from the bed he was lying on.

"Of course, Papa", Tonia replied. "This way, traveler."

With that, Tonia led me into the room where her father was.

"Greetings, traveler", he said when he saw me. "It's an honour to finally meet you. My son is constantly talking about you."

"It's an honour to meet you too, sir", I greeted.

"I apologise for not coming down to greet you earlier", Childe's father said. "I wanted to, but my blasted headache made it hard to do so."

"You have nothing to apologise for", I reassured. "Your wellbeing is what's most important."

"Thank you very much", Childe's father said, before changing the subject.. "My wife tells me that you'll be staying with us."

"I hope that's alright", I asked.

"Of course it is", Childe's father replied. "My son seems to be quite fond of you. It's an honour to have you stay with us."

"Well then", I started. "Thank you very much for letting me stay here, sir."

"You're very welcome, dear", Childe's father said. "Now then, off you two go. Goodnight."

"Goodnight, Papa", Tonia said, before grabbing onto my hand. "Lets go, traveler!"

Once Tonia was done showing me her room, she gave a nightgown that belonged to her older sister and suggested that I took a nice, long bath.

Once I was done with that, I began making my way back to the bedroom, but was stopped in the hallway.

"Hey there, girlie", Childe greeted. "You all settled in?"

"Yes", I replied. "It was very kind of your family to let me stay here."

"Well, they know how close you and I are", Childe stated.

"We're close", I asked in amusement.

"I would say so", Childe replied. "You and I are comrades, after all. And a comrade is someone you trust with your life!"

"You trust me with your life", I asked.

"Of course I do", Childe replied. "I know that you'd be there if I ever got into any trouble, and I would do the same for you."

"You would", I asked.

"Of course", Childe replied. "I've got your back, comrade."

For some reason…Childe saying this resulted in my chest feeling warm.

"Um…", I started awkwardly. "It's getting late. I should get to bed."

"Right", Childe replied.

Then, he started leaving…but then suddenly stopped before turning to look at me.

"Goodnight, girlie."

After Childe said this, I smiled at him.

"Goodnight, Childe."

Witt these words, Childe smiled at me before leaving.

After he was gone, I sighed. Then, I made my way back to Tonia's room.

When I got there, both her and Paimon were fast asleep.

I smiled at this sight. Then, I climbed into bed before drifting off to sleep as well.
