Chapter Nine- The Confrontation

-Hey guys! This chapter is the end of the first season. I hope that you liked the series so far! Now, let's begin! ^^

-Splinter stood inside of the lab, feeling worried. Donatello had come home, looking really upset, and asked him for a private talk. This has never happened before. Donatello seemed to find privacy for this specific conversation really important since they are going to have the talk in the sound-proof lab instead of the dojo like they always do. Splinter had to personally ask the brothers to let them have privacy since they were worried as well and wanted answers. They seemed against the idea of a secret conversation being kept from them after all that had happened this evening, however they had to listen to their father so they gave them privacy.

Splinter looked at Donatello as he finished locking the door and came to stand in front of him.

"Is something the matter, my son?" Splinter asked.

Donatello couldn't help but flinch when Splinter said "my son", which didn't go unnoticed.

"Donatello?" He asked again.

"Sensei… Something had happened on patrol." Donatello said nervously.

"What is it, Donatello? What made you so upset?" Splinter asked, curious and worried.

"We managed to find a building of the Foot that had low security." Donatello simply said.

"Oh? Really?" Splinter asked curiously.

"Yes, and we split up since there weren't many guards. I went to check out one of the floors…" Donatello said as he started to tremble.

"D-Donatello? What's wrong?" Splinter asked worriedly as he held Donatello's shoulders.

Donatello stepped back and out of his reach. Splinter was a little surprised by this action, but decided not to question Donatello.

"And in one of the rooms I found computers… I went to one of them and used my skills to try and find information about the Foot." Donatello said as he took a deep breath.

"And I found out that the Shredder tried to find information about our DNA…" Donatello said as he looked at his father.

He didn't like what he saw.

Although he didn't tell what he saw yet, he could already see that Splinter already knew what he was talking about. Splinter's eyes widened and his breathing became a little faster and heavier.

"You- you knew- didn't you?" Donatello asked, with a voice that delivered the message that he felt hurt, angry, sad, and many other emotions.

"Donatello…"

"I saw our DNA. My DNA." He declared.

"Donatello… I…" Splinter didn't even know where to begin.

"Do the others know already?" Donatello asked, upset.

Splinter simply shook his head negatively.

"I see…" He said quietly, a little relieved.

"How long were you going to hide this from me?" Donatello asked.

"I don't know." Splinter simply answered, feeling guilty.

"It seems like I should know if my whole life is a lie." Donatello said as he started to tremble again, trying to hold himself together.

"Donatello- It is not a lie-" Splinter started but the look of sadness and horror on Donatello's face made him stop talking.

"It feels like a lie." Donatello said quietly.

"Donatello-"

"I saw who my biological parents are as well." He said as he trembled even harder. His eyes started to fill with tears.

Splinter flinched in horror. He didn't even know what to do. He never even thought that he would have to reveal the secret so he didn't plan his actions in case he would need to tell him about his origin.

"I- I saw…" Donatello said as he hugged himself and tears started to go down his face.

"Donatello…" Splinter said as his expression turned from horror to sadness for his son.

"When were you going to tell me?" Donatello started questioning him as tears kept wettening his cheeks.

"When were you going to tell me that I was human…?" Donatello said as he clutched with force at the table that he usually uses for working on his inventions.

"Wh-when were you going to tell me about my pa-parents?" He questioned as speaking seemed to get harder and harder as he cried.

"When…"

Donatello then took a deep breath and managed to finally ask what he wanted to ask from the beginning.
