Walking onto the squad room on Monday morning, Olivia could feel that something was up. The atmosphere felt somehow charged.

Edgar was sitting there, in the chair, at her desk, as though everything was completely normal. Olivia stopped breathing as she stood there, halfway through the doorway, in shock.

Edgar glanced up at her. "Hi," he whispered a low, gravelly tone of voice that gave Olivia goosebumps.

"Olivia please"

"No," she said firmly. "No. I am not doing this again. No."

She backed away from Edgar slowly.

"Olivia?" Edgar questioned.

"No," repeated Olivia. "I am not doing this. I am not just falling back into your arms when you reappear, without a word, nearly 4 months after you broke my heart."

Olivia's voice was getting louder and louder. Edgar stood up and reached out an arm towards her but Olivia pushed him away.

"I am not that weak. I am stronger than this, than you. I don't need you anymore. I spent 16 long weeks missing you so badly that I couldn't think of anything else. I am not letting myself get that bad again. I am not letting you affect me so much again. So no."

Olivia turned around and walked straight back out of the office. She walked straight past all the people that were staring at her and out into the corridor. Not sure where else to go, she headed out to the car park and got in to her car..

She tried to prevent the tears from coming, tried to remember the good mood she had sustained for the past few days, but it wasn't enough. What was it about Edgar that made her act like this, like a lovesick teenager? And now she had given the rumour mill plenty more fodder. Why couldn't she have just acted normally? Damn Edgar.

Her phone beeped and she saw that she had a message from Sonny.

Edgar has gone to speak to his boss. The coast is clear. Could do with your help on a couple of cases.

Olivia felt overwhelming gratitude towards Sonny. That box of chocolates that she gave him last week was nothing like enough. Sighing, she wiped her eyes on a tissue and headed back to the squad room. The new plan for the day was to throw herself into her work and avoid Edgar as much as possible. She was not letting Edgar ruin her mood again.
