okay so i decided to do a summary chapter b/c my spreadsheet is outdated. Rip.Please Access Ch 50 for 1-49 summary going forward, I will most likely be doing summaries every 25 chapters from now on.
Characters:
The Guide, The Lab Director
A young man whose entire village has been destroyed by The Lunatic Cultist to fuel a mysterious summoning ritual. He is a compassionate soul, but fears his gentle nature will bar the path to his revenge. Has grown rather affectionate of The Slayer and has begun to see him as a little brother or even a son. Suffers from persistent nightmares and is mysteriously connected to the Eldritch "Wall".
The Slayer, The Monster Knight
A ruthless half-terrarian who fights with a bow a sword. (Ranger/Melee). Boasts a great number of supernatural abilities which indicate his unnatural origins. A byproduct of The Lunatic Cultist's summoning, He was at one time proud and utilitarian, but is now finding himself humbled rather dramatically. Has little relation to anyone save The Guide, whom he considers a close friend and a teacher, and perhaps a parent. Yet despite these very human sentiments, he still behaves himself in a shockingly cold manner toward almost everyone. In general, is not easily reasoned with.
The Sea King, Amidas
The King of R'lyeh: an underwater city that, after being destroyed by Calamitas, is now known as The Sunken Sea. He is one of the founding members of The Resistance with a grudge against King Yharim and the Calamitas. A worshipper of The Moon Lord, he can cast powerful Eldritch magic that can only be dispelled by the nigh extinct Dryad race. At odds with The Guide The Slayer because of The Compounds retaining power. Yearns to join The Resistance in The North to assist in the Battle against Yharim.
The Demolitionist, The Dwarf Officer
A Resistance member who was chased into The Barrier whilst fleeing The Party Girl. A loyal soldier, a planner, and an explosives expert - he has proven to be a grave threat to The Slayer and The Guide.
The Old Merchant, The Merchant
The Second 'Townsperson' to join The Compound, he is sly, tricky and not above lying. He places his own survival above all. Does not have a good reputation amongst his colleagues and could even be considered cowardly. Originally masterminded the effort against The Guide The Slayer.
The Arms Dealer, The Dealer
A powerful and resourceful fighter, The Arms Dealer is well armed and very skilled. Despite his rough background, he takes no pleasure in violence. At one time was betrayed and imprisoned by The Resistance. The Old Merchant's trickery led him to pit himself against The Slayer and The Guide in a misguided effort to 'do good'. Enamored with The Nurse.
The Nurse, The Capitol's Head Nurse
A fearsome Medical practitioner who fled from Yharim's service. She claims to despise The King, yet tolerated working for him indirectly for many years. A genius doctor, she is capable of treating nearly every sort of malady. Uses The Slayer as her personal test subject, but has since become his enemy due to her association with The Arms Dealer.
The Spy, The Party Girl, Yharim's Spy, CC #5534, The Agent
A fiercely loyal member of Yharim's elite combat troop, the "Clandestine Corps" 'CC'. After participating in the battle against The Dwarves Sacred Mountain (Resistance Loss, Stronghold was destroyed), she chased The Demolitionist until he entered the compound. Believes The Guide is a member of Draedon's research team and resolves to assist him by killing The Resistance members in The Compound. She has been enhanced to resist all types of magic.
The Traveling Merchant
A Travelling salesperson who deals in goods and information. Has struck a deal with The Guide to bring him information on The Lunatic Cultist, however it is revealed he is a Resistance sympathizer.
The Lunatic Cultist
A powerful and high ranking mage previously in Yharim's service. Defected to The Resistance and is the 'summoner' of The Hero and The Slayer. A worshipper of Cthulhu and an ally to The Sea King, Amidas. He is the object of The Guide's revenge.
The Dryad
A mysterious nature spirit, the last of her race, whose mission is to oppose The Moon Lord, his derivatives, and his servants. Currently en route to The Compound.
The Stylist
A young woman who was rescued by The Slayer in the spider caves. Comatose under The Nurse's care.
Statis & Braelor
Resistance heroes who plan to overthrow The Tyrant. They orchestrated the entire resistance movement using The Hero as their figurehead.
The Hero
A magic wielding Terrarian of tremendous strength. His equipment is far more powerful than The Slayer's. Fighting on behalf of The Resistance against Yharim's troops. (Magic/Rogue)
Summary:
Chapter 51: Victory and Defeat (Day 12, Late-Night)
The Nurse bursts out of her house upon hearing Big Betty explode. Notes that The Slayer has two limbs blown off, and when he vanishes, only his leg goes along with him. She takes custody of his severed arm and grows angry that The Arms Dealer has damaged her favorite specimen.
The Sea King ponders the nature of The Slayer as he watches him get blasted to bits through the castle window. Concludes the The Slayer is not a true Terrarian, as a real one could never be maimed like this. Comes to the conclusion that although he would be a great fighter, he's ultimately not useful and his presence ties The Sea King to The Compound. With the war well underway, Amidas makes the decision that he will 'take care' of The Slayer himself.
The Dryad wakes from hibernation after realizing EOC has been slain. She is free to continue her work to contain The Crimson. Begins to travel to The Crimson Border.
Chapter 52: Crawl, Worm! (Day 13, Very Early Morning)
The Slayer teleports via 'recall' from The Arms Dealer's line of fire to his original birthplace, the center of the summoning circle in the middle of The Guide's village. He is gravely injured and finding he is missing one arm and one leg, cannot walk, much less fight The Crimson monstrosities rapidly approaching. He briefly ponders why he might have appeared in The Guide's destroyed village before seizing his severed leg and crawling his way to shelter.
The Demolitionist, The Arms Dealer and The Old Merchant convene to discuss their next course of action. They are greatly distressed because due to The Guide's intervention, The Slayer was able to escape with his life. They know he has incredible regenerative abilities and anticipate he will shortly recover and come back to avenge himself upon them. They are now given two options. 1) Negotiate with The Guide - something The Demolitionist is unwilling to do because he believes he is Yharim's agent. 2) Kill The Slayer for good. They decide on the latter. It is revealed The Guide was knocked out by The Arms Dealer and is currently being held hostage.
Chapter 53: Parts of Me (Day 13, Early Morning)
The Party Girl has obtained permission to investigate The Compound. She reveals she is zealously obsessed with Yharim and is both violent, powerful and ruthless despite her slight frame. Is undertaking this mission in an effort to earn The King's recognition.
The Demolitionist is discussing escape plans with Amidas. Because he believes The Guide is Yharim's Lab Director, he is fearful that The Tyrant will soon come and interrogate him for information, and also kill Amidas. It is at this time that Amidas first refers to The Slayer as 'A Terrarian' (The Hero has also been advertised as such). He continues to explain that The Slayer's regeneration is incomplete, and he likely is unable to revive if killed. He continues to say The Demolitionist should not be concerned about saving 'everyone' and should only concentrate on getting Amidas to the resistance.
The Arms Dealer enters The Nurse's residence only to find The Slayer's severed arm wrecking havoc in the house after having two of its fingers chopped off. They capture the arm. The Arms Dealer recalls that anyone accompanied by The Slayer may leave the compound, and decides to see if The Arm will allow them to pass the barrier.
Chapter 54: The Judge Stands Condemned (Day 13, Early Afternoon)
The Demolitionist decides to torture The Guide for information, and in doing so divulges a great deal of general information about both the CC and The Resistance. Naturally The Guide cannot answer any question The Demolitionist poses, and as a result gets all his fingernails pulled out and a nail driven through the back of his hand.
The Slayer wakes in what used to be the town library. He had crawled his way up last night to hide, and had fallen asleep for the first time ever. A Crimera had broken in and lacking an arm, he is unable to kill it with his bow. Instead he has only a sword, which he is initially clumsy with (Class, Ranger). He recognizes his power is greatly decreased with only one arm, and that is not growing back. He - who had just last night desired to kill anyone in The Compound who was useless to him - has himself become useless to fulfill the purpose & name given to him. Decides it is imperative he find his arm as soon as possible. Finds The Guide's journal laid in the library and stores it away, unable to read it. He once again ponders his own origin, but decides it is not the time for such musings. Sets out to search for his arm amongst the swarming monsters. (+Counter Scarf)
The Sea King creates The Iron Heart, which, when used, will counter regeneration and rot away at a person's flesh.
Chapter 55: The King's Influence (Day 13, Afternoon)
The Party Girl is investigating the forest outside the barrier. She is chiefly concerned about earning promotions, and thereby leapt upon this opportunity to distinguish herself. Suspects that the spreading crimson and the presence of The Barrier are all doings of The Lunatic Cultist right before he defected. Wants to find something important to report. As she is pondering, she sees The Nurse, The Arms Dealer and The Slayer's severed arm on a leash cross out of the barrier. The Spy realizes that The Arm will allow her to pass back and forth over the barrier and resolves to steal it so she can research more thoroughly.
The Guide is given a small respite from The Demolitionist's interrogation when The Demolitionist is called out. The Sea King enters and provides The Guide with The Iron Heart - he claims it is a healing rune to use on The Slayer during dire circumstances - and two blueprints. One for summoning the Perforators and one for Brain of Cthulhu. The Guide is suspicious of him, but has no other leads. The Sea King pulls the nail out of The Guide's hand, thereby freeing him. (This tidbit actually happens right before The Sea King Leaves.)
Chapter 56: An Object of Desire (Day 13, High-Noon)
The Party Girl has poisoned The Nurse and is currently struggling in combat against The Arms Dealer. During the battle, in an effort to distract The Party Girl, The Nurse shouts aloud that The Party Girl has betrayed The King by attacking The Compound. In the heat of the moment, The Nurse claims that The Compound is really Draedon's secret base (her own identity as The Capitol's head Nurse corroborates this claim). The interruption is enough for The Arms Dealer to get the upper hand and shoot The Party Girl, who flees with The Slayer's Arm. The Nurse & The Arms Dealer are forced to return to The Compound; The Nurse needs treatment for the poison.
The Slayer has camouflaged him scent amongst The Crimson monsters by dressing himself in their remains. Although he normally hated being dirty in any capacity, the dire circumstances have driven him to the point of wearing something else's corpse. He isn't very happy about this, and becomes more and more disillusioned as he cannot find his missing arm. Wonders if The Guide will abandon him, now that he cannot fight. Begins the trek back to The Compound.
The Party Girl has obtained The Arm, and is treating her wounds. Once she is healed (she is equipped with enhanced healing) she intends to continue her investigation with violence in mind.
Chapter 57: The Savages (Day 13, Evening)
The Demolitionist had been called out from torturing The Guide and is given the news that The Party Girl is nearby. The Arms Dealer and the very ill Nurse also reveal to him that The Arm - which is in The Party Girl's possession, has allowed them to pass through The Barrier. The Demolitionist debates between facing The Slayer and drawing out the injured Party Girl in order to escape, however The Nurse reveals she had chopped two fingers off of the Slayer's arm - and that they could use them to escape. They wish to leave as soon as possible, but The Nurse needs time to purge the poison from her system. They agree to leave tomorrow morning. The Sea King, however, takes custody of The Fingers and asks The Dwarf to follow him.
The Travelling Merchant has finally arrived back to The Compound with the information The Guide requested (Recall, this is intentionally faulty. The Lunatic Cultist is no longer residing in The Dungeon). On his way, he notes how much The Crimson has spread. He encounters The Slayer in the mist, but The Slayer has yet to remove his Crimson dressings and looks quite frightful. The Travelling Merchant shoots The Slayer, and following The Guide's instruction from many weeks ago, The Slayer stabs him through the chest. (Assumed that he collected the documents)
Chapter 58: Threshold (Day 14, Early Morning)
The Demolitionist is reluctant to abandon the remaining members of The Compound and use the two fingers to escape with Amidas. He reasons that it will be alright if they wait for morning. The Sea King pretends to be understanding and agrees, yet his intention is to take the fingers and escape on his own. He is willing to sacrifice others for his cause.
The Guide, after being freed from his chair by Amidas, barricades himself inside his home and conducts preliminary first aid on himself. He wonders if he can trust Amidas, and is especially suspicious of the 'Healing Rune', but he has no other leads to destroying The Crimson. He hears a noise and, hoping it's The Slayer, looks out the window to find Amidas packed up and about to leave. Strangely, The Sea King is wearing a small mason jar about his neck (containing the fingers) and after chanting a spell, goes invisible.
Chapter 59: Flee (Day 14, Morning)
The Demolitionist wakes The Arms Dealer & The Nurse in a panic, asking them to help search for Amidas. Amidas's betrayal is discovered and the blame falls upon The Demolitionist. The group determines that it is useless to search for Amidas, as he has either already escaped - or has been killed by The Party Girl. In either case, their only option is to take The Arm from The Spy. The Nurse then elaborates that it is generally expected that all of Yharim's troops protect their superiors. The plan is to pretend The Guide is a captured high ranking officer and use him as bait to draw The Party Girl out of hiding.
At The Resistance headquarters, Braelor is given an encrypted memo sent from one of their Southeastern safehouses coded in an outdated pattern. The memo claims to be The Sea King, who has long thought to be dead, and requests an extraction. Braelor briefly wonders if this could be one of Yharim's traps and requests the codes be scrambled once more. Also send a request to Statis to prepare an extraction team.
Chapter 60: Abandon Ship (Day 14, Early Afternoon)
The Demolitionist, The Merchant and The Arms Dealer have dragged The Guide out from his home and are using him as a hostage. The Arms Dealer is in The Castle's tower with a shotgun in order to kill The Party Girl should she be drawn out of the woods. The Demolitionist holds a gun to The Guide's head and yells, loudly proclaiming The Guide is actually Draedon's lab director and The Party Girl best come and protect him. There is a rustling in the silent woods which draws gunfire. As the Arms Dealer shoots, the moment he pauses to reload, a knife comes hurling out of the woods and lodges in The Demolitionist's arm - causing him to drop his gun. At the same moment, The Guide pulls a sharpened chisel from beneath his sleeve (the same one that was driven through his hand) and stabs The Demolitionist in the gut with it. He grabs the fallen gun and flees back into his home. The Merchant likewise flees.
Chapter 61: Patriot (Day 14, Afternoon)
The Party Girl is impressed with The Guide's supposed loyalty to The King. She is willing to help him and it is revealed she was throwing stones through the canopy to draw The Arms Dealer's gunfire. She is confident in her combat prowess and resolves to kill all of the Resistance members in The Compound. She decides to first visit The Old Merchant and press him for information.
Statis and his crew arrive to extract The Sea King per his memo's request. As they travel north, the troops are saddled up with the treasure horde The Slayer had brought up from the depths.
Chapter 62: A Cowardly Life, A Cowardly Death (Day 14, Afternoon)
The Merchant is being questioned by The Party Girl. His intention is to play victim and trade information for his own freedom, however, The Party Girl is not taken by his scheme. Once The Merchant tells her who is in The Compound and where they are located, The Party Girl slits his throat and mutilates his body. She now knows where The Guide is. (THE MERCHANT IS DEAD)
Chapter 63: A Bout of Trickery (Day 14, Afternoon)
The Guide is once again barricaded in his house, and this time he has a gun with a single bullet (the gun that The Demolitonist dropped). He has never shot a gun before and is not confident in his marksmanship, especially considering the condition of his hands. He has access to The Slayer's stash of healing potions (he stored a great deal of his possessions in The Guide's bedroom) but only uses them to treat some of his injuries, opting to leave the injuries on his face, hands, exposed skin. He is concerning with appearances and is expecting The Party Girl to visit him. When she does, he begins to act as best he can in order to gain the right to exercise authority over her.
The Arms Dealer finds The Merchant's corpse and realizes that The Spy must have killed him, as The Slayer would likely just walk in through the front gate as opposed to sneaking around. He grows worried about the two powerful opponents he must face, and ponders that he is the only fighting unit still fit for combat. In the distance, he hears two gunshots and the sound of a man being bisected. (The Slayer killing The Travelling Merchant, recall that the Travelling merchant shot T twice.)
Chapter 64: The Party Girl (Day 14, Afternoon)
The Party Girl chats with The Guide, who is drawing every scrap of information he can recall from The Demolitionist's interrogation. He says that his injuries are a result of The Resistance torturing him for his comms codes, and that the reason his home is destroyed is because they have found his communication equipment. He also claims this is the reason he has no documents to support his claim as 'The Lab Director'. However, because of the evidence of torture and his clear hate of The Resistance, The Party Girl is apt to believe him. In fact, she quite likes him. She offers to let him use her comms equipment, but luckily for The Guide, it was destroyed - shot through by The Arms Dealer - during The Party Girl's initial confrontation with him. Expecting to be reprimanded, The Guide instead offers her a healing potion and the 'Healing Rune', claiming that she is now the only person he can rely on, and that she will make better use of these healing items than he. The Guide notes The Slayer's arm strapped to The Party Girl's back, but indicates he will tell her about the intricacies of the Compound later. Begins to dispense orders.
Chapter 65: A Slippery Slope (Day 14, Afternoon)
The Nurse, The Arms Dealer and The Demolitionist have rigged The Clinic with explosives and decide to hole up in The Sea King's vacated castle. Only The Nurse and The Arms Dealer are able bodied. The Demolitionist is hardy, but badly injured. He still however manages to plant bombs. They carry the comatose Stylist with them. The Nurse is terrified looking at The Merchant's corpse because to her, it is a message. That 'she will die next'.
The Guide is busy giving The Spy instructions and tips about how to go about her mission, providing her with more information than any reasonable person can process (per usual). Seeing The Slayer's body parts being divided up and traded around causes him to become irrationally angry, and he wonders why he suddenly cares so much. Realizing that he's behaving like a 'single dad' after essentially raising The Terrarian, he reprimands himself. The Party Girl brings up 'The Lunatic cultist who appeared here after defecting' and The Guide suspects that he is the 'vulture headed mage' but dares not ask, else his position as 'lab director' may be endangered.
Chapter 66: Savage Garden (Day 14, Early Evening)
The Arms Dealer, The Nurse, The Comatose Stylist and The Injured Demolitionist are all holed up in Amidas' castle, silent and hiding. They had left The lights on in The Clinic and strung the area with explosives and tripwires. Unfortunately, they only had time to wire up small charges so an explosion by itself is unlikely to kill the Party Girl. Amidas' castle is across from The Clinic and gives a decent view of it. The plan is for The Spy to get shot and blow herself up - which may actually accomplish their goal. There is a tremendous amount of smog in the compound, and the floodlights around the place are contributing to whiteout conditions - not good for shooting, as the moment The Party Girl realizes their location, she will surely come and kill them all. The Arms Dealer notices that The Spy is disarming the traps and wonders if The Guide had briefed her on their activities. She goes to enter the building and The Arms Dealer shoots her.
The Slayer has been shot by The Travelling Merchant, and in retaliation, had bisected him and collected the report on The Lunatic Cultist. He worries that The Guide will abandon him for being useless, and decides he must clean himself up the best he can before presenting himself to The Guide. Finds that the 'crimson suit' he had been wearing has rapidly grown into a parasite, drawing from him to grow eyes, teeth and organs. In a frenzy, he strips down to cut everything free, only stopping when he realizes he's trembling from blood loss. Notes that his crimson 'dressings' have found a new host in the recently murdered Travelling Merchant, but doesn't do anything about it. Hears explosions from The Compound and begins to run.
Chapter 67: The Stinking Mists (Day 14, Early Evening)
The Party Girl takes fire whilst about to enter The Clinic. She turned to identify where The Arms Dealer is (so she can go and kill them) before fleeing into the building to take shelter from the gunfire. The Guide had told her to armour up as best as she could, but still, when faced with the bombs inside the building, she is still badly injured. The building collapses upon her.
The Injured Demolitionist celebrates the success of their plan. He notes, with considerable confusion, that The Arms Dealer doesn't seem to share his joy. The Demolitionist volunteers to go and collect The Arm and kill The Party Girl if she isn't already dead. He is offered a gun, but refuses - opting to use a knife. He also resolves to kill The Guide once he finishes The Party Girl.
The Guide is frustrated that The Party Girl, despite her boasting and fearsome reputation, was taken out so quickly. He considers what to do, and resolves that the best course of action is to try and rescue The Party Girl so she can continue fighting for him. He cannot stand up against The Arms Dealer & The Demolitionist alone. He brings his gun with its single bullet and descends into the mists.
Chapter 68: Amongst the Refuse (Day 14, Evening)
The Party Girl is mortified that she had been bested so easily. She feels a great deal of shame, and notes that because her eardrums are ruptured - she has lost her sense of balance. She drags herself out from under the rubble, but when she attempts to stand - she cannot. Decides she will use the Healing rune. Although the effect is likely to be minimal because of her physiology, she reasons that it may be enough to fix her ears. The Demolitionist shows up and starts beating her. He takes the Healing Rune and mocks her before she can activate it.
An internal Imperial report is sent to all agents. Because of the many defections from Yharim's kingdom and the lack of contact with central command, The Party Girl (Unit #5534) is to be treated as either killed in action or a defector. Will be brought in for questioning as POW, otherwise orders are to collect her corpse on sight.
Chapter 69: A Place for Compassion? (Day 14, Evening)
The Demolitionist resolves to do whatever he can to break out of The Compound and return to the resistance. He regrets not agreeing to Amidas's terms and leaving with him, saying that it was correct to sacrifice others for the goal of taking down Yharim. He has The Rune and The Arm in his possession, and is about to kill The Party Girl with his knife. He is aware that there is somebody stalking him, but resolves to kill the Party Girl first, otherwise she might heal and come back to hunt him. A gunshot rings out.
The Party Girl looks back on her life mournfully, saying that although she worshipped the king, she had never reached her goal of being recognized by him. Regrets that her life has been so destructive and recalls when she had killed her own parents. Just as The Demolitionist is about cut her throat, The Guide shoots his ear off with his terrible aim. He tells her to run, and she - overwhelmed by the fact that somebody risked their life for her - draws the strength to lunge out and break 'the Healing Rune'.
Amidas is at a meeting with The Resistance when he senses his spell has been activated. He erroneously takes this as a sign that The Rune as been used on The Slayer, and The Slayer is now dead.
Chapter 70: Heart of Iron (Day 14, Late Evening)
The Dryad ponders her race's battle against The Moon Lord as she rushes to The Crimson Border. She outlines how The R'yleans (Amidas' people) were worshippers of The Dreaming God, and how they were enemies of The Dryads. She also considers the spell which is planted on The Crimson border is not imbued in the trees or the dirt, but rather in the blood of the people living there, meaning, the children would inherit the blood, and thereby the spell. In fact, the spell would grow more potent over the (pure-blooded) generations. The Dryad also considers that her siblings must already be at The Compound as the call had gone to all Dryads across the land.
The Healing Rune is broken apart and the magic is released. The Guide sees The Demolitionist quite literally fall to pieces before his eyes. The Party Girl, who is resistant to magic, suffers a great deal of pain, but is not dissolved. The Guide flees but still catches a small portion of the rotting spell. As he collapses to the ground, he is subject to another wall-induced heartattack and emits an inhuman shriek.
Chapter 71: All Alone (Day 15, Early Morning)
The Arms Dealer and The Nurse have packed all their bags when they hear The Wall's shriek. They had been listening to The Party Girl screaming in pain for well over fifteen minutes, but thought it was The Demolitionist torturing her. It wasn't until they heard the wall that they knew something was wrong. They pick everything up, leave The Comatose Stylist in Amidas' castle, and venture into the mists. They intend to pick up The Arm then make a beeline for the exit.
The Slayer has arrived, only to find The Guide laying facedown in the grass with not pulse and not breathing. He is in conflict with himself. Although he is convinced The Guide is dead, he likewise cannot accept the fact. He continues trying to wake The Guide.
Chapter 72: The Hero (Day 15, Morning)
The Resistance's Hero makes an appearance on the battlefield. He is far more powerful than The Slayer, and does not even consider humans to be a threat to him. Single handedly takes out an entire squadron of Yharim's troops in a matter of moments. Many people across the country have joined The Resistance because they believed the reports of A Terrarian - and invincible soldier - joining the ranks. It appears they hopes are not unfounded.
The Party Girl is terribly confused as to how to treat The Guide. She recognizes that he most likely is not Yharim's Lab Director and he deceived her, but he did treat her kindly and even risked his life for her. She ultimately decides to cut free from him entirely, and proclaims that she doesn't owe him anything. Takes the fallen arm from The Demolitionist's disintegrated corpse and starts towards the entrance. She only goes a few steps before The Arms Dealer presses a gun to the back of her head and takes the Arm from her. He warns her not to make a sound, else 'The Monster' will come and slaughter them all.
Chapter 73: A Taste of Freedom (Day 15, Morning)
The Arms Dealer and The Nurse apprehend The Party Girl, but refrain from shooting her for fear of attracting The Slayer's attention (they can hear him crying in the thick mist). With the arm, they are able to escape the confines of The Compound until they come to a lake, which is entirely Crimson-free. Joyful, they sink The Slayer's arm to the bottom of the lake and continue westwards.
The Slayer hears The Party Girl approaching through The Mists and raises his blade to kill her, thinking she might be the one responsible for killing The Guide.
Chapter 74: To Lick One's Wounds (Day 15, Morning)
The Party Girl, after much begging, convinces The Slayer she's here to help, and was not responsible for killing The Guide. The Party Girl notes that The Guide's body is still warm - as if alive - and finds it a bit strange, but doesn't voice her concerns. She offers to help The Slayer find his arm as a way to escape The Compound (she intends to ditch him asap). He agrees and wishes to leave immediately. When she asks for time to rest, he momentarily falls into his old habit of threatening anyone not 'useful' with death before catching himself and allowing her whatever time she needs. He picks up The Guide in order to bury him.
The Lunatic Cultist holds audience with Amidas and fills The Sea King in on all of his doings whilst Amidas was sleeping. He reveals that he wishes to repair/raise The Moon Lord - the god that Amidas' people worship. In order to do this, he has change allegiance from Yharim to The Resistance because The Resistance agree to help him (Yharim only wants to use the moon lord to grow his own power). The Resistance have given The Cultist one of Draedon's female apprentice POWs to work on mechanical replacements for the parts The Moon Lord lost during his battle with The Dryad Race - that operation is taking place in The Dungeon. During his tenure under Yharim's service, he has influenced The King to kill the most powerful Dryad, Silva, and has been systematically hunting down the remaining dryads over the past few decades. In return, The Lunatic Cultist has summoned A Terrarian to serve The Resistance, but unbeknownst to him, he also summoned The Slayer. The Sea King tells The Lunatic Cultist not to worry about his mistake, as he believes The Slayer is dead. If he is not dead, he knows that only Dryads (now extinct thanks to The Cultist's efforts) can lift the curse.
bruhhhhhh so long.
