Humphrey: "Now what do I do?" I asked myself with concern as I looked around me, I tried to climb again, but thanks to the water it was almost impossible to climb that slope, I looked around to look for an exit, but I didn't see any, at that moment I tried to calm down and analyze well the situation, the bright moss lit up just enough to make out my surroundings, "Come on, focus, there must be a way out of this" I thought, "I could wait for the water to rise enough to try to open the entrance, but it would be risky for then I wouldn't have that much time and I don't know how well I seal it" I said to myself, I thought for a few minutes before I said to myself, "There's something I'm not seeing", I took quite a while air and I submerged, once I was underwater I relaxed my whole body and concentrated to feel everything around me, shortly after I felt a slight current that made my fur move, at that moment I returned to the surface to take a breath , " If there is a current, it means that the water is leaking somewhere, possibly through an outlet" I thought as I caught my breath, once I caught my breath, I took another breath and dived in to identify where the water was coming from. current, after inspecting a wall in the background I could feel how the water seeped through several cracks in it, without hesitation I began to hit it with all my strength, little by little I saw how the cracks were getting bigger, but I couldn't stand it anymore more breathing, I tried to swim to the surface for more air, but my leg was stuck in some rocks, I tried to free myself, but I couldn't adjust myself well to do it, when I ran out of air I started hitting the wall with all my strength , hoping to break it, when I was about to lose consciousness I managed to take one last blow, which managed to finish breaking the wall, which made all the water come out there with great pressure, expelling me in the process but my leg ended up very hurt
"Looks like you figured it out," said the old wolf, seeing Humphrey on the ground in front of him coughing up water
Humphrey: "I almost died" I said between breaths
"But you're still alive" said the wolf quietly
Humphrey: I tried to get up, but I felt terrible pain when trying to support my hind leg, so I fell to the ground screaming in pain
The old wolf came over to check on him and said, "Looks like you broke your ankle"
Humphrey: "You're insane, I almost died" I said once I caught my breath
"What did you expect from the tests to become a Delta, obviously it wasn't going to be easy" said the wolf seriously, "Now follow me to your next test" the wolf indicated as he got up
Humphrey: "Do I have to do it under these conditions?" I asked while pointing to my broken ankle
"A Delta would not be stopped by an injury like that" said the wolf seriously as he continued walking
Humphrey: I sighed and with effort I got up and started to follow him while he limped, we were getting deeper and deeper into the cave
After walking for a few minutes, the wolf stopped and said "Your next test is to get out of the maze"
Humphrey: "What maze?" I asked confused as I watched the cave split into different tunnels
"From here the caves divide and connect in multiple parts, it is extremely long and complex, this cave system runs through all the mountains that surround the valley" explained the wolf
Humphrey: "You must be kidding" I said incredulously
"You better start, there isn't much food around here so you should get out before you die of starvation" said the wolf calmly
Humphrey: "One last piece of advice?" I asked
The wolf just smiled before saying, "Trust your instincts"
Humphrey: "Ok" I said sighing and started walking through the cave on the right
"Good luck" said the wolf before walking in the opposite direction
Humphrey: I walked for several hours until the tiredness and pain overcame me so I had to sit down to rest, "This is crazy, all the caves look the same" I said to myself with frustration, then an idea occurred to me , I used my claws to mark an X on one of the walls of the cave, after resting a bit I continued walking, after half an hour I noticed that I had returned to where I had placed my first X, "how long has it been walking in circles? " I asked myself exhausted as I collapsed on the floor, "Come on, think this test must have a meaning like the previous ones" I said to myself, as I hit the ground with frustration, I took a deep breath and tried to calm down, once again calm down I told myself to myself, "He told me to trust my instincts, but what instincts, I don't feel any danger or anything, all the caves look the same and everything is extremely quiet"
The next day outside the cave
"It seems that it is finally approaching" the old wolf said to himself
Humphrey: I limped over to the cave exit; it took my eyes a while to get used to daylight again
"I'm glad you made it" said the wolf happily
Humphrey: "It was much more difficult than I expected, but in the end, I managed to understand what you wanted to tell me" I said happily but exhausted
"I see, let me check your paw," said the old wolf
Humphrey: I nodded and leaned back so he could check it out
"It doesn't look good at all; you have a fracture and it's swelling" said the wolf seriously
Humphrey: "Is there anything you can do to help me?" asked
"Of course, I have to prepare some medicines and bandage your leg, but it will take several weeks to heal" the wolf said seriously
Humphrey: "I don't have several weeks; I must return to my pack as soon as possible" I said seriously
"There is nothing more I can do, I don't have any power or anything that will make you heal immediately, I can only treat your wound and let your body take care of the rest" explained the wolf
Humphrey: I sighed and said, "I'm sorry, but I can't wait that long, please treat my wound, but after that I'll be right back to my pack"
"It is not recommended, but it is your decision" said the wolf with a sigh
Humphrey: "I've been gone for too long; my pack needs me and I must return as soon as possible" I said
"I understand that" said the wolf with a sigh as he got up, "I'll go for some things and I'll be back" he said before leaving
Humphrey: I was silent for a while, reflecting on what happened in that cave, "I only managed to get out when I put everything aside" I said to myself
After several minutes the old wolf had returned
"I am going to accommodate the bones of your ankle so that they can heal well, but I warn you that it will be painful," said the wolf
Humphrey: I nodded and said "Do it"
"Bite this piece of wood, it will prevent you from getting hurt" said the wolf as he handed him a medium piece of wood
Humphrey: I nodded and bit him, while I waited for the pain
The wolf arranged the bones of Humphrey's leg, causing him to gasp and almost break the wood he was biting, after that he applied different mixtures, finishing with a bandage of leaves along with some sticks to keep his leg still, " Ready" said the wolf
Humphrey: "I expected it to be painful, but it was worse than I imagined" I told him while some tears of pain escaped me
"But you have reached a much higher level of pain tolerance, any other wolf would have passed out," said the wolf
Humphrey: "I don't know how good that is," I said, since I'd be better off if I passed out
"In a battle to the death it is a decisive point," said the wolf
Humphrey: "I guess you're right" I said nodding, then I looked at him seriously and asked, "Now finish the training?"
The wolf nodded and said, "That's right, from now on it's your responsibility to keep training and get stronger"
Humphrey: "I thank you for everything, it was a hellish training, but without a doubt I feel much stronger than before, now as Delta I will be able to protect my pack" I said gratefully
"It is better that you calm down, I did not say that you are a Delta" the wolf said quickly
Humphrey: "What do you mean? You said that I finished the training" I asked confused and somewhat annoyed
"In fact, you already finished the training, but that only allows you to be a candidate to become a Delta" explained the wolf

"You must beat the one who has the title of delta" the wolf explained seriously

Humphrey: "Why did they never tell us that in the pack?" I asked confused

Humphrey: "What is the delta supposed to do?" asked
"The Delta is not governed by any rules, he does what he thinks is best for everyone and all the packs that were founded by sigmas must support him unconditionally" explained the wolf
Humphrey: "Where were you when the sigmas attacked?" I asked seriously
The wolf looked away before saying, "He was looking at everything"

"I don't have all the details, but the last I heard is that he left the alpha elite and joined the shadow society" explained the wolf
Humphrey: I widened my eyes in surprise, "Why did you do that?" asked

"He is my younger brother, since he was born, he showed natural ability, he was a prodigy in every way, when he started the alpha school, he was already stronger and more skilled than most elite alphas and obviously he became an elite alpha in a very short age, being the youngest who has achieved it "explained the wolf
Humphrey: "I understand" I said with a nod, "Why didn't you stop him?" asked
"The master can't mess with the Delta and vice versa, it's an oath we made, besides I can't face my brother, I promised my parents that I would always take care of him" explained the wolf sadly
Humphrey: "I understand" I said nodding, "But if it is true that he joined the shadow society and was involved in the killing of the alpha elite, I will have to stop him, maybe permanently" I said seriously
"I know and I know this will sound selfish, but try not to kill him, if something brings him here, I'll take care of keeping him locked up" I asked
Humphrey: "I'll do my best, but I don't promise you anything, if he's as talented and strong as you say it won't be easy to defeat, much less if I worry about not seriously hurting him" I said
"I understand" said the wolf nodding
Humphrey: I got up and we both walked to the entrance of the mountain of the valley, at that moment the doors opened, "How does this work?" I asked curious
"I have no idea, it's old, very old, I only know that they only open when a new candidate is willing to enter and when the wolf, he is training has finished his training" explained the wolf
Humphrey: "I see" I said surprised while looking at them, "See you later" I said goodbye
"Good luck, I'm glad I was able to train the last Delta" said the wolf smiling
Humphrey: "maybe it won't be the last" I said with a small smile
"Yes, it is, there is no one left to train to be the next master and maybe it's better that way, the existence of a Delta implies many sacrifices," said the wolf
Humphrey: "Maybe you're right" I said nodding, as soon as I left the valley the doors behind me closed, "Now I have to go back to the pack" I said to myself as I started to walk, after a couple of hours of walking I had sat down to rest, "My leg does not allow me to advance as much as I would like" I said to myself with a sigh
Very close to Humphrey someone was watching him from the shadows, until he approached his blind spot to jump on him
Humphrey: "I was wondering when you would attack" I said to myself, as I prepared to receive it
With a quick movement Humphrey caught his attacker and pinned him to the ground
