"Whoa now doc you gotta slow down." Ada's crass voice flowed through the receiver. Shay stepped away and took a deep breath. She was excited beyond belief. This may be the aliens leader and she might actually get to kill it. Shay smiled widely at the thought. Still smiling, she let the breath out in a long sigh and returned to the transmitter. She spoke as calmly and slowly as she could. "The big gray bastard didn't go far." The words practically dumped out of her mouth. "He moved to the innermost part of the city." Shay heard Ada sigh on the receiver. Wait. Could robots sigh? She jotted a note down on a sticky pad. "Say it again doctor please. Slowl-" Ada stopped talking and Shay could hear some rustling and muffled chatter on the line. "Did you say you know where that alien went?" Shay slightly recoiled at a new voice. A woman's voice, with a slight Scottish accent. "Doctor please tell us where it went." The voice sounded frantic. Shay sat in silent shock for a moment. Who was this woman? She slumped a tad. Why was she with Mateo? She shook the thoughts away and straightened. "Big bad alien leader guy" she thought. That's what's important right now. She spoke slowly and calmly. "What we believe to be the extraterrestrial bastards leader has fled to the innermost part of the city. I can transmitt coordinates to you now." Shay continued as she did so "Command has already sent transport for the ground team and they are en route now." She finished transmitting and waited for a reply. It was Adas voice that came this time. "Thanks for the info doc. Seems the last two standing members of Storm Four has a grudge against our alien overlord. They're already on their way." Shay smiled at 'alien overlord.' It was always a treat to talk with Ada. "We have one recovering member still here with us. She can't be moved for the time being, shouldn't be too long before she's good to go though." Ada continued. "We recommend you follow the main force toward the city. They're gonna need your death laser." Shay felt the tingle of excitement spread through her body at the mention of 'death laser.' She closed her eyes and envisioned one of her lasers spearing through the air and slamming into the alien, searing and obliterating flesh. She opened her eyes and turned to a blank display monitor. Her glasses were slightly crooked over her wide, deep purple eyes. Combined with the maniacal smile on her face, she looked... "perfect" she thought. She smiled wider. "So umm yeah I'm assuming you're in one of your... moments." Ada Interrupted the perfect moment. "We are going to stay here with the Diver and make sure she's good. We will join the fight soon." Shay returned from her mind. She grabbed the transmitter and responded, "Sounds like a good plan baseball" Shay heard Mateo let out some air from his mouth at that. Her heart pounded faster at the sound. She continued before Ada could say anything, her voice ever so slightly shaky, "it's good to see you made it Mateo." After a short pause she quickly added, "BOTH of you. Good to see both of you made it." Her palm hit her face. "It's good to hear from you Shay.'' Ada's voice came a moment later. Then immediately Ada said in a low whisper "That was from Mateo." Shays face warmed like a furnace. "As cute as this is, I feel like I need to remind you." Ada said quickly. "Ground team, alien leader, death laser." Ada was right. It was time to introduce their leader to a sexy firecracker named Spritefall. Shay grinned. Match made in heaven. "Good luck with the Diver. We'll see you on the battlefield soon." Shay paused and added, "take care of yourself Mateo." feeling the heat rise again in her face, she shut off the transmitter and dumped herself into her chair. Her heart was beating so fast. Between her excitement to unleash death from above on some more aliens and the tingle of anxiety and happiness from the few words she shared with Mateo, Shay felt exhausted, fatigue creeping into her muscles. She hadn't slept for a long time. She closed her eyes, sleep grasping at the edges of her consciousness. Before she was able to nod off, a grin slowly crept to her face. Now was not the time for sleep. Her eyes flung open and she shot out of her chair. Now was the time to save the world.

Shay had the satellite positioned directly over the area of operations now. The ruined city almost looked normal from her display monitors. Then she zoomed in on the targeting screen. Skyscrapers tilted, and leaned on eachother, their glass windows all shattered. Some still stood but missed chunks and pieces. One stood straight, but seemed to be sheared in half, the wreckage of a teleportation ship lay close by in a pile of rubble. It must have been shot down and slammed through the skyscraper. Massive groups of vehicles lined the freeways and streets. If it wasn't for the destruction and chaos, it may have seemed like a regular day. There was no sign of people. It was a dead city. In fact, there was no sign of aliens either. Shay studied the targeting screen. After staring for a moment, she aimed at a different part of the city. She continued this for several minutes. Every moment or two she took a moment to jot down some of the random thoughts in her head. "Where did the aliens come from?" She switched the view. "How could I get more lasers per button push?" The view switched to an abandoned hospital. Ambulances were parked as makeshift barricades around the entrances. Most of them were melted or crushed. "What is Mateo's favorite soup?" A park appeared on the screen. "How long does-'' Shay slowly looked back up at the screen and stared. Around the park, everything was gone. There were no buildings, no cars or sidewalks. The roads themselves were gone. There was nothing but the park. It was immaculate. Bright green trees lined a grassy field full of colorful flowers. A small pond sat underneath a brilliant assortment of trees and shrubbery. The sidewalks, trashcans, and benches that dotted the park were all gone. It was as if humans had never touched the place, save the very squarish and straight outlines of the breathtaking area. Shay sat in silent awe for a moment. It was absolutely beautiful. She took a moment and screenshotted the image.

Shay continued searching for a few more minutes to no avail. She returned the view to where she spotted it first. It was a massive stadium with its roof gone and all but a section of its walls fallen. This was where she had spotted it. She had seen it. So where the hell was it? The first arrivals of the ground team were arriving near the city center now. Troops flooded out of armored vehicles and transport helicopters. They would probably have to scout on foot. Shay moved away from the displays, sat back, and waited for the call. She spun her chair around a few times and stopped, staring at the button. Soon she would unleash unfathomable power and death upon the ranks of the enemy once again. A small, soft chuckle escaped her lips. Very soon.
