When they arrived at her apartment build, Logan commented, "This is a really nice place."
She nodded, "Yep. The lobby reminds me of the Taft Building in New Haven."
He nodded as well, "Oh yeah, I see that. Have you been here long?"
"Weellllll, when my family discovered that I was moving to New York, my dad bought the building as an investment and I get to live here for a steal. I insist on paying rent, but its probably 1/10th of what its worth."
Logan shrugged, "I guess that explains the penthouse."
Once they arrived at her door, they stood there silently grinning like idiots. She hugged him and said, "I'm not ready to say goodnight yet. Do you want to come in for coffee or wine or scotch or water or..."
As she was going on and on, she realized he had said "Sure," about 5 words ago. "Okay." She unlocked the door, opened it and ushered him inside.
"What would you like to drink?" she asked.
"How about just ice water? I had a lot of coffee with dinner and its getting late," he said apologetically.
"Okay," she smiled and went to the kitchen. She returned with 2 glasses of water which she placed on the coffee table.
He took an obligatory sip of his water and set the glass back down. Finally, he said, "Why is this so weird? Its us. We've spent hundreds of evenings together."
She shrugged, "I don't know but it sure is weird." She kicked her shoes off and sat on the couch facing him, looking awkward.
"Okay, this is MORE weird. Come here..." He turned her around gently and pulled her so that she was laying with her head in his lap. This used to be how they would relax in New Haven. She would read and he would watch TV or read or check email or whatever.
She grabbed a throw and covered herself, "That IS better," as they basked in the silence and familiarity.
He rubbed her arm gently and asked, "Rory... can I ask you something?"
"Yes, anything."
He pursed his lips and took a breath. "Um, what do you want? I know you JUST got out of a serious relationship and I don't want to assume anything."
She had figured this conversation was coming, although she didn't know it was happening tonight. She reached for his hand to have even more of a connection with him during the conversation. "Well, I don't want to be presumptuous...
"No, Rory. BE presumptuous. I need you to tell me what you want. If you need space or want to be alone for a while, I need to know."
She sighed, "Logan, I'm... You... Ugh." She sat up and looked at him. "I can't find the words."
He tried to keep from chuckling. "Okay," he said. He took both of her hands in his. "Then I'll talk." Rory's eyes widened. "I want to date you, get to know you again. I want to see if we can repair what we broke..."
"Really? You would want...?" she faltered for words.
Logan got right to the point. "You? Yes. I want you." He stared into her eyes.
"You want ME?" she repeated.
He nodded, "I want you. I want you back."
"You want me back," she whispered.
He nodded. "I've wanted you back since the minute I walked away."
She gasped. "Logan..."
Logan took a deep breath. "I understand if we don't want the same thing..."
Rory threw her leg over his until she was straddling his lap and her arms were around his neck. He automatically pulled her against him. "We do want the same thing," she whispered before she kissed him. She practically forced his mouth open with her tongue.
They kissed for a while until they both needed air. "You want me too?" he whispered. She nodded and snuggled into his neck.
"I've missed you so much, Logan," she whispered into his ear.
He pulled her away a little so that he could look at her. "One more thing. None of that no-strings-attached crap." He smirked at her.
"What about your harem or whatever?" She grinned at him.
He kissed her neck and said gruffly. "I'm not kidding. I'm not willing to share you."
"What if you had to?" she teased him.
He shook his head no. "I'm pretty sure I can convince you to not want anyone else," he said roughly while kissing her clavicle.
"And if you couldn't? What if I want to be free?" She smirked at him.
He raised his eyebrows. "Alright..." he said calmly. "How many people do I have to share you with? Just curious."
"Hundreds... maybe thousands," she smirked at him again.
Logan gave her a wry smile. "Hmmm. Okay. If that's what you want."
She cut him off, "Logan, I care about you so much."
Logan's surprise registered on his face. "You do? Really?"
"I always have. Probably always will. And I've missed you every day." She looked into his eyes as she said it and then she grabbed him by the face and kissed him with as much feeling as she could muster.
After the kiss, he said, "I care about you too, Ace. You beautiful, funny, brilliant, wonderful person." He crushed her against him as he kissed her again. "And I've missed you so much."
Logan's cellphone buzzed in his pocket. "If you need to check that..." He shook his head no. "What if its important?"
"Ace, there is nothing that it could be that is more important than being here with you right now, okay?"
"Okay," she whispered dreamily in return.
"Hey, when do you have time that you can be off of work for a few weeks?"
"A few WEEKS?" She raised her eyebrows. "What do you have in mind?"
He wrapped one arm around her waist and rubbed her shoulder with his other hand. "Well, I owe you a trip to Asia. When can I take you?"
"You want to take me to Asia?" She asked, completely dumbfounded.
"Sure. Why not?"
"We can't just go to Asia!"
"Why not? Who's stopping us? We can do whatever we want," Logan said very seriously.
She grinned at him, "Okay."
"Okay?"
"I'll check tomorrow and see when I can take a few weeks off and we'll go to Asia."
"Wow. No pro/con list or anything?"
She smacked him on the chest, "Hey! Leave me alone. We haven't left yet!"
"Nope, not anymore." He managed to sort of roll her over so that she was laying on the couch and he was laying on top of her. She yelped in surprise at his sudden movement. "Not letting you go again." He kissed her as she tangled her fingers in his hair.
They had a lengthy makeout session until they were interrupted by a knock at the door. Rory glanced at the clock. "Its after 10. Who in the world? It must be someone I know because they let them come up..." She muttered.
They sat up and she and Logan exchanged shrugs. She got up and walked through the foyer to the front door. She glanced through the peep hole and saw Stewart standing there. She threw the door open and said, "What do you want?"
"Rory! I've been trying to reach you for a day and a half!" He walked past her into her living room where he found Logan. "What are YOU doing here?" Stewart was genuinely confused. "And where were you last night?"
"Stewart! What do you WANT? Why are you here?" She bellowed at him.
"We need to talk. We need to sort all of this out." He looked over at Logan, "Can you please excuse us? My girlfriend and I need to talk."
Logan didn't get a chance to say anything because Rory freaked out. "Oh, NO! You don't get to come here and tell anyone what to do. I'm not talking to you about anything. Actually, here." She went to an end table and opened the drawer to retriever his ring. "This saves me from having to send this to you." Stewart closed his hand around the ring with tears in his eyes. Logan stood in the corner of the living room watching with interest.
"Rory, please? Can we talk about this? She meant nothing to me!"
"Just STOP. We're done. Please leave." Rory said evenly.
"Please? Rory you're throwing away so much. I even got off work for the gala Saturday. I know how much you wanted me to go with you. We can work this out."
"Stewart, I'm not kidding. We're done. Its time for you to go. And don't come back." Stewart began to slowly retreat to the front door. "One more thing," He stopped cold and looked at her. "Tell your fucking family about this. I don't want to deal with your mother ever again."
Stewart sniffed and said, "You're making a mistake. I might not answer when you decide to call because you're come to your senses."
She opened the door for him to walk through and said, "I'll risk it." As soon as he was through the door, she shut it and locked the deadbolt. Logan watched the entire exchange with raised eyebrows as Rory then called downstairs and told them to make sure Stewart Anderson was never allowed upstairs again.
Logan asked her, "Are you okay?"
She nodded, "I'm just annoyed. And I hate that I cry when I get mad." She took him by the hand and pulled him toward the couch. "Lets get comfy again."
Logan smiled and said, "Okay. Where do you want me?" with a smirk.
She rolled her eyes, "Just lay down." Once he was laying on his back, she grabbed the remote from the coffee table then she wedged her body on her side between Logan and the back of the couch. Her cheek was on his shoulder and her hand was on his chest. She grabbed her throw blanket and covered them before she turned the TV on.
Logan casually played with her hair while she fell asleep before the end of the second commercial. He whispered, "This is becoming a habit."
