Yuya watched as Dan and Aura walked out of the school, their laughter echoing in the empty hallway. He couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy as he saw them go their separate ways. He had been friends with Dan since they were kids, but lately, Dan seemed more interested in hanging out with Aura than him.
Determined to find out what was going on, Yuya grabbed his skateboard and followed Dan. He caught up to him just as he was about to cross the street, and he waved to get his attention. Dan closed his eyes and smiled, waving back at him.
As Yuya got a little ahead of him, Dan suddenly tripped on a crack on the sidewalk. Yuya quickly stopped his skateboard and ran over to help Dan up.
'Hey, don't go falling for me so soon,' Yuya joked, extending his hand to help Dan up. Dan giggled and took his hand, thanking him.
'I'm tired, Yuya,' Dan said, making a pouty face before bursting into laughter again.
'When did you wake up?' Yuya asked as they continued skating.
'Starts with 'f' and ends with 'y',' Dan replied with a mischievous grin.
Yuya sighed, knowing that Dan had probably woken up at the crack of dawn again. 'What time was it?'
'Five thirty!' Dan exclaimed, laughing.
Yuya smiled at his friend's childishness. They continued skating for a few more minutes until Yuya noticed that Dan wasn't heading towards his house.
'Where are we going?' Yuya asked, confused.
'Park,' Dan replied, laughing.
Yuya stopped, causing Dan to stop as well. 'Dan, go home and take a nap,' he said, concerned for his friend's lack of sleep.
'Yuuyyaaa,' Dan groaned, holding onto Yuya's arm and pointing forward.
'What?' Yuya asked, worried about what else Dan might say if he stayed awake.
'Take me to the park!' Dan said, his eyes shining with excitement.
'That's not where the park is,' Yuya said, trying to steer them in the direction of his house.
Dan looked at him with confusion, but Yuya was determined to get him some rest before he said anything else that he might regret. 'The park is this way,' he said, dragging Dan in the direction of his house.
Skating with Dan holding onto his arm was proving to be a challenge, and Yuya had to pick up his skateboard at one point and walk with him. Finally, they arrived at Dan's house, and Yuya made sure that he locked the door before skating off to his own house.
As he skated home, Yuya couldn't help but worry about his friend. He knew that Dan had been struggling with his grades and his parents' expectations, and he wondered if that was the reason for his strange behavior lately.
At home, Yuya rolled his eyes as his friends continued to tease him about his supposed escapade with Dan. It was all just a misunderstanding, but he couldn't seem to shake off the teasing. He was relieved when the game of bedwars ended and his friends finally hung up the call.
He sighed and fell back onto his bed, grateful for the peace and quiet. But just as he was about to drift off to sleep, his phone buzzed with a new notification. It was a text from Dan.
'Hey, sorry about lunch. I was just really tired and didn't want to explain everything in front of everyone. Can we talk?'
Yuya sighed again, this time out of frustration. He didn't want to talk about it anymore, but he knew he couldn't ignore Dan. They had been friends since childhood and he couldn't let this misunderstanding ruin their friendship.
He replied back, 'Sure, come over to my house.'
A few minutes later, Yuya heard a knock on his door. He opened it to find Dan standing there with a sheepish expression on his face.
'Hey,' Dan said, rubbing the back of his neck. 'Thanks for letting me come over.'
Yuya shrugged, 'No problem. Come on in.'
They both sat down on Yuya's bed, facing each other. Dan took a deep breath before starting to explain everything.
'I've been having trouble sleeping lately and last night was particularly bad. I only got three hours of sleep and I was exhausted all day. During lunch, I was so out of it that I couldn't even form coherent sentences. I guess I must have said something that made it sound like we did something...intimate.'
Yuya's face turned red with embarrassment as he remembered the teasing from his friends. But he could also understand where Dan was coming from.
'I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make it seem like that,' Dan continued. 'I just needed some help getting home and you were there for me, like always.'
Yuya smiled, feeling relieved that there was no hidden meaning behind Dan's words. 'It's okay, I understand. I should have just clarified things with our friends instead of letting them run wild with their imaginations.'
Dan chuckled, 'Yeah, they can be a handful sometimes. But I'm glad we cleared things up. I don't want anything to come between our friendship.'
Yuya nodded, 'Me too. And hey, next time you need help getting home, just ask. You don't have to make up a story about us hooking up.'
They both laughed and the tension between them dissipated. They spent the rest of the afternoon hanging out and catching up, just like old times.
As the sun began to set, Dan got up to leave. 'Thanks again, Yuya. I owe you one.'
Yuya waved him off, 'No need to thank me. That's what friends are for.'
And with a smile, Dan left, leaving Yuya feeling grateful for their strong friendship and thankful that his house was only a few streets away from the school.
Yuya rolled his eyes as his friends continued to question him about Dan's tired legs. He had been dreading this conversation since the moment Dan had mentioned his sore muscles. Yuya knew he should have been more careful, but he couldn't resist the thrill of skating with his best friend.
Ever since they were kids, Yuya and Dan had been inseparable. They shared a passion for skating and spent every spare moment exploring the city on their boards. It was a rush, a feeling of freedom that they couldn't find anywhere else.
So when Dan had suggested they try out a new skate park on the other side of town, Yuya had eagerly agreed. They spent the whole afternoon there, pushing each other to try new tricks and perfect old ones. And as the sun began to set, they decided to ride their boards back home.
That's when things took a turn. Dan had been riding his skateboard for hours, but he showed no signs of slowing down. Yuya, on the other hand, could feel his legs starting to ache. He knew he should have taken a break, but he didn't want to let Dan down.
But now, as his friends prodded him with questions, Yuya couldn't hide the truth any longer.
'I didn't have sex with Dan,' he blurted out, feeling a flush of embarrassment creeping up his neck. 'I'm not even gay, Zuzu, you know I've dated girls before.'
'Well, you could also be bi,' Julie chimed in, ever the voice of reason.
Yuya shook his head, frustration building inside of him. 'I'm not gay, I'm not bi, I didn't have sex with Dan,' he repeated, his voice rising.
'Then why did his legs hurt?' Tate asked, his brow furrowed in confusion.
'Tate, I told you not to say anything!' Shun yelled, his face turning red with frustration.
'Oh, I'm sorry,' Tate said, his voice filled with regret.
Yuya sighed and slammed his head on his desk. He couldn't believe that Tate had opened his big mouth again. They were supposed to keep quiet about their secret plan, but Tate just couldn't resist the urge to blab.
'Oof, that sounded like it hurt,' Frederick said, trying to lighten the mood.
Yuya groaned in response. He wished he could just pass out and wake up to realize that the whole day was just a nightmare. But unfortunately, this was their reality.
'Weren't Runo and Marucho supposed to be watching you guys?' Gong asked, looking confused.
'Yeah, but then they were like 'mememememe, you're cute Marucho, oh you too',' Shun said, imitating their friends' flirtatious voices.
'I'm pretty sure they were flirting,' Tate chimed in, causing Yuya to roll his eyes.
'They were definitely flirting. They had to be. Right?' Frederick asked, looking between the three of them.
The three of them started arguing about whether or not Runo and Marucho were actually flirting, but Yuya took this opportunity to slip away. He turned off his computer and collapsed onto his bed, exhausted from the long day.
He reached for his phone and decided to text Dan, hoping that he would still be awake. To his relief, Dan replied back almost immediately with an apology.
Yuya thought that maybe this meant Dan had finally gotten some rest and was back in his right mind. He decided to take a chance and call him. Dan picked up the FaceTime request and Yuya could immediately see how red his face was.
'Oh my god, I am so sorry, Yuya. I don't know what I was saying, I should have just slept-' Dan started to freak out, but Yuya quickly interrupted him before he could spiral into a panic attack.
'It's fine, Dan. I cleared it up with the others,' Yuya reassured him.
Dan let out a sigh of relief, his face relaxing. Yuya couldn't help but smile at how cute he looked, even in his state of flustered embarrassment.
'Thanks for understanding, Yuya. I promise, I won't let my lack of sleep affect me like that again,' Dan said, looking sincere.
Yuya couldn't stay mad at him for long. He knew that Dan was always trying his best, even when he made mistakes like this. He just hoped that their secret plan wouldn't be ruined because of Tate's slip-up.
'Let's just forget about it and focus on our next move,' Yuya said, trying to change the subject.
Dan nodded in agreement and they spent the next hour strategizing and discussing their plan. As they talked, Yuya couldn't help but feel grateful to have Dan by his side, even if he did occasionally mess up.
But they were both hesitant to take their relationship to the next level. Yuya was afraid of ruining their friendship, and Dan was still dealing with the aftermath of a past relationship. So they remained just friends, even though they both secretly wanted more.
One night, they decided to have a sleepover at Yuya's apartment. They were both exhausted from a long day of hanging out and playing games, and they fell asleep on the couch. But in the middle of the night, Dan woke up to find himself on Yuya's bed, wearing Yuya's shirt.
'How did I even get your shirt?' Dan asked, confused. Yuya closed his eyes and put his face in his hands.
'You wouldn't let me leave with it,' Yuya said with a chuckle.
Dan groaned. He acted like he was drunk when he was tired and he absolutely hated it. It had never gotten him in this deep since he was usually in bed before it had gotten too far.
'Did I do anything else?' He asked, not really wanting to hear the answer.
'Well, I had to carry you up the stairs to your bed and when we got there, you begged for me to go to sleep. That's when I gave you my shirt and you fell asleep with it,' Yuya explained.
Dan's face turned red with embarrassment. He put his phone down so that Yuya couldn't see him.
'I'm so sorry,' Dan said, feeling mortified.
Yuya laughed to ease the tension a little. 'It's fine. It was nice to know you put so much trust in me,' he said with a smile.
Dan couldn't help but smile back. 'And it looks like I was right to trust you,' he said, feeling grateful for Yuya's friendship.
The heat slowly left his face as he calmed down. He had a normal conversation with Yuya and even met his cat, Patches, who crawled up on Yuya during the call. They talked until Dan fell asleep and Yuya ended the call. It was twelve in the morning. This would be one of the nights where he would get seven hours of sleep.
He smiled as he quickly fell asleep, thinking of everything that had happened the last two days. Ever since Dan came into his life, it had been nothing but good days. Of course, he had always had good days before this, but something happened when he met Dan.
He was excited for the next time he would be able to see him.
The next day, Dan and Yuya met up at the coffee shop where they first met. They talked and laughed, and Yuya couldn't help but feel butterflies in his stomach every time Dan smiled at him.
As they were leaving, Dan took Yuya's hand and said, 'I know we've been friends for a while, but I can't keep pretending that I don't have feelings for you. I want to be more than just friends, if you'll have me.'
Yuya's heart skipped a beat as he looked into Dan's eyes. 'Of course I'll have you,' he said with a smile.
And from that day on, they were more than just friends. They were in love. They spent every moment they could together, and their friendship only grew stronger.
As they cuddled on the couch watching anime, Yuya couldn't help but think back to the night Dan fell asleep with his shirt on. It was a silly and embarrassing moment, but it was also the moment that brought them closer together.
He smiled to himself, knowing that he would never trade that moment for anything. It was just another memory to add to their growing collection of happy moments together. And as they continued to make new memories, Yuya knew that he had found someone truly special in Dan.
