If you find any plot holes in this fanfic, feel free to point them out.
4 months have pass since the tragedy. They were now living in a cave. Ruby hated the spiders and other insects. Glint hated the cold. Flaming Pie hated the bad atmosphere. They got by on scraps and leftovers that they would find in the wild. They couldn't do any hunting except Chase. And he could only catch mice and old animals.
They were currently discussing their situation. Glint sighed. "We can't keep living like this". Bleu joined in. "I agree. I used to steal; I mean get ten meals a day. Now I'm lucky if I get one. If we don't find more soon, I'm going to starve. And then I'll die and then I'll be a ghost who's starving".
Burns sighed. "It was daddy who got us a'r gems, who hunted for us. We don't know where to look". Ruby nodded. "I know we need shelter, but this place is so cold, I'm surprised it hadn't killed us".
Glint saw her point. "This place is useful in some ways. It's small enough to keep our big predators. But since we got here, me and Flaming, each got a cold twice".
"Don't forget Bleu is terrible at flying". Bleu was insulted by what Flaming said. I AM NOT! I simply have trouble keeping in the air due to my weight. And I've been the eyes in the sky for so long". Chase huffed. "We didn't get ours wings yet".
"Could you get them soon. Give me a break". Burns snorted. "We're sorry for your inconvenience, we'll order our bodies to grow' em tomorrow". Flaming got between the 2. "Please don't fight you two".
Chase sighed. "We moved from cave to cave and even slept outside for a bit". Glint nodded. "We spend one last night here, then we find a new home".
Flaming agreed. "I won't miss this place". They slept huddled together for warmth as it was the only way they could keep themselves from freezing.
As morning came, they took one final look at the castle before continuing on. As suggested, Bleu kept watch through the sky. It was sunny, but they all felt so miserable, if the weather reacted to their emotions, it would be pouring rain.
They had no trouble with any danger so far. But they were no yet able to find any food. None of them said anything either. Apart from Bleu and that only so he could update them on what he saw. And so far, there was nothing interesting to report.
It was Ruby who finally broke the silence. "We've been walking for so long and have not yet found anything of interest".
Glint sighed. "We can't find any gems and there has been no sign of anything small enough for Chase to catch, unless you want to eat grass, we have no other choice".
Ruby though she'd give it a try and she did, only to spit it out. Chase looked at her, confused. "What was the whole point of that"?
"We're part pony".
Burns sighed. "If only we knew where ar moms were".
"I have an idea, how about we find them, so they can take care of us".
Glint looked unamused at Flaming's suggestion. "We have no idea where they are".
Ruby didn't mind the situation. "I don't miss waking up with spiders crawling on me".
Chase rolled his eyes. "We all woke up with spiders crawling on us".
Ruby glared. "As I recall, you ate yours and Flaming would have kept one of them as a pet had I not vetoed the proposal".
Elsewhere in the forest was an evil wizard. His skin green and his hair dark grey. Wearing a purple robe, it was Beezen himself.
The 6 were continuing with food, Bleu stopped flying and was now lying on the ground groaning, being the only one to do so. Although they were starving, he made it seem like they went 2 weeks without a meal, at least the way he complained.
"If you six are starving then perhaps I can be of assistance. Now please don't run away when you see me". They all saw the source.
Ruby was mortified. "It's hideous looking"? Flaming nudged ger sister. "Ruby! That's not nice"!
It was Glint who asked. "Who are you"?
"Forgive my bad manners, my name is Walder, I was out for a stroll when I found you six. Surely you aren't alone, is your father around"?
Their heads turned to the ground. It was Burns who answered. "We don't have a dad anymore".
He gave a look of sympathy, it was fake, but they bought it. "My deepest apologies, I didn't know".
Blue nodded. "It's alright, although I am really hungry".
Burns sighed. "Sorry about that, he's bad enough when he misses his meal, not eating all day makes that brother of mine worse".
"If it's food you want, I can provide you with that, simply follow me".
"Thank you but we have to decline".
Bleu quickly gave another answer. "No, we don't".
The 6 huddled up together.
"What are you doing".
Glint quickly replied to Bleu. "He's a stranger, we can't just follow him around.
"But he's offering to feed us".
Chase shook his head. "For once, think using your head instead of your stomach Bleu".
Flaming pouted. "But he seems so nice".
Ruby nodded. "If we turn this down, we mightn't come across anyone else, willing to feed us".
Chase had his reply, already ready. "This could be an act, he might lead us to his house, then he cooks us, then he eats us. And weren't you insulting his looks just a second ago".
She shrugged. "I'm hungry.
Flaming was quick to point out. "He could have easily eaten us now and he didn't"
Glint decided to use his ace. "We can't blindly trust anyone. Remember the wedding"?
Bleu groaned. "Yeah, yeah, Twilight was suspicious of Candence and it turned out to be true. So, what? From the way the story was told, she was right about the danger, but wrong about the reason. She thought Candence herself was evil and was unaware that it someone else pretending to be her. Why are you bothering to bring this up"?
Flaming was confused. "Are you worried the same will happen to you. We all made a pact that we will trust each other if one of us thinks the groom or bride is evil".
"I'm bringing this up to make you remember, if any of us are suspicious of someone, we said we would trust each other".
Burns spoke next. "He ain't a bride or groom".
Flame decided there was only one way to make a decision. "Let's vote. All for". Her along with Ruby, Bleu and Burns voted in favor. "All against". Only Glint and Chase opposed it.
Bleu walked towards Walder. "We gladly accept your offer".
"Brilliant. Follow me".
They followed him as he led them to what appeared to be a manor. Ruby found it quite lovely. Once inside, he took them to his dinner table. He served them like they were royalty. He gave them rabbit for dinner and they finished with gem ice cream for dessert. By the end Bleu was even chubbier
Chase sighed. "I hate to admit it but that was delicious".
Glint nodded. "Thank you for the food". Unlike Chase, Glint wasn't totally convinced.
"I'm glad I could help you all. Now sorry to impose but where are your mothers, if you don't have a father, they will surely be looking for you".
Bleu sighed. "We don't know them. We know nothing about them".
He gave a fake look of pity. "I'm sorry to hear that. So, you no absolutely nothing about them".
Burns sighed. "Not much ta tell. He would only tell us certain stuff, there and there".
Bleu spoke up. "He said they were ponies. I wonder what it was like"?
"I can show you if you want".
That quickly got their attention. "Really".
"Of course, using my power, I can show you visons of their past with my orb, although it will be random".
Glint continued to be suspicious. "Really".
He nodded. "Are you sure this is what you want".
Glint remained still, but the other 5 looked excited, including Chase, who was partly embarrassed by his pony roots.
Flaming on the other claw was excited.
Walder gave his order. "My orb, show me visons of the of their father in his youth".
Suddenly, the room changed and slowly replacing it was a place full of snow.
Flaming looked excited. Glint unsure. "Where did you take us".
"Look". Chase was pointing at a small dragon lying on a block of ice. It melted, and he fell in. They watched until it melted. As he was fell into the cold water, ponies laughed at him, while the young dragon after a few minutes of struggling to not drown, made his way to the shore. He began sneezing and shivering, wrapping his arms to try warming himself, while other ponies continued laughing at him. Flaming was frowning at what she saw. "That's not funny".
Walder acted surprised. "That must be your father when he was quite a small dragon, the ponies certainly have a dark sense of humor".
The saw other memories like Spike being used as a dummy for a competition between a blue pegasi and orange earth pony. Him flying on a an alicorn, only to teleport when about to crash letting him crash into the window.
"Sorry, why are they showing us these memories".
"Is it possible your power is malfunctioning".
Walder shook his head at Chase. "I highly doubt it".
Ruby was unpleasantly surprised. "Why is it showing us this, what about the Dragon Migration? Why not show us that".
"The orb is choosing random visions".
Next it showed a young Spike talking to the 6 ponies.
"Spike, me and the girls will be in the Crystal Empire for 3 days".
Spike looked surprised. "What for"?
It was the white unicorn who spoke. "Twilight's brother and Candence have invited us for a big celebration".
Spike looked surprised. "They did"?
Twilight nodded. "Yeah, and they said I could bring Owlicious along".
"Did they say if you could bring anyone else"?
"They did".
Spike began smiling.
"They said I could also bring Starlight".
Spike looked sad. They paid him no mind, turning to each other.
The pink mare with the curly mane spoke. "They said we could bring our pets too".
The cyan Pegasus spoke. "Don't forget, they also said the Cutie Mark Crusaders were invited
"Enough orb"!
They were back in the room. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have shown you that".
Ruby looked like she was going to sob. "How could they have been so cruel to him"?
Glint shook his head. "That does not sound like the ones, our father told us about".
Walder sighed. "The orb doesn't make up tales. I'm sorry you had to see that".
Glint suddenly had an idea. "Can your orb show us where our mothers are".
Walder once again sighed. "I don't think that's a good idea".
Glint was suspicious. "Why not"?
He needed a lie and he was quick on the spot. "Seeing how neglectful those ponies were behaving, I'm not sure you'd be safe with them".
Flaming felt sad. "They wouldn't be that bad… right"?
Walder frowned. "I don't know".
Chase looked bitter. "Our father probably only made up those stories to spare our feelings".
Ruby also made up her mind. "We need to find a home and it can't be with them".
"You all can stay here if you want to".
That surprised the 6 of them. Glint was the most unsure.
"Don't make a decision yet, wait a while before making a final choice".
Later on, in one of the rooms, the dragons were discussing what to do. Unknown to them, Breezen was watching through his orb.
"Are we really going to trust this guy"?
The other 5 groaned annoyed. Burns broke the silence. "If yar fully convinced, he's evil then we will go. But are ya fully convinced"?
Glint looked away. "I don't know".
"He might not be a looker, but he certainly is kind, if we turn down this offer, who knows when we will somewhere else". Glint knew Ruby had a point.
Chase walked towards Glint. "What will it be"?
Glint sighed and nodded. They would live with Walder.
Author's note
You probably figured this out, but Beezen will be called Walder as long as they think that's his real name.
