Hopeful Days I – New Life
There I stood, with my head bowed down in front of my future classmates.
I couldn't see their faces, but I could feel their gazes. Some probably thinking 'who is this guy?', others keeping their indifference and there even some who had longing gazes for someone they knew before.
Still, that was the moment where my life truly turned and my time as the Ultimate Lucky Student, began.
"Oh, I see you're already awake, Naegi Makoto-kun." Says a man with black hair. His attire of a black business shirt being fitting of his status at the academy.
The Mysterious Principal of Hope's Peak Academy – Jin
No matter how much Makoto searched online, there are almost no information on this man's past, qualifications of even when he became the principal of the academy.
Fitting that such a mysterious man would be in charge of a academy which was just as secretive with its curriculum.
"Sorry for getting late." The brunette apologizes again, still bowing his head.
Jin smiles and shakes his hand. "Do not worry, we know that the situation was out of your control." As the principal finishes, some of the students can be heard giggling in the crowd. "Please take your seat."
Makoto lifts his head and nods. "Yes sir." Letting go of the nurse's hand, he turns to face her. "Thank you for taking care of me!" He smiles and the girl blushes.
"O-Oh, u-uh, I-I-" Mikan struggles to find words. She wasn't used to hearing people thank her. "-I-I'm sorry!" She says in a low tone, then turns around and makes her way towards the class 77's seats.
The brunette blinks, still not sure of how to interpret what this girl said, but he didn't have the time to think about it now.
Makoto takes a deep breath and starts heading towards the only empty seat at the far corner of where he fellow classmates are sitting.
Class 78-A
His class.
Gulping down, the boy slowly makes his way towards his seat.
Just as he was passing, someone on one of those seats is intently watching him. 'I-Is this a dream?' Maizono Sayaka asks herself. While she kept her poker face on the outside, inside she was screaming in excited enthusiasm. 'It's really him!' Makoto just happens to look at her direction, and for the short seconds their gazes crossed, her poker face completely disappeared and was replaced with a kind smile.
Blinking quickly Makoto smiles back, before turning away and finally sitting down at his seat.
There was him, the boy that indirectly inspired her to keep pursuing her dream, sitting down just two seats ahead.
Sayaka would be lying if she said that she was expecting this. In truth, she never really thought that she was going to meet with the boy ever again, but the fact the he was there, sitting just two rolls in front of her.
Maybe fate really was a thing.
Chiaki was lost in thought. So lost in fact, that she barely noticed the Ultimate Nurse hurriedly walking past her and sitting down while blushing up a storm.
No, the mauve-haired girl was just too distracted with how she was feeling to pay attention to her surroundings or to the principals boring speech.
Saying that the girl was happy was a understatement.
Her best friends was back!
Chiaki wanted nothing more than just get up and go right to him, to speak to him again, play with him and just catch up overall.
The two hadn't spoken since she went away, not because they had a fight mind you. It was a decision the two made together, for Chiaki to focus on her studies and life at Hope's Peak.
And that helped a lot, Chiaki made lots of connections this past year. Her classmates, Yukizome-sensei, Hinata.
Those are all great friends she's made.
Which is why she was also scared to talk with Makoto.
What would their relationship be now?
Will they still be best friends? Acquaintances?
And that is without taking into consideration the kiss. Chiaki didn't knew what came onto her that night, but the moment just felt right and she didn't regret it.
But what effect would that have in how he saw her?
"Nanami-san?" Someone calls the mauve-haired girl, taking her out of her troubled thoughts.
"Y-Yes, Shingetsu-kun?" She replies looking at her classmate, a pale boy with light blue hair.
"Something on your mind?" He asks and the girl weakly shakes her head. "Good, because as our class representative, you're in charge of the speech for the freshmen." His tone seems harsh, but Chiaki knew that he was just worried for her.
"Don't worry about it." The game smiles softly. "It'll be fine… I think?" She says, more to herself than for him.
Whatever fears or doubts she had with Makoto, it would have to wait, at least for a little bit.
Sitting down at his seat, Makoto sighs in relief. At least he wasn't that much late.
"Psst!" Someone whispers behind. "Quite the entrance that you did there!"
Turning his head slightly back, Makoto sees who was talking to him.
The Ultimate Baseball Star – Kuwata Leon
Makoto had done some research on the boy that was talking to him.
Kuwata Leon was one of the most prominent figures in the world of Japanese sports. According to some articles that Makoto found, he had already been scouted by multiple prominent baseball teams all around the world, and that was even before he finished middle-school. Although his fame and reputation, the baseball star had disappeared from the public view three months ago. Nobody knew why he did it, but in a statement by his coach, it was to solve some 'family issues'.
That is to say, the guy talking to Makoto was the definition of a celebrity, even though he was a lot different from the pictures the brunette had seen of him.
Spiked dyed orange hair, a goatee tied into a small ponytail, multiple piercings and pale blue eyes.
"Oh, yeah." Makoto replies, smiling timidly. "Not really my intention to get in late, though."
The redhead chuckles and leans forward. "I can see that."
Makoto laughs falsely and smiles back at the boy. "I'm Naegi Makoto, by the way."
Going back to his chair, the redhead gives the other boy a thumbs up. "Kuwata Leon."
Nodding, the brunette turns back and tries to pay attention to the principal's speech.
After Jin stepped down, Chiaki made her way up the podium.
Makoto's heart skipped a beat at that moment.
Standing there, ready to give a speech to the freshmen is Makoto's best friend.
The Ultimate Gamer – Nanami Chiaki
In just a short year, Chiaki went from the cutest girl Makoto ever saw, to someone that he truly could only describe as beautiful.
Her mauve hair was slightly longer than before, her body had blossomed into that of a beautiful young lady and even more importantly than that.
She had the brightest smile someone could have.
Makoto had no doubt that she had become friends with her class, all because of that beautiful smile of hers.
"Ahem!" She falsely coughs at the microphone, getting everyone's attention. "Hello, some of you already know me, but to those that don't." She smiles and does a cute bow. "I'm Nanami Chiaki, class representative of 77-B." Lifting her head, she continues. "It is our job as senpais to make sure that our kohais can have a great academic experience and that together we may help each other to understand and appreciate all talents." She continues her speech with a hopeful tone in her voice.
Just at the class 77-B seats, a girl with cloudy white hair snorts. "Oh, sweet little Nanami-san." She whispers to herself. "Not all talents need to be understood or appreciated." Crossing her arms, she giggles creepily to herself.
Back at Chiaki. "-With that, I hope from the bottom of my heart, that we can have a great school year together." She finishes and the students clap their hands.
"Thank you, Nanami-kun." Jin says as he approaches the girl and she handles him the microphone. "Now, all freshmen students are to go back to their classrooms, after your homeroom teachers explain your curriculum, you're free for the rest of the week to explore the campus and get yourselves familiarized to the academy life." The principal explains. "For the second and third years, just keep on working at your projects." He bows and smiles softly. "You're all dismissed!"
Soon, the gym was completely empty, except for the staff members.
"And now, we can finally start the school year." Jin says, turning to the other members of the staff.
"Heh, I love the feeling of beginning the year." Yukizome comments with a smile on her face. "I missed my little rotten oranges so much!"
Sitting down by her side, Munakata sighs. "I still don't believe that they need a entire week to get used to Hope's Peak." Crossing his arms, the man continues. "I can already tell that this Naegi Makoto is going to be quite the handful."
Yukizome chuckles. "Trust me, if he is anything little Nagito-chan, the you're in for a lot of headaches." The redhead giggles as the man groans.
Jin just sighs, he knew very well just how chaotic lucky students could get.
Still, the principal had a good feeling about this year, even with all the external troubles that the school was going through.
Let's hope that this will be a good year.
