Ugh, vision without glasses is not the greatest thing when you're writing. I've got to consider contact lenses. They may be more expensive and irritate my eyes more, but I could care less. Anyway, episode four, Deal with a Nighlok. Surprisingly I think this is definitely a Mia and Kevin centered episode, though more towards Kevin's role in the team. I'll try to show different viewpoints like I did with the last chapter. Maybe it'll help a bit. Here we go! (drags the Disclaimers in)
Disclaimers: I don't own Power Rangers, as it is a product of Hasbro as of May 1st, 2018.
(Bekah's POV)
Another day with the team meant another day of training, Mike working on his symbol power and Mia and I sparring as Kevin and Emily did the same near us.
I noticed Kevin speaking to Emily about asking him for any reason to talk and blocked an attack from Mia as I looked back at her. "Kevin's really hoping to get on everyone's good side, isn't he? I mean I know he's diligent with being a samurai, but why does he feel like he has to be there for everyone? Doing all that just brings a person down to where they can't function properly."
Mia shrugged slightly as she responded, "I'm not sure... but I think it might be an inferiority complex."
I blinked in surprise and blocked her next attack. "How do you figure that?"
She clashed with my blade and made a face. "Honestly, Bekah... I don't mean anything against you, but you and Jayden have been training all your lives to redeem yourself and to lead the team respectively. I doubt Kevin's used to feeling lesser than the two of you."
Mike finished up his practice on his leaf symbol and this time he made longer shaped leaves appear. "Finally did it!" He turned and pumped his fist. "Booyah!"
I smiled and clapped for Mike. "Well done, Mike. You're really starting to improve!"
Kevin walked over to congratulate him and offer help to him as well, and I couldn't help but frown slightly as I thought more about Mia's words. Maybe she had a point. I couldn't always be there for the team and I knew it, especially with my curse. But Kevin wanting to be there for the others made me think that maybe he needed someone to be there for him, understand what it felt like from my position as co-leader of the team.
I walked over to Mentor and Jayden, sighing softly softly as I watched Kevin spar with Mia for a while.
Mike walked over to us and asked, "What's up with Kevin? Why is he so worried about everyone?"
I looked at him. "Mia thinks it might be an inferiority complex, but I'd say it's more than that." I watched the Blue Ranger as I continued, "Some of us can't be there all the time for others, and it's gonna fall on to others to ensure that the team's well-being is stable. I think Kevin wants to make sure that everyone's okay in case Jayden or I can't be there for the rest of you guys." I glanced at Jayden and Mentor, who both shared an understanding look with me. The secrets within the Shiba clan and myself could shake up the team dynamic worse than any of the others could believe.
(No POV)
Down in the Sanzu River, another Nighlok was swimming towards the Junk, which Dayu happened to notice. "Swimming weirdo just off the port stern."
Xandred walked over and saw the Nighlok. "Hey, what's that creep Doubletone doing here?!"
Doubletone spoke up from where he was, "Humans are such crybabies when they're scared. Isn't it just wonderful how their tears raise the Sanzu River?" He dove under the water and directed his words to the Nighlok head, "Master Xandred, permission to come aboard!"
"Granted!" Xandred called back, turning to face the boarding Nighlok. "What're you doing here anyway?"
"Nice to see you too," Doubletone said calmly.
Xandred looked at Octoroo. "I'm guessing you summoned him?"
Octoroo turned around. "You betcha, boss! His reputation for ugliness got me thinking. His face brings a lot of fear to some, but I hear he's a heartbreaker too! He's actually able to get those pesky humans to give up their dreams! And nothing is sadder to them than giving up on a dream. It'll make the river rise a good foot!"
"Yeah, nobody does it better!" Doubletone agreed.
Xandred growled angrily. "That's what they all say!" He kicked a Mooger back and faced Doubletone. "Do you know how many Nighlok have failed me already?! Failure's not an option!" He kicked a post, shaking the Junk as he shouted at Doubletone, "If you don't make the river rise, I'll make you feel even uglier than your face!"
"Don't worry, Master Xandred. Let me show you what getting just one human to give up on a dream can do," Doubletone convinced him. "There'll be so much water in the river, you won't know what to do with it! Drink your medicine and leave the rest to me."
(Bekah's POV)
A nice jog through town was helping me to clear my head again and I was feeling a lot better about everything I was dealing with. But still, there were some things that bugged me. I'd gotten the approval from Ji the previous day to be the sensei to those two goofs I'd seen around town, so I wasn't worried there. But I knew I wasn't going to have it easy soon enough.
My thoughts were interrupted in the park when I saw a boy sitting by himself and walked over to him with a smile. "Hey, you okay?"
The boy looked up at me. "Yeah, I'm just..." He sighed softly. "I'm not sure if I want to play in the game tomorrow."
I blinked slightly and tilted my head a little bit. "Why's that?"
He set his hand down. "My dad's in the armed forces and he's away on a mission. He might not be able to make it tomorrow for the big game." He looked down at his ball sadly. "I really wish he could though..."
I nodded sympathetically as I sat next to him. "I understand. My dad's... no longer there for me when I need him." When the boy looked up at me curiously, I decided to explain myself further. "When I was about your age, I was always getting myself into trouble with my family because I had a pretty strict upbringing and I wanted to experience life outside of my dojo. But... that sort of behavior... led me to trouble."
(Flashback, approx. 250 years ago, No POV)
We see a child aged Bekah running far from her home, traversing a path she had long recognized before, but now couldn't see within the darkness of the nighttime.
Suddenly, she noticed a red glow from a nearby tree and gasped in surprise, skidding to a stop and landing on her rear as Xandred himself walked out of the gap. "Master Xandred!"
The Nighlok leader looked at her. "Heh. The young Inukai warrior. Surprised you're all the way out here."
She got to her feet and drew her wakizashi bravely. "I'm not afraid of you! If anything, I know my father will find me!"
He laughed slightly. "And when he does, he won't know the little present I left his daughter with!"
As he maniacally laughed, Bekah was picked up by some Moogers and struggled against them, but to no avail as Xandred walked forward, yanked her hair back, and used a bit of Sanzu River water to carve a symbol into her skin, her pained screams filling the air.
(Flashback End)
(Bekah's POV)
I came out of the memory with tears in my eyes. "Since then, I've regretted doing that, and it's brought me nothing but horrible luck afterwards."
The boy looked up at me. "That's awful. No one as strong as you needs to go through something like that."
I looked at him curiously. "You think I'm strong?"
He nodded and smiled. "Yeah! You've spent a quarter of a millennium this way, and you pushed yourself to keep going despite the odds against you. It doesn't matter if you're cursed to be a monster or not, what matters is the path that you continue to choose to follow."
I smiled back slightly as I processed his words. "I never thought I'd meet someone so wise at such a young age."
He chuckled and extended his free hand to me. "I'm Ryan."
I shook his hand in mine. "Bekah."
He tossed his baseball up and grinned. "You wanna get a few practice throws in?"
I grinned back and chuckled. "You're on!" I got up and accepted the extra glove from him, kneeling down and getting ready to catch his pitches, which he threw quite well.
Suddenly, my Nighlok senses went off and I turned around to see a gap glowing and I instinctively stood up.
Ryan noticed my movement. "What is it?"
I held up a hand to keep him back as I glared into the gap. "I know that's you, Nighlok! I won't let you hurt this kid!"
Out came one of the ugliest Nighloks I knew of, Doubletone. "Nice to see you too, Wolfsmane!"
"Wolfsmane?" Ryan asked behind me curiously.
I glanced at Ryan. "It's what they call me in the Sanzu." I returned my focus to Doubletone. "I know of your reputation, but I'm not going to let you use it to your advantage!"
"And what power do you have to stop me?" He asked with a laugh. "You rarely use your Nighlok side!"
I smirked slightly, knowing the Gap Sensor had probably alerted the team by now. "True, but I'm not alone anymore. Or did you not meet my new team?"
On cue, Jayden jumped in, followed by Kevin as they slashed Doubletone back, the others coming in as well, and all of them were suited up.
Mia and Emily ran over to me and Ryan, the former asking, "Are you two okay?"
I nodded to her. "Yeah."
Ryan was amazed by the fact that I knew of the Samurai Rangers, not to mention that I was one of them, but he kept his mouth shut for my sake.
"What kind of mischief were you up to with these two?" Jayden directed his words towards Doubletone.
"None of your beeswax, Ranger! And for the record, your little friend was here already to stop me!" The Nighlok retorted.
I stepped forward with a smirk. "Don't know what you're talking about. I just happened to be in the area."
"Don't play dumb with me!" Doubletone rushed at us, but Mia blocked him while Emily led the two of us to safety.
(Jayden's POV)
Bekah sure knew how to be in the right place at the right time. Protecting the kid from harm was a job well done, but now the rest of us had to deal with the other Nighlok in the vicinity.
"Stay outta my business!" Doubletone growled at us, but we weren't the least bit intimidated as I responded, "Oh yeah?!" I led the group forward to fight him and tried to hit him.
"Didn't I just warn you to mind your business?!" The Nighlok sure was tough with fists alone as he easily knocked Kevin and Mike back. "Why do you Rangers decide to walk in the park for me?!"
I tried to deliver a slash, but I got kicked back as well.
He dodged Mia and Emily easily before going back to the tree he'd come out of. "I'm not done with you yet! Or your little mutt!" He disappeared into the crack as we recovered.
"I think he's planning something real bad," Mike spoke up, and I had to agree with him.
Bekah came back over to us with Ryan by her side as she nodded to us in gratitude. "Thank you, Rangers. I don't know what that monster was planning with Ryan, but I wasn't gonna let him have his way."
Ryan nodded a bit. "Bekah's a great friend and I wish I could be as strong as her."
She looked at him and knelt down with a smile. "You're stronger than you know mentally. There's no reason to ever doubt that." She pulled out a custom Gap Sensor and placed it in his hand. "Listen, if that Nighlok comes back to try anything with you, just press the button on the side. It'll alert us to where you're at and we'll be there within minutes."
"Pinkie promise?" He asked and raised his pinkie finger, to which she hooked her own on his and replied, "Pinkie promise."
He nodded and headed off, waving at us. "Bye! And thanks again!"
She watched him leave before she turned to us as we demorphed and sighed in relief. "I swear you guys have some crazy convenient timing in getting to the area."
Kevin nodded a bit and went to her. "Yeah. Listen, Bekah, if you need any help with sharpening your skills or something like that, you know you can always ask me, right?"
She nodded a little and placed a hand on his shoulder. "I know, Kevin, and I appreciate your support. But it's not just me that's gonna need it. There will come a time when the two Rangers with the most experience will need to have someone lead the team in our stead. So Jayden and I are gonna need to count on you for that if we aren't there."
I nodded as I went to him. "She's right. There's a reason why you're the second in command, even if one of us is still out of the area. We can't always be there, so we will be relying on you."
I saw his palpable relief as he nodded a bit and responded, "You can always count on me."
I smiled and high fived him, shaking hands proudly as I noticed Bekah blushing again out of the corner of my eyes. I knew she had a thing for me, but I didn't know why. I was sure I'd probably find out later.
(No POV)
Ryan's baseball practice went off without a hitch thanks to Bekah's words of wisdom and as the team was finishing up, the coach called out, "Bring it in, everyone!" The kids huddled together with the coach as he spoke to them, "Okay, we're all gonna get some rest and be prepared for tomorrow's game, agreed?"
"Yes, coach!" The group chorused and the coach responded, "Alright, now get on home and rest."
"Thanks, coach!" They chorused again and separated for their homes, all except for Ryan as he looked at his glove with a soft smile, remembering some words of wisdom Bekah had given him.
(Flashback)
"Your dad may not be here with you, but I know he's watching over you in spirit, buddy," Bekah had told him, smiling a bit.
(Flashback End)
He nodded a bit and grabbed his bike, heading away from the field before he saw Bekah again with Mia and Kevin and he smiled. "Bekah!" He ran over to her quickly.
She smiled and knelt down, giving him a hug as she said, "Hey! Good to see you again, Ryan!"
He looked at the others. "So who are your friends?"
She looked up and stood up. "Ryan, I'd like you to meet Mia and Kevin."
"Hi," Mia said softly as she walked over to him. "What's up?"
"We know that Nighlok... or that monster was trying to get at you earlier," Kevin mentioned to him. "Bekah told us what he was capable of."
Bekah nodded a bit and placed a hand on Ryan's shoulder. "If you see Doubletone again, don't agree to any deal he wants to make. He'll use it against you."
Ryan nodded a bit. "I understand. I'll make sure to keep an eye open for him." He gave off a small smirk. "He's not gonna get past the Rangers while we're around to alert them." He high-fived his new friend and pedalled off.
Bekah watched and got a sense of happiness, smiling a bit as she looked at her companions. "I think he may know our secret without us even needing to say anything."
Mia nodded a bit. "That's gonna be a big help."
Kevin sighed in relief, nodding as well before he heard his stomach growling and chuckled slightly. "Sorry, I haven't gotten anything to eat yet."
Bekah chuckled as well and smiled. "No problem. Mia and I will be able to make something back at the dojo."
The three headed off quickly, Kevin remembering something as he explained to the girls, "I used to be like Ryan before a big swim meet. As I swam lap after lap in that pool, my dad and I felt I was getting closer to my goal. My ultimate goal."
Bekah nodded in understanding. "To swim in the Olympics."
He nodded solemnly. "I miss that dream."
"That doesn't mean you have to give it up though," she responded wisely. "I'm still holding on to my dream of being a teacher one day and I use my experiences to help teach others while I'm with the team. Why do you think Ryan's more confident now? He knows what my mistakes did to me, and he's definitely given me some good advice: It doesn't matter if bad luck happens or good luck happens, what matters is the path you choose to take."
Mia smiled and nodded. "That's pretty amazing for someone that young to know."
Kevin nodded a bit. "I still miss that dream because swimming was a big part of my life along with training. I don't know how else to explain it."
"You don't have to, Kevin." Bekah respectfully responded, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder. "You had big dreams, and that's not something that's easily forgotten overnight." She looked back at Ryan as he practiced his catching and continued, "Ryan told me his dream was to have his dad watch at least one of his games, but the father is overseas." She turned back to her teammates. "I'm sure his dad is still watching over him, no matter how far away he is."
Kevin nodded a bit and smiled, understanding where Bekah was coming from.
(Mia's POV)
Later on that night, Bekah was pulling out a wonderfully crispy chicken from the oven as I watched in amazement and smelled the delicious odor. "Wow, you even got a good rub in on that chicken!"
She smiled a bit and shrugged slightly. "It's all about developing a good palate. Learning what goes well together and what doesn't. Plus, you can't have the heat too high or it'll burn to a crisp regardless of what you try to do to save it." She passed me a knife and pointed out the apples. "Can you slice those, please?"
I nodded and started cutting them up as she had show me earlier, both of us hearing the others talking about our dual skills with Mike whispering, "What are they cooking in there? I mean Bekah's skills are really helpful to her, not gonna lie."
"At least we've got a chef in the kitchen and a sous chef to help her and learn from mistakes," Kevin whispered as Bekah skillfully peeled some potatoes.
Jayden looked at the group as he whispered, "And at least we've also got an ally on the outside."
Emily nodded a bit. "I'm glad the kid's keeping our secret safe. Bekah's trying to help cheer everyone up too, and she's teaching Mia in the process."
Kevin nodded a bit. "She's definitely cheering me up with how amazing that dinner's smelling."
"You guys realize I can hear you even though you're whispering, right?" Bekah asked without looking, smirking slightly as she stole a quick glance at the group.
I looked at her in surprise as the others sans Jayden rushed off before I looked at her in surprise. "How'd you even know?"
She shrugged and simply replied, "Sharp sense of hearing." She threw up several oranges and sliced them into quarters in midair like a ninja before she got them into a large bowl and smirked proudly.
I clapped for her in excitement. "That was so cool!"
She smiled at me and chuckled slightly. "Some samurai skills can be put to good use in the kitchen."
(Bekah's POV)
When dinner was finished, I helped Mia with carrying the food out to the team and we set up the table as I spoke, "I hope you're all hungry, cause Mia and I cooked up some sweet and sour chicken with garlic mashed potatoes, broccoli cheese bites, and a fruit salad."
Mike smiled a bit. "Man, that smells awesome!" He grabbed a plate and got his portion.
Kevin nodded a bit. "I'm all for that one." He did the same, as did Ji, Emily, and Jayden, me and Mia gathering our portions last.
Emily was the first to try the food and she smiled happily. "Mm! This is so delicious! The flavor is just exploding in my mouth!"
I smiled a bit and watched the others enjoying the food, grateful for all the lessons I had gotten from various Michelin star chefs as I popped a broccoli cheese bite in my mouth. "To be fair, I only knew some basic recipes from my mom teaching me before she died. But when I was alone and travelling around the world, that's how I picked up more recipes to follow. So many countries with such different cuisines like Italy, France, Romania, even in America they utilize the different cultures' foods like in the city of Ocean Bluff. Most unique pizza place I've ever been to while I was there, and I had no idea there were so many different combinations of toppings, crust, and sauce to create a pizza with." Won't lie, the pizza at Jungle Karma was definitely an... interesting experience for me.
Kevin nodded a bit. "You definitely have to show us some more of your cooking cause this is serious mouth watering dynamite!" He ate a piece of apple.
I nodded a bit. "Well, I'm more than happy to, as long as my sous chef is willing." I smiled at Mia as she nodded to me and replied, "You bet!"
Later on in the middle of the night, I couldn't sleep because I was worrying about Ryan, wondering if he'd be okay the next morning.
So while the others were asleep, I snuck out of the dojo and focused, transforming into my Nighlok form for the first time in over 200 years. My Nighlok form was fitting for my monstrous name: A humanoid wolf like Nighlok that was a pure off-white, sort of grayish in color, and I had sharp claws that I could use as my weapon (A/N: I basically adapted the Wolf Orphnoch as a Nighlok. I felt like it was fitting.).
Sniffing out Ryan's unique scent, I followed it at a quick speed and climbed up a tree near his house, sitting down on a branch to watch over him.
As the full moon rose through the trees, I watched it silently and sighed softly as I leaned against the tree, remembering the first night I had transformed into Wolfsmane.
(Flashback, approx. 250 years ago)
I had gone out into the woods to do some training on my own and I was pushing myself hard, but then as I looked up at the full moon, I remembered what day it was and what time it was.
Suddenly, I shouted in agony as I felt the curse mark affecting my body and I dropped to my hands and knees, watching as my hand transformed into claws. "Augh!" I screamed and threw my arms back as I transformed into my Nighlok form with a red glow surrounding me.
Once I was completely changed, I panted heavily as I looked at myself in fear. "I..." I didn't have time to think because at that moment, I heard a twig snap and looked around to see a Shiba clan servant coming towards me cautiously.
"I will not hurt you, Lady Inukai," he had promised me. "But I shall have to let Lord Shiba know of your condition."
I hesitated slightly before I nodded to him and turned so he could see the curse mark. "Show him this as well."
He looked at it intently and traced it carefully before ensuring that he had it copied on to some paper and nodded to me. "We will try to find a cure for you. I promise." He headed off to warn the Shiba leader of my curse.
I watched him go and sighed softly before I caught a whiff of smoke from the distance and looked towards my father's dojo. "No! Father!" I got up and rushed back to the dojo as quickly as possible.
(Flashback End)
It was a burden I now had to live with, being a cursed hybrid that could potentially help or destroy the team from within. But I was determined not to give up, even if it meant I had to show my monstrous self to the others soon.
The next morning, I woke up and saw Ryan heading out of his house, placing his stuff in his backpack as he got on his bike and started heading out, but not before he decided to take a stop in the woods as he came over to the tree I was in and spoke up, "I know it's you, Bekah!"
I hopped down from my position and landed in front of him, showing my form to him. "You're not scared of me as I am now?"
He shook his head slightly. "I always thought wolves were cool, and you being a wolf monster makes you even more cool in my book."
I chuckled slightly as I smiled a little. "Thanks."
"Do Mia and Kevin know about your monster form? Or anyone else on your team?" He asked, making me hesitant for a moment before I responded, "Well, only my co-leader Jayden and our mentor know of my true secret. They haven't said anything to the others about it. I'm scared of what they'll say."
He walked over and patted my arm gently. "My dad always told me that you should never be afraid to tell the truth. If you keep hiding it from them, you're gonna break their trust."
I thought over his words before nodding and patting his shoulder. "I understand."
"Aww, isn't that sweet?" We both turned quickly as we saw Doubletone coming out of a rock gap. "And I thought a hybrid like yourself couldn't show emotion, Wolfsmane!"
I got Ryan behind me quickly, seeing him activate the mini Gap Sensor, and stood readily. "Leave him out of this, Doubletone! This is between you and me!"
"Gladly!" Doubletone ran at me, and I was rearing to go!
(No POV)
Ryan quickly ran behind some bushes to stay out of sight, watching over Bekah and frowning in concern.
"Ryan!" He turned as he heard Mia's voice calling out to him and saw her running over with Kevin and the rest of the group as she asked him, "Are you okay?"
He nodded a bit. "Yeah, thanks to that wolf girl."
Mike noticed Bekah's Nighlok form and did a double take. "What the?!"
"A Nighlok fighting another Nighlok?" Kevin was equally as confused.
Emily shook her head slightly. "That doesn't make sense."
Jayden looked at the group, covering for Bekah. "For now, let's assume that wolf Nighlok is on our side and help her out."
Ryan grabbed his bike and pedalled away to the baseball field, allowing the team ample room to morph without trouble. "Go Go Samurai!" They drew their symbols and changed into their suits just as Doubletone unleashed a Tiger Tidal Wave, knocking Bekah back.
The heroes rushed in and slashed Doubletone one at a time as he groaned, "Where did you punks come from?!"
The five landed next to Bekah as Jayden secretly helped her up and asked, "You okay?"
Bekah nodded gratefully to him, thankful her Nighlok form was hiding her emotions. "Yeah." She turned around and refocused. "But that Nighlok needs to learn to play nice with others!"
"Looks like we were just in the nick of time to help," Mia said.
Doubletone got up and looked around as he said, "Moogers! Come out, come out, wherever you are!" Instantly, gaps glew and a Mooger posse appeared, making our heroes run into the fray.
Summoning their weapons to fight the army, Jayden, Mike, and Emily knocked down their respective groups while Mia, Kevin, and Bekah fought their way towards Doubletone.
"Hey, you're giving my Moogers the blues! And the pinks, I guess," the Nighlok said.
"You're definitely gonna feel the howls too," Bekah snapped before readying her own special attack. "Howling Claw Destruction!" She slashed her claws and let out a sonic howl that sent Doubletone flying back.
"Nice!" "Amazing!" Kevin and Mia ran over to her.
Bekah nodded proudly and stepped back. "You two can finish him off for your friend."
With that, the two Samurais summoned their weapons and double teamed Doubletone, destroying his first life.
As the others prepared for the second round, Bekah slipped away to change back into her human form and morph so she could join the fray.
(Kevin's POV)
Mia and I went Mega Mode to double team Doubletone again and we braved through his attack.
"Let's turn up the heat on this creep-a-zoid!" I pushed my controls forth and let my Zord blow flames at him.
Mia went next by turning her Zord into its folded position and I let my Zord grab hers, flying at Doubletone before I released it to let her hit him as she said, "That's for trying to trick Ryan!"
"You won't be doing that to anyone else!" I agreed with her.
We noticed the team coming in, with Bekah joining up, and then we formed the Megazord, all of us ready to finish the fight, but we got our sword knocked out of the Megazord's hands and struggled before I thought of something and looked at Jayden. "I've got an idea!"
"Then go for it!" He gave me the approval as I used my controls to cause the Megazord to jump up and Mia used her Turtle Zord in a spinning attack.
As we landed, we grabbed the sword and drew our Mega Blades, utilizing the Samurai Strike to finish him off.
"Samurai Rangers..." Jayden started it, but Bekah, Mia, and I finished it up this time, "... victory is ours!"
(Bekah's POV)
Later on that day, the team and I had all agreed to go to Ryan's game to support him and I caught a ball he threw my way, smiling a bit as I nodded to him. "You've got a heck of a right, Ryan! I know you're gonna win these playoffs!"
He nodded a bit and held up his baseball. "I still miss my dad, but I'm not gonna lie: you make for an awesome friend, Bekah."
I smiled and walked over, giving him a hug before I heard his coach calling for the gang to huddle and patted his shoulder. "Go get them, tiger." I let him go before I rejoined my team.
"It's awesome how you give time to the younger kids too, Bek." Mike complimented me as I sat down.
I shrugged a bit. "We all were like Ryan was at one point. Doubting our dreams because of someone or something we miss deeply. But as long as we keep thinking about those people or anything we cherish, especially in our hearts, then we can push through all the pain and look forward to a brighter future." I smiled at Jayden, who gave me an equally proud smile.
We heard the cheers and looked over to see Ryan take the field and hit a homer, clapping and cheering with the audience as his team likewise celebrated his victorious grand slam.
Okay, well... at least I got some more viewpoints in. And we finally know what Bekah looks like as a Nighlok, plus how she was cursed in the first place. I didn't know what her Nighlok nom de guerre should be, but considering the spikiness of the Wolf Orphnoch's fur features, Wolfsmane sounds as appropriate as anything. Plus, it gave a side character a little development to be perceptive and keep the team's secret. And if y'all are wondering, yes. Bekah will be teaching Bulk and Spike about being a samurai and maybe she'll induct them into the team. That's mostly gonna be background stuff though, so don't blame me. Anyway, read and review as always!
