As the William and Dorothy got back to the station, while George and the inspector continued looking in Sam's room. William and Dorothy, began their investigation in his office.

"Do you know, who was sending him, death threats? William asked

Dorothy was leaning against his desk, which usually he doesn't like strangers doing, but he somehow trusted her, "unfortunately not all of them. But I remember one lady, who came to our New York office and threatened him"

"How was he threatened?"

"Well, he escorted her out, but I was looking out for him. So, I slipped out and overheard her in the hallway, saying "like I said to you in the letter, if you write this article, you're dead, and walked away!"

"Who was this lady?"

"Can't remember, but he kept her letter. If I saw the letter I would know her"

William nodded, as the phone rang, "excuse me. Detective William Murdoch"

"William, I got the postmortem results" Julia said

"I'll be right there" and hangs up the phone, "follow me to the morgue"

As they walked into the morgue, they saw Julia, "what have you, doctor?"

"Well, Mr. Mitchell, didn't just get killed from his allergy to nuts, he was overdosed on insulin."

"That's weird, I was the only one who knew he was a diabetic." Dorothy said out loud

"And you are?" Julia asked

"Oh, I'm sorry. Julia this is Dorothy Gurden."

Julia and Dorothy, shook hands, "just call me, Dorothy"

"Right and Dorothy, this is our coroner, Dr. Julia Ogden…"

"And your wife, if I remember from your book"

"That's right. Dorothy was friends with the victim and is helping us with the investigation"

"Well welcome, Dorothy" Julia said as she smiled at the young woman, "I feel like I have met her before" Julia thought to herself

"Thank you, Dr Ogden. But you said he was overdosed on insulin?"

"Yes, the insulin he had in his system, was way too much. By the looks of his body, I would say someone shoved the peanuts in his mouth and shot him with insulin at the same time."

"It would have been a painful and slow death for him?"

"Yes, Miss Gurden, it was…" as Julia opened his eyes, "he suffocated"

Dorothy leaned forward, "petechial hemorrhaging"

"Do you have medical knowledge, Miss Gurden?"

"Dorothy please and some."

"Time of death, Julia?"

"I suggest between 5:00-8:00 this morning"

"An hour before I arrived"

William looked at her and couldn't believe how, despite her being friends with the victim, held her emotions in, "anything else, you can tell us?"

"Yes, I found these in his stomach, along with a piece of paper"

William looks at the one item, "a pin"

"Let me see that" says Dorothy as she examines it, "I recognize this. It was Sam's grandfather's war pin."

"Why swallow it?"

"I remember his brother, Phil, wanted the pin, but to sell for money. It was his prize procession"

William nodded, "well, there's a suspect, we need to find"

"Well, no problem, finding him, he lives in the boarding house across from me."

As William listens he, opens the paper, "I see something on here, but with some iodine, I can figure it out. Thank you, Doctor"

"Your welcome, detective" Julia said being flirty

As William and Dorothy left the morgue back to his office, before asking George, who just arrived back from the Sam's room, to contact Sam's brother, Phil.

It was a few minutes later, as Dorothy still pondered, while William worked on the letter, "it can't be Phil. Yes he was the older brother, but he's not capable of murder."

"Sometimes greed can lead to someone murdering a family member, Miss Gurden."

"I suppose so"

As William revealed more of the words on the letter, "I got something here. Some letters and numbers but…"he says and grabs his magnify glass, "some sort of code" and looks up to see Dorothy going through her journal again and nodded, "what's up with that journal and is she hiding something?" He thought to himself

As she puts her journal back in her satchel, she looks up, "what does the code say, detective?"

"O.T. G-D. Then it goes in a paragraph, of letters with numbers on the end."

"May I see detective?"

He hands her the magnifying glass, and takes a look,"F.I.L G.N.D D.N.F T.D. N C.S D.U. D.B. 102310" and gasps as she stood back, "this message was for me."

William looks at the code again, "why the code?"

"Sam had a challenge with numbers and letters all his life. He had a condition called word-blindness or dyslexia. It was a term developed by physician Dr. Kussmaul and Rudolf Berlin."

"I have heard of this, that the person with the condition, numbers and letters are confusing for them."

"Yes, so when we communicated through letters, I told him write in a code backwards. He did this when writing an article as well. He would type the article backwards then I would help him write it the right way."

"Ingenious, Miss…Dorothy. But you know what the code says?"

"Yes, I do" and walks to the board, "if I may?"

William nods as she flips the board, and writes the code down first, "ok, detective, the first line of letters is, To, Dorothy."

He looks at the letters again, "makes sense."

She writes the rest of the code, "life in danger. Find death threats in suitcase under the bed, 013201, is the number on the suitcase."

"Impressive. But my constable and the inspector searched the whole room and under the bed, when we were there and didn't see any suitcase."

"The suitcase isn't at the boarding house."

"Oh, then where?"

"It's in my room. Sam gave me the suitcase to hang on too, a week ago. He told me, to keep it safe."

William smiled, "well then it's off to your boarding house, Dorothy. Lead the way"
