I decided to make a crossover fanfic between Mario and Dragon Quest. I decided to do it because Mario has been in more than a few RPGs.

I figured that I would base it off of New Super Mario Bros U.

The main character will be Jessica because people love her. You can probably guess why. There's also the fact that she csn manipulate fire…which makes her not out of place in Mario's world.

I'm open to other DQ characters though. There's a lot of them.

Chapter 1: The Adventure Begins

After destroying Rhapthorne and avenging her brother, Jessica was happy to live in peace in Alexandria.

She kept in touch with her friends, of course, but she was happy to live a peaceful life.

After all, she was pretty sure that was what her brother would want. She liked to think that she was watching over them.

But one day, a portal suddenly appeared.

"What kind of magic is this?" questioned Jessica.

She had studied a variety of spells, but she hadn't seen magic quite like this.

Suddenly, the portal grew in size.

She was sucked inside.

The next thing she knew, she was in a world of mushrooms.

"What is this place?" questioned Jessica. She had been to a lot of places, but none quite like this one. There were mushrooms abound.

She noticed a sign.

"Well, that's pretty convenient." noted the girl.

The sign read "Welcome to the Mushroom Kingdom!"

"The mushroom kingdom?" questioned Jessica. It seemed peculiar to have a kingdom themed after them.

She had been to a variety of kingdoms, but she hadn't seen a kingdom quite like this one.

Suddenly, a Toad approached her.

"Hello! Are you looking for Toad Town?" asked Toad. People who came to the Mushroom Kingdom often paid it a visit.

"Toad Town?" questioned Jessica.

"Yeah! It's only a short distance from here!" explained the kingdom citizen.

"I see." answered the girl.

Toad escorted her to Toad Town.

"Thank you for showing me the nearest civilization." thanked Jessica.

"You're welcome!" exclaimed the Toad. He was happy to help people.

As usual, things were bright and cheery in town.

It seemed this town was full of friendly faces.

"I'm glad that everyone is so welcoming." remarked Jessica.

If she was in a world of war, she might not survive. But she had lucked out.

She began to turn some heads.

"Why is everyone looking at me like th-oh wait, that's right." recalled the girl.

People had a tendency to do that.

She was a gorgeous girl.

"You dress like the queen of the Beanbean Kingdom!" exclaimed one of the Toads.

"The Beanbean Kingdom?" asked Jessica.

The Toad showed her a picture.

"Oh. Yeah, I do." nodded the sorceress. Though she had a slender frame by comparison. Why did she look so green?

She noticed a castle up ahead.

"Is that where your leader lives?" questioned Jessica.

"Uh-huh!" exclaimed the Toad.

"I see." comprehended a girl.

"Now that I think of it, she's a human…like you!" shouted the fun guy. He didn't see humans enter the Mushroom Kingdom every day. Why were they so scarce?

"Really?" asked Jessica.

"Yeah…the only humans I know of other than Peach are the Super Mario Brothers." spoke Toad.

"The Super Mario Bros?" questioned the girl.

"Yeah! They save the Mushroom Kingdom from Bowser all the time!" exclaimed the short guy. Everyone loved them.

"Bowser?" questioned Jessica.

"He's the Mushroom Kingdom's greatest enemy!" shouted Toad. Everybody feared him. Mario and Luigi had defeated him, but he had unfortunately escaped imprisonment. But Peach was sure that they could defeat him again, so the residents of Toad Town weren't too worried.

He showed Jessica a picture.

"Yeah…I've faced monsters like him before." admitted the sorceress.

"Wow! That's amazing!" exclaimed Toad.

"You flatter me." answered Jessica.

Suddenly, the clouds began to darken.

"Oh no…" spoke Toad.

"What's wrong?" asked Jessica.

"It's Bowser! He's trying to kidnap the princess again!" exclaimed the fun guy.

"He is?" questioned the redhead.

"Yeah. He keeps attacking our town too." spoke Toad.

The Toads ran inside their houses.

"Have you ever considered fighting back?" asked Jessica. That was what she would do in this situation.

"But they're scary!" shouted the Toad. Especially given who their king was. He once tried to drop many people into boiling lava. Though for some reason one of them actually wanted that. He needed help.

"Bowser does sound scary. But you seem to be letting him walk over you." pointed out the mage.

"I guess we kind of are." admitted the fun guy.

"You might be small, but you can use that to your advantage." suggested Jessica.

Toad wondered if he and his friends could ambush the Koopa Troop.

Goombas and Koopas began to march towards the town.

"It's your choice." spoke Jessica.

Toad decided to ask his friends if they wanted to fight back against the Koopa Troop.

They decided that they wouldn't let the Koopas take their land.

So they planned a counterattack.

The Goombas and Koopas arrived.

"Let's pillage this town, shall we?" asked one of the Goombas.

Suddenly, they were ambushed by the Toads.

They used their small size to hide behind objects, so the Goombas and Koopas wouldn't know they were under attack until it was too late.

The Goombas and Koopas tried to fight them, but the Toads were quick on their feet.

They had a lot of experience running from danger…which worked in their favor.

"We're getting overwhelmed!" exclaimed one of the Goombas.

"I wasn't expecting them to fight back!" shouted one of the Koopas. Before it seemed like they would rather run than fight.

They decided to retreat.

It seems this town wasn't going to fall so easily.

"I wish we had done this twenty years ago when we were attacked by aliens!" exclaimed the Toad. That had been a dark chapter in the history books, that was for sure.

Though to be fair to them, the Shroobs had been a much bigger threat than the Koopas had been. They had flying saucers.

"You were attacked by aliens?" asked Jessica.

"It's a crazy story." remarked one of the Toads. It involved time travel, for one. Perhaps she should ask the professor about it.

As a reward for encouraging them to stand up for themselves, they let Jessica stay at one of their houses.

"It's not as big as my mansion back home, but I'm not complaining." noted Jessica.

She decided to relax.

The next day, she received an invitation to Peach's Castle.

"Oh?" questioned Jessica.

It seemed that the princess wanted to thank her for encouraging the Toads to stand up for themselves.

She decided to accept.

"Thank you. Our kingdom should be much better defended now." remarked Peach.

"Huh. I guess I'm not the only human here." spoke Jessica.

"Humans do end up here sometimes." admitted the princess.

"Really?" questioned the sorceress.

Peach showed her a picture of Mario and Luigi.

"So…these are the heroes of your kingdom?" questioned Jessica.

She was expecting more Toads.

Peach nodded.

"I was about to call them, but then you persuaded the Toads to fight back. I commend you for it." commended Peach.

The Toads clapped and cheered.

"I hope that I can find a way home…but I am liking it here." remarked Jessica.

Perhaps she would get to meet them someday.

At the Koopa Kingdom…

In his castle, Bowser stood on his throne.

"The attack on Toad Town failed?!" exclaimed Bowser.

He was not happy to hear that.

"They decided to fight back." explained Kamek. It was surprising how brave they turned out to be.

"It's bad enough that the Mario Brothers trounced me and shrunk me to the size of a mouse, but now the Toads are organized!" shouted the Koopa King.

The Goombas couldn't handle them anymore.

Still, he wasn't going to give up easily.

Perhaps he could conquer a different kingdom. One that wouldn't see him coming.

He had done well against the penguin kingdom. Unsurprisingly, they were weak against fire. And as luck would have it, Bowser could breathe flames.

He could conquer the jungle kingdom…but he did not like bananas. That was one thing he and DK did not have in common.

"I know! I'll conquer the Beanbean Kingdom!" exclaimed Bowser. It would be nice to have some of their coffee, for one. And since it was similar to the Mushroom Kingdom, they wouldn't have to worry too much about not knowing what they were up against.

"Don't they have a prince and royal guards defending it?" questioned Kamek. It seemed better defended than the Mushroom Kingdom, that was for sure.

And the prince was a grandmaster at swordsplay. Even if he had been tricked by his enemies one time.

"They're helpless against an attack from the sky!" remarked the Koopa King.

"True…" nodded the advisor.

Exploiting a weakness in their defenses was too good an opportunity to pass up.

There was a kingdom in outer space that he was aware of…but he wasn't sure if he and the rest of Bowser's army could breathe in space. Even if this was a video game world.

Meanwhile…

Another portal opened up.

This one was dark in color.

Out stepped the Dragonlord.

"Finally! My research into portal magic has paid off! Now I can conquer any world I want!" exclaimed the dragon lord.

This one seemed as good as any.

The residents didn't seem like they would be defended from his attack. This world only seemed to know peace, judging from the smiling clouds that were in the sky.

It was time to begin his conquest.

His partner had invented a potion that could transform beings into monsters.

That partner happened to be Baramos.

He had decided to come with him to this world.

A Toad approached them.

"Hey there! Welcome to the Mushroom Kingdom!" exclaimed the Toad.

He waved his hand.

"We'll make ourselves feel welcome, alright." noted Baramos.

He pulled out his potion.

"Wait, are you an evil overlord?" questioned the Toad. He noticed that the Dragonlord had brought a variety of monsters with him.

He looked up at the sky, and noticed that it had mysteriously turned purple. And the formerly smiling clouds were now glaring at him. And they were storm clouds as well.

Dragonlord nodded. He prided himself on being evil.

"Oh no! Not another one!" shouted the small resident of the Mushroom Kingdom. They could barely one. He wasn't sure if they could handle two.

"There's another evil overlord here?" questioned the Dragonlord.

He would want to look in the matter. There could be some competition. But he was still convinced he could conquer this kingdom.

Baramos threw the potion at the Toad.

He turned into a slime.

"I'm ready to serve!" shouted the slime.

"Not much, but it's a start." spoke the Dragonlord.

Soon the Mushroom Kingdom would be his.

"Milord, may I ask you a question?" asked Baramos.

"Yes, you may." answered the lord of dragons.

"Why did you choose this kingdom specifically?" questioned the lackey of the evil overlord. With the portal magic he had the sky was a limit.

"It's filled with gold coins!" exclaimed the Dragonlord.

"Oh! I see!" comprehended the minion.

This seemed like a good kingdom to conquer for that reason. With that amount of money he could build a much greater army.

"Besides, given how peaceful it is, I figured it would be nothing but entertaining to conquer. From pleasantness to wickedness, am I right?" asked the Dragonlord.

"This does seem amusing." nodded Baramos.

The two let out an evil laugh.

In his room, Luigi woke up with a start.

"Mamamia!" exclaimed the green plumber.

That was a nightmare.

Little did he know that was actually happening.

"Luigi? What's wrong?" asked Mario.

"I had a nightmare where a dragonlord and his partner turned a Toad into a slime!" exclaimed Luigi.

"Oh no!" shouted the red plumber.

"It was a crazy dream." noted the green plumber.

"It's alright. Everything will be fine." assured the red plumber. That did sound like a crazy dream.

Luigi took a deep breath.

I figured Mario and Dragon Quest have a connection. And a crossover game does exist between the two.

I also figured this would be fun to write. It's inspired by Nan the Keyblade Master's works though I do question the connection between some of the works he crosses over.

I made Baramos the right-hand man of the Dragonlord because he's a demonic dragon. Baramos, I mean.

See ya!
