800 years ago an event happened that changed the world forever. What exactly happened was lost to the passage of time. But what is known is that this even created the devil fruits and once their power became known catastrophe happened. People and Pokemon alike fought and killed each other over these fruits and thus a new era of bloodshed occurred. The warring period happened and through the deaths of countless humans and Pokemon, an international treaty was created by all the regions. The devil fruits and their users would be rounded up and sent to a neutral kingdom that had not participated in the carnage. The existence of devil fruits was scrubbed from the history books and knowledge was suppressed and even outlawed in some areas. Now the kingdom that agreed to host these devil fruits and keep them out of the hands of the outside world was called the Aurelan Kingdom.

Due to their neutrality and relative isolation, everyone else agreed and the country and their populace human and Pokemon alike took a solemn vow to protect the devil fruits. To keep them out of the hands of outsiders and to prevent a warring period from ever happening again. Thus from this time on devil fruits became the stuff of myths and legends before disappearing from the public consciousness in some regions forever. Yes, the knowledge of devil fruits was repressed but they couldn't be completely eradicated. So it was decided that it was probably all right for the fruits to be considered myths and legends rather than being real.

Now in the present on an island off the Kanto region where a large group of kids are spending a couple of nights with their adopted parents, we see some wreckage appear on the beach. A small kid is washed up on shore and is found by an inquisitive Pokemon who grabs him and brings him back with her to the rest of the group. When arriving back the Pokemon reveals the kid to the others and plans on adopting him. Now the space that they are in is a subspace that can move to different locations around the globe and is accessible to certain Pokemon and kids. For one week all the inhabitants of this space agreed to meet up on the island and bring their kids with them. All so that they could take some time to bond with each other. Now in the subspace is a large building with many different rooms and halls. Each one was extremely luxurious and could be found in a 5-star hotel. The small kid was brought to one of the rooms and laid down on the bed, the pokemon for her part didn't stray from him for very long until one day he woke up.

"Huh, where am I?" The kid asked as he started to wake up.

"So you're awake" The kid turned his head to where he heard the feminine voice coming to his left. He then saw a quadruped dog with a large blue thing appearing from her head. Her fur was short and was a combination of light blue and white. Light purple hair flowed from behind the thing and she had red eyes that stared at him.

"Who are you" The kid asked.

"Suicune but you can call me Mom," She said sweetly and with a smile.

"Now what's your name?" Suicune asked.

"It's Ash Ketchum" Ash replied. Suicune then got up from next to the bed and then snuggled closer to him.

"So Ash what happened?" She asked inquisitively curious about what happened to Ash.

"Well a group of thugs attacked our ship and called themselves Team Rocket and I got blown out to sea in the fight after getting separated from my parents," Ash explained.

'Team Rocket' Suicune hated the group with a passion. She had not hesitated to kill other members of the group when they tried capturing her one time.

"Yeah," Ash sighed.

"Well, how do you feel?" Suicune asked.

"Tired and sore but my strength is coming back," Ash said.

"Well get some rest then" She replied. Ash didn't know why but the feeling he was getting from this Suicune was one of protectiveness and motherly love and care. He felt at ease and safe around her so he quickly fell back asleep as she laid right next to him.

Eventually, after 8 more hours of sleep, Ash was now fully refreshed. He was given new clothes and Suicune led him to meet the other legendaries who decided to all meet together and their adopted families.

"So why did you adopt me?" Ash asked as he walked by Suicune. He just kind of accepted the fact due to a few things. One he had no idea where he was or how to get back home. Two Suicune seemed to be a Pokemon and he could be in trouble depending on how powerful she was. Three even if he wanted to leave he had no method of transportation so for all intents and purposes Ash was stuck. But part of him was curious about where he was and meeting all these new faces had piqued his interest. However, he could only wonder about all the anguish his biological parents and two older siblings are going through. This made him feel some guilt but he also knew that it wasn't his fault in the first place. So he figured that perhaps by getting to know these people he could come up with some sort of plan for getting back home.

"Well as a legendary I'm physically incapable of having biological children and being a Pokemon that doesn't age we get pretty lonely" Suicune started to explain before getting cut off.

"But us humans only live till like 100 so why" Ash couldn't figure it out.

"Well because humans are far more likely to lose their kids. In all honesty, humans make for terrible parents" She sighed.

"Hmm" Ash wondered if he should mention that his mom was a Umberon that ate the Hito Hito no mi. Then he remembered what he was taught back home. The vow his ancestors made and the one that he made as well. To keep the devil fruits out of the hands of outsiders and to prevent another warring period. Add to that the fact that the existence of devil fruits has been suppressed by the other regions due to the treaty so many centuries ago. Add all of this together and Ash came to the conclusion that his devil fruit, the Gomu Gomu no mi, and his origins should be kept secret.

'Ok now I just need a way to get back home' Ash thought to himself.

"So what kind of careers do people usually go for?" Ash asked.

"Well for the most part it's being a Pokemon trainer where you go around and capture Pokemon and battle others for badges before competing in a major tournament" Suicune answered.

"Seems like that is a pretty popular choice," Ash said.

"Indeed it is" Suicune confirmed.

"So I'm assuming that there is plenty of traveling around when being a Pokemon trainer" Ash felt that if he became a Pokemon trainer then it would be the perfect excuse to travel around wherever he was and find a way back home.

"You basically walk all around the Kanto Region as well as the other regions as well" Suicune explained.

'Ah, so I'm in the Kanto Region' Ash thought to himself.

"How does one become a Pokemon trainer?" Ash asked.

"You have to pass an exam first, it's given by your local Pokemon professor" Suicune went on.

"Ok, so where do I find one?" Ash asked.

"Heh, you are far too young to take one, got somewhere to go?" She had a slight smile as she said that.

"No not really" Ash was sweating bullets trying to not let her find out the truth.

"Very well then we are here," She said. Ash looked ahead and saw that there were a bunch of other Pokemon that he assumed were legendaries and a bunch of young kids his age all huddled around a fire. Ash then noticed that the sun had already set and a full moon was out.

"Suicune there you are," One of the legendaries said.

"Oh, who is this kid you have with you?" Another one asked.

"A child I found washed up on the beach, decided to add him to the family," She said.

"Hey kid what's your name?" Another kid asked.

"It's Ash Ketchum" Ash answered.

"Where you from?" Someone else asked. Ash froze at this question because he knew that the Aurlean Kingdom kept its existence and those of the devil fruits by proxy a secret. He also knew that he couldn't go blabbing around and that he had the power of a devil fruit. He should probably say that he's a local but he doesn't know any towns nearby. Perhaps he could feign that he has memory loss and doesn't remember where he's from. Or even better he could say that his family lives in a rural area that's not very close to any of the major cities.

"My parents don't really live near any major cities." Ash lied.

"Oh, what region are they from?" One of the strangers asked.

"Kanto" Ash lied.

"Well then come sit with us by the fire" An older teen patted on a log with an open space next to him and Ash decided to comply.

"So why are there so many people and Pokemon here?" Ash asked trying to change the subject.

"Our parents are addressing any grievances before it can turn into a full-blown conflict," The teen next to him said.

"Oh does that happen a lot" Ash wondered.

"It used to but the damage done to the planet would always be severe thus they all decided to meet here should any tension between legedaries arise. They would use this time to get to the root of the problem and address it" The teen explained.

"Ah makes sense so what's your name then" Ash never got any of their names.

"My name is Lance" Lance introduced himself.

"So what do you do for a living" Ash assumed it was going to be a Pokemon trainer.

"I'm a Pokemon trainer" Lance responded.

"Hmm, what's it like being a Pokemon trainer then?" Ash wanted to get a feel for what he was going to get himself into.

"Well, you travel a lot and need to have camping skills as you will be out in the wilderness by yourself or with friends. Medical skills are also a must and while cooking isn't necessarily a requirement it does come in handy" Lance explained.

"Huh interesting" Ash filed all the information to the back of his mind.

"Why you ask?" Lance asked.

"So I know what I'm going to get myself into," Ash said.

"Ah so you're going to be a Pokemon trainer then" Lance grinned.

"Yep, so what do I need to know when becoming a Pokemon trainer" Ash asked.

"Well you first need to take the exam, this exam has two parts to it a written and a practical part to it. The written portion tests your Pokemon knowledge as you can have at most 6 on you at any time. The practical portion will test you on survival and medical skills. As you will be traveling in the wilderness while en route to cities, this is essential. Once you pass a Pokemon professor will give you your starter, a Pokedex, and some Pokeballs." Lance explained.

"Where do you go to take the exam" Ash asked.

"You have to go to a Pokemon professor. They tell you where you need to go to take one and when it takes place. They are very strict when it comes to this" Lance said in a more serious tone.

"Why?" Ash asked.

"Because the turnover rate for newbie trainers is quite high. Most don't last a year, the death rate isn't as high but plenty of people get themselves killed while travelling. Plenty of Pokemon also kill each other as well" Lance's expression was more grim. Ash also noticed that everyone else was listening as well and they were silent as well. Ash seriously considered if he should tell them of his devil fruit powers. Then he also considered the fact that they probably had psychic types that read minds so they probably already knew anyway.

"Out of curiosity do you have any psychic types on you?" Ash wondered.

"Not on me but we have plenty of psychic types around but they didn't read your mind. It's considered extremely rude to go into someone else's mind without permission." Lance explained.

"So I'm also assuming you knew plenty of people who died while being Pokemon trainers then" Ash assumed.

"Yes around 70% of trainers burn out in their first year and 10% die during their travels" Lance explained.

"Damn, why is it so perilous then?" Ash asked.

"Because trainers by definition catch Pokemon to train. You aren't going to get a lot of Pokemon by going on the routes that humans use so you have to go through back country in order to expand your roster. But some people are so stupid that they don't have any common sense and get themselves killed" The situation that he was going to get himself into finally hit Ash.

"Well at least I'm strong so I don't have to worry too much especially if I come across an electric type" Ash mumbled to himself.

"What do you mean you're strong and how the hell does a Pokemon being an electric type make that much of a difference?" Lance raised an eyebrow.

'Crap' Ash thought as to how he was going to get himself out of this mess without revealing his powers.

"Um….well" Ash stuttered as he realized everyone was looking at him. His mind went blank as to the excuses that he could come up with. Finally, he decided to play the legality card.

"Ok well, legally I can't say" Ash sighed.

"Why" Everyone asked.

"Section 1 Article 2 of the National Treaty of Peace states that if I was to reveal why then I could be executed at least in Kanto," Ash said.

"Wait that treaty is 800 years old how the hell does that have to do with anything?" One kid asked.

"Well," Ash was at a loss for words.

"Because the regions worldwide agreed to keep the existence of something called devil fruits a secret and the penalties are stiff if you break it" Another kid said.

"The hell are devil fruits?" Someone asked.

"According to legend, they grant you a superpower some are said the rival our parents" An older kid responded.

"So Ash what are you hiding?" The air grew tense with anticipation.

"I can't say alright" Ash tried to plead but everyone really wanted to know.

"Tell us" Suicune's words were stern.

"I suppose I don't have much of a choice here do I?" Ash conceded.

"No, we will keep on hounding you till you tell us" The universal response was as if everyone was dying to know Ash's secret.

"What I reveal here will not leave this group my life depends on this" Ash replied.

"Is it that bad?" Someone asked.

"Last time someone revealed the secret they got sent to the gallows" With that piece of information everyone knew that they were playing with fire.

"Ok we promise that we won't say anything," Lance said as everyone else nodded.

"Ok so let me start off by saying that the event that started all of this is unknown." Ash started off with a disclaimer before going into the story. He also realized too that if they wanted they could just get the information from his mind if they desired. So he really had no way out of this situation.

"800 years ago an event happened and from that event led to the creation of devil fruits. They are fruits that taste like rotting, decayed, and expired food that will grant you a superpower at the cost of being unable to swim. They were classified into three types Zoan, Logia, and Paramecia. The Zoan types gave its wielder the power of a Pokemon and the typing as well. You could turn into a Pokemon as well. The most powerful of these were the Legendary Zoans which granted you the power of a Legendary Pokemon as well as the the ability to transform into it. Then there are the Mythical Zoans as well and the thing with zoans is they gain the typing of the Pokemon they transform into." Ash explained before taking a bit of a breather and going back in.

"Logia allows you to use an element such as ice, fire, magma, lighting, and so on. You can also turn into your element granting you intangibility from physical attacks and attacks that are not your weakness. Finally, Paramecia are all the other fruits that are not in the other two categories. The powers of this type vary from fruit to fruit but generally, you get some sort of power like becoming a psychic or being able to use aura. But you can not become intangible with some exceptions." Ash finished his explanation.

"Bull crap everyone knows those are just myths," Some said.

"Ok then take a look at that tree to my left" Ash pointed to a tree 60 meters away.

"Gomu Gomu no Pistol" Ash's arm stretched before it came to the tree and wrapped around a few times. He then retracted his arm as it unwrapped from the tree and came back.

"WHAT" Someone yelled.

"My devil fruit is the Gomu Gomu no mi it turns my body into rubber granting me immunity from physical attacks and electricity but I'm still weak to slashing attacks" Ash replied.

"Uhh, so you are the new user of that devil fruit," Mew thought out loud.

"Wait you knew?" Someone asked.

"Of course we all knew but we all agreed to not say anything. Ash told you all the consequences of revealing this sort of information. Even though we are Pokemon we too made a pact with the regions involved in the treaty and so are bound by it" Mew revealed.

"Why the heck would you care about human politics?" Someone asked.

"Because the warring period killed so many people and Pokemon and all the work we put into making this planet went up in smoke in several regions. So islands got wiped off the face of the planet and now there are humans walking around with powers similar to our own and can even transform into us. Initially, we were pissed and decided to wipe the humans out but eventually, some of them gained enough mastery over their devil fruits that they could match us in combat. Eventually, most people got so sick of the death and destruction that a peace treaty was established." Mew explained.

"You said most people though?" Ash pointed out.

"Yes some of them still wanted to kill so they formed an organization bent on world domination and to do whatever they wanted with innocent people. These people are the sickest bastards you will ever meet considering they do a whole bunch of illegal activity. From gambling and money laundering to the outright enslavement of both humans and Pokemon and even Pokemon/human experimentation. They do these things simply because they can and they would have no qualms about murdering any of you. What's even worse is that they have more than their fair share of devil fruit users." Ash was a bit horrified at this and wondered if he was up to snuff if he ever had to fight them.

"The name of the Organization is Team Rocket"
