The shrill ringtone pierced through the silence of Spencer Reid's apartment, jolting him out of his reverie. He glanced at the caller ID, his heart skipping a beat when he saw Emily Prentiss's name flashing on the screen. Without hesitation, he answered.

"Emily, what's wrong?" Reid's voice was laced with concern.

"Spencer, it's JJ. She's in the hospital," Prentiss's voice was tense, her words rushed.

Reid's mind raced with worry. JJ, his dear friend and former colleague, was in trouble. He couldn't ignore the urgency in Prentiss's voice.

"I'll be there right away," Reid replied, his heart pounding as he grabbed his coat and keys.

Racing through the streets of Quantico, Reid's mind was a whirlwind of thoughts. What could have happened to JJ? Was she okay? He couldn't shake the feeling of dread gnawing at his insides.

Arriving at the hospital, Reid found Prentiss pacing anxiously outside JJ's room. Her eyes were red-rimmed, betraying the worry etched into her features.

"What happened?" Reid asked, his voice tight with concern.

Prentiss took a deep breath, her gaze meeting Reid's. "It's JJ. She's been attacked."

Reid's heart clenched at the news. "Is she okay?"

Prentiss shook her head, her voice barely above a whisper. "She's stable, but it's bad, Spencer. We don't know if she'll make it."

Reid felt a surge of helplessness wash over him. He had to do something, anything to help JJ. Stepping into her room, he found her lying pale and still on the hospital bed, surrounded by machines and monitors.

"JJ," Reid whispered, his voice trembling as he took her hand in his.

JJ's eyelids fluttered open, a weak smile tugging at her lips. "Spencer... you came."

"I'm here, JJ," Reid said softly, his heart aching at the sight of his friend in pain.

As they spoke, Reid couldn't help but notice the absence of JJ's husband, Will. They had always seemed so happy together, their bond unbreakable. But now, there was a distance between them, a void that seemed impossible to bridge.

"Where's Will?" Reid asked quietly, unable to ignore the elephant in the room.

JJ's smile faltered, her eyes clouding with sadness. "We... we got divorced, Spencer. It's over."

Reid felt a pang of sorrow pierce through him. He had always admired JJ and Will's relationship, their love for each other evident in every glance and touch. To see it crumble was a stark reminder of the fragility of life.

"I'm so sorry, JJ," Reid murmured, his voice choked with emotion.

JJ squeezed his hand gently, a silent reassurance passing between them. In that moment, Reid vowed to be there for JJ, to support her through this difficult time no matter what. For in the face of adversity, it was their friendship that would see them through.
