Chapter 5 Batwings through trials
With a male Pichu as his newest Pokémon, Batman and his Noibat continues to train with Ash Ketchum and his Pikachu for the Island Challenge. As They were running by the shoreline, practicing their moves, and sparing with each other, Batman ask Ash Ketchum what he was to expect to do in the island challenges. Ash Ketchum explains to him that he must first take on a trial and then he had to battle against the island Kahuna. Batman asks Ash Ketchum who was the Island Kahuna in Melemele Island and Ash Ketchum answered him that the Melemele Island Kahuna was Hala. So, after they were done finishing with their training, Ash Ketchum led Batman to meet Hala the Kahuna of Melemele Island.
But as they were heading towards Iki Town where Hala lives, Ash Ketchum, his Pikachu, Batman and his Noibat crossed paths with a large group of the Alolan Rattata and Raticate. Batman ask Rotom the information about the Alolan Rattata and Raticate and then he, his Noibat and his newly caught Pichu went after them. But then Ash Ketchum and his Pikachu stopped them before they could reach the Alolan Rattata and Raticate. They both were arguing their differences ideals and then Batman soon was willing to listen to Ash Ketchum since he didn't know anything about the Pokémon world. Ash Ketchum told Batman that they must go into Verdant Cave to find help from Yungoos and Gumshoos. So, they went to Verdant Cave to find help from the Yungoos and Gumshoos.
As they enter inside Verdant Cave, Ash informs Batman that he must battle the Totem Pokémon Gumshoos for their aid to chase away the Alolan Rattata and Raticate. As Ash Ketchum calls out to the Totem Pokémon, a Yungoos and a Gumshoos appeared. Ash Ketchum informs Batman that they are the Totem Pokémon's allies, and that Batman must battle them first. Batman asked Rotom Dex about Yungoos and Gumshoos and he learned that they are both Normal-type Pokémon. Batman chooses his Noibat and his Pichu to battle the Yungoos and Gumshoos. Ash Ketchum warns Batman about Yungoos and Gumshoos and Batman understood, and he told his Noibat to use Supersonic and his Pichu to use Thunder.
But Gumshoos blinds them with Sand Attack, preventing their attacks from hitting before launching another attack. After Yungoos and Gumshoos finish their first attack on Batman's Noibat and Pichu, they immediately follow up with another. Batman told his Noibat and his Pichu to dodge, and then he told his Noibat to use Hurricane, which creates a storm that not only surrounds Yungoos and Gumshoos and affects them, but also provide Batman's Noibat and Pichu some cover. Batman told his Noibat to use Dragon Claw and his Pichu to use Thunder on Yungoos and Gumshoos. Batman's Noibat directly hit Gumshoos with Dragon Claw and Batman's Pichu's Thunder directly hit Yungoos, knocking out the two Pokémon. Batman and his Pokémon cheered, but then soon heavy footsteps from the deeper parts of the cavern were approaching. Soon the Totem Pokémon Gumshoos came out and Batman was surprised to see how big it was.
As the Totem Pokémon Gumshoos lets out a loud roars, Tapu Koko was flying past to observe the battle, unnoticed by everyone in the cavern. The Totem Gumshoos jumps up into the air towards Batman's Noibat and Batman responds by telling his Noibat to use Supersonic. But before Batman's Noibat could attack, the Totem Gumshoos used Frustration at Batman's Noibat. But Batman's Noibat mange to dodge the attack, while barely and counterattack with a Supersonic that directly struck the Totem Gumshoos successfully. But the Totem Gumshoos shook off the attack and it used Frustration that struck Batman's Noibat. The Totem Gumshoos attack move sends Batman's Noibat flying and the Totem swiftly appeared behind Batman's Noibat and ready for another attack. Batman quicky told his Pichu to use Thunder the Totem Gumshoos, but the the Totem Gumshoos quickly struck Batman's Pichu.
Batman barely mange to catch his Pichu and his Pichu was knocked out unable to battle. Batman commanded his Noibat to Hurricane while the Totem Gumshoos used Sand Attack in response to counter the attack. Both move clashes on to each other tremulous power and cause a huge explosion. Soon the Totem Gumshoos dash through and attack Batman's Noibat from behind and sends him flying across the battlefield. Batman ordered his Noibat to use Hurricane again and Gumshoos reacted by using Sand Attack. But this time, Batman tells his Noibat to use the explosion smoke as his own cover. Batman's Noibat fly directly into the sand and wind and then he begins circling around the Totem Gumshoos, spreading the sand and wind to create a thick dust cloud that disorientates the Totem Gumshoos.
Then Batman told his Noibat to use Dragon Claw that he strikes the Totem Gumshoos with a barrage of Dragon Claw. The Totem Gumshoos soon fell to the ground and Batman told his Noibat to use Supersonic to finish him off. The Supersonic move directly hit the Totem Gumshoos but the Totem Gumshoos manage to break off the attack and appears to be able to continue battling. But the Totem Gumshoos finally collapsed to the ground, and it was unable to battle, leaving Batman the winner. Soon Batman walks over to the Totem Gumshoos to check its condition and the Totem Gumshoos bushes off him. The Totem Gumshoos gave Batman a white Z-Crystal, a Normalium Z and Batman asked if it was for him. The Gumshoos insisted on thrusting its paw toward Batman and Batman accepted it.
Ash Ketchum & Pikachu congratulated Batman and his Noibat for their win and Batman asked the Totem Gumshoos for help to chase away the Alolan Rattata and Alolan Raticate. The Totem Gumshoos agreed to help along with the ally Yungoos and Gumshoos and they all went where the Alolan Rattata and Alolan Raticate were. After the Totem Gumshoos, Yungoos, and Gumshoos had battled the Alolan Rattata and Alolan Raticate in a field, Batman asked Ash Ketchum what he should do next. Soon then the Island Kahuna, Hala and his Hariyama showed up and Ash Ketchum introduced Batman to Hala. Batman said that he wanted to participate in the Island challenge and Hala approved and he will have a battle with him. But it was getting late and so they had to postpone the Grand Trial for tomorrow. Everyone went back to their own home for a good night's sleep and for tomorrow's battle.
On the next day, Ash Ketchum & Pikachu accompanied Batman and Noibat to Iki Town for Batman's Grand Trial. Both the Kahuna Hala and Batman pray in the Ruins of Conflict for Tapu Koko's blessing. Back in Iki Town, before the grand trial battle had begun, Ash Ketchum asked Batman if he remembers how to do the Normal-type Z-Move pose and Batman assures him that he had practiced it well enough. Ash warns Batman that a Z-Move can only be used once per battle, so Batman had to choose the wise moment to use it. With technicalities all set, the grand trial battle had begun with Ash Ketchum as the referee. When the battle was about to start, Batman chose his Pichu and Hala chose his Crabominable, which Rotom Dex gave the information about.
Hala begins the battle by telling his Crabominable to use Bubble Beam and Batman tells his Pichu to quickly dodge the attack. When Batman Pichu had dodged the attack, Batman ordered his Pichu to use Thunder that directly struck Hala's Crabominable. But Hala's Crabominable shook it off and Hala told his Crabominable to use Brutal Swing and Batman quickly response to Pichu to used Quick Attack to escape from the attack. As Batman's Pichu was about to use Quick Attack, Hala's Crabominable was quick to caught Batman's Pichu by his tail and send him spinning and toss up in the air. Soon when Batman's Pichu was falling, Hala commanded his Crabominable to use Power-up Punch that directly hit Batman's Pichu. Rotom Dex was worried about Batman's Pichu taking a lot of damage from Hala's Crabominable. Batman's Pichu was knocked on the ground and soon he was struggling to get up.
Batman encouraged him to keep battling and soon Batman's Pichu soon started to brightly glow on the battlefield. Batman's Pichu soon evolved into a male Pikachu and Rotom give the information about Pikachu. Batman's Pikachu had learned a brand-new move, Thunderbolt and struck Hala's Crabominable that paralyzed it. Batman seized the moment and told his Pikachu to use Tail Whip to knock out Hala's Crabominable. Hala returned his Crabominable back to its Poké Ball and Batman and his partner Noibat congratulated Batman's Pikachu. Hala calls up his Hariyama on the battlefield. Batman told Pikachu to take a break from the battle and he chose his Noibat on the battle. Rotom Dex gave the information about Hariyama and mentioned that Noibat is a Flying Pokémon, he had a type advantage against a Fighting-type Hariyama. Both Noibat and Hariyama were ready for battle.
Batman told his Noibat to use Dragon Claw, but Hala told his Hariyama to counter it with Fake Out, grabbing Noibat with one of his wings and stopping the attack. Hala then orders his Hariyama to Knock Off and it throws Batman's Noibat down on the ground. Batman calls out with concern for his Noibat and he was still okay to continue, Batman told his Noibat to use Supersonic but Hala commanded his Hariyama to use Arm Thrust to block the attack. Soon Hala told his Hariyama to keep using Arm Thrust, but Batman told his Noibat to counter it with Dragon Claw. Each attack moves repeatedly clashes on to each other without giving an inch. Finally, when Hariyama was about make the final blow, Batman found an opening and told his Noibat to slip past the attack. Batman's Noibat managed to sneak behind Hala's Hariyama and Batman told him to use Hurricane.
Although the move was very effective, Hariyama wasn't harmed that much. As Batman was thought to use his Z-Move but only with one shot at using it, Hala ordered his Hariyama to use Belly Drum to power-up the attack. Hala then ready his Z-Move with his Hariyama by striking synchronized pose as the energy flows from his Z-Crystal to his Pokémon. Batman tells his Noibat to fly to avoid the incoming attack as Hala and Hariyama unleash All-Out Pummeling Z-Move. Noibat does his best to avoid the Z-Move attack, but soon was directly hit and sending him flying backwards. Nonetheless, Batman's Noibat was able to still be airborne and Batman told his Noibat to fly around Hala's Hariyama. With Hala's Hariyama unable to get a clear fix on Batman's Noibat, Batman told his Noibat to use Dragon Claw that struck Hala's Hariyama on the belly, causing it to fall on its knees.
Batman seized the moment and ready his Z-Move with his Noibat. They well-synchronized strike poses, causing Batman, Normalium Z to glow and charge Z-Power up to Noibat. Batman feels the power that connects him and his Noibat and unleash Breakneck Blitz Z-Move that strikes directly on Hala's Hariyama, sending it flying out of the field. Ash Ketchum declared Hala's Hariyama was unable to battle, and Batman celebrates his victory with his Noibat. When Hala returned his Hariyama, he congratulated Batman and declared that he had passed his grand trial and Hala was soon about to give Batman a Fightinium Z for a reward. But as soon as Batman thanks Hala and was about to take it, something blindly fast swooshes by them and Hala look on his palm that the Z-Crystal was replace by a Flyinium Z. Hala handed Batman the Flyinium Z and Batman accept it. Ash Ketchum and Pikachu congratulated Batman and Noibat for the win and Batman told his Noibat that they must still continue on their training.
