With things now settled, the big event had begun. Grimwood was facing off against the Calloway cadets their first volley ball match, a game that ended with the one of the teams having 25 points before the others and while the Grimwood girls were rather now feeling to be rather excited for this, it was now the cadets who were certainly feeling not too sure about this, after learning that their opponents may be just some weird girls dressed up as monsters, but actual creatures they have heard so much about in horror stories,
Each team was positioned around the net, on Grimwoodd's side Sibella, Phatasma and Elsa were near the back line, while Winnie and Tanis were placed up front by the net,
" Ah-woooooo let's show these guys we mean business, " Winnie howled,
Grunt was the first to serve for his team, he took position with the ball and got read to aim it, " alright, I'm not about to let ourselves loose because our opponents happen to be related to the boogeyman, "
what's boogie mawn ? " tanis asked looking over at winnie who was busily focusing on the other team and their first move they were about to serve. " not important right now Tanis. " winnie said growling.
suddenly grunt then tossed the ball straight into the air and smacked it with tremendous force, sending it over the net and hurling right at them,
" agh I got it " Winnie barked jumping up attempting to counter it, only the ball went right past her and over towards Elsa, who quickly responded by smacking the ball back, it soared back over the net and straight at the cadets
" look out " tug yelled, as he prepared to hit it back again, he hit the ball and it went right back over the net this time it was closer to Tanis and winnie,
" I got's it, tanis shouted attempting to reach for it, but winnie being quick was already heading for it as well, causing them to both run into each other,
" oof ! they both said as the fell back, he volley ball landing and bouncing of each of there heads..
" Ha that's a score for us ! " grunt yelled triumphantly with both hands in the air, mean while tug just had a smirk on his face, " heh, this may be piece of cake after all,
" score One for calloway, " Leona said , as miss Grinwood's little floating hand assistant placed a score cared on their side,
the Grimwood ghouls all just sighed a little, they knew they weren't going to let the other team scoring first ruin there spirits,
" come on girls, we got this, " Sibella said before taking a determined breath ,
Winnie growled to herself, then looked over at tanis, " hey watch your step alright, " she said not wanting to sound too mad at her, but she knew things were at steak for herself here.
" calloway serves again. " Leona said, looking at them with a nod.
it was Baxter's turn to serve the ball now, " remember just like I said. good posture will do it, " colonel Calloway said,
" don't worry sir, I won't let you down, " he said saluting, then preparing to serve the ball. and he did just that. while not with the same force grunt had he still managed to get the ball over the net.
" it's coming for you Sibella, ! " Miss Grimwood shouted.
Sibella stared at the ball as it approached her, she took a deep breath and in one swift movement. she managed to hit the ball back,. send it back over the net,
" excellent work Sibella, ! " miss Grimwood complimented.
so as the ball went into Calloway territory they all scrambled to to get it,
" this one's mine ! " Jamel said hitting the ball and sanding it over the net again, " take that Grimwood, " he said to himself,
but just as the ball was returning Winnie smirked as she got onto all fours and propelled herself off with them and straight in front of the ball, with quik thinking she managed to spike the ball straight down,
the cadets quickly reacted in alarm an all dove right for it, but all missed as the ball managed to hit the ground before they caught it,
" well would you look at that, It seems I got score for us, " Winnie said standing proudly..
" uuh..actually I'm afraid not, " she heard Leona speak from off to the side,
Winnie's ear twitched. as she turned over to her, " eh, what are you talking about? " asked,
" Oooh, well, I saw that you hit the net when going for that spike " Leona pointed out " ans well, that means no score, so it's still calloways ball, "
winnie stared at her in disbelief.." oh come on I nearly layed a claw on it ! "
" sorry, but it's what I seen, so i call it " Leona said little sheepisly
" ah well...what ever ? "Winnie said brushing a paw at her, acting like she expected her to let it slide being a fellow ghoul and all,
" alright another serve for Calloway. " Leona shouted,
" alright let's show those girls how it's done, " tug said,
Winnie just grumbled to herself she could feel the stares from the others behind her back, but just ignored them as they got ready for the next serve, which baxter got a chance to serve again,
Baxter then tossed the ball into the air and struck it, sending over to the ghouls, this time Phantasma went for it, she floated up and struck the ball , sending it back to Calloway,
Miguel was the one to reach out and try and stop it,, luckily for him he managed strike it, and send it over to Jamel, he then sen it over to Grunt who hit it right over the net,, the ball went whizzing into the air and then started dive bombing straight down onto the ghoul,
" it's coming down for one of you Elsa and Sibella " Miss Grimwood alerted one of them,
" Don't worry miss Grimwood I got this one ! " Elsa shouted. she then jumped up and with a great amount of her strength she stuck the ball,she hit it so hard the ball shot back down like a rocket into the Calloway boundaries
like a meteorite, even leaving a small creator from the impact.
the cadets just stared down at it in utter shock...
" whoa, what a hit ! " tug said not even concerned that it was a point for grimwood, he was so surprised by the force she hit the ball with,
" Grimwood's point! " Leona shouted,
all the ghouls then cheered and congratulated Elsa for scoring them there first point. who just smiled and shrugged like it was nothing,
" alright, Grimwood get's to serve! " Leona stated,
" alright girls I know you can do this, " Miss Grimwood cheered on,
Phantasma was up then to serve, she got in position and was handed the ball, in which the Calloway cadets had to all pry it out of the ground before tossing it to her,
" alright just watch me do my stuff " she exclaimed as she tossed the ball into the air and floated up to meet it, once she was she quickly swatted it and sen it flying over the net,, the Calloway cadets though reacted quick as Jamel was the first to make contact with it, and sent it right back at the grimwoods.
This time The ball went straight down at Winnie, who made sure to be prepared, she jumped back and struck the ball and sent if right back over, only to have Grunt return it back at her with much force, winnie growled as she jumped up and this time used her Feet paw's to kick the ball over the net,
Tug responded to this one and jumped up to hit the ball back over to Grimwood, but Winnie jumped about and managed to hit back again, letting out a growl as she did, Miguel quickly responded and jumped up and spiked the ball just below Winnie who was heavily panting, she then kicked the dirt under her in frustration...
" That'd a score for Calloway, they take the lead again, " Leona shouted..
" alright ! all the way with Calloway ! " the cadets cheered, in there own short celebration..
winnie growled at them and then crossed her arms in a huff...
" hey no need to worry winine, you surely did good with that one. " Miss Grimwood complimented her, " you nearly did that on your own, "
" yeah I guess...but good isn't good enough. " she muttered to herself,
Calloway's serve ! " Leona shouted...
Winnie Sighed, she knew she would need to do better, as well as everyone, she new her uncleaned fur was a steak here, she was going to give this all her best now for sure..
The next half hour of the match wen on with both sides of the team doing just that, putting on there best to keep ahead of the other, for the most both teams were doing fairly well, but every time Grimwood would make a score, calloway would always manage to come back with least two more keeping them ahead most of the time, and things were starting to get very tense for the ghouls, Miss grimwood kept on cheering and trying to coach them through this, she did her best, and they did there best to keep up with calloway, every ghoul at least got one score for the team to say the least, elsa being the first, Winnie being the second, phantasma being the third to do so, and little tanis then got a score the team. this leaving sibella, the only one to not have actually scored yet, and with them being two points away from winnig the game and Calloway being only 1 with a score of 23 to 24 there would never be a better time for her to make that score, and tie the game for Grimwood and hopefully get another thus winning one,,...
so it came down to this, Calloway was just one point of winning, and as both teams getting ready for the final round , tug stood before the other cadets panting and sweating, having starting to become exhausted...
" okay * pant * this is where things have come to my attention. * pant * we managed to keep ahead of those girls for most of the time, but now they are catching up with us, and well, this next score for us would be the game winner " tug said finally catching his breath.
" well what should we do, there not bad for a bunch of girls, " grunt admitted, " that hairy looking one has a lot of energy he said motioning over to Winnie, "
" And the tall one has some strength I never seen before " Miguel said looking over at Elsa, "
" True, but one thing I know we have better then them is Strategy " Tug said pointing out, and I notice one little thing, as well, " he then looked over at sibella with a slightly sinister smirk, " the purple one seems to be the one who has not scored, " tug said grinning at the others, who all suddenly started smirking as well, apparently getting what he was going at,.
Calloway serves ! "
The teams got into positioned again and prepared to play ball, tig took the ball in his hand was the one to serve, he glanced over at the others and nodded as he motioned his head over at Sibella, he then took the ball and aimed it so it'd be sent towards her,
once the whistle was blown tug served the ball and did as he planned he sent it over to Sibella who saw the ball heading right at her,
" be alert Sibella here it comes, " Miss Grimwood yelled "
sibella jumped up and swung her hand to hit the ball, however she missed, but thankfully it instead bounced off her chest and went down towards Tannis who reacted quickly and sent it back over to the Calloway side,
Miguel hit the ball back and tried to make sure it went right back to sibella, who saw the ball coming at her again, she gasped as this time she managed to hit the ball over to phantasma who was beside her, and she managed to send it back over the net and towards grunt who charged at the ball and rammed hit with his head, and send it rocketing into the air and right over towards Elsa's potion who swung at it hard sending it even further up into the air then he did.
When the ball came plummeting back down, all the cadets seemed rather afraid to touch it, save for grunt who looked determined, he dove at the ball and landed right under were it was going to be, the ball came smacking down onto his head and bounced right off and over the net, leaving grunt heavily dizzy...
" way to take on for the team, " Tug said a little shocked. But also glad he did that,..
" watch out Tug ! " Baxter yelled from behind him he then looked up to see the ball approaching him now, tug quickly jumped back and struck the ball ad sent it flying over the net and towards sibella,
sibella who was catching her breath saw the ball, and slightly shrieked, and and without knowing it, she turned into a bat and flew up and hit the ball with her Wing, sending it back over to Calloway, who instead of countering the strike, all looked surprised and shocked to see sibella do that, so much the the ball landed on top of tugs head bounced off and onto the ground...
point for Grimwood ! " Leona yelled " way to go sibella ! " she said cheering for her friend,
" the score is now 24 to 24, the next one wins it, " Winnie barked in excitement,
"ah-ooooo way to goSsibella ! " Winnie actually cheered her
" way to use your ability Sibella ! " phantasma cheered her,
Sibella who was still flapping just awkwardly laughed. Then spoke " uh..yeah no problem " she said before turning back.
Grimwood's serve ! " leona barked,
" Alright Sibella its your turn to serve.." elsa said handing her the ball, "
"" what me ? " Sibella said not sounding to sure,
" yes, come on you can do it, we all have faith in you, " phantasma reassured her,
sibella looked down at the ball then up at her friends, they all seems to think she was able to do this, but to herself, she wasn't sure if she actually could, she was worried, serving was never her stong point for sure, and this moment was the most important of the game.
" don't worry Sibella, I know's you can do it, " Tanis said very sweetly to her, " you knew I could, and I know you can . "
Sibella smiled at her then took a deep breath.. " alright then, lets plat ball, " she said bearing her fangs.
then then got into postponed and aimed her ball, she looked at all the other one last time before doing so, and then throw the ball into the air, there was a moment of silence as the ball came back down and Sibella jumped up to hit it,
Elsa, Tanis, phantasma and Winnie were all watching, standing on edge..* whack ! *
Sibella had made contact with the ball and sent it flying to over the net, the ghouls all cheered as she did, there were no mistakes, the ball flew across the air cleanly , and right over to the cadets, who quickly scrambled to catch it,
tug mad first contact with it and sent it over to Jamel who jumped up to catch it, he smacked it over to grunt who shot it over the net and back into the Ggrimwood boundaries, to which Winnie jumped up and sent it back over at Jamel, who jumped back and hit it over the net again,
winnie growled and jumped up and smacked it against, and sent it right to the Cadets, to which tug jumped forward into a dive and let the ball bounce of his hands, were grunt then swatted it back over the net,
the ball continued to bounce back and fourth between the to teams., not one of the players letting it hit the ground, everyone seemed more determined then ever to not let the ball drop down, specially Winnie who was going in the most counter strikes, it got to be so much that the others players had to stop for a moment to see her so intensely trying to stop the ball.
" I am going to win this " Winnie said as sweat began to form on her...she then looked up to see the ball fast approaching her, Winnie then growled as she took a deep breath as she then jumped for it and smacked the ball hard with all her might sending it right back over to the net with much speed,..
The Calloway cadets all jumped forward at the same time attempting to get the ball, but this resulted in the mistake of them all colliding with one another,. they all piled up as the ball started to plummet right at them,.
Winnie then stood back with a smirk on her face, Jamel then looked up and quickly stood up hoping to stop it, and as the ball was about to come right at him, Baxter jumped out of nowhere and right into his shoulders catching everyone even Jamel by surprise.. , he then spiked then spiked the ball down onto the other side of the net before Jamel lost his balance sending the both on to the them back onto the ground...
There was a complete moment of silence the lasted for what felt like ever...it was until Leona then spoke up...
" Um, Calloway's score...they Win the game with 25 points. " miss Grimwoo'ds floating hand then placed the final score onto the score cared.
All the cadets then let out a loud cheer as Winnie's smirk slowly drifted down into a look of disbelief, her ears then dropped..." we-we lost...after everything I did, and we still lost " she said looking like she was about to faint , to which then she did..,,
As the cadets cheered, colonel Calloway approached miss Grimwood," well miss Grimwood it appears by cadets bested tour girls, but it was a very fair and well, good played game on both parts, I shake your hand in having partake in such events, " he said extending his hand.
" ah, well it was indeed a good one, I guess my ghouls will just have to keep on practicing, they'll eventually come home with the trophy, " miss Grimwood said shaking his hand,
" Right then, now were is that trophy anyway . " the colonel said itching his head, he then looked over to see that is was no longer on the pedestals " hey ! now who went and did took our prize ! " he said alarmed...the then began looking around and noticed that matches was seen dragging the trophy off.. " " gah, hey stop that dog ! he's got my trophy, ! men assemble ! " he said as he began to chase after matches who quickly evaded him with the trophy in hand,
" well, this had certainly been a good one for sure, " tug said getting up and brushing himself off, " never doubted we win once. "
" yeah way to spike the ball " grunt said giving Baxter a thumbs up, " I guess being small means you can still amount to big thing " he said as he pulled out another chocolate bar like from before,
" well sorry to beat you girls. but Calloway will always be number one , so just remember that when ever you think you can beat us with your strange habits, " Tug said while nodding with a smirk,
" MEN ! " Help me ! " they all then heard their colonel yell as he continued to chase matches around..
" eh, well gotta go " Tug said "
" alright then, see ya again real soon " phantasma laughed appearing in front of them..
all the cadets just jumped startled. Tug just awkwardly laugh before they all took off to assist there teacher,..
All the ghouls just watched in slight amusement as they ran off, but then Leona walked up to them.
" hey, I'm sorry about what the losing the game, but hey I think you girls did well, " she said,
" well it is a shame we lost, "sibella said with a slight sigh,"
" but hey, I think we at least our best " Elsa finished
" yeah not to mention is was pretty fun to play against humans, Phantsma giggled
" they sure act strange though " she then added.
" yeah, but well, now don't have a trophy to go and show my parents anymore," Tanis said sounding a little upset,
" Hey no need to worry, we all did our best and well, we can only keep getting better, " Sibella also pointed out,
" yeah, I guess so, " Tanis said still looking down at bit, appareling to still feel a little down,
Sibella just placed a hand on her shoulder. with a warm smile...she then got a light bulb in her head..." say, I might know a way to cheer you up, " she said with a slight mischievous smirk,," would you girls want to hep me with something after this, " she says while looking over at Winnie who was still lying on the ground , her head in a daze.

" After this, miss Grimwood would like to have us all meet her, she says it's important " Sibella said to the others,
" what's it about ? " phantasma asked sounding intrigued,
" Not to sure but she says it has something to do with the volley ball game, maybe she want's to still congratulate us for tying, what do you say Winne ? "
Winne just growled in response as she sat in one of the large wooden bath tubs n the bathing room, covered in bubbles and soap, all while soaking wet..
" She can say what she wants, I knew I could have one the game " winnie grumbled.." and we'd be taking that trophy home , and most of all I would not be in this dumb bath ! " Winnie said crossing her arms, " and really you don't need to help washing me. I can do it On my own "
Sibella then chuckled." well i don't know about that, sense you tried to make a run for it five times already and well a deals a deal right girls " she said to the others,
Winnie just rolled her eyes as Sibella scrubbed her head with a brush,. "
" I just find it funny you actually had to make a bet on such a thing " Elsa giggled to herself,

" yeah i didn't know werewolves didn't like baths, " Tanis said giggling as well,
" we don't it's a common fact, " Winnie barked,
sibella then playfully rolled her eyes, " oh sure wit is " she then winked, while talking in a babyish tone to which Winnie grumbled,
" now don't start that type of tone with me " Winnie barked,
" oh what you mean, dis twype of twone ? " sibella teased, "
" oh it cant be that, I don't see wany thing wrong with it " Phantasma joined in as Winnie just face palmed herself..
Tanis then giggled, " say Sibella do you knows wany bath time songs ? " Winnie's eyes then widened in horror.
" You wouldn't dare! " she glared,
" you mean something like this, Sibella smirked " oh this is the way we wash our Winnie wash our Winnie " she sings while scrubbing her head as the others join in, " and this is the way we scrub her paws, scrub her paws , all through the bath.! " as they all sung, each one scrubbed a different part on her fury body, Sibella washed her hair, Elsa scrubbed her arm, phantasma scrubbed her paws, and Tanis held and have them anything they needed to do so,
when they were all done, they then dumped a bucket of water on her head washing all the soap off her, Winie just sat there unamused while spitting some water out of her mouth,
everyone else just chuckled on response...
a little while later,
after that, Miss Grimwood had called all the ghouls to meet them in the lounge, were they had now all gathered once they were in there, they could all see that the place was all done up, with balloons and banners on the walls,. with one of them reading " well done my ghouls, " if anything, it looked as though a party was about to go on,
The Grimwood girls however had no idea what this was all about, so they wait for miss Grimwood to approach them,
she soon entered the room,
" greetings my ghouls, as you can see, something special is going on here, I have called you all here cause I want to congratulate you for a job well done, " she said cupping her hands and Nodded
" job well done. with no disrespect but didn't we loose ? " Elsa pointed out,
" oh my dear Elsa, it isn't about whether you won or lost, it's about that you all took part in something new, as a team and gave it all your best, and that is what I am proud of, to see you all come together an put effort into this,. you all made me so proud to day, to see toy out there having fun, "
" gee, I guess your right about that, it was really fun to get and try something new like that " Elsa agreed.
" But it still would have been nice to win, " Winnie shrugged, " I mean i did my best out there, and we still lost "
miss Grimwood then warmly smiled " you did try tour best, and I'm glad you did, but don't you worry, you'll get another chances, sense every year we'll be playing off against the Calloway school in these games,"
all the ghouls then looked rather surprised yet delighted to hear this news.,
" We get to play more games with them. that's great ! " phantasma cheered,
" That' means I can still twy and win a trophy to show my mummy and daddy! " Tanis said happily hugging sibella who was nearest to her,
" That's right, you girls did a really good job today, I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before you do, " miss Grimwood said, " and you know what, I'm going to be working on getting you girls a real Gym coach who can teach you all the best things there are to know about volley ball, " she said pondering the idea, " after all I may know a few things being me, " she then chuckled " but I think what you girls need is a real trained gym teacher,
" oh boy that should really gives us the edge to beat those Calloway cadets, " Sibella stated,
" Yeah they won't know what hit them, "
" Now until then my ghouls, lets say we have a little fun tonight in celebration of our knew sports team " miss Grimwood said holding up a camera, "
" Now your talking ! " Winnie said with a howl,
" Matches would you mind ? " miss Grimwood, said over to the dragon who was busily eating the snacks off the snack table that had been set up,
he quickly hopped off the table and over to the record player where he turned it on, and soon the song " Werewolf rock began to play,, miss Grimwood then took a picture of the ghouls all together standing there..as a team...and as friends.

"Present Day"
"And that's the story on how he all met ". Sibella finished saying as they all now stood in the main foyer of the school, onlooking the picture miss grimwood had taken, it was now in a frame with a golden plaque saying Grimwood volley ball team, 1987 .
Wilbie stared up at the picture in amazement, " wow, that was actually a really interesting story, " Wiblie said truthfully
" it's certainly something we girls can never forget, " Sibella nodded.
" it' led to us working hard together as a team to beat those cadet's and earn that trophy,
" Yeah, just to say, we finally did beat them when we got a new gym coach, meaning I finally did get my trophy after all,
Tanis said pointing over to another picture on the wall, one that showed them all together in another group, holing trophy,
Wilbie looked at the picture for a moment, he could see that there was another human with them, only it was an adult, wearing a red shirt, next to him was a great Dane and a much smaller one. " hmm, they look familiar ? " he said rubbing his chin "
" yeah, and ever sense that we been friends " Elsa said breaking his thought..
wilbie then chuckled" I can see that, it was a very fun story to hear, " then smirked as he looked over at winnie, " so I guess I now know why you weren't so fond of telling the story, " he said with a smirk,
Winnie just rolled her eyes. " Alright, now you know why, and now no more need's to be said " she crossed her arms.
" oh come on, loosing the game isn't so bad, but tell me winnie, was it really just a werewolf thing bout you and baths. " he said snickering ti himself,
winnie then growled...then walked off in a huf...,
Wilbie then decided to follow her " hey wait I was just messing around " he said while still snickering,
The rest ghoul girls just laughed as they ran off,, they decided to continue to look at the picture on the wall, Sibella then looked at the others " ya know it was the start of a wonderful friendship. one I'm glad we still have to this day, "
all the others agreed with her on that,
" yeah ghouls brought together by a sport, who would have guessed. " phantasma laughed,
" I just hope we'll always remain friends, no matter what, " Tanis said,
" ah come here you girls, " Elsa said pulling them all into a hug. as they all continued to observe the image that showed the begging of there friendship...
