Warning : see chapter 1
John blew up the cocoon room. They continued their exploration, while the colonel tried to contact the lieutenant a second time. The silence continued.
"Wait, the creature changed direction," reveals Mckay.
"It moves through the air ducts," says John.
"She knows her way better than us. We should go back to the stargate" suggests Teyla.
'Do you want to let it go ?" asks Ronon.
"No, we should contact Atlantis in order to have additional reinforcements to explore the base" suggests the Athosian.
"That's a good plan," Rodney points out.
"In that case, it's like giving up," Ronon mutters.
Kendra placed her hand on his shoulder.
"Teyla is right," John admits. "I'm getting tired of playing hide and seek," he complains.
They exited through a corridor leading to a trap door outside the village. Kendra came out last. She looked around suspiciously. She felt observed. They returned to the stargate.
"No sign of Negley and his men" comments John.
"They wouldn't have left without telling you," adds Kendra.
"It's true," declares the colonel.
"They encountered the creature," Teyla supposes.
Rodney tried to dial an address without success. The DHD was not working.
"The control crystal has disappeared," the scientist admits with concern.
"That's not true," Kendra comments.
"Can't we go back ?" Ronon asked.
"How so ?" Teyla adds with a frown.
"Do something," John orders.
"Look, someone took the crystal to stop us from composing an address," Rodney says.
Footsteps are heard in the corridor, a silhouette forms. She wears a leather tunic as she walks forward quickly. It was Michael. He searched the exploded room with a horrified face. His work went up in smoke.
"So, shall we stay here ?" asked Ronon.
"Yes, Elizabeth will send us reinforcements and we can return to base" replies Rodney.
"It's too long," Sheppard complained.
"We are safe here, the detector informed us of the presence of the creature" adds Teyla.
"She's right, we could establish a perimeter" suggests the scientist.
John looked around, Teyla approached, chatting. Kendra was leaning against the DHD, attendant silently. Ronon noticed that she hadn't said a single word since they returned from the base. She was lost in thought.
Ronon noticed that Rodney kept looking at the signs. The warrior frowns as he approaches the young woman. He took Kendra by the arm, leading her into the woods, away from greetings. Kendra defended herself by crushing his foot.
"Can I know what you're doing ?" she asks, frowning.
He didn't respond, grimacing. He took her wrists, gently pushing her against a tree.
"You haven't said a single word since earlier" he comments.
"So what ?" questions the young woman.
"It's suspicious. You're hiding something," assures Ronon.
Kendra shows a surprised face. She realized that instinct was more developed than she thought. She displays puzzled eyes, arousing his curiosity.
"It's him, right ?" guesses the Satedian
"I-I don't know…" she stutters.
He let go of her wrists while modifying his weapon.
"Are you planning to kill him ? Have you forgotten what binds me to him ?" ask Kendra.
"You should have gotten rid of that link months ago," assures Ronon.
"I don't know how to do it," she reveals.
"In this case, it's a problem that we must resolve," adds the warrior.
"Ronon" calls Kendra.
He turned to her, scowling.
"Be careful, he's angry," assures Kendra.
"He doesn't scare me," declares the warrior.
Kendra showed a weak smile. They came back while John frowned when he saw them.
"Were you busy ?" he asked.
"Forget it" replies Ronon.
"Okay, let's go back underground and find Negley and his men" Sheppard says.
They returned to the underground base. They went down a staircase, Kendra stayed behind with Teyla. Rodney continued to monitor the detector. He walked away and Teyla saw an open door. Kendra followed her without paying attention. The three men continued cautiously. The two women entered, searching the room. The door closed suddenly. The slamming of the door caught the attention of the three soldiers. Ronon turned around noticing the absence of Teyla and Kendra.
"Teyla !" John says.
"Kendra !" proclaims Ronon.
They retraced their steps, running quickly. They tried to open the door but a white mist-like gas attacked them. The monster appeared, screaming fiercely. Teyla shouted as she banged on the door. Kendra has a tight dagger protecting her back. Panic overtook the young woman. She stepped back in front of Teyla. The Athosian turned around and showed Michael's face.
"Michael," Kendra whispers in a hushed voice.
Teyla was petrified before she could intervene. Michael approached Kendra, she didn't blink once as he threatened her with his stun gun. Kendra closes her eyes, turning her head to the side. He lowers his head, touching the young woman's stomach. The gas stopped and the creature disappeared. The three had opened the door but the two women had disappeared. They searched the hallway for several minutes.
Teyla woke up, lying down and strapped to an operating table. Kendra was tied by the wrists, sitting against the wall, unarmed.
"Hello, Teyla," Michael greets.
"Micheal" murmurs the Athosian.
"It's been a long time," he says.
"I thought you were dead," Teyla admits.
"I managed to save myself but if I was really dead, I would have taken Kendra to the grave" recalls the former lieutenant.
"Why did you commit such an experiment ?" asks the prisoner.
"Come on, Teyla, I just have to continue your experiment that you started" Michael replies.
"They did not deserve such an atrocious death," she comments.
"A necessary step to carry out this project" he admits.
"In the evolution of these creatures ?" questions the Athosian.
"You see, today I am hunted as much by the wraiths as by your race" admits the wraith. "You have to protect myself to survive," he adds.
Teyla frowned. She noticed Kendra who had her head down.
"We gave you the choice, you could have come with us" recalls Teyla.
"As a human ? My mind erased by the retrovirus, no" he replies. "I prefer to live the way I want," he emphasizes.
He moved, taking a syringe. He explained his experience, Kendra let out a gasp as she heard the screams of the taranians in her head. She breathed heavily, digging her nails into the palms of her hands.
"Stop !" Teyla shouts.
He looked at the Athosian woman curiously.
"Why are you making her suffer ? What's the point of hurting others !" shouted the Athosian.
Michael growled. Kendra looked up from her nightmare. She looked at Michael with parted lips. She touched her stomach feeling her children kicking. He narrowed his eyes as he approached her. He placed a hand on his stomach while concentrating on the beating. They are looked at for a long minute. Teyla frowned, worried about this moment.
A shrill cry cut this moment off. The creature appeared, worrying Kendra and Teyla. Michael stood up as Kendra backed away from the room. His eyes suddenly glowed, freeing Lyra.
"Don't believe that this is my only creature, I know other planets to continue my experiment" he declares.
A red alarm lit up catching Michael's attention.
"Your friends have arrived," he adds.
With a simple movement of his head, he gave his creature an order. The monster obeyed. He took a silver cage.
"Please don't" implores the Athosian.
"It was you who pushed me to do it" he assures, opening the cage.
An ectoparasite came out of the box. Gunshots rang out again. Alerted, Michael tried to flee. Kendra stood up, pushing him. She stole a scalpel while threatening Michael.
"Lyra" he guesses.
"I'm not going to let you go" assures the young woman with a deep voice.
"Kendra !" Teyla shouts.
The assistant turns to her. Michael quickly slipped away. Ronon fired a blast at the creature, startling both women. Kendra broke free, clenching her jaw.
"Are you doing well ?" John asks, releasing her.
"Yes, but Michael escaped," says Teyla.
"Not for very long," Lyra assures.
"What are you going to do ?" Ronon asked.
"Make him pay for the harm he has caused," replies the young woman, lifting the sleeve of her coat.
She held the scalpel, focused.
"Don't do that," John dissuades.
"If I'm hurt, he will be too. That's the only advantage of being linked to this monster" Lyra says.
"You would only give him satisfaction" comments Ronon.
Kendra looked at Ronon. His eyes shone again. She shows a worried expression as Ronon takes the scalpel from her. She didn't want to hurt herself anymore.
"These computers will give me information," assures Rodney.
"We do not have time !" replies the Satedian.
"Like the number of these monsters and the slightest weak point!" argues the scientist.
Rodney rummaged through Michael's computers, downloading every last bit of important data. Micheal was stalked by Ronon and John. Mckay detected dozens of creatures approaching their position. John ordered them to return to the Stargate.
Teyla, Rodney and Kendra ran into the forest, it was pitch black on the planet. They looked around before being paralyzed by Michael's gun.
"Teyla ! Rodney !" Kendra shouts.
"You don't need to worry about them," he comments.
"I could say the same thing about you," the assistant adds coldly.
"I will take good care of you" assures Michael.
"Go to hell, I would rather die than follow you" declares the young woman.
Micheal groaned hearing the sound of his spaceship. Kendra Ray disappeared in front of him with Teyla and Rodney carried away by the light beam. They eventually returned to the city of Atlantis.
