A/N A short fun little drabble. And yes, I am well aware of the six and half year gap between when this is set and when the movie came out and I know it didn't happen like this in the ROTK book but I like this scene and this is a story about wizards in a magic school, so we can just all pretend. :D just like we all pretend not to notice that Hogwarts is set in Scotland and therefore the lake would be a Loch, not a lake. Anyway enjoy :D

It was a lovely sunny day. Despite the approaching end-of-year examinations, several students were taking advantage of the nice weather. It was just simply too nice a day to be stuck inside studying. Many students had brought their homework and textbooks outside with them to study in the sunshine. Across the lawns in front of the castle, students were lounging in groups. There were several students playing and splashing about in the Black Lake. Several people had their wands out practising varying spells. Groups of students had taken a walk around the lake and along the shores of the lake, there were scattered groups of students. A few students weren't bothering to try to study on such a nice, sunny day and had brought their broomsticks out and were zooming about chasing one another.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione were sitting under the shade of the large oak tree on the grounds. Hermione was diligently working on her Ancient Runes translation. Harry was busy looking up all the Potions they had done this year. Ron wasn't even attempting to do any studying as he claimed it was too nice a day to waste on anything Snape had given them to do. Ginny made no attempt to study either and was sitting stringing daisies together into a long daisy chain with Luna. Neville was practising Charms, which he had been doing a lot better at since their DA meetings last year. Every so often, Hermione would look up and tut at Ron, Ginny and Luna. She mightily disapproved of their not studying this close to their examinations.
"Aren't you going to do any studying at all, Ronald Weasley?" she finally asked, setting down her completed Rune Translation.
"Nope," Ron replied. "Hermione, it's only April. The exams are ages away. You worry way too much about this stuff."
There was a loud bang and a flash nearby. Seamus Finnigan had blown a hole in the lawn, whether it was on purpose or by accident, Harry couldn't tell, but Seamus' face was covered in soot and there was grass in his hair. Harry and Ron snorted with laughter.
"Shut up," Seamus told them, but he too was laughing as Dean Thomas brushed bits of grass off his own robes. "It was deliberate this time I'll have you know."
"No, it wasn't," Dean said. "You were trying to transfigure the daisy into a buttercup."
"Shut it," Seamus said. "They didn't need to know that."

Further along the shore, there was a blinding flash of sunlight as though someone had flashed a mirror into the sun. On the shore nearest them, someone else raised their wand and shouted "Lumos solem". There was another blinding flash of light. Then from further around the lake, they heard another faint cry of "Lumos solem" and another flash of sunlight. Colin Creevey came sprinting along the lawn towards where most of the students were sitting shouting:
"The beacons of Minas Tirith. The Beacons are lit. Gondor calls for aid!"
"And Rohan will answer!" Dean replied, standing up.
"The what?" Ron and Ginny both looked bewildered as Harry and Hermione laughed.
