Fallon feels her back hit a hard floor and hears the doctor speak "Up. Look up." She watches as everyone struggles to their feet on an artificial surface, although the tunnel walls are the same. She doesn't make a move to get up just yet confused for a moment when she sees a hand held above her and sees River looking down at her "Are you okay?" Fallon takes her hand and gets up of the ground "Yeah I think so" Fallon looks around and at the same time her and Amy speak at the same "What happened?" They both ask, they both look at each other and smile, River glances at the two "We jumped." Amy nods still not fully taking in what happened "Jumped where?" The doctor scans his eyes up and down Fallon discreetly making sure she's ok and answers answers Amy with a swift "Up. Up. Look up." Amy does as he says but still asks "Where are we?" River moves over to Amy "Exactly where we were." Amy gives her a look "No we're not." The doctor hears this and fits the urge to roll his eyes at her "Move your feet."
He leans over and sonics a circular hatch in the floor, with six inset lights around it , Amy groans a little getting annoyed at not knowing the full picture "Doctor, what am I looking at? Explain" The Doctor stops and looks over at her "Oh, come on, Amy, think. The ship crashed with the power still on, yeah? So what else is still on?" Fallon stands quietly listening to this and then she looks about she's clicks on "oh" she mutters , she realises they are standing upside down on the hull of the Byzantium.
The Doctor looks over at Fallon hearing the small oh from her mouth and can see the gears working in her mind and he grins at that "Fallon gets it, The artificial gravity. One good jump, and up we fell. Shot out the grav globe to give us an updraft, and here we are."
Octavian growing tired of this discussion and wanting to get moving interrupts saying to him "Doctor, the statues. They look more like Angels now." The doctor hums in agreement "They're feeding on the radiation from the wreckage, draining all the power from the ship, restoring themselves. Within an hour, they'll be an army." Just as he says this the circular hatch opens. and A light goes bang. Fallon flinches a little when it does , takes a deep breath and says a mantra in her head its okay Fallon keep focus stay fast , keep focus always. The doctor stops next to and squeezes her hand "They're taking out the lights. Look at them. Look at the Angels. Into the ship, now. Quickly, all of you." Amy exclaims "uh How?" As soon as she asks The Doctor drops through the open hatch into a circular corridor and from Amy's point of view, he is standing on the side of a vertical tube. "Doctor!" Amy says shocked at his quick move , the doctor however ignores her and gives his orders "It's just a corridor. The gravity orientates to the floor. Now, in here, all of you. Don't take your eyes off the Angels. Move, move, move." Everyone listens and does as he says.
Octavian looks over at his clerics "Okay, men. Go, go, go!" The doctor gets to work on a control panel , Fallon stands next to him and watches him, she feels like a spare part and she doesn't like that feeling she's used to doing something in dire situations. She's brought out her thoughts with Octavian asking "The Angels. Presumably they can jump up too?" The Hatch closes The doctor sighs "They're here, now. In the dark, we're finished." if things couldn't get any worse it does a bulkhead further along the corridor starts to close. The doctor grabs Fallon by her hand and starts to run "Run!" "This whole place is a death trap." Octavian retorts. They don't make it, it closes over "No, it's a time bomb. Well, it's a death trap and a time bomb. And now it's a dead end. Nobody panic. Oh, just me then. What's through here?" Fallon watches him ramble again definitely must be his thing she ponders. River glances over at him "Secondary flight deck."
Amy then realises something and needs to speak it "Okay. so we've basically run up the inside of a chimney, yeah? So what if the gravity fails?" The doctor nonchalantly tells her "I've thought about that." Amy pushes more "And?" Fallon says "We die" at the same time as The doctor says "And we'll all plunge to our deaths. See? I've thought about it. The security protocols are still live. There's no way to override them. It's impossible."
Amy moves closer to Fallon and holds on to her arm, she's always felt safe with Fallon,like she knows that Fallon wouldn't let anything happen to her, Fallon glances at Amy, feeling the emotion of fear coming off her and gives her a smile "It's okay, we will be fine" Fallon promises despite being new in this universe not even a few hours she just has had feeling of everything will be okay in the end.
"How impossible?" River asks as she works. The Doctor contemplates for a moment "Two minutes." They watch as the outer hatch is now open, "The hull is breached and the power's failing" Fallon rolls her eyes as he states the clear obvious, she feels Amy's grip getting harder as the lights start to go out and they see an arm is silhouetted against the open hatch. "Sir, incoming." Amy glances at the doctor still gripping Fallons arms "Doctor? Lights." Fallon feels her hear start to sink a little when the Angel is starting to enter Another flicker, and four are now inside and the hatch is closes behind them. Fallon on instinct pulls Amy further back, as Octavian commands the clerics to keep watching them. The doctor explains to them seriously
"And don't look at their eyes. Anywhere else. Not the eyes. I've isolated the lighting grid. They can't drain the power now." Octavian nods "Good work, Doctor." The doctor claps his hands for a second "Yes. Good, good, good. Good in many ways. Good you like it so far."
"So far?" Amy and Fallon suddenly say at the same time.
The three of them smile slightly at that before the doctor states "Well, there's only one way to open this door. I guess I'll need to route all the power in this section through the door control." Octavian looks over at the doctor "Good. Fine. Do it." Fallon watches as the doctor pauses for a moment and she thinks theres something else he's not said as she thinks this the doctor finally tells them with a sigh "Including the lights. All of them. I'll need to turn out the lights." and there it is, Fallon muses.
Octavian looks at the angels incoming and then at the doctor "How long for?" "Fraction of a second. Maybe longer. Maybe quite a bit longer." The doctor replies back."Maybe?" Octavian doesn't looks to sure on this and Fallon decides to but in "Look I might not completely know him , but I doubt he would suggest doing it if he thought it wouldn't work right?" Fallon gives the doctor a pointed look which the doctor smiles slightly at her, and feels it deep in his hearts hearing her speak up for him despite not knowing him yet "Right... look I'm guessing. We're being attacked by statues in a crashed ship. There isn't a manual for this." Amy shakily leans closer to him "Doctor, we lost the torches. We'll be in total darkness." The doctor squeezes Amy's shoulder "No other way. Bishop."
Octavian runs a hand down his face and turns to River "Doctor Song, I've lost good Clerics today. You trust this man and this... woman?" Fallon rolls her eyes at that and River smirks "oh I absolutely trust them" Octavian nods "They're not some kind of madman and woman, then?" River doesn't falter in her reply "I absolutely trust them" Fallon look a little offended and scoffs "I will have you know I'm not mad, he might be, I am very sensible" as soon as she says that, The doctor , Amy and River all snort at her comment like they know something she doesn't Fallon shoots them a look and The doctor clears his throat "Excuse me."
Fallon stands at the side and she hears Octavian speaking harshly to River "I'm taking your word, because you're the only one who can manage these two and she seems early to do anything yet. But that only works so long as they doesn't know who you are. You cost me any more men, and I might just tell him and I doubt she will trust you then. Understood?" River glances at where Fallon is and nods "Understood." That annoys Fallon deep down she has a feeling she feels she can trust River and she doesn't like the way Octavian speaks to her so she casually gives him smirk "You know, it's funny how often a person's sharp tongue can end up cutting their own throat" As soon as she says it Octavian gives her sharp glare and he turns to the doctor "Okay, Doctor. We've got your back."
"Bless you. Bishop." Octavian turns and commands his clerics "Combat distance, ten feet. As soon as the lights go down, continuous fire. Full spread over the hostiles. Do not stop firing while the lights are out. Shot gun protocol. We don't have bullets to waste." River turns to Fallon and gives her smile "Thanks for that, no matter young or older you never change" Fallon shrugs "it's fine he sounds like a major dick anyway" River chuckles and The doctor taps her on the nose "Language lovely... right Amy, when the lights go down, the wheel should release. Spin it clockwise four turns." "Ten." The doctor shakes his head "No, four. Four turns." Amy looks at him confused "Yeah, four. I heard you." The doctor nods leaving what's going on with Amy for the moment "Ready!" He looks to see where Fallon is first and then he plunges his sonic screwdriver into a control unit.
Octavian waves his hand " On my count, then. God be with us all. Three, two, one, fire!" The lights go out, the Clerics start shooting at the approaching Angels. "Turn!" The doctor commands. "Doctor, it's opening. It's working." Amy calls over to him, they get the bulkhead open just enough to squeeze through. "Fall back!" The doctor tells them, just as he makes it through the bulkhead It clangs shut again he notices Fallon waiting on him and he grabs Fallons hand very tightly and they run along a short corridor and into the secondary flight deck. "Doctor, Fallon, Quickly" River exclaimed rather sternly. The doctor pushes Fallon inside and he manages to dodge inside at the last second, as the door closes, and he runs to the controls. The Angels thump on the door and the wheel starts turning. Fallon leans against the wall to catch her breath and watches as Amy moves towards the doctor "Doctor! What are you doing?" Fallon watches as Octavian places some sort of device on the door and the wheel stops turning. "Magnetised the door. Nothing could turn that wheel now." He says rather smugly and Fallon rolls her eyes once again "I have feeing you are going to be proved wrong" and just as she says that the wheel starts to turn. Octavian steps back in shock "Dear God!" Fallon shakes her head and mutters "yeah doubt he's listening" Doctor lips curl up slightly at hearing Fallons mutter and He looks at Octavian "Ah, now you're getting it. You've bought us time though. That's good. I am good with time."
Amy grips on to Fallons arm again and points toward the second door "Doctor." The wheel on a second door to the right of the main one starts to turn. "Seal that door. Seal it now." Marco the Cleric obeys the order and starts to work on the second door. River whispers "We're surrounded." Octavian orders once again "Seal it. Seal that door. Doctor, how long have we got?" The doctor answers quickly "Five minutes, max." Just as Amy states "Nine." Fallon glances at her closely wondering why she said nine, before she can ask the doctor corrects her "Five" Amy gives him a look "Five. Right. Yeah." The doctor glances at Fallon and sees her staring at Amy and he looks back at Amy "Why'd you say nine?" Amy gives a confused look "I didn't." River decides to get things back on track and adds in "We need another way out of here." Octavian scoffs "There isn't one." Fallon goes to be snarky at him again and The doctor jumps in quickly "Yeah, there is. Course there is. This is a galaxy class ship. Goes for years between planet falls. So, what do they need?" River lightens up "Of course." Amy looks intrigued "Of course what? What do they need?" Fallon nods "yeah what Amy said I'm curious now" Octavian asks the doctor "Can we get in there?" "Well, it's a sealed unit, but they must have installed it somehow. This whole wall should slide up. There's clamps. Release the clamps." The doctor asserted. Amy once again asking what Fallon really want to know "What's through there? What do they need?" River turns to the two girls "They need to breathe."
The rear wall of the flight deck slides up and both Amy and Fallon look at it in wonder Fallon has never seen anything like it "wow... that's just wow"
"But that's. That's a." Amy gasped "It's an oxygen factory." River stated matter of factly. "It's a forest" Amy grinned, River insists once again "Yeah, it's a forest. It's an oxygen factory." The doctor for a moment just watches Fallon looking at the forest , no matter where in the timeline she still has that gleam in her eye every time she sees something new or beautiful and it just makes him smile "And if we're lucky, an escape route." The doctor adds in. "Eight." River whips round and looks at Amy "What did you say?" Amy shrugs "Nothing." both Fallon and River looks at Amy concerned why does she keep saying numbers? The doctor interjects "Is there another exit? Scan the architecture, we don't have time to get lost in there." Octavian takes the command seriously "On it. Stay where you are until I've checked the Rad levels." Amy can't help but laugh a little in glee "But trees, on a space ship?"
The doctor walks over to a tree "Oh, more than trees. Way better than trees. You're going to love this. Treeborgs. Trees plus technology. Branches become cables become sensors on the hull. A forest sucking in starlight, breathing out air. It even rains. There's a whole mini-climate. This vault is an ecopod running right through the heart of the ship. A forest in a bottle on a space ship in a maze. Have I impressed you yet, Fallon Winchester and Amy Pond? "Fallon gives him a smile "alright okay I'm a little impressed" The doctor smile a little smugly at impressing her but his smile drops as soon as he hears Amy saying seven. The doctors walks over to her "seven?" Amy looks puzzled "Sorry, what?" "You said seven" The doctor confirms back to her. Amy shakes her head worried "No. I didn't." "Yes. you did." River says to her. Amy looks to Fallon for reassurance and she takes Amy's arm and gives it a squeeze "I'm sure in the end everything will be okay"
Octavian calls to the doctor "Doctor, there's an exit, far end of the ship, into the Primary Flight Deck." The doctor nods back "Oh, good. That's where we need to go." "Plotting a safe path now." The doctor remarks back "Quick as you like."
As they wait for a clear path , a static noise comes through the radio com "Doctor? Excuse me? Hello, Doctor? Angel Bob here, sir." "Oh fab him again" Fallon mutters, the doctor rubs his hand down her arm before planking him down on the chair "Ah. There you are, Angel Bob. How's life? Sorry, bad subject." Fallon finds her sniggering a little at his words and exchanges a look with River who looks just as entertained as she turns to try and get the console working. "The Angels are wondering what you hope to achieve." The doctor replied lightly "Achieve? We're not achieving anything. We're just hanging. It's nice in here. Consoles, comfy chairs, a forest. How's things with you?" Angel Bob replies rather darkly "The Angels are feasting, sir. Soon we will be able to absorb enough power to consume this vessel, this world. and all the stars and worlds beyond." The doctor replies back in still a light tone but deep down Fallon reckons that's just a cover "Well, we've got comfy chairs. Did I mention?"
"We have no need of comfy chairs." The doctor turns to the girls grinning "I made him say comfy chairs." Fallon can't help it her lips start to twitch into a smile at his antics and Amy snorts before suddenly saying "Six."
Both River and Fallon turn to look at Amy concerned , while the doctor abruptly stands up as speaks into the com "Okay, Bob, enough chat. Here's what I want to know. What have you done to Amy?" Amy again looks confused and Fallon draws her round to face her and looks at her just as Angel Bob says "There is something in her eye." "What's in her eye?" The doctor demands down the com. "We are." Fallon automatically feels a shiver down her spine as he says that.
Amy turns to the doctor anxiously as he peers into her eyes, she grips Fallons hand and she asks him warily before her voice come more panicked as she speaks "What's he talking about? Doctor, I'm five. I mean, five. Fine! I'm fine." You're counting." River tells her in a shaky tone. " Counting?" Amy asks in small voice. Fallon nods not trying to show her too much worry "yeah it's like you are counting down to something" The doctor nods in agreement "You have been for a couple of minutes." Amy takes a deep breath and asks in a forced calm which surprises Fallon "Why?" The doctor shakes his head "I don't know." Amy not happy with that answer asks again "Well, counting down to what?" Fallon glances from the doctor to Amy again when he shakes his head once again "I don't know."
His comm crackles again and the damn Angels voice comes through once again like some horror movie "We shall take her. We shall take all of you. We shall have dominion over all time and space." The doctor steps away from the girls and flops himself back onto the chair and snaps into the com "Get a life, Bob. Oops, sorry again. There's power on this ship, but nowhere near that much." and just like that the fat controller laughed Fallon thinks to herself , as Angel Bob replies "With respect, sir, there's more power on this ship than you yet understand." The whole group jumps when hear an awful screeching sound. "What's that? Dear God, what is it?" River cries out. "They're back." Octavian warns.
They all look around them wildly trying hard to fight the paralysing fear that's threatening to grip them at the horrific noise "It's hard to put in your terms, Doctor Song, but as best I understand it, the Angels are laughing." "Laughing?" The doctor and Fallon ask at the same time "Because you haven't noticed yet, sir, ma'am. The Doctor and The seer in the Tardis hasn't noticed." Fallon frowns in thought there's that name again. The doctor stands up and Octavian says to him warningly "Doctor." The doctor cuts him off "No. Wait. There's something I've missed." They hear a crackling sound and turn to look and see a steaming stretched W-shaped crack in the bulkhead above the entrance, and it is widening as it continues.
As they stare at the crack the doctor rushes over to examine it, Fallon follows him and Amy follows her, Fallon stares at it , it's different from the crack in the gas station , this one makes her feel sick , like it's wrong. She steps away from it and the doctor clocks her move but before he can ask Amy speaks up
"That's, that's, that's like the crack from my bedroom wall from when I was a little girl." Bedroom wall? "Yes. Two parts of space and time that should never have touched." The doctor whispers still thinking, thousands of thoughts flying about in his head, here was this crack , which others seem to know about it but he doesn't, he doesn't like not knowing.
The room starts to shake as the crack in wall crackles and start to widen , the group reach out to grab a piece of equipment in the room trying to keep upright and not fall, Octavian takes control and calls out sharply "Okay, enough. We're moving out." River replies instantly siding with Octavian for once "Agreed. Doctor?" "Yeah, fine." He says absentmindedly as he makes his way back over to the crack. "Maybe you shouldn't go near it, you should stop and just come please" Fallon says staring at the crack as she backs away, The doctor glances at Fallon and his hearts hurt with the slight tone of fear in her voice but he needs to know, so he turns back to the crack and he starts to scan it. "What are you doing?" River demands "Right with you." the doctor says back still scanning the crack.
River shakes her head and scoffs "We're not leaving without you." The doctor glances back and snaps "Oh yes, you are. Bishop?"
Octavian nods and calls sharply "Miss Pond" before looking at Fallon and River, "Seer, Doctor Song, now!" The name this time goes over Fallons head , she's too busy staring at the doctor, worried for a man she hardly knows standing at a crack that makes her feel weird... she sees River grabbing on too Amy's arm to get her to move "Doctor?" Amy calls as River continues to pull her forward "Come on!" Fallon still doesn't move "Please Doctor, just leave it" The doctor glances at Fallon and his eyes soften before he motions to Octavian to take her "I will always come back to you lovely.. but you need to go!" Octavian grips Fallon by the arm and pulls her towards the Forest and this time she doesn't argue and follows on with the others.
The doctor stares at the crack and continues to sonic it "So, what are you?" He glances down to read the readings on the sonic "Oh, that's bad. Ah, that's extremely very not good." He stands up and leans on the wall when a shiver goes down his back, He turns around to find himself surrounded by Angels. Oh Fallon is going to kill me.. he frets in his mind "Do not blink." He reminds himself , just as he starts to dodge the angels as he makes his way across the room towards the forest the only means to escape when one of angels grabs the back of his jacket collar. "Argh!"
As They continue to walk Fallon keeps looking behind her worriedly, a million thoughts and feelings going through , she can't seem to prioritise them, she's suddenly brought out her reverie with the sound of Rivers panicked voice "Amy? Amy, what's wrong?"
Back at the Secondary flight deck the Doctor sighs and ponders as he glances at the Angels "Why am I not dead then?" The doctor sees the Angels are reaching towards the crack, their arms are raised at it like they are basking in it as if they can't get enough The doctor mutters "Good, and not so good. Oh, this isn't even a little bit good. I mean, is that it? Is that the power that brought you here? That's pure Time Energy. You can't feed on that. That's not power, that's the fire at the end of the universe. It also made Fallon uneasy... why? And I'll tell you something else" Suddenly there's a bang and the rocks giving the doctor the opportunity to escape by slipping his arms out his jacket and running into the forest without it calling out "Never let me talk!"
Back in the forest Fallon notices how pale Amy looks and she reaches out to help her. "Amy, what's wrong?" River asks her shakily. The young redhead looks at them both and just blurts out "Four." She sways and sits down, then lies on the mossy tree trunk. "Med scanner, now." River demands, as Fallon sits down and strokes the redheads hair to comfort her as Amy lets out a small whimper.
One of the clerics hands River and Rover begins to set it up, Octavian doesn't seem happy about this and abruptly warns her "Doctor Song, we can't stay here. We've got to keep moving." Fallons scoffs at that and it takes everything in her not to punch him in the face at his sheer harshness, man of god my ass River glances at Fallon before replying back "We wait for the Doctor." Octavian doesn't take to kindly to that and hisses back "Our mission is to make this wreckage safe and neutralise the Angels. Until that is achieved-"
River interrupts his bullshit and speaks firmly to him "Father Octavian, when the Doctor's in the room, your one and only mission is to keep him alive long enough to get everyone else home." She finishes wrapping the scanner around Amy's arm and continue on speaking "And trust me, it's not easy. Now, if he's dead back there," When she's says that Fallon take a sharp intake of breath something about that doesn't sit right on her thinking of him as dead, River glances at her with a small smile "Fallon here or even the Fallon in future would never forgive me, she means to much for that kind of hurt and frankly I'll never forgive myself. And if he's alive, I'll never forgive him." Fallon looks at her a little surprised how close is she too these people?
She looks up behind River and notices the doctor, she sighs with relief and it's like River seen this coming and remarks "And, Doctor, you're standing right behind me, aren't you?" The doctor smirks and replies nonchalantly "Oh, yeah." River rolls her eyes "I hate you." "You don't." The doctor replies as he walks over before leaning down and pressing as kiss to the top of Fallons head, a move which makes Fallon tense up and a little confused at, The doctor seems to sense that and hastily turns to Octavian "Bishop, the Angels are in the forest." Octavian turns and orders his men "We need visual contact on every line of approach."
The doctor sits down next to Fallon and starts to examine Amy while Rivers asks him "How did you get past them?" "I found a crack in the wall and told them it was the end of the universe." He replies back quietly. Fallon gives him a look of surprised horror when she thinks of what that crack actually means, while Amy asks in a whisper "What was it?" "The end of the universe." The way he phrases it so calmly makes Amy shake a little and Fallon continues to stroke her hair to try and keep her calm the doctor leans over to Amy and gently murmurs "Let's have a look, then." "So, what's wrong with me?" Fallon gives her a reassuring smile and River consoles her gently Nothing. You're fine." While the doctor bluntly tells her as he reads the scanner "Everything. You're dying." River looks up at him shocked "Doctor!" Fallon kinda gets where he's coming from when he says back Yes, you're right. If we lie to her, she'll get all better." Fallon adds in "well he ain't exactly wrong, people fight to survive more if they know the truth what's happening to them" River sighs and The doctor nods and starts to look closer at Amy "Right. Amy, Amy, Amy. What's the matter with Amelia? Something's in her eye. What does that mean? Does it mean anything?"
Amy whimpers some more "Doctor... Fallon" Fallon takes her hand and gives it a squeeze "I'm here" before giving the doctor a glare when he replies back with "Busy." "Scared." Amy retorts back and the doctor sighs
"Course you're scared. You're dying. Shut up." Fallon pings him on the arm soothing people obviously isn't his strong suit in dire situations, he gives her a glare back with no real heat in it. "Okay, let him think." River soothes to Amy.
The redhead grips on to Fallons hand and looks up at her "Fall" Fallon looks down at her "sssh it's okay, everything is going to be okay , promise, you can do this brave wonderful Amy Pond yeah?" Amy nods and still keeps a grip on her hand like an anchor for her nerves.
"What happened?" The doctor mutters to himself as he thinks "She stared at the Angel. She looked into the eyes of an Angel for too long"
Marco one of the clerics at that moment shouts "Sir! Angel incoming." "And here." Another reports , "Keep visual contact. Do not let it move." Octavian shouts back and turns back to the situation the doctor is dealing with.
The doctor stands up and starts to pace , he thinks better when pacing a trait he's actually picked up from Fallon in the past it's rubbed off on him "Come on, come on, come on. Wakey, wakey. She watched an Angel climb out of the screen. She stared at the Angel and, and..."
"The image of an Angel is an Angel." Amy says back in a croaky voice and Fallon gives her a impressive smile at her thinking. The doctor clicks his fingers "A living mental image in a living human mind." Fallon decides to peer down at Amy remembering the something in her eyes, as soon as she looks in them , her own eyes widen when she sees the angel in the redheads eyes "um doctor" Fallon calls trying to get his attention but he goes on thinking out aloud "But we stare at them to stop them getting closer. We don't even blink, and that is exactly what they want. Because as long as our eyes are open, they can climb inside. There's an Angel in her mind." "Doctor" Fallon calls again a little more forceful and this gets his attention now that he realises what he's just said and clasps his hand over his mouth, as he sits down looking at the face of an Angel that is visible in Amy's pupil, just as Amy says "Three."
The doctor jumps up again his mind racing, "Fallon! Doctor!, it's coming. I can feel it. I'm going to die." Amy whispers as Fallon tries to comfort her.
"Please just shut up. I'm thinking." The doctor replies as he stares in the distance before picking the com up and speaking to Angle Bob once again "Now, counting. What's that about? Bob, why are they making her count?" The voice of Bob comes through coldly replying back "To make her afraid, sir." The Doctor asks back a little impatiently "Okay, but why? What for?"
"For fun, sir." Angel Bob replied casually, this makes the doctor angry and her growls a little before he throws the communicator away in annoyance. This catches Fallons attention and she gives Amy's hand a quick squeeze before she stands up and pulls the doctor to face her "stop , time to calm down and focus and think fast and calm, they want you mad and out of focus, don't give them it, got it?" The doctor stares at Fallon for a long moment before leaning in and pressing a thankful kiss to her forehead, for reminding like always. Fallon doesn't tense this time at the kiss and he turns back to Amy as she asks flatly "Doctor, what's happening to me? Explain."
The doctor bends down in front of Amy "Inside your head, in the vision centres of your brain, there's an Angel. It's like there's a screen, a virtual screen inside your mind and the Angel is climbing out of it, and it's coming to shut you off..." He admits to Amy , as River looks between him and Amy in alarm, Amy glances over at Fallon, and Fallon sits back down next to her and offers her hand back to Amy which she gladly takes "Then what I do?" Amy whispers to him.
The doctor takes a moment to think before saying "If it was a real screen, what would we do? We'd pull the plug. We'd kill the power. But we can't just knock her out, the Angel would just take over." River gives him a look and demands "Then what? Quickly." The doctor continues rattling off his thoughts "We've got to shut down the vision centres of her brain. We've got to pull the plug. Starve the Angel." River looks back at the med scanner and shakily tells him "Doctor, she's got seconds." "How would you starve your lungs?" The doctor wondered and River answers back quickly " I'd stop breathing-" The Doctor quickly interjects "Amy, close your eyes."
Fallon watches and starts to feel a little anxious as Amy moans "No. No, I don't want to." The doctor leapt in at that and leans and urgently tells her "Good, because that's not you, that's the Angel inside you. It's afraid. Do it. Close your eyes." Amy glances at Fallon and she's nods her head encouragingly, and Amy squeezes her eyes shut, they all watch her anxiously and the med scanner starts to beep and changes from red to green. They all sigh with a little bit of relief and River looks from it to them and tells them "She's normalising. Oh, you did it. You did it." unfortunately the brief moment of calm relief is ruined when Marco the cleric calls over "Sir? Two more incoming." "Three more over here." Another adds in, Octavian glances over at the three huddled around Amy, as River checks the med scanner again and shakes her head "Still weak. Dangerous to move her." Fallon starts to feel overly anxious and deep down she's not sure if it's just hers she's feeling and she bites her lip to centre herself and the doctor seems to notice and he leans over and gives her a quick squeeze "So, can I open my eyes now?" Amy asks them , Fallon stares down at the redhead with a frown and The doctor holds Amy by the face "Amy, listen to me. If you open your eyes now for more than a second, you will die."
Fallon leans down and strokes Amy's hair while River wraps her arm around her holding her reassuringly , The doctor continues "The Angel is still inside you. We haven't stopped it, we've just sort of...paused it. You've used up your countdown."
He looks down at the ground briefly before he finishes seriously "You cannot open your eyes." He gives her shoulder a squeeze when Octavian pipes up warningly "Doctor, we're too exposed here. We have to move on." Fallon draws him a look , as the doctor snaps back "We're too exposed everywhere. And Amy can't move. And anyway, that's not the plan." River looks up at him "There's a plan?" and Fallon rolls her eyes slightly as the doctor remarks back "I don't know yet. I haven't finished talking. Right!"
He jumps up and glances around at the clerics "Father, you and your Clerics, you're going to stay here, look after Amy. If anything happens to her, I'll hold every single one of you personally responsible, twice."
He warned before he continues on "River, you, Fallon and I..we're going to find the Primary Flight Deck which is..." Fallon gives him a weird look as he wets a finger and holds it up, before pointing in a direction "A quarter of a mile straight ahead, and from there we're going to stabilise the wreckage, stop the Angels, and cure Amy." River looks at him quizzically "How?" The Doctor shrugs at her "I'll do a thing." "What thing?" River retorts back. The doctor sighs "I don't know. It's a thing in progress. Respect the thing. Moving out!"
Fallon stares down at Amy and she feels bad leaving her , she knows Amy knows her well even though she doesn't know the redhead ,and doesn't know if she should leave her here on her own with these clerics, Octavian walks towards the doctor "Doctor, I'm coming with you. My Clerics'll look after Miss Pond. These are my best men. They'd lay down their lives in her protection." The doctor looks at him and says flatly "I don't need you." Octavian replies just as flat back "I don't care. Where Doctor Song goes, I go." The doctor glances between River and Octavian "What? You two engaged or something?" He says derisively.
River looks a little alarmed at that when Octavian glances at her before saying "Yes, in a manner of speaking." The doctor raises his eyebrows at that and gives a look of amusement, while River grimaces at the thought, Octavian turns away to gives orders and says "Marco, you're in charge till I get back." "Sir" Marco replies in affirmative.
Fallon at this point as droned out of the conversation on what she should do when she hears Amy's plea to the doctor about coming with them. Octavian calls over his shoulder to Amy bluntly "You'd slow us down, Miss Pond." Fallon sends him a look of annoyance and notices the doctors hand curled in to fists at the mans words. Amy scoffs a little "I don't want to sound selfish, but you'd really speed me up." Fallon gives a smile at that and makes her choice and clear her throat "Actually doctor, I'm going to stay with Amy."
The doctor and River both turn and give Fallon a look , and the doctor frowns and walks up to her "Fallon... Lovely... you should come with me please..." He can see the adamant look on her face and knows there's no changing it, He runs a hand down his face "fine change of plans, I stay here too-" Fallons scoffs "No you are needed... you are only one by the sounds of it that can fix this" The doctor eyes soften and he runs the back of his hand along her cheek but stops when he sees Fallon freeze a little "you are so early... but okay" "Are...you sure Fallon ... you should go with them" Amy asks shakily, Fallon looks away from the doctor and down at her and asks her "are we close in the future?" Amy gives a nod "yeah pretty close" "there's your answer Amy, I don't leave friends or family behind" Fallon says as she sits down next to Amy. The doctor smiles slightly at her words before speaking again to Amy "We can't protect you on the move. I'll be back for you soon as I can, I promise." Amy mutters back "You always say that... but I suppose you won't leave Fallon." The doctor sighs "I always come back... whether Fallon is here or not" Fallon gives Amy's hand a squeeze and says in good humour "I'll kick his ass if he doesn't" Amy gives a chuckle back and The doctor nods "Good luck, everyone. Behave. Do not let that girl open her eyes. And keep watching the forest. Stop those Angels advancing. Amy, later... Fallon keep safe..River, going to need your computer!"
Fallon leans back on the tree next to Amy when suddenly the doctor appears again, but Fallon notices he has a jacket back on weird... she watches as he kneels down in front of Amy "Amy, you need to start trusting me. It's never been more important." Amy shakes her head "But you don't always tell me the truth." The doctor smiles sadly "If I always told you the truth, I wouldn't need you to trust me."
"Doctor, the crack in my wall. How can it be here?" The doctor sighs again "I don't know yet, but I'm working it out. Now, listen. Remember what I told you when you were seven?" Amy feels confused "What did you tell me?" The doctor shakes his head "No. No, that's not the point. You have to remember." The doctor stands up while Amy asks "Remember what? Doctor? Doctor?"
The doctor walks over to Fallon and Fallon gives him a small smirk "nice jacket" The Doctor laughs quietly she always knows a even when she doesn't know "oh my Fallon , my beautiful Fallon, so much still to come..." Fallon looks at him "you seem sad" He gives her a small smile and takes her hand and presses kiss to her wrist before staring back at her taking every detail of her in, Fallon stares back at him lost at the look in his ancient looking eyes "I tried so hard Lovely so hard..." Fallon tries to give him a reassuring smile "nah I'm sure it's not that bad nothing that can't be solved right?" The doctor smiles back at her , he knows she's early but of this is going to be last time then he's taking it...he leans forward and presses a gentle kiss to her lips before stepping away and disappearing through the forest , Fallon stays where she is a little puzzled at what just happened.
Fallon shakes herself out of her puzzlement and looks down at Amy "how doing sweetheart?" Amy reaches out for Fallons hand and she takes it " I could be better , but what's happening? Anything happening out there?" Fallon goes to answer but then notices the lights start to flicker and looks at the cleric called Marco for an answer and she hears him speak to the other cleric saying "The Angels are still grouping. Are you getting this too?" "The trees? Yeah." Comes the reply from the other Cleric, Amy starts to panic and grips Fallons hand "What's wrong with the trees? What is it? What's happening? Tell me. I can't see." Fallon looks down at Amy and whispers "I think it's the angels , I think they are doing something" Marco gives a nod that she's correct "It's the trees. ma'am's . The trees are going out."
