Tsume watched as Hiruzen handed the bundle in his arms to Fugaku. The man held it gently, shifting it so he held it more secure against his chest. The bundle moved as bright blue eyes opened. The baby looked at the man who was holding him. Moving his gaze he noticed other people around him. A man with a lazy smile looked down at him with another man next to him with blond hair.

The three men were smiling at him. Were they happy? His gaze moved around the room until he noticed that man. The one who was with him many times before. The old man who treated him with what he knew was sadness. Why was he always sad? He continued to look around and then he noticed her.

That woman. He remembered her. She had that soft thing that made him giggle. He smiled as he made happy noises. Moving his tiny arms free of the blanket he made grabbing motions to her. She smiled as she came closer. She brought her hand up to him and he grabbed it. Her finger was so much bigger than his.

With her other hand she rubbed his head gently. He felt safe with those people. He felt like they'd never harm him. Slowly he fell back to sleep. Soon he'd be in the arms of the woman who'd he'd call his mother, though he didn't know now that yet.
