Jim and the bridge crew go to Iowa to meet Jim's mother. When they get there Wionna ask Jim to clean out the attic. In doing so Jim finds a leather bound book written by Amanda Grayson, Spock's mother. In the book it tells of how Sarek and Amanda met and eventually fell in love. After telling the crew about it; Spock suggests that Jim reads it to them.

While I was writing my story This Is How We Met; I received a review asking me to write it from Sarek's point of view. So here it and I am sorry that the first chapter is so short.

It's "Bring Your Kid to Work" day. Admittedly, Jim had forgotten that he'd even signed off on the holiday request, and it probably breaks about fifty Starfleet regulations, inviting kids aboard a starship. But somehow...he doesn't regret a thing. Or: Sulu brings his kid aboard, and everyone melts.
