"The Trinity Begins"

It was an exciting night for a teenager named Anne Boonchuy. Tonight was her 13th birthday, and her parents had planned a wonderful party. Anne invited her best friends, Sasha Waybright and Marcy Wu, to the festivities. Also, there were Twig Westwood and his younger sister Molly, as well as Haddie and Brodie. All were students at St. James Middle School in Los Angeles. The guests gave Anne her presents, had authentic Thai cuisine cooked by Mr. and Mrs. Boonchuy, sang when she blew out her candles, and played many party games. Afterwards, the kids relaxed in the backyard.

"Great party, Anne." Twig said.

"Glad you could invite us all." Molly added.

"Thanks for all your gifts, guys," Anne told her friends, "but there's something that's been bugging me all day."

"Is it what the principal told you about what you want to do with your life?" Marcy asked.

"Yeah, I don't know what I want to do." Anne said. "GIVE ME A SIGN!"

Brodie looked up. "Uh, what's that?" he said, pointing. The others looked and saw what appeared to be a meteor streaking towards them!

"INSIDE!" Sasha yelled. The teens ran into the house. CRASH! The meteor hit the ground, making a crater. Twig peeked through the door.

"Is it safe?" he asked. The group stepped outside, followed by Domino, the Boonchuys' cat.

"Whoa, think something's inside?" Haddie wondered. Her question was answered when the meteorite split open. A blinding light filled the yard as a sphere of pure energy surrounded by three gemstones emerged.

"WHAT THE HECK IS THAT THING?!" Molly yelled. The sphere turned to Domino, and entered her body!

"GET OUT OF MY PRECIOUS BABY!" Anne yelled. Just then, Domino began to speak!

"There is no need to fear me." the cosmic voice said. "I have come to your world for a special purpose."

"Who are you?" Anne asked.

"I am the Guardian of the Multiverse." Domino said. "You, Anne Boonchuy, are one of three beings chosen to use the power of these." The gemstones floated in front of Anne, Sasha and Marcy.

"What are they?" Marcy asked.

"The Calamity Gems." Domino continued. "I made them so their powers could be used by mortals. The green one represents wit, the blue one symbolizes heart, and the red one means strength. Anne, you and your two best friends are the ones to use the gems to keep your world safe from evil."

"We get to be superheroes?!" Marcy squealed. "This is so exciting! We are in!"

"Wait a minute. Why us?" asked Sasha.

"Because the three of you have a bond strong enough to be considered worthy of this power." Domino said. "Touch the gems to each other."

Marcy grabbed the green gem eagerly. Anne and Sasha took hold the blue and red ones, respectively. The girls touched the gems together, and a multicoloured flash lit up the neighbourhood. The others cover their eyes. When the light faded, they saw an amazing sight!

Anne, Sasha, and Marcy opened their eyes. They were floating above the ground, and their hair was glowing in the colours of the gemstones. Their eyes glowed too. But when they looked at themselves, Anne and Sasha screamed in shock!

"We're… fused together!" Anne yelled. All three girls' heads were on a single body with Marcy on the right shoulder, Sasha on the left, and Anne between them. They wore a suit of armour with the gems in a triangle formation on the breastplate. A cape flowed down their back.

"This…is…AWESOME!" Marcy yelled in ecstasy. "I always wanted to share a body with you two!"

"How are you not freaking out?! We're some superpowered mutant!" Sasha snapped.

Domino floated up to them. "Do not be afraid." she said. "Your fusion is the result of your friendship being enhanced by the gems' power. They were meant to combine those who wield them."

"EEEEE!" Marcy squealed. She was clearly enjoying this. "What powers do we have?" She tried to make them fly, but they just spun around in a circle.

"HOW DO WE GET APART?!" Anne cried.

"Just touch the gems again." Domino said. The girls did, and they returned to their normal separate bodies. They fell to the ground.

"Aw, why'd you stop?" Marcy asked.

"That was so freaky." Anne said.

"Are you kidding? You guys looked so cool!" Twig said.

"I never saw you three with such awesomeness!" Molly added. "Do we get superpowers, too?"

"Sorry, but only three gems were created." Domino said. She turned to the trio. "Now then. You have been given these powers to fight whatever forces of evil threaten your world. You must learn to use them if you are to preserve peace."

"You mean we have to fuse again?" Anne mumbled.

"Yes, but with practice you shall become stronger." Domino said. "I shall stay on Earth in your cat's body to serve as your guide. I will teach you how to use the power of the gems. When they glow faintly, that means you are needed."

The girls noticed that they wore the gems as pendants around their necks. "Well, Anne, I guess you got your sign." Marcy grinned.

Anne was speechless. Her life had changed in a very big way.

Meanwhile, in another world, there was a city called Zootopia. It was inhabited by all sorts of anthro non-primate mammals. A young adult lion named Daniel lived there with his best friends Bryan and Jordan, who were a wolf and a fox, respectively.

That very same night, they were enjoying a guys' night out at one of their favourite hangouts, Wild Times, an amusement place made for predators like them. They played all sorts of games, rode on rides, and ate some pretty good food. As the animals of this world had evolved and become civilized, predators stopped hunting prey, and became adapted to live on insects and seafood instead.

Daniel took a bite of the grasshopper pizza he ordered. "What a great night!" he said to his pals.

"It sure is!" Bryan added. Just then, his keen nose picked up a strange yet attractive scent. He got down on all fours and followed it out the door. Daniel and Jordan followed him.

"What's he tracking?" Daniel asked.

"I don't know, but he's on its trail." Jordan added. They followed their friend into a downtown alley. They saw a bright disk of light in front of them.

"It's coming from this!" Bryan said. Suddenly, tranquilizer darts shot out of the disk and into the three friends. They immediately fell unconscious to the ground. A shadow fell over them.

They didn't know it, but their destiny would be linked with that of another trio of best friends, not just of the opposite gender, but a different species altogether.
