Digimon are back again
Haru: When we went to the Digital World again, we had Yolei and Hawkmon join us. When we got there, we saw that IceDevimon did some damage to the place. Amanda was still having a hard time opening up. She just didn't quite understand why Labramon cared so much about her, and Yolei tried to get her to see that it wasn't that hard to believe. When they were attacked by IceDevimon, Amanda began to see how much Dobermon cared when he was willing to risk his life for her and she tried to return the favor. I guess she's not as cold as we thought.
"Home Truth"
Another day, another chance for adventure or some sort of problem. As for Taka, the problem was more at home. He woke up for the day, he stepped out of his bedroom and saw a note on the table for him. He already knew what this was about.
"Taka, working late tonight. Should be plenty of money for you to order takeout." Taka read, but he was rather upset about that.
"A note from your mother?" Ponymon questioned as he stepped out.
"Yeah. It's nothing new." Taka said as he tried to sound like it didn't bother him. "Ever since Mom got the job as a newswoman, this has happened a lot." Nothing much Taka can do, he just gathered whatever he could and just got ready for the day. Once Taka got himself ready, he and Ponymon tried getting to school with it looking like Ponymon was just a normal horse.
"Taka! Wait up!" The two of them turned around and saw Haru and Dorumon show up.
"Morning." Taka said.
"You want to grab a place for breakfast?" Haru asked.
"No time. I need to get to school." Taka said.
"Shouldn't you be doing the same, Haru? You don't got to the same school as others." Ponymon said.
"Don't worry about me." Haru said, but then noticed something with Taka. "You okay, Taka? You look like there's something bothering you."
"It's nothing." Taka said.
"Taka, be honest with your friends." Ponymon said. "Taka is a little upset that his mother won't be home. She works as something called a newswoman is often busy. She isn't home that much, which is how Taka can sneak me around the apartment."
"Easy, Ponymon. It's nothing." Taka said.
"If I were you, I just be glad you have your mother around, even if it's a little." Haru said.
"What do you mean?" Taka questioned.
"Haru, is it because..." Dorumon was about to say something, but Haru stopped him.
"It's nothing. By the way, I don't think I can make it over today. I've got some things I need to do." Haru said as he just left things at that and went the opposite direction Taka had to go, but Taka is wondering what is going on.
...
Odaiba Elementary
Taka went on to school with the digimon hiding out. When he arrived, he thought something was rather odd about Haru when he saw him earlier. As he had a seat at his desk, he thought it over and knew something was off.
"Something wrong, Taka?" Ben asked as he and Mary had a chat with him.
"I'm just doing some thinking." Taka said. "Hey, did Haru ever tell you guys where he goes to school?"
"No. Why?" Mary asked.
"It's sort of weird. He's always nearby, but he doesn't go to school here." Taka said. "If he doesn't, what school does he go to? Also, whenever it sounds like Dorumon is about to say something relevant to it, Haru stops him from talking. It's like there's something Haru doesn't want us to know about. Don't you think that's rather weird."
"I guess now that you mention it...it is rather strange." Mary said as she thought it was weird they're working with Haru, but they know little about him. "I wonder why he won't tell us anything."
"I'm sure he has his reasons." Ben said. "Anyway, the computer room is going to be used for detention today, so we can't use it. We still need to talk about what our next move is going to be against Mistymon?"
"No worries." Taka said. "My mom is working late and won't be home. It's just her and me, so we can meet at my place. We don't have to worry about hiding the digimon either."
"Sounds great. We'll let Amanda know and can head over there. We also need to find a way to let Haru know." Ben said.
"He said he can't make it today. He's got something going on. Looks like it's just going to be us." Taka said. It sounded good to them, but what Taka said earlier had Mary thinking about Haru. Why is it there's something Haru doesn't want the others to know about?
...
Later
Once school ended, Mary and the others headed on over to Taka's place so no one can disturb them. They just needed to sneak their digimon out of hiding and managed to get them out of the school. Once they did that, they headed on over.
"Is it really okay for us to come over while your Mom is out?" Amanda asked.
"Just don't make a mess and she won't even know." Taka said.
"It's too bad Haru and Dorumon won't come over to join us." Labramon said.
"Yeah... About that..." Mary said as she came to a stop. "I'm sorry, but I've got something to do myself. You guys are going to have to go on without me." She said and then took off with the others wondering what is going on.
"Mary? Is something wrong?" Kudamon asked.
"It's Haru. I'm just a little curious as to what's going on with him." Mary said. "It's true that we know very little about him. If we're going to be a team, we should know each other and trust each other. I'm also a little worried there's something going on that he doesn't want us to know about. He could be in trouble or something."
"Don't you think you're overthinking it? You should trust Haru." Kudamon said.
"I do. I'm just a little curious about him." Mary said.
"But you know what that does to a cat, don't you?" Kudamon said. Mary can't really explain it herself. All she knows is that she wants to get to know Haru a little more.
"We're just going to to find Haru and make sure everything is okay with him." Mary said.
"But that's spying. You can't spy on your friends." Kudamon said as he didn't like this, but Mary was doing it. So, she pulled out her digivice and used a function on it that allowed her to track where Haru was. Ignoring Kudamon's disapproval, she went on ahead and went to find Haru.
...
Haru
Mary went through with it and used her digivice to try and track Haru's movements. Rather than finding him at a school she found him on the streets and was acting casual. She also tried to keep herself hidden. She followed Haru around and it seemed like everything was normal, like how he paid for some food and was taking it home. He even had Dorumon come out of hiding and gave some of the food to him.
"Mary, this is all kinds of a bad idea." Kuramon said. "Why don't you just go over and talk to him since he's your friend?"
"Taka said that every time Dorumon is about to reveal something about Haru, Haru stops him." Mary said. "Haru doesn't want us to know something."
"So can't you just respect that?" Kudamon questioned. Mary knows she should, but she can't help herself. There's just something about Haru that's...enticing to her. That's why she kept following Haru around. There was nothing too out of the ordinary. She even saw him do a few odd jobs when he had the time. What Mary doesn't get is why Haru hasn't gone home or met up with his family.
"I don't get it. Is this why Haru couldn't make it today?" Mary questioned. She thought it was something important, but it just looked like normal and casual stuff going on.
"Come on, Dorumon. Let's just head home now." Haru said. That sounded like Mary's chance. She'll know about where Haru lives now. Mary quietly followed Haru and Dorumon until they soon reached a small apartment building, but it didn't look like it was in the best of shape.
"This is where Haru lives?" Mary questioned.
"What's the problem?" Kudamon questioned.
"Just look at this place. It doesn't look like it's all that good." Mary said. "Is this why he didn't say anything? Is he embarrassed about where he lives or something?" When she thought that, she felt really bad for him.
"Okay, Mary! That's it! I know you're following me!" Haru called with annoyance and Mary felt like she was in real trouble now.
...
Taka's Apartment
"Come on in. Just make sure you clean your messes." Taka said as he and the others stepped into his apartment. While Mary was running her own investigation into Haru, the others were at Taka's apartment to discuss their next plan.
"Wow. Not a bad place." Ben said. "Just you and your mother live here?"
"Yeah. My mom actually works as a newswoman and it keeps her busy a lot." Taka said.
"She works for the news?" Amanda questioned. "Wait. Is your mother Marine Hoshi? My aunt and uncle listen to her on the news all the time."
"Yeah, that's her." Taka admitted.
"That's incredible." Ben said as she and Amanda were impressed as to who his mother was.
"It is? Why is that?" Swallowmon asked.
"Marine Hoshi works at one of the best news stations around." Ben explained. "People say a lot of good things about her. In fact, I believe she might be on right about now." He said as he found the remote for the television. "May I, Taka?"
"Sure. Go right ahead." Taka said as it didn't really matter to him. Ben turned on the television and switched to the news. Once he found it, a woman dressed in a power suit with her tied back into a bun was on the news. That was Taka's mom.
"Thank you, and those sunny warm days are going to be great. Who actually likes it when it's cold?" Marine joked.
"I can't believe that's your mother." Ben said.
"She does look rather nice." Labramon said.
"Now, on to the latest news. Reports of digimon sightings around interacting with children continue to increase." Marine reported with everyone listening to that. "The government has not provided any answers as to what to do about this matter. Some people have said that the digimon are rather nice and harmless, but there have been reports dating far back to about fourteen years ago that would say otherwise. Many believe that digimon are attempting to invade our world and are brainwashing our children. Others believe they are just mindless beasts that, for some reason, continue to drag their problems into our world. Opinions continue to change and increase for both sides. It's still up in the air. Are the digimon are our friends or are they a threat? Digimon: Digital Monsters or Digitial Friends?"
"Enough of that." Taka said as he turned it off.
"Imagine what she would think if she knew about you, Ponymon." Swallowmon said.
"Maybe you should make yourself known. She might be able to help change people's mind about us." Labramon said.
"Maybe, but..." Ponymon looked towards Taka as he was most worried about how Taka really feels about his mother.
"Taka, are these photos of you and your mother?" Amanda said as she found some on display. It looked a lot like the two of them had a lot of fun.
"Yeah. We had a lot of good times together, but ever since she got that job a few years ago." Taka said as he sounded rather sad about it. "She's been a lot busier, and hasn't had much time for the sort of fun we usually have." It sounded like Taka missed his mother and has become rather distant. The others could see that and felt sorry for him. Luckily, he had Ponymon. As Ponymon brushed himself against Taka's hand, Taka smiled as he was glad that now had Ponymon to keep him company. "Well, let's talk. I can order a pizza. Mom did leave some money for some food." Taka might have an estranged relationship with his mother, but he's glad to have these friends around.
...
Haru
Mary thought she was in trouble when she was found by Haru. Despite that, he still allowed her to come up to the apartment he stays in. Since she already knows where the building is, there's not much point in trying to hide it now.
"So, how did you know I was tailing you?" Mary questioned.
"You used your digivice to find me, but when I looked at mine, it alerted me about your location as well." Haru said. "I acted like I didn't know anything to see how far you were going to follow me. Seeing as how you followed me to my apartment, I decided to confront you about it."
"I'm sorry, Haru." Mary said.
"Well, you wanted to know where I live so badly. Here we are." Haru said as they went into the apartment, but it was really just a one room apartment. It's more fitted for one person, but not a family, and that is what has Mary concerned.
"Awesome, isn't it?" Dorumon questioned. "Everything is in arm's reach."
"Yeah..." Mary said.
"Well, I'm going to see what I can grab for dinner." Haru said as he went into the small kitchen. Mary looked around and was actually starting to get worried about Haru's living situation.
"Haru... Where are your parents?" Mary questioned.
"I don't have parents." Haru finally admitted and Mary and Kudamon were shocked to hear that. "The truth is I'm an orphaned. I have no idea as to who my parents are or if they're even still alive out there. I've been living on the streets my whole life until I could get this place."
"You have?" Mary said as she felt bad for him. "What about school?"
"I don't go to school." Haru said as he grabbed instant noodles and heated them up. "I don't have the time. I need ways to make money and get food."
"Yeah. That's why I've tried to tell you guys before, but Haru kept cutting me off." Dorumon said as it didn't sound like a problem.
"Dorumon, that isn't really something you should be casual about." Kudamon said.
"Haru, how did this happen?" Mary asked with Haru trying to have some dinner and worked out the window as he reflected on his life story.
"It's been like this as long as I can remember." Haru said. "I have no idea who my parents are or what happened to them, so I was out on my own. Sure child services tried to help me, but you can see how that all turned out. I grew older and have been living on the streets." He never forgot what that was like. Ever since he was born, he tried to take care of himself when he was just a small child. Roaming around the big city with so many people around like they were passing shadows and felt complete isolation from the rest of the world when he had no one. "No school, no chores, no rules; sure it sounds like every child's dream. However, the world can be a lonely place when your only companion is your own shadow. I had to take care of myself and do what I had to in order to survive."
"What do you mean?" Mary asked.
"I had to resort to stealing." Haru said as he remembered those times. He wasn't proud of it. "Yeah, I had to steal money and food for a while, but I only took what I needed. I knew I wasn't doing the right thing, but I did what I had to until I could start doing some odd jobs to make some money. I still do." Haru wasn't proud of some of the things he had to do, but he did what he needed to for him to survive. "Eventually, I saved up enough money and was able to get this place. It might not seem like much, but it's better than nothing."
"That would explain why you couldn't meet with us today. Taka said you had something going on. You were just trying to make some money." Mary said as she was starting to understand now.
"I can't imagine what you must have gone through." Kudamon said.
"Believe me, it was hard." Haru said. "Still, I found ways to cope. When I couldn't go to school, I snuck around into some places, grabbed some books, and educated myself. It might have been hard, but I never despaired. I can't really explain it, but I just had this feeling things would be better. When growing up on the streets, I've learned to trust my instincts. I've trusted myself and I felt like I was never going wrong."
"But why didn't you ever tell us before, Haru?" Mary asked.
"I don't want pity or charity." Haru said. "I know my life might seem depressing, but I'm not depressed. I remained strong and I've been holding up rather well."
"Still, it must be hard being on your own like this." Mary said.
"Sometimes, but that's actually why I'm glad I have Dorumon." Haru said as he walked over and petted Dorumon's head. "I have to admit that it is nice to have company."
"Really?" Dorumon questioned.
"In fact, it has a part of why we met." Haru said. "I had no idea what was going on, but I trusted myself. I followed what my heart was telling me, and my heart was telling me to help you out."
"And I'm really glad you did. I've been having a lot of fun ever since I met you and the others." Dorumon said.
"But before all of that, it did get rather lonely." Haru said as he could still remember how hard it was for him. Living life on your own with no one can be rather difficult. "Taka was complaining about his mother not being around. He should be glad for the times he is."
"So... How have you been feeling lately?" Mary asked.
"You don't have to worry about me, Mary." Haru said. "I've actually been doing rather well. Really, ever since I've met Dorumon and you guys. Growing up on the streets, I've learned some important things. Normally, it would cause someone to only think about themselves, but it didn't happen with me. I've learned to trust my instincts, trust my heart, and that's how it got to where I am."
"Haru..." Mary said as she was amazed. Haru is really something amazing. He's lived on the streets his whole life, but instead of becoming a selfish criminal, he's become a good man and is helping others now.
"You know what, it's also why I want to help the digimon." Haru said. "Dorumon and the digimon is how I met you guys. Things seem to be getting better."
"And I'm glad they are." Dorumon said. Haru has been dealt a hard life.
"But there's one thing you didn't think of, Haru." Mary said.
"What's that?" Haru questioned.
"You have me now. You have the others. We were all pulled into this crazy adventure together." Mary said. "That means we're friends now. You're not going to be alone anymore, and you don't have to hide things from us. Don't you feel a little better now that you've told me?" Haru thought it over and has keeping it hidden from the others out of pride, but now...
"I guess you're right." Haru said. "Now I've got you guys. As crazy as everything's been lately, I'm glad they all worked out well." Mary was glad for that as well. He's been living on his own for a long time, and that can be rather lonely, but whatever he went through helped him become what he is today. He's trusted his heart, trusted his instincts, and it helped him become who he is today. Now, he's got Dorumon and the others. Whatever Haru goes through now, he knows he's got others that have his back. Seems like Taka and Haru have their own problems at home, but at least they aren't so lonely since they have their digimon and their new friends.
...
Meanwhile, something else was going on. With all of what the digimon that have made appearances over the years, many have been rather curious about them and would like some answers. Of course, there are those who have done a good job in making sure that information never falls into the wrong hands. However, there are those who want answers and will do whatever it takes to get them.
"Digimon..." The one in charge of this little project was wearing a suit with him having black hair in spikes. "I don't know what's the deal with these creatures, but soon we won't have to worry about them." Whoever this man is, he's trying to learn whatever he can about digimon. It's like he's running some government project with the sort of equipment he is using. Whatever is going on here, it does not look good for digimon.
