"I thought you would've stop coming by now"

The crow besides him moved his wings, jumping from one spot to another.

"This is my city you're borrowing, I won't leave until there nothing but ashes on the ground"

"Your city? I thought Gods didn't have place in the city"

"Most left but not me, nor you. Yet you ou speak that, while your flock is everything but human"

"They're human"

"Are they really?"

Kai hummed, perched on one of the highest buildings of Ninjago city, enjoying the lights of the night life that illuminated the ground below.

"They all will die"

"Will they really?"

"They have"

"Yet they're here"

The red ninja sighed, ignoring the feathered creature.

"I will"

"You won't"

"I will"

"So will I, but we shall reborn over and over again, ashes to fire and fire to ashes"

"I can't, my core is water, my being is fire"

The fire elemental turned to the crow.

"How did you make it?"

The black crow looked at him, black eyes shining under the stars.

"I'm everywhere"

Kai hummed again, shifting his eyes back to the people below.

"I'm the lights you see, the quietness of the night and the cacophony of the day, the air you breath and the rain you feel"

"... Don't you get tired?"

"Tired?

"Existing in the dark"

The crow blinked, the lights reflecting on his black plumage.

"We live in the dark, hearing the prayers and wishes of those below."

"We're different then"

"That we are"

The bird jumps on one side to another.

"You left to become a human, look what that brought you"

"I like it"

"So you say... But everytime I met you again and again you're suffering"

"Not this time"

"Don't lie, the firebird inside you is restless"

Kai moves to lay down on the roof, looking up at the sky.

"So they are"

There's a moment of silence before the crow jumps onto his stomach.

"You should think about it"

"Hm?"

"Your humanity"

"My humanity is fine"

"You say, but you'll burst into flames at the worst moment"

Kai glared at the bird.

"I won't"

"City's have been destroyed for less"

"My fire is not a destructive weapon"

"Yours not" The bird jumps onto his chest "But theirs is"

"You say this is your city? What are you gonna do with it?"

"Why but feed from them"

"Their dreams and despairs are theirs to keep"

"Not here"

"That seems cruel"

"Isn't that what big cities are about?"

"Is about companionship"

"Is about forgetting"

"..."

"You talk as if you don't come here to forget, consuming all excess known to man, do you want to burst into flames so bad?"

"Maybe"

The bird scoffed.

"And I'm the cruel one? I'm just doing my job, making you forget, eating your despair"

"That's still cruel"

The crow looks at him, for the first time eyes shining as if they were fill with fire, mouth full of pointy teeth.

"Isn't that what humanity is about?"
