A/N I apologize, but I've never been much of a comic book reader. I know about the X Men from the movies. In writing this story I'm using the X Men wiki for reference. This is a Xander mutant story, kinda and you've already met this Xander. He's the Xander that the reality hopping Immortal hyena Xander met. I say kinda, because this Xander isn't the only Sunnydale mutant. And I'm sort of combining this with a Xander's real father story as well. But not quite. You'll see what I mean. Scientifically, I'm not sure what's proposed in this story is even possible.
The basic idea of this story comes from another unfinished story on Twisting the Hellmouth. Why are there so many unfinished stories? Especially good ones, out there? Like the Immortal series, this is a fusion reality, where vampires, demons and mutants all exist. Not really that far of a stretch as it seems that the X men have dealt with supernatural forces in the comics, from what my research suggests. This is set after the movie, Days of Future Past, which I have seen, so human and mutant relations mostly stable and no anti mutant groups will appear in the story. Which also means, Buffy's timeline will need to be adjusted to accommodate.
If anyone thinks this Xander is overpowered, remember he exists in a reality with Omega class mutants, like Phoenix (reference to Dark Phoenix is not to the movie, which I haven't seen, but the comic book story, which I found references to online.) and Storm and Storm is considered a goddess, from what I've read and Xander will not be Omega class and neither will the other mutants from Sunnydale. His list of mutant abilities will be based off of what could believably, I hope, allow him to survive everything he experienced in Sunnydale. (What league do you think Magic wielding Willow is in?). And what should Xander's superhero name be? ;)

Year 2014 (X-Men, during Buffy episode 'Welcome to the Hellmouth, part two.)
Charles Xavier, head of the Xavier Institute, a place where human mutants could come and safely learn to use their abilities to their fullest, looked up as Jean Grey, a teacher at the Institute, barged into his office without knocking.
"Professor, have you detected any new mutants with Cerebro?"
"No, I've been doing regular scans and no new mutants have been found. Why?"
"I felt something. I can't begin to explain it, but I felt something. Some sort of connection flared for a moment and then stopped."
"Just now?"
"Yes, just minutes ago."
"I'll check now, one may have activated since the last scan." The Professor connected with the device known as Cerebro, which could enhance telepathic abilities and began scanning the Earth for the signatures of any unknown mutants.
"I'm sorry, I didn't find anything. No unknown mutant signatures showed up."
"Thank you for checking. Like I said, I can't explain it, there was a connection to someone. That someone might not actually be a mutant or they could be a mutant who can mask themselves or the connection could be based on something other then mutant abilities."
"Could you get any sort of direction or sense of this person?"
"No to the direction. Anger. I felt anger. And pain. It wasn't directed at me, so I wouldn't call it an attack. I'm not even sure whoever it was even realized a connection formed, especially given how brief it was. If I wasn't as strong a telepath as I am, I might not have even registered it."
"Which might explain why I, with my telepathic abilities, didn't register it. You're a stronger telepath then I am. But if this person is masking their abilities, that begs some questions. Are they masking on purpose or accidentally, or is someone else masking them? If it is someone else, maybe it was a cry for help. You did say you felt anger and pain from them."
"God knows there are enough anti-mutant groups, not to mention a few mutant groups themselves, who could be responsible."
"Unfortunately true." The Professor agreed. Things had improved in that regard, but both anti mutant sentiments and mutants with unsavory agenda did still exist, after all. "Unless there's another flare or I'm connected to Cerebro when one happens, you may be the only one who will know if it happens again. Please tell me immediately, I'll try scanning again when you do."
"I will. Professor, I think there was something else, but I'm not sure."
"What?"
"It felt familiar in some way. Like I've felt something similar before. If it is a mutant, it may be someone I've met, but didn't know was a mutant."
"That would imply their ability hadn't activated when you met them, which would imply they were a child at the time, since abilities tend to activate in puberty."
"I'm not sure that really explains it either. When I say familiar, it's more like it's similar to a mind I've already touched. Similar, but not the same mind."
"Perhaps related to someone who's mind you have touched." The Professor suggested.
"Maybe. I need to think about this. Given how brief it was and all I got is really impressions, there just isn't much about it that I understand."
"Which is why you wanted me to scan first. If it is a mutant in pain, we need to find them, quickly. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you sort though your impressions."
"I will. Thank you, Professor."
"You're welcome." Jean departed and both she and Charles pondered the possibilities, none of which were good. Anger and pain did not bode well for what they might eventually discover is regards to this unknown potential young mutant.
