"Jean, phone!" Rona called out. Jean put the box of kitchen supplies she was carrying into the kitchen of the former Chase home turned dormitory and grabbed the cell from her. "Thanks, sweetie. Could you put these things away for me? It's the Professor, probably with more lab results. I'll just take it in the study."
"No problem." Rona answered and started pulling stuff out of the box as Jean went to the study and closed the door behind her.
"Professor?" She said.
"Jean, I've been try to get ahold of Emma, could you find her and have her call me? Quickly, please."
"You were going to call about lab results. Oh no, don't tell me?"
"I have to tell her first, Jean. If she wants to talk to you about it, she will."
"I understand, don't worry, I'll find her. I think she was having a therapy session with Buffy. Have you received the report yet on Xander remembering having a twin and Sunnydale Syndrome making everyone forget about him?"
"Yes and I feel for him. I can't help wondering what the reaction the populace of Sunnydale will have once Stephan finishes taking down that field. That backlash Jean, could be severe. If I understand it, that field was likely started a century ago and added to over the decades. That's generations of people affected by it. In the long run, taking down it is probably for the best, but people are still going to suffer something because of it."
"I know and Stephan and I have discussed it and we're in agreement, the field has to come down and people need to face reality. Some won't be able to, but most hopefully will. Xander, Faith and Cordelia are certainly doing better as they face and deal with their problems and hopefully Buffy and Dawn will be too. The Potentials haven't had the shear amount to deal with, but all of them are having to deal with traumas of their own, such as bringers killing their families and trying to fight the First or Dark Willow really and are at least trying to deal with it. The point is that they are dealing or at least trying to deal."
"I agree. Also, we still haven't been able to locate Nancy Doyle and neither have the Angel Investigations team, she's the only female of the created mutants still unaccounted for. Please have Emma call me as soon as you can and I'll talk to you later."
Jean hung up and quickly headed over to Emma's office. Emma was never going to be one of her favorite people. Her and Scott getting involved when they'd believed her dead, didn't help nor did Jean's own 'gone evil ' period while under Mastermind's control hadn't helped matters at all. Still, Emma was here in Sunnydale trying to help and that was to be respected. 'But if she's related to one of the created mutants like I am Xander, that just gives us even more in common. And she's still never going to one of my favorite people, but respect her? Yes, definitely.'
When Jean arrived at Emma's office she knocked on the door and got a 'Come in!' response.
"Emma, I'm sorry to disturb you and you're not answering your phone."
"No, it's okay. Buffy just left. It was a rough session for her, I just needed a little time to center myself. Sometimes, trying to help people see the truth can be very painful to watch. Okay, it's always painful to watch. But the alternatives to not dealing with it are worse. So, what can I do for you?"
"The Professor called to fill me in on new lab results, only the information isn't for me. He was trying to get ahold of you himself."
"Me? Oh, I should've considered the possibility that my DNA might have been used for this project these so called doctors were doing. They seemed to have gotten ahold of the DNA of several very strong mutants somehow. Either Omega class or with useful characteristics, like Logan's healing factor and longevity or Domino's ability to manipulate probabilities or Ali's very strong abilities with sound and light."
"You should call the Professor. Emma, I want you to know, we may never really be friends, but I trust you and respect you. I just don't really like you."
"Like Scott and Logan? Too many issues getting in the way of what could have, under other circumstances, been a good friendship?"
"Exactly. But we can talk once the Professor informs you of the results. There's very little that's more intrinsically personal then DNA and these doctors stole that from us, just as other groups stole from other mutants to create people. They had no more right then anyone else. And yet, they made Xander. A young man trying to face his personal demons while fighting literal demons. I don't regret Xander's existence, however he came about. Neither does Logan."
"I hope I can say the same. I'll call the Professor, please stay. I don't mind if you know."
Emma quickly called Charles' personal line and he immediately answered.
"Emma, good Jean found you. Thank you for calling me back so quickly."
"Of course, Professor. Given that I think you're going to tell me that I'm related to one of these created mutants and I was just discussing with Jean the necessity of facing hard truths is better then the alternatives, I can hardly do less. So, am I related to one of the girls?"
"Yes, but it's more complicated then that, I'm afraid. Finding out who her genetic parents are wasn't difficult because, well their DNA has already been matched with two of the other created mutants we've found."
"You're saying the mutant created using my DNA is also related to two of the others? Are they relayed to me as well?"
"Yes, to your first question, no to the second. The created mutant that you're the genetic mother of is Harmony Kendall, the vampire that was dusted. Her other genetic mother is Alison Blair, which makes her related to Cordelia Chase. We've also identified one of her genetic fathers, which happened because we'd just identified Xander's remaining genetic father."
"Harmony is Cordelia's half sister through a genetic mother and Xander's half sister though a genetic father? Please tell it isn't Logan." Jean all but begged. "He's having a hard enough time dealing with finding out he had another son in Xander's twin, who was kidnapped and killed as a child. Finding out he had a daughter who became a vampire, would remind him strongly of Jubilee, even if she did become a different breed of vampire and it was eventually reversed."
"No, we've identified his sole remaining genetic father, so no, Harmony Kendall is not related to Logan. Just Xander and Cordelia. Which I imagine will be difficult enough to deal with, even if they're not related to each other."
"True. Oh gods, how true." Jean agreed.
"So who is this genetic father that ties Xander and Harmony together?" Emma asked.
"Tell me, does Xander have a history with fire?" The Professor asked.
