"What ya doing, Buffy?" Xander asked absently as he worked to finish putting together some more furniture for the Potential's dorms. Buffy was sitting on the couch reading what looked like one of Giles' books.

"Emma wants me to read the Watchers Chronicles and find out what the Watchers found out about the human Angel was and about Angelus. She says he's a conglomeration of the two of them."

"Well, it's about time."

"What's about time?"

"That you're finally figuring out the truth about him. You've had your head in the sand for a long time about Angel."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Buffy, it's not like you ever tried to find out anything about him. I know more about Angel then you do and I hate the guy. You believe he's your soulmate and yet you know nothing about him."

"Careful, Xander." Buffy said snidely. "Your jealousy is showing."

"I never understood why you and Willow and others think I'm jealous of Angel. What exactly is there to be jealous of? Your so called relationship with him was a train wreck I could see coming a mile away. Hell, anyone with half a brain should have been able to see it. Which makes me wonder why Willow and Giles, supposedly big brained, never seemed to have an issue with you being involved with him."

"How exactly was my Angel relationship with Angel a train wreck, Xander? It was the most important relationship I ever had!"

"Buffy, if Angel was human he'd be more then a decade older then you and you were an underage teenager when you met him. Which makes him a statutory rapist by law. And that was before we found out he was a vampire, a dead body run by a demon. And don't bring up the soul. A soul just means he could tell right from wrong, not that it made him an actual Angel!"

"None of that matters! I loved him before I knew he was a vampire and him being a vampire never mattered to me! And it was my choice who I got involved with, not yours!"

"I never thought it was my choice who you were involved with. I never cared about your human boyfriends, although Riley and I did become friends and I certainly wasn't jealous of any of them. I just had a problem with the dead, demon ones. That's not being jealous or judgemental, Buffy. That wondering what the Hell you're thinking that makes you think it's remotely fine to be involved with creatures that literally see humans as food?!"

"But neither Angel or Spike were feeding on people!"

"First off, you don't know that Angel wasn't feeding on people, you never bothered to find out, just assumed, just like everything else in regards to your relationship with him. And second, Spike wanted to go back to being able to feed on humans. He spent most of his time trying to find a way to get rid of the chip so he could! And the only reason he went to that wish demon in the first place was so he could get the chip removed because he thought that would make him the man shaped monster you could love! That the demon gave him a soul was to make misery out of the wish while granting Spike exactly what he asked for, a way to be a human shaped monster for you. Which means your relationship with him was also a train wreck waiting to happen too!"

"Oh, like your relationship with Anya was any better, she wanted to go back to being a demon and did!"

"She stopped wanting to go back to being a demon and worked hard on being a human, a good human, not a coward like Angel. And she went back to being a demon in the aftermath of me breaking her heart, because she was hurting and needed a way to armor herself against the pain and let's not forget, she regretted doing so. And she wasn't a demon or a dead body when we were together. And her having sex with Spike, drunk or not, is just as disgusting as you having sex with Angel and Spike is. That was my big problem with seeing them together on camera. If I'd seen her having sex with a human, it wouldn't have been nearly as much of a big deal. I'm not a bigot for hating vampires, Buffy. They're monsters! We're not just food to them! We're toys they torture for their amusement!"

"Is this a bad time?" Jean asked, as she and Emma came in the front door. "Because we have news for you, Xander."

"Go ahead, Jean. It's bound to be better the arguing with Buffy is."

"Depends on your point of view, I suppose." Jean answered. "I suggest you brace yourself, it's certainly going to make things even more interesting that they already are."
