Chapter 1: The Perfect Day
Percy's POV
"You know, the others are waiting. They planned a whole party just for you." Annabeth informed. I chuckled, and looked into her deep gray eyes.
"They can wait," I said. The golden sun shined upon us, as if we were the only ones in the world. I could feel the ticklish sand between my toes, and the ocean breeze flowing through my jet black hair. The sky was tinted with pink and orange as the sun set, falling into its slumber. I turned to Annabeth. She was reading one of her many favorite books, "The Art of an Architect". She was dressed in her simple Camp Half-Blood T-shirt with her favorite pair of blue shorts. Her curly locks of blonde were tied back into her signature ponytail with a perfect pink hair tie. She was perfect, ethereal even. Then, I snapped out of my trance when I heard something snap.
"Okay, Seaweed Brain, it's really time to go" she commanded as she stood up and grabbed the wooden picnic basket. I swiftly stood up and rolled up the striped towel. As we walked to the campfire area, I couldn't help but think about how beautiful she was. Her smile, her laugh, everything. The day I met her, I knew she was pretty, but she's more than that. She's a literal goddess, a girl made of light and goodness. Today was the day I turned 18, and I couldn't wait to spend the rest of my life with her. Going to college, growing old, having kids. It seemed like a dream. Finally, we arrived at the site, where everyone was running around like mice and yelling, "Quick, quick! Percy and Annabeth are coming!"
"Surprise!" They all shouted in unison. I put on my facade, acting surprised as if I never knew they set up a surprise party.
"Wow! This looks amazing! Oh! Thanks guys! I'm so grateful to have friends like you!" I complimented with a wide grin.
"WAIT!" Leo shouted. Everyone turned to him, confused. "Where's the cannons?"
"Oh no…" Jason mumbled. Suddenly, thousands of confetti cannons exploded, covering the floor with color. Campers were running and screaming, thinking it was a monster. I couldn't help it. I burst out laughing out of nowhere, and the others joined in. We chuckled and joked around as if we didn't have a problem in the world. When the campers realized it was Leo's confetti cannons, the party continued on. Chocolate cake coated in blue frosting was served in big slices. I devoured 3 slices of cake, and had a whole sugar rush. I danced on the floor as if there was no tomorrow, and challenged one of the campers to a dance battle. I won, obviously. Then, it was gift time. I received many gifts from my friends, but one in particular stood out to me. It was Annabeth's gift. It was a photo album filled with all of our memories since I had my first quest. She even had a picture of me drooling while I was asleep! I tackled her playfully, and the others snickered. One shouted, "OMG! Rare Percabeth moment!". Though, I didn't really understand what they meant. Finally, the perfect day ended with Annabeth kissing me on the cheek, wishing me a good night's sleep.
"Good night, Seaweed Brain," she told me, and she walked to the Athena cabin, greeting her half brothers and sisters. I strolled to the Poseidon cabin, and tucked myself into the warm, cozy bed. Listening to the calm waters of the fountain, I finally fell asleep.
