I just stood back and observed the room. That's when my eyes landed on Omega. She is sitting next to Wrecker and she's clutching her left arm, slowly rubbing her hand across it. Before I could say anything, Hunter got up and walked over. He leant up against the wall beside me before nudging me and saying
"Thank you" I nudged him back and said
"For what?"
"Being in the right place at the right time"
"Yeah well you seem to find trouble when I'm not around"
"I'm pretty sure we found more trouble when you were around General" Tech then got up to stretch and said
"I concur"
Brushing off his comment, I looked back over at Omega and said
"So what's the deal with the kid?" He looked over to her and said
"She's a clone, like us"
"Ahh that explains it"
"Explains what?" I pushed off the wall and said
"She's stubborn... Have you got any water?" He crouched down to his pack and pulled out a canteen of water as I went over to Omega.
As I sat down, I said
"So how long are you gonna hide it?" She looked around and said
"I don't know what you mean" I just simply raised my eyebrow at her. She looked at me for a second before sighing and saying
"It's nothing, just a scratch" after she said Hunter stepped away from the wall saying
"You're hurt!" He came over and stood behind me as she said
"It's nothing. I didn't want you to worry" he went to say something else but stopped when I looked at him over my shoulder. I then looked back at Omega and said
"Can I have a look?" She hesitated and looked back at Hunter. He gave her a small smile and she moved her hand revealing a small patch of blood around a cut on her sleeve. I gently took her arm and hand a closer look at the cut. I then said
"You should have mentioned something, if left any longer this could have become infected" I then looked back at Hunter but didn't have to say anything as he had already opened the water canteen.
I then raised my other hand and used my other powers to pull some water out of the canteen. I held the water out in front of me as it started to glow. I then moved my hand over to Omegas are and said
"This may sting" I pressed my hand on her arm and she flinched away for a second. I held my hand there for a few minutes before pulling it away. The water was gone and so was the cut on her arm. I smiled and said
"There that wasn't so bad" she looked at her arm, smiled and said
"Thanks…Urm what did you do?" I sat back and said
"Lovely little trick I picked up on my travels. It works with some injuries but has it's limitations"
"What kind of limitations?" I was about to answer but was cut off by Echo saying
"It can regenerate lost limbs…" we all looked over at him only to see him holding his metal arm. He then continued
"We've tried" I then said
"I'm still sorry about that Echo"
"Don't be. You're not the reason I'm half machine" the room then fell quiet again as we waited for Wrecker to wake up.
As time went on, the tension in the room grew. Wrecker should be awake by now, his vitals stabilised a good 30 minutes ago. Everyone is trying to keep themselves occupied. Omega has basically fallen asleep leant against Wrecker's arm, Echo and Rex are catching up in the corner, Tech attempting to stay awake in the chair he's sat in and Hunter is twirling his knife around his fingers. I'm sitting next to Hunter with one of my sabers in my hand, it got damaged during the Clone betrayal so I'm having to do daily celebrations to keep it working properly.
The silence in the room was broken when Tech spoke
"Val if you don't mind me asking, how did you survive order 66?" I put my saber away whilst saying
"I was on the cruiser with Rex and… the 332nd. That's also how my saber got damaged, isn't that right Rex?" I didn't look around as Rex said
"Again not my fault, not in control"
"Again, you shot me about one inch above my heart"
"Again...I'm not having this argument again" Hunter then said
"Again? How many times have you had this argument?" You could hear the amusement in his voice. Rex simply replied
"To many times" Echo then spoke
"Valkyrie what happened to General Skywalker?" Almost immediately my eyes dropped to the floor as I said
"Anakin...Died. He was killed in battle" After I said that Hunter gently placed a hand on my shoulder for comfort.
"Hey, kid. Why... Why the long face?"
"He's awake!" We all looked over and saw Wrecker starting to sit up with help from Omega. Tech then said
"Oh. You made it" We then went over to check on him as I said
"Welcome back. Wrecker" He looked up at me and said
"Kyrie? How long was I out?" I patted his arm and said
"Good to see you too Bud" Wrecker chuckled and groaned as Rex held up Techs device and said)
"One chip down. Three to go. Who's next?"
One by one the others took part in the procedure. Although as they were celebrating having their chips removed, both mine and Rexs wrist communicators started beeping. I looked over at Rex for a second before he started walking out of the med bay. I hesitated for a second until Hunter shoved me slightly and said
"Go, we're good here" Omega then looked up and said
"Will we see you again?" I looked between the boys for a second before looking back at Omega. I ruffled her hair whilst saying
"Can't get rid of me that easily Kid" I then started walking out of the room. As I got to the door Omega spoke
"Valkyrie, thank you for saving Wrecker" nothing else was said as I ran to catch up with Rex
"Copy that. I'll meet you at the rendezvous by the next rotation" I looked at Rex and went to say something but was cut off by Hunter joining us while saying
"I figured you weren't out of the fight just yet" We looked at him as Rex said
"I spent my life defending the Republic. Can't stop now" Hunter crossed his arms and replied
"The Republic's gone, Rex" I then said
"Not all of it" Rex continued
"We're here. Others are out there too. Your squad's skills would be a tremendous asset" Hunter looked at me briefly before saying
"Things aren't like before. Our priorities have shifted" I smiled and said
"So We've noticed"
"Omega needs us, and I have to do what's best for my squad" I looked into his eyes and said
"Which is what?"
"I'm still figuring that out" Rex then said
"I guess we all are. When you sort things out, let me know where you land. Tell the boys I'll see them around. General…" I looked at Rex for a second before saying
"Actually Rex, I was going to hang around for a while. If that's okay with Hunter?"
Rex looked at me for a second before looking at Hunter. Hunter then looked at me and said
"You're more than welcome to tag along. The boys have missed having you around" Rex smirked and said
"Uh-huh, the boys…" Hunter then quickly said
"Stay out of trouble" Rex looked at him and said
"Funny. I was gonna say the same to you"
" Well... Take care, the trooper" I then said
"Be careful Rex, I'll be checking in" Rex then started to walk off but was stopped when Hunter said
"Captain. If you're ever in a bind, you know how to reach us"
