Learning the History of Quincy and Challenge
After school has ended, Uryū is seen walking up the stairs of a neighborhood heading off home and seems to be alone only he knows that he is not alone as he stops at the top of the stairs.
"Do you intend to follow me all the way home, Ichigo Kurosaki?" Uryu asked as he turns his head seeing Ichigo on some of the steps.
"Huh, guess I'm not as sneaky as I thought I was." Ichigo chuckled sarcastically.
"So, when did you first notice me?" Ichigo asked.
"From the time you and Orihime saw me in the classroom. You've been ducking in and out of shaodws behind me ever since." Uryu answered as he always knew that Ichigo was there behind him.
"That long, huh? Now that's impressive." Ichigo said sarcastically, but will admit that this guy is really good like a trained hunter.
"The careless way you let your spirit energy leak out, even a monkey would have noticed. Amateur stuff." Uryu insulted Ichigo for his lack of control and being cautious.
"What did you say?" Ichigo asked feeling angry of those words.
"You heard me. It's obvious that you lack even the most basic ability to detect those around you with high spirit energy. How else can you explain the fact that you weren't even aware of my existence until today?" Uryu lectured.
"Yeah, sorry about that. It just that I've always been really bad at remembering names and faces." Ichigo said, but clearly not getting of what the boy in glasses is saying.
"That's not what I mean." Uryu said as he turns around.
"There's a difference between you and me. When you first started at this school, I sensed your high spirit energy. If you were any good, you would have sensed mine." Uryu stated which made Ichigo both mad and surprise at the same time.
"I even know the day in mid-May when you became a Soul Reaper. And I know Rukia Kuchiki's true identity." Uryu revealed which shockes Ichigo.
But that wasn't the only thing that surprises Ichigo when long white ribbons started to appear around Uryu raising up and almost like they're dancing around him.
"Spirit ribbons." Ichigo recognized what those ribbons are.
"For a change, you're right. Spirit ribbons are the physical manifestation of spirit energy in the atmosphere. And—" Uryu suddenly vanished from the spot which caught Ichigo off guard from that.
Uryu appeared right in front of Ichigo and thrust his hand forward seemingly like he's going to grab him by the neck, but it was actually a spirit ribbon that appeared right in front of Ichigo though this spirit ribbon is different because it's red.
"What is that?" Ichigo asked surprise.
"This is your spirit ribbon." Uryu answered and rips a piece of it.
"You didn't know that? Soul Reaper's spirit ribbons are a different color than normal ones." Uryu explained and let go of the red spirit ribbon as it vanished.
"Why don't we play a little game, Ichigo Kurosaki. Let's have a duel to determine which one of us is stronger, the Quincy or the Soul Reaper." Uryu suggested with serious in his eyes.
"I'll show you just how unnecessary Soul Reapers are in this world." Uyru declared.
This was a surprise to Ichigo as he didn't expect to suddenly be challenged to some kind of game and he can tell it's gonna be a dangerous one, but there's no way he was gonna let this glasses guy walk all over him like he's the boss or something.
With that in mind, there was only one thing to do.
(Urahara Shop)
"Well, time to meet up with the man of the shop." Yoh said walking toward the shop seeing the two kids playing Rock-Paper-Scissor though it looks like Jinta is losing.
"Why you…" Jinta angered as he did not want to lose to Ururu today.
"Hey guys, you look like you're having fun." Yoh smiled.
"Welcome home, Yoh. How was your day in school?" Ururu greeted the older boy friendly.
"Hey! Don't you dare ignore me when I'm the one who's going to beat you!" Jinta yelled.
"You know, I think you're funny when you get all angry like that." Yoh chuckled with a compliment.
"Me, funny, huh?" Jinta clutched his fist wanting to punch this guy, but he suddenly got lifted in the air by Tessai.
"I hope you weren't thinking about hurting our special guest now." Tessai asked in a serious tone.
"Nothing like that, he and Ururu were just playing Rock-Paper-Scissor and I wanted to see if I can join." Yoh explained trying to have Jinta from being punish.
"I'm afraid you're going to have to find another time to play that game." Rukia walked up to him.
"Hey there, hope the trip wasn't hard for you." Yoh greeted with a friendly smile.
"No, everything is normal and no Hollows were around which is a good thing, but we shouldn't waste anymore time right now." Rukia said.
"Okay then, let's go hear us a story." Yoh nodded as they walk into the store.
"Hey there, I just happened to hear that it's gonna be story time." Kisuke greeted while fanning himself a bit.
"You heard right, hopefully we'll be able to understand thus Uryu guy and the Quincy thing." Yoh said.
"Well, you better be ready for a story that may make you feel dark or whatever." Kisuke said with a grin.
(Back with Ichigo and Uryu)
"So, when is this duel between us supposed to take place?" Ichigo asked knowing that he has to try beat this guy.
"Right now." Uryu answered without a second wasted.
Ichigo and Uryu start staring intensely at each other for a moment almost like something big is about to happen in this duel, that is until Ichigo finally spoke up.
"That idea is ridiculous." Ichigo yelled.
"Why do you say that?" Uryu asked, unfazed from the yell.
"Because it would be a waste of time, and I've got nothing to prove to you. I never heard of Quincy before, and I don't know what you have against Soul Reapers, but it's got nothing to do with me." Ichigo explained his reason.
Ichigo is being smart as he doesn't want to make this battle serious between the two of them, and he also doesn't want to get drag into something that happened a long time ago like some stupid feud.
"What a surprise, you're afraid to fight." Uryu mocked a little.
"Forget trying to goad me into it. Besides, I'd mop the floor with you." Ichigo proclaimed before turning around and walking away.
"Oh, now I get it, you don't have permission." Uryu said that made Ichigo stop.
"I forgot; your Soul Reaper powers came from Rukia. You're actually just a substitute Soul Reaper. That probably means that on your own, you can't so much as lift a finger, you have to have her permission to duel, don't you?" Uryu stated of what looks to his eyes.
"That does it." Ichigo said feeling anger raising from within, now he wants to beat this guy down to the ground.
"Come to think of it, that Yoh kid was also a special case with spirit energy meaning he could be above you. To think your strength would be lower than a kid." Uryu mocked.
"Now you're asking for two black eyes." Ichigo clutched his fists as he does not want to be talk down on.
(Urahara Shop, Inside)
"Gotta say, Quincy is a word I haven't heard in a long time." Kisuke said while Tessai set down some tea for them.
"It does have kind of an ancient ring to it, doesn't it?" Tessai asked his boss.
"How long has it been since you've last known about the Quincy?" Yoh asked.
"If I'm not mistaken, it's been 200 years since I've heard anyone speak of Quincys." Tessai answered, remembering that little talk of a former job he and Kisuke were a part of.
"Well, who are they?" Rukia asked.
"Who were they, you mean. The last of the Quincys became extinct centuries ago, but they were once a clan that specialized in killing Hollows. And at one time, there were many of them scattered throughout the world." Kisuke explained.
"Hmm, I wonder if my family ever met any Quincys before?" Yoh asked curious.
"But you said they were, did something happen to them?" Yoh asked.
"Well, I suppose I should begin at the beginning." Kisuke decided to start the story from there.
"The clan started out as a group of humans who had powers like Ichigo and Yoh to sense the presence of Hollows in the world and began to train to fight against them. The whole mission o the Quincys was to defeat Hollows, just as it is for Soul Reapers like Rukia, but there was a deep division between the two." Kisuke explained.
"Like one group being able to kill the Hollow first?" Yoh guessed.
"Not exactly. It was a question of whether to cleanse Hollows or just kill them. Soul Reapers, as you know, seek to purify Hollows with their Zanpakuto and thereby allow them to pass over to the Soul society." Kisuke explained about the Soul Reaper's job with the Hollows.
"But the Quincys believed the Hollows deserved only destruction and sought to annihilate them." Kisuke mentioned of how the Quincys view of the Hollows.
"When you think about it, it was a natural reaction. Hollows devour human souls; they kill and maim our friends and family. Why should they deserve the peace of a Soul Society? The Quincys couldn't understand showing such mercy, and eveturally began to hate the Soul Reapers for it." Kisuke explained of how the Quincys felt toward Hollows.
"Sounds like those guys couldn't let go of their hate." Yoh commented.
"You can say that again." Kisuke nodded.
"They were sure the only answer was to kill Hollows. They believed in doing so that they were avenging their fallen comrades." Kisuke said.
"But then, it was this same belief that eventually led to their destruction." Kisuke stated as Yoh and Rukia continue listening more of this Quincy story.
(Back with Ichigo and Uryu)
"All right, if a duel's what you want, then a duel's what you'll get." Ichigo smirked as he took Kon out of a stuff lion.
"It's about time, Ichigo!" The stuff lion yelled upset that surprised Uryu though he kept his composure.
"Why'd you leave me in that stupid bag all day? You trying to kill me? I don't care what Rukia says, don't you ever do that to me again!" Kon yelled with a glare.
"Cough it up." Ichigo demanded with a glare of his own and Kon flinch knowing what he meant.
"Wait a sec. Forget what I said about the bag. You can put me back there—" But Kon's words were ignored when Ichigo shoved his hand inside and took out a soul candy.
Ichigo wipes the candy on his shirt because it had a little dust on it and then tosses the candy into his mouth then swallows it, and then his Soul Reaper soul came right out of the body with his body now being taken over by Kon.
"Kon, you get back. I'm about to give Mr. Handicrafts some stitches to sew." Ichigo smirked at Uryu.
"I'll be over here then!" Kon hurried over to a safe spot with his stuffy body and Ichigo's school bag.
"So, how does your little duel work? Tell me the rules, and let's get to it." Ichigo asked feeling a big excited to teach this glasses bastard a lesson.
Uryu just smiles believing this duel is going to be his for the taking and to finally have his revenge on the Soul Reapers on what happened to his Quincy ancestors, and show this punk what is really takes to fight against the Hollows.
"So, you're really ready to go?" Uryu asked.
"Yeah, I am." Ichigo answered.
"Okay, now tell me what the rules are for this thing. Let's get started already." Ichigo said.
Uryu reach into the shirt pocket and took out what looks like a coin but it's not upon closer look that it seems to be something else.
"We'll use this to begin. It'll help." Uryu said.
"Huh, and what is that?" Ichigo confused.
"Bait to bring in the Hollows. If I crush this, Hollows will start gathering here quickly." Uryu answered without any hesitation.
"What the Hell?" Ichigo gasped.
"The rules here are quite simple. Whoever kills the most Hollows in 24 hours will be the winner." Uryu explained the rules of this duel.
"Simple, isn't it? Even you can understand how that works." Uryu grinned.
"That won't work. What are you thinking? Doing that would put everyone who lives here in danger. This battle's just between us." Ichigo pointed out, thinking this guy is crazy now.
"Why are you making such a big deal about this? Believe me, no one is going to get hurt because I know I will be able to wipe out every single Hollow that shows up here." Uryu claimed with confident and calm in his mind.
Ichigo though just groans in frustration that Uryu says he's going to kill the Hollows before any people could be hurt, but he's not a hundred precent sure if he can do it depending on the numbers.
"If you had more confidence in your abilities to protect people from Hollows, you wouldn't be worried, and you would accept this challenge." Uryu stated.
Uryu crush the object with no hesitation and in mere seconds, a black portal opened up from the sky and a Hollow appeared letting out a roar.
However, that Hollow would only get his head out of the hole when a blue spirit energy arrow hits the Hollow and destroyed it completely with the hole closing up and the one who shot that arrow was Uryu.
"And that's one for me." Uryu said.
But then Ichigo charges in and pin Uryu down to the ground in anger.
"Why does your face look so tense, Ichigo Kurosaki?" Uryu asked with his calm face.
"Change things back right now. You get those Hollows out of here." Ichigo demanded; this duel has gone too far now.
"It's too late for that. Soon, the bait will have the whole town crawling with Hollows. Sorry, but the die has already been cast." Uryu stated that there is no stopping this now.
This only made Ichigo angry as he clutches onto the white shirt as he wants to proud those stupid glasses straight into his face.
"You should use your time in a better way than this. There are people out there that need you." Uryu pointed out.
As much as he hates to admit it, Ichigo knew this bastard was right and that he should be focusing on getting those Hollows and killing them before they would hurt any people, so he decided to let Uyru be the last one to beat up as let's go of the shirt.
"I'd say you'd better get moving if you're going to protect the entire town from all those Hollows." Uryu said as he pushes Ichigo off and stands up.
"Damn you…" Ichigo cursed as Uryu walks away.
"I suppose I should remind you. It's a fact that Hollows have a tendency to attack those who have a high level of spirit energy first." Uryu explained.
Ichigo was a bit surprise of hearing this new info about Hollows going after people with the highest spirit energy level first, that would mean Rukia never taught him that much but now he remembers back when that Fisher Hollow attacked his little sisters because they must've posses high spirit energy. But that's not all.
"(Oh crap, Yoh told me about my friends having high spirit energies of their own and he helped made them stronger too. Damn it!)" Ichigo thought worried.
Ichigo looks back and forth of the two paths having a hard time making a decision as he knows he has to hurry.
"Okay, I'll check with my sisters first then I'll go check on the others!" Ichigo decided before running off.
"It would seem he realizes of those outside of his family who are gifted with spirit energy." Uryu said watching Ichigo run.
"But that won't matter. All this will still make him realize just how weak his power is. At last, he's reached that place the point of no return." Uryu said and looks up at the sky, imaging an imagine of an old man.
Uryu groans in anger and hold out his arm with the little metal piece of his bracelet started to glow.
"Soul Reapers are such useless scum." Uryu muttered.

Uryu has stated his challenge to Ichigo and it turned into a big crazy one with going out killing every Hollows in town within 24 hours, and they will also go after the ones with the high level of spirit energy which is highly likely that Ichigo's friends and Yoh could be targeted.
