Between Worlds:
This category can be broken into eight types:
•Those with the Gift. They are often referred to as wizards and witches, sorcerers and sorceresses, and mages. There has been a great deal of debate if they actually qualify as Otherkin. Most of them will claim they are separate, though they can be born from ungifted parents or have children without any magical powers. The overall vote at a magic council meeting finally decided that they count as part of the Between Worlds group.
•Were-creatures. These too have been debated as Otherkin, though because it is a curse they suffer from ultimately put them in the Between Worlds.
•Children of Otherkin and humans. This is perhaps the most controversial topic in both worlds. The mortals have convinced themselves that magical beings never existed for the most part, while some Otherkin don't like to acknowledge they once mated with those "below" them. Nevertheless, this doesn't change the fact that there are still descendants of them among us.
•Seers or Soothsayers, also referred to as people that have the gift of the Sight. Not only can see the past, present and future, but also things as they truly are. They are often also children of Otherkin, though regular humans can be born with the gift without having any relation as well.
•The Cursed. These beings were either passed their bane through family lines, attacked by an affected person, or stricken by a magician or deity. The latter is very rare, since the gods of all cultures generally keep to themselves nowadays.
•The Pure, which consists of children and those who remain resolute in their beliefs as adults.
•The Spiritual. Priests and priestesses, monks, and shamans are often able to see what others have closed their eyes to. Seers could be considered part of this category as well, though not all Seers take part in or belong to a spiritual community.
•The Veracity. While very rare, there are people who can observe Otherkin in their true forms and find their dwellings even when illusion charms or protection spells have been placed to keep them from doing so normally.
What is the difference between Children of Otherkin, the Pure and Veracity, you may ask if the other five do not describe you? The later two are not part of the first category and Veracity are not children nor child-like, instead seeking truth wherever it may be. Children of Otherkin do not need to look for accuracy because they find it without looking or already know it without realizing they do. Which of these are you? You may never know for certain, but see below for possible answers.
Do you still see things through the eyes of a child? This means you find wonder and joy in everything, on top of the ability to see Otherkin. You think of everyone as good even if they may not be. You inspire others to do better and are humble despite adulation you receive. If this describes you, you are most likely a Pure. Do you prefer the pursuit of the truth over being told what to believe? Now don't misunderstand, there are plenty of people who do this who cannot see Otherkin, so searching for authenticity is not enough. Not that I am discouraging these people from wanting answers, but only those who are Veracity observe all. If you can view what seems veiled to others, you might just be a Veracity. Have you ever had something happen around you that was almost unbelievable? Or perhaps others couldn't see the same things you did? If the answer is yes to these two questions, you could be a Child of Otherkin. Look into you family history and you may be surprised.
Beauty closed Magic: Reality Or Myth? thoughtfully. She had always loved to learn facts for herself and yet the stuff that had been happening to her since moving out here to Colorado, including Obsidian saying he wouldn't be surprised if she was related to a magical being made her wonder if it was possible to be both, though Seiko said they were separate.
She nearly jumped out of her skin when her phone rang and relaxed when she saw it was her father. "Hey Dad, how is it going?"
"Pretty good. I am in Durango right now and it looks like I will be securing another furniture contract. How are things for you?"
"They're okay. Got off of work and am at home reading."
"You haven't heard from Obsidian yet I take it?"
"No." She sighed. "You coming home tonight?"
"Do you need me to?"
"I think I will be fine if you don't."
"Well if you're sure then I will go over to Clifton and stay overnight to meet with prospective business partners tomorrow."
"I hope they like your furniture as much as I do."
"Thank you Beauty dear, I will call you tomorrow."
"Sounds good. Bye, Dad."
"Bye, Beauty."
She hung up and decided to check and see if anything good was on the television. She couldn't find anything she hadn't already watched, so she turned it off and made herself dinner. She ate quietly before cleaning her dishes and logging into her laptop.
She looked at the book tour schedule for Seiko Wendell and noticed the author was going to be in Denver in three months, so she made a note to ask for July 15th off. She booked tickets for the tour dates and a round trip flight package complete with a hotel near the convention center where it was being held.
"So much for my savings." She sighed and knew it would be worth it. Once she met Miss Wendell in person, she could finally have answers. Or at least she hoped so. Seiko seemed to know the subject of magic with the same familiarity her father knew wood working. For the millionth time, she wished she could see or hear from Naga and Obsidian, glancing out her window towards the forest.
