A/N: I know all of you have been asking me to update my other stories. I am not quitting on any of them. I just have no immediate inspiration for them. I'll get to them when I have a good idea to write that won't look like I threw up alphabet soup onto the screen.
It was another day in the Man Cave and the Manotaurs were facing a small dilemma.
They...were bored.
"You guys wanna build something and then knock it over?" Testosteraur asked as he and Pituitaur punched each other in the face.
"Nah. We did that yesterday." Pituitaur answered before he took a fist to the face. "Wanna go tease the unicorns for being girly?"
"Only if you wanna do the singing to get into their dumb forest." Beardy answered as he and Pubetor squared off at the foosball table.
"If we do, watch out for those dumb gnomes. Always so hard to get them out of my hooves if I step on them." Pubetor groaned before Beardy sunk the ball in his goal, making Pubetor roar in rage.
"Well whatever we do, we need to decide soon. I'm close to losing my mind." Chutzpah said as he threw darts at a dartboard. His next shot was thrown off when the area shook a little as their leader, Leaderaur, walked towards them all.
"I sense someone strong approaching." he rumbled, making the Manotaurs look up in surprise. A moment later, a portion of one of the cave walls was smashed in. All of the Manotaurs turned to see two silhouettes in the dust cloud. "Who dares intrude upon our Man Cave?" he growled.
"That would be us." Mandy said as the dust cleared, revealing herself and a waving Mindy behind her.
"Who are you?! What are you doing in our Man Cave?!" Testoteraur demanded.
"I'm Mindy. My violent friend here is Mandy." Mindy introduced with a smile.
"The reasons we're here is because I sensed strong individuals nearby." Mandy answered the second question. "And if you're angry about the wall, that was because we couldn't find the front door."
"Meh. We always crash in here through the wall." one of the Manotaurs said with a shrug.
"SILENCE!" Leaderaur bellowed before walking towards the two women, each step causing the place to shake. "This is the Man Cave, home of the Manotaurs. Why are you two females here?"
"Well, we were walking around and meeting some of the locals, listening to some stories and rumors about Gravity Falls." Mindy began before gesturing to Mandy. "When my friend here heard something about strong creatures called Manotaurs lived out here, she immediately wanted to meet you all."
"Why?" Chutzpah asked.
"I've been having a growing need to fight something, so I want to fight you all." Mandy proclaimed with her usual glare. The Manotaurs all just looked at her for a few moments...
"HAHAHAHAHAAAA!"
...before bursting out into hysterical laughter. Some of them were falling over and holding their ribs while others had tears in their eyes. Even Leaderaur was giving off a deep chuckle at Mandy's request before calming down.
"You wish to fight with us Manotaurs?" Leaderaur asked with a grin. "You make me laugh. Leave our Man Cave now before I stop finding the joke funny."
"You see me laughing?" Mandy asked, her glare hardening while Mindy simply watched. That wiped the grin off the Manotaurs faces.
"You are not worthy of fighting Manotaurs. Manotaurs are stronger, faster and simply better than females in everything!" Leaderaur boasted.
"Is that so?" Mandy asked with a raised eyebrow.
"It is so!" Leaderaur affirmed, the other Manotaurs all muttering and nodding in agreement. "Now be smart like your friend there and leave!" he demanded as he pointed at a retreating Mindy.
"You leaving?" Mandy asked.
"Just getting out of the way." Mindy said before smiling at Leaderaur. "Nice knowing you."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Leaderaur asked before Mandy grabbed one of his hooves with one hand and flipped him onto his back, causing him to land with a mighty thud. The stunned leader of the Manotaurs was dazed before he noticed Mandy standing on his chest and cracking her knuckles.
"It's means this is going to hurt." she said.
Lynn, Fink and Shannon stopped their conversation with the gnomes when they started to hear shouting and other noises coming from Man Cave.
"What's making that racket?" Shannon asked.
"Probably those Manotaurs having another 'Smash your head against the wall until only one is left conscious' contest." Jeff sighed before he and the other gnomes continued where they left off. "So, from what we heard from others, Ford and Stan tricked Bill into entering Stan's mind, giving Ford the chance to wipe Stan's mind, which wiped Bill from existence."
"Wow. So that's why everyone calls Stan the town hero?" Lynn asked.
"That's right. Luckily, thanks to his family, he was able to piece his mind back together until he remembered everything in only a few days. A happy ending for all...except for Bill and his minions."
"Gaz was right. This town's full of surprises." Fink said with a smirk. "So afterwards, the people were now privy to all you magical creatures and such?"
"That's right." Jeff replied before he and the gnomes all pulled out small ID cards, showing that they were official citizens of the town of Gravity Falls. "All of us mostly keep to ourselves and outside of human society unless it's something huge. Like if one species causes too much trouble for another, who we all elect for Mayor or when someone well known to all of Gravity Falls passes away."
"Like Old Man McGucket." one of the Gnomes said as he and all the others lowered their heads, sad expressions on their faces.
"Hey now. No more tears." Jeff said as he wiped his eyes and smiled. "We cried enough at the funeral. Any more and we'll flood this place." he joked before turning to the three women. "So, that's the story. What do you think?"
"I think my friends and I made the right choice in deciding to move here." Lynn said with a smile, which soon grew on everyone else's faces.
"Just remember to expect the unexpected." Jeff chuckled before blushing and poking his fingers together. "Also...about my earlier proposal-"
"NO, I WILL NOT BE YOUR GNOME QUEEN! QUIT ASKING!" a red faced Lynn roared, making the gnomes all run away in terror. "Sheesh! Take a hint already."
"Even telling them you're with Zim didn't deter them." said Fink.
"Hopefully they won't come around so much to wherever you and the others move to." Shannon said as they began they trek out of the woods and back towards town.
"You're talking like you won't be there." said Lynn.
"We won't. We're on vacation until Zim officially moves in somewhere." Fink reminded her.
"Oh yeah." Lynn said in realization before giving a sad smile. "Gonna miss our sparring sessions."
"Same here." Fink replied before smiling herself. "But hey. It's not like we're gone for good. With how fast Tal is, Shannon and I can come back whenever we can get a day off just like that." she finished with a snap of her fingers.
"TIMBERRRRR!"
The three of them stopped and looked when they heard a man shout, followed by a tree falling over a good distance from them.
"Hehehe. Wonder how many swings it took my dad to cut that one down." came a voice from above. The three of them looked up to see a woman sitting on a branch high in a tree looking out in the distance.
"Who are you?" Shannon asked as the woman leapt off the branch and landed in front of them. She was a young and thin woman in a green button up flanel shirt, blue jeans, muddy boots and a blue and white hat with a pine tree in the middle.
"Name's Wendy." she introduced. "And the man you heard yelling in the distance is my dad." she said before looking them over for a moment. "Never seen any of you before. You tourists?
"For the moment. I'm Lynn, by the way. These two are Shannon and Fink." Lynn introduced.
"Hi." Shannon said with a wave.
"Nice hat." Fink commented.
"Thanks." Wendy said as she fondly tipped it. "Enjoying the town so far?"
"Yeah. It's got a lot of space and nature. Perfect to run through or just relax in." Lynn commented.
"True. Still, there are a few things to watch out for. Like forest animals and such." Wendy said with a shrug.
"WEEEENDYYYYYY!"
"And that was one of them calling me." Wendy said with a sigh before walking in the direction her father called. "Come by my place later. I got a friend I want you to meet and we can talk there."
"See ya." Lynn said as they all waved at her.
Wendy was calmly walking through the woods before approaching a small area that was clear of trees, a large and muscular man tying logs together with some rope.
"Hey dad." Wendy greeted the man. The man finished tying the logs together before turning towards her, a stern frown on his face. "Oh great. That face." she grumbled before crossing her arms. "What'd I do wrong now?"
"It's what you're not doing, young lady. You're not cutting down trees!" he declared.
"How would you know? You spying on me?" she asked with a raised eyebrow. Manly Dan didn't answer her. He simply held his right hand up to his ear. "Uh-"
"Wait for it." he ordered.
"Timberrrr!" came a distant call before a tree falling was heard.
"Out of all the 'timbers' and trees falling that I've heard today, the ones I've been hearing from you are so small I could count them on one hand." he explained. "Why aren't you cutting down trees like brothers and I are?"
"I'm just taking a small break." Wendy cooly stated.
"You need a break from all the breaks you keep taking!" he said, his eyebrows furrowing in annoyance. "You're out here to work, not goof off and lounge about like you did at the Mystery Shack. And I bet you've been slacking off in perfecting your wood chopping technique, haven't you?"
"My technique is fine, dad." Wendy huffed. "Why are you being like this?"
"Like what?" he asked in confusion.
"You're on my case about working. And not just any work, but working as a lumberjack. What's up with that?" she asked.
"You're a Corduroy. The Corduroy family have been lumberjacks since before Gravity Falls was founded. It's an honorable job for honorable men." her father said with pride.
"The Corduroy men have all been lumberjacks, dad. Do I look like a man?" she asked.
"Despite the fact that you did that to yourself, no." he said as he looked at her thin frame. "But my point still stands. Besides, men like women who are tough. I certainly did when I met your mother." he said with a smile.
"Ugh, not this again." Wendy groaned with a roll of her eyes. "Pushing me to get a man for the hundredth time this week."
"Is it wrong that I don't want any of my kids to grow up single and alone?!" he snapped before looking off in the distance. "Besides, I want to be a grandfather."
"Then push those three stooges to find some girlfriends." Wendy suggested.
"I have, but they can't seem to get one." he said before scratching his chin. "Can't figure out why though."
"It's their approach." Wendy answered before turning and walking away.
"Where are you going?" asked her father.
"To do my job." she said with a wave of her hand.
"Uh, good. Good! Just...remember the techniques!" he yelled out to her.
"Yeah yeah." she answered before sighing and walking onwards while grumbling to herself. "Sheesh. He's acting like I'm in my late 30s. I can get a man any time I want. I just haven't found the right one."
"I know. Finding the right man is so hard." Lily said as she walked next to Wendy. "But when you find him, you'll know."
"How? I've dated so many guys, but none of them stuck." Wendy said with a sigh.
"What was wrong with them?" Lily asked.
"Some would stand me up. Some would fumble with their words. Some even just wanted to date me to prove that they could get together with me. Not exactly what I'm looking...for..." Wendy trailed off before stopping and looking at a smiling Lily.
"Hello." Lily greeted.
"What the-? Where'd you come from?" Wendy asked.
"Blame my parents." Lily giggled. "Name's Lily. And from the earlier conversation I just watched, your name must be Wendy, right?"
"That's right." Wendy nodded. "But seriously. Where did you come from? I didn't even hear your footsteps."
"Let's just say that I have a bit of a connection with nature." Lily said as she affectionately ran her hand over a nearby tree.
"You a hippie or something?" Wendy asked.
"Does this look like what a hippie would wear?" Lily asked as she gestured to her clothing. It was a simple yellow tube top and shorts. Her hair was tied up in a ponytail and her feet were bare.
"Good point." Wendy conceded before chuckling. "Might wanna watch out for some of the men in this town. I have a few friends and brothers that'd never leave you alone if they saw you."
"Would I like the approach I heard you mention?" Lily playfully asked.
"I don't know. Would you like a guy that comes up to you and rips his shirt off to show off his 'manly' chest hair?" Wendy asked with a smirk.
"Only if I could throw a lit match at them and watch them go up in smoke." Lily answered, making them both chuckle.
"I shouldn't find that funny." Wendy said, her mind showing her brothers burning up like they would in cartoons. "So, how long you been in Gravity Falls?"
"Only for a few hours." Lily answered as she walked behind the tree.
"You passing through or staying for a while?" Wendy asked.
"Actually, my friends and I are planning on moving here." Lily answered after stepping out from behind a tree opposite where Wendy was looking. Wendy spun around just in time to see Lily disappear behind another tree. She ran over and looked behind the tree, only to find that Lily had disappeared once again.
"What in the world?" She said as she looked around before she heard a whistle, making her look up at Lily as she waved from where she stood high up in a tree 20 feet away. "How...How are you doing that?" Wendy asked as she stared up at a smiling Lily. The youngest Loud's only response was to close her eyes and spread her arms out like an eagle. Wendy blinked before gasping when Lily suddenly tipped over backwards and fell out of the tree, her head on a collision course with the ground. "AAHH!" she screamed as Lily plunged towards the ground, her body sinking into the ground as if diving into a swimming pool...
Wait...what?
Wendy blinked before running over to where Lily had literally disappeared and began to feel the exact spot on the ground that Lily sunk into. She grabbed a handful of grassy dirt and raised it to her eyes before letting it fall back onto the ground, her eyes still wide and her mouth agape.
"I have seen a lot of weird shit in this town. How is it that seeing someone jump into the ground like that is freaky to me?" Wendy asked herself.
"Simple." Lily said from another high tree branch. Wendy looked up to see her walking along the long branch, her body looking like it was changing to a leafy green color. "You've probably seen everything this town has to offer. But me and my friends?" she said before laughing, her body suddenly shifting into leaves and blowing in the wind towards Wendy. "You haven't seen what we have to offer." came her voice on the wind before blowing away, leaving Wendy to watch as the leaves fly away. As she watched the leaves dance away on the wind, one thought ran through her mind.
Should she warn these strangers about Gravity Falls, or warn Gravity Falls about them?
