In response to Namikaze Yo, the answer is yes, I do intend to continue the other one. I'm still planning out the next chapter, though, so it will be a while.

Chapter Three

The Heir of Mizar

(Unknown world, unknown location)

Asuka looked at Akiru with concern as he sat slumped against the wall of the partially collapsed tunnel, Homura keeping an eye out for trouble. The young man was silent, then stood up, getting Asuka's attention. "Akiru?" Facing her, he said, "I'm going to follow that guy's trail. Whatever or whoever he is, I'm not letting him get away with taking my sister." Homura walked in. "What about that card he dropped? You seemed very surprised by it." Facing the tan-skinned girl, he said, "I was surprised because it has what looks like a Number Crest on the artwork."

Both girls looked at each other, then back at him, the yellow-eyed brunette speaking up. "You mean like on a Number Card?" He nodded. "There are only a hundred, starting at 0, which is technically called a Future Number, and ending at Number 99." Asuka asked, "What's the card's name?" Akiru sighed. "I have no idea. I can't read it." Homura cocked her head in surprise. "You can't read it?" The young man replied, "It's in some other language, and not one I've ever seen before." He showed them the card.

Looking it over, the yellow-eyed girl said, "It looks cool, if nothing else." He replied, "Yeah, but since I can't read it, I can't use it." Shrugging, he added, "Still, it'd make a hell of a collector's item back home." Putting it into his pocket, he got up. "So, safe to say we're not in Usaka anymore." Homura commented, "Maybe not on Earth, either." As he looked around, he said, "Well, that guy took off that way, so that's probably our best bet." Both girls nodded, before Asuka looked at Homura with a concerned expression, the latter patting her shoulder to comfort her.

As they began to walk, Akiru spoke up again. "Oh, by the way, I understand you two are from Asakusa. I didn't have a chance to talk to you about it earlier." The yellow-eyed girl replied, "Yeah, we are. I was born and raised there." The tan-skinned girl chimed in, "I ended up there a couple years ago." The young man replied, "So you're a drifter." Homura shrugged. "I was for a while." Stepping over a piece of concrete, Akiru spoke up. "So where did you guys go to school before Jurin, and what brought you there?"

Both girls froze in place, which did not escape his attention. "If we're going to get through this, we're going to have to trust each other. Nothing you tell me will reach the ears of anyone, not even Mom." Asuka sighed, and asked him, "How much do you know about the Shinobi?" The young man replied, "Not a whole lot. It's been a while since I researched them for a school assignment." The tan-skinned girl replied, "You're talking to two former Shinobi." Upon hearing that, he stopped in his tracks, then slowly faced them. "What?"

The yellow-eyed brunette faced him, saying, "You heard us. We've noticed how quick you are to catch that sort of thing." The young man replied, "In fact, I did." Facing them again, he asked, "So the Shinobi weren't disbanded at the end of the Feudal Era?" They both shook their heads. Akiru decided to press further, asking, "So did you guys decide you didn't like it?" Without missing a beat, Homura replied, "You're being way too calm for a guy who just received a bombshell like that." He coolly replied, "Oh, I'm freaking out. I just think it's cool." The tan-skinned girl replied, "Touché."

Asuka replied, "No, we were expelled." Akiru faced her upon hearing that. "Expelled? What'd you do, kill your teacher or something?" The yellow-eyed girl replied, "No, I attacked a fellow student in a fit of rage after they killed an innocent boy who was controlled by what's called a Yoma." The young man cocked his head. "Yoma are real? Huh..." Shaking his head to regain his focus, he asked, "And what about you, Homura?" She sighed, and told him, "My team got wiped out, I was the only one left, so I turned myself in, and they decided to be lenient."

Akiru raised an eyebrow. "Why would they blame you for your team getting wiped out?" Rolling her eyes, the tan-skinned girl replied, "No, I was a renegade. That's why." He nodded in understanding, then looked forward again. "I guess I should tell you my full story, then. I used to want to be a Pro Duelist when I was a kid." Facing them, he added, "I know it's not as exciting as what you two were living, but it kinda ended a similar way. I entered a tournament when I was eight, the Junior Nationals. It was for kids who had an interest in professional Dueling."

Continuing after looking ahead, he said, "Long story short, I won the whole thing, but got accused of cheating by some of the other kids. It was proven that I won fair and square, but ever since then I haven't entered a tournament of any kind. I've always hated playing with kids who are sore losers." Homura stared at him with a sympathetic expression, while Asuka walked up to him and gave him a hug. "We know you're no cheater, Akiru. It's not your fault they're jealous." Akiru was surprised, but replied, "Thank you."

As they got ready to move on, red energy erupted in front of them, a figure emerging. He had pale blue skin, some blue gems along his body, gray hair, a mask covering his face, and gray eyes focused on them, which was making the girls very nervous, while Akiru narrowed his eyes. Looking the trio over, the figure spoke. "Didn't Mizar pick you up?" Homura cocked her head, which didn't escape the figure's notice or Akiru's. The young man asked in response, "Who's Mizar, and more importantly, who the hell are you?"

The figure replied, "My name is Dumon, one of the seven Barian Emperors. Mizar is another of the Emperors." The tan-skinned girl spoke up. "Hold on, why do you seem so familiar?" Dumon faced her, and chuckled to himself. "Of course, you haven't seen me in this form before." Concentrating, he changed into a human form, retaining his hair color and eye color, but garbed in pants, a white shirt, a dark gray vest over his shirt, and glasses, Akiru speaking up. "Wait a minute, we met at that tournament!"

The Emperor chuckled in response. "Yes, I do remember that. Your father was very impressed with your performance." The young man's eyes widened. "Dad was there?!" Asuka turned to her friend, who was shaking in surprise. "Homura?" Dumon faced them, his expression turning to a soft one. "Hello, Homura. It's been a long time." Even without knowing their history, Akiru could tell that the tan-skinned girl was greatly resisting the urge to throttle the Emperor, though she was making a fist. Asuka noticed and gently gripped her friend's wrist. "Easy. Let's use words."

Before Homura could say anything, another batch of red energy appeared nearby, revealing a figure with blue skin, their green eyes looking at Akiru. "Well, well, three of them. My lucky day." Dumon returned to his Barian form, and said, "Stand down, or I will have to destroy you." The newcomer spoke up. "Did I offer a choice?" He tossed up a cube containg a red gem, immediately getting Dumon's attention. "All of you, back!" While Asuka and Homura managed to avoid it, Akiru was pulled in to what looked like a sphere lined with squares of red energy.

The young man looked around, then turned to the newcomer appearing in front of him again. "I'll deal with the other two later. since I sense that you're the strongest of the three of you." Akiru remained silent, waiting. The newcomer spoke again. "I am Corwan, the harbinger of your doom! Now, prepare to Duel!" As he began to form what looked like a Duel Disk, the young man finally spoke up. "Are you gay?" There was a brief pause, followed by giggling from Asuka, before Corwan spoke up. "No, I'm not gay! I'm not gay!"

Unconvinced, the young man replied, "You sure? You look like you're gay." Homura snickered into her hand while Asuka held her stomach from laughter, Dumon chuckling along. Akiru's opponent growled in frustration. "Just ready your Duel Disk!" Rolling his eyes, Akiru activated it, ready. "Whatever." As number coding appeared around them, getting Akiru's attention, a computer voice spoke up around them. "Augmented reality vision link established.", with a very confused Akiru asking, "What?"

(Corwan: 4000)

(Akiru: 4000)

Corwan gripped the top card of his Deck, and called out, "I'll go first! I Draw!" Grinning under his mask, he said, "I Summon Dark Crusader to the field in Attack Mode!" As he slapped the card onto his Duel Disk, A cloaked warrior in dark armor holding a greatsword rose in front of him.

(Dark Crusader appeared: a level 4 monster with 1600 ATK)

The young man waited to see what would happen next. "Is that the best you can do?" Corwan continued. "I'll now activate the Spell Card Double Summon, which will allow me to Normal Summon a second time this turn!" Rolling his eyes, Akiru replied, "All right, still not worried." Corwan growled. "You will be after this! I Summon Dark Blade!" A dark armored warrior in a cloak wielding two swords leapt onto the field, brandishing his blades.

(Dark Blade appeared: a level 4 monster with 1800 ATK)

The young man's opponent continued. "I now activate the Spell Card Dark World Dealings! This will allow us each to draw one card, so long as we discard a card afterwards!" Drawing his card, he grinned as he discarded another. Akiru remained unconcerned as he drew his new card, then discarded one, deciding, 'It'll come in handy later.' His opponent continued. "I now activate Premature Burial! By paying 800 of my own Life Points, I can revive a monster from my Graveyard, such as my Prometheus, King of the Shadows!" A dark being with fiery hair and gold pieces on his armor rose up.

(Prometheus, King of the Shadows appeared: a level 4 monster with 1200 ATK)

Akiru looked over his opponent's field, then realized what was coming. "You're going to Xyz Summon." Corwan replied, "Very astute. I Overlay level 4 Dark Crusader, Dark Blade, and Prometheus, King of the Shadows! With these two monsters, I build the Overlay Network, and unleash a card unlike anything you've seen before!" As he said this, the three mentioned monsters flew up, before being absorbed in a circular portal, which then exploded, revealing the new monster, a skeletal figure in a cloak seeming to glare at Akiru. "Welcome to the field, Crossroads Reaper!"

(Crossroads Reaper appeared: a Rank 4 Xyz monster with 2200 ATK and 3 Overlay Units)

Both girls stared at it in confusion, while Akiru cocked his head. "I've certainly never heard of that card before." Corwan replied, "Prepare to have your mind blown. He has three special abilities, but I can only use each of them once per Duel. I'll start with this one. By using one Overlay Unit, I can cut your Life Points in half!" Akiru's eyes widened. "What?!" As the skeletal figure aimed its hand and blasted him back, Akiru felt sharp pain going through his body, screaming out in response as he hit the wall of the sphere, red lightning dancing across his body.

(Akiru: 2000)

Getting up painfully, Akiru gasped for air. "What the hell...?" Corwan explained. "You see, boy, in a Varia Sphere Field, which is what we're in now, all the damage is real!" Gritting his teeth, Akiru got on his feet again. "You still can't attack me this turn, and you can't use that effect again." Corwan nodded, and said, "I will end my turn." Akiru drew his card with a glare at his opponent, then looked it over. 'Well, I could go for the card I won in that tournament, but that wouldn't really stop him from utilizing the other two effects.'

As he thought this, a voice entered his mind. "Are you so sure of defeat?" As he heard that, a sharp pain went through his head, and he dropped to his knees, crying out. The voice continued. "Do you truly accept what is? What is meant to be comes about from what one does. It is your will that will bring your victory to life! You need only wield it! Now, accept who you really are. Rise, and let your crusade begin!" Getting up, Akiru glared at his opponent, his eyes glowing yellow as his body became enveloped in blue energy, surprising everyone there except Dumon.

"So he's accepted who he really is." As Asuka and Homura looked at Dumon in confusion, Corwan's eyes widened as he realized what was happening. "No!" The energy began to reveal Akiru again, leaving his hands, which now had a dark metallic appearance with bioluminescent blue fingers, his arms appearing metallic as well, his feet appearing to be metallic shoes with glowing blue soles, his legs having a dark and white alternating metallic appearance, his torso having a similar appearance to his arms, but with a blue diamond shaped area in the center of his chest brimming with energy, which extended into two lines, one each leading to his shoulders and over them, which appeared to be covered in small pauldrons.

Topping off the transformation was blue hair reaching down to his ankles, a while face, and yellow eyes as he opened them, filled with power, his presence felt by all the beings in the world they were in. As Corwan stared in fear, a metallic-appearing mouthguard with blue energy lines appeared over the young man's mouth, his eyes now changing color, his right being a dark blue, and his left being a bright red. Speaking up in his new form, Akiru said, "You shouldn't have messed with me, asshole."

Taking his turn, he said, "I activate the effect of Nebula Dragon in my hand! While I have a level 8 Dragon-type monster, I can Summon both it and Nebula Dragon to the field in Defense Mode, with their abilities negated! So welcome Nebula Dragon and one of my sister's favorites, Rabidragon!" As Akiru slapped the cards onto his new Duel Disk, which looked similar to his old one but made of a similar material as his new form, with a bright blue blade, a yellow dragon with glowing light blue wings and a dragon with an appearance like a rabbit rose up.

(Nebula Dragon appeared: a level 8 monster with 0 DEF)

(Rabidragon appeared: a level 8 monster with 2900 DEF)

Dumon spoke up. "Two level eight monsters..." Both girls looked at each other. "But he doesn't have any Rank 8 Xyz monsters." Dumon replied, "Are you sure?" Akiru yelled out, "I Overlay level 8 Nebula Dragon and Rabidragon! With these two monsters, I build the Overlay Network!" Closing his eyes as a galaxy portal opened in front of him, he began to chant. "Master of reality bound in chains, cast off your shackles and break free!" As he said this, a giant blue crystal rose out of the portal, which then shattered into thousands of pieces, before beginning to assemble itself.

Everyone present aside from Akiru could only stare in amazement, as the pieces assembled a dragon with black scales, glowing blue claws, glowing blue horns on its head, a glowing blue tip on its tail, glowing blue wings which spread apart, and dark blue eyes shaped like galaxies, the number 114 glowing in blue on the right side of its chest. The young man called out, "Stand, my brother! Number 114: Galaxy-Eyes Plasma Dragon!" His new dragon let out a blood curling roar, Corwan trembling in fear.

(Number 114: Galaxy-Eyes Plasma Dragon appeared: a Rank 8 Xyz monster with 3000 ATK and 2 Overlay Units)

Asuka and Homura both realized what it was. "That was the card he picked up earlier!" His eyes focused on his opponent, Akiru called out, "Game over. Galaxy-Eyes Plasma Dragon, attack his Crossroads Reaper! Plasma Scourge of Destruction!" The dragon began to breath in energy, as Corwan called out, "I activate a hand Trap, Dark Shield! I take no damage from this battle!" Akiru was quick to respond. "Not happening! I activate my Galaxy-Eyes Plasma Dragon's ability! By discarding one card from my hand, Dark Shield is negated and shuffled back into the deck, then I activate a new Trap Card in its place, of my choice!"

Corwan grimaced as his Trap list appeared to Akiru, who grinned under his mouth guard at the sight of one of them. "Castle Walls, huh? Be a shame if you had to activate it now, wouldn't it?" Corwan gulped as Akiru said, "As its owner, you choose the target, but it's the one I'm activating!" As Castle Walls appeared on the field, Corwan replied, "My target is Crossroads Reaper, though I know it won't do any good."

(Crossroads Reaper's DEF: 1800)

Akiru called out, "You're not getting away that easy. I activate the abiltiy of Honest in my hand! By discarding it, my Dragon gains Attack Points equal to your Crossroads Reaper, and it just so happens I have two copies of Honest in my hand!" The dragon roared again as it grew stronger.

(Galaxy-Eyes Plasma Dragon's ATK: 7400)

The young man yelled out, "Finish this! Plasma Scourge of Destruction!" The dragon unleashed the energy it had built up, a massive beam blasting out and completely incinerating the skeletal figure, leaving nothing behind, and sending Corwan flying into the sphere field wall, red lightning dancing on his body.

(Corwan: 0)

(Akiru: WIN)

As the field began to vanish and the Sphere Field shattered, Akiru's eyes returned to yellow as he approached his fallen opponent, who got up. Facing the young man, Corwan said, "This isn't over." With that, he ran off. Asuka ran over to Akiru and asked, "I thought you couldn't read it?" Dumon spoke up. "I will be more than happy to explain that." As they faced him, he said, "Akiru has awoken to his true form, as a Barian. He's the son of Mizar, and as such, will inherit Mizar's throne and power when the time is right." The newly awoken Barian faced Dumon in surprise. "I'm a what?"

A/N

Originally, I was going to have another person be with them, but I decided to go with this. And yes, I know Akiru's new Number seems overkill, but I noticed a bit of a trend with the Galaxy-Eyes dragons. If anyone wants to know what that trend is, feel free to ask in the comments.

Update- The OC cards used in this chapter.

Crossroads Reaper

Attribute: DARK

Rank: 4

ATK: 2200

DEF: 1300

Type: Fiend/Xyz/Effect

Summoning requirements: 3 level 4 monsters

*Double your Life Points
*Each player draws 1 card, then discards 1 card.

Number 114: Galaxy-Eyes Plasma Dragon

Attribute: LIGHT

Rank: 8

ATK: 3000

DEF: 2500

Type: Dragon/Xyz/Effect

Summoning requirements: 2 level 8 monsters

Effect: If this card destroys a monster by battle, it gains 500 ATK. Once per turn, during either player's turn, if your opponent activates a card effect, you can discard 1 card from your hand; negate the activation, shuffle the card back into the Deck, then apply one of the following effects, depending on the type of card returned to the Deck:
*Monster: Special Summon 1 monster from your opponent's Deck to their field, ignoring any Summoning conditions (you choose the Battle Position)
*Spell/Trap: Activate 1 Spell/Trap Card from your opponent's Deck if the activation timing is correct. (If the Spell/Trap Card targets a card, your opponent chooses the target)
If this card would be destroyed, you can Detach 1 Xyz Material instead.

NOTE: I'm aware that Galaxy-Eyes Plasma's effect may seem broken. It's intended to be a dragon that can bend reality to its will, like how another Galaxy-Eyes dragon can bend time to its will.
