Though not my initial plan, I've decided to do two things at once.
Previously,
Asuka and Homura have been exiled from the Shinobi. Starting a new life in the small city of Usaka with their new friends Akiru, and his sister Kotori, the former Shinobi and their new friends are pulled into another world, where Kotori has been separated from the group, and Akiru and Homura have evolved into more powerful beings called Barians, each the heir to an Emperor of this new world...
Chapter Five
The Battle of the Dragon Sanctuary (Part One)
(Dragon Sanctuary)
Mizar watched Kotori sit near the grey dragon, its eagle-like wings wrapped protectively around her. Having sensed his son's transformation into a Barian, he knew it wouldn't be long until he and the others arrived. Jinlon walked over to him. "Your daughter is quite charming, old friend." The dragon Emperor replied, "She still has much to learn. Hopefully her brother's transformation will aid with that." His old mentor replied, "Speaking of, I sensed his dragon's power once he Summoned it. You have given him a dragon with power equal to your own dragon."
The Emperor chuckled, and replied, "Considering what needs to happen, he needs all the power he can get." Jinlon noticed individuals approaching and called out, "Welcome, Lord Dumon." Mizar turned to face his fellow Emperor, and was shocked to see his son's Barian form, the boy facing him in shock as well. As his mask vanished, the dragon Emperor approached his son with a smile. "Well done on achieving your Barian form, Akiru." The newborn Barian replied, "Dad?" Mizar embraced his son, saying, "Your mother would be proud."
As he said that, Kotori noticed the interaction and ran over. "Akiru?!" Looking at his sister, he said, "Thank God you're all right." The younger sibling replied in a loud voice, "What happened to you?!" Covering his ears from the outburst, Akiru muttered, "Where's Mom when I need her to tell you to keep your voice down?" Blushing in embarrassment, Kotori glared at her brother, Mizar laughing to himself. Homura shook her head with a smile under her mask, Dumon watching the interaction with amusement. As Asuka tried to resist the urge to laugh, a portal opened nearby, and five individuals fell through, landing in a dog pile in front of everyone.
The one on top, a pig-tailed brunette, got up, and, upon seeing Asuka, waved excitedly and said, "Hi, Asuka-chan!" The yellow-eyed brunette's eyes widened. "Minori?" The others started getting up, a blue-haired girl going over to Minori. "Are you okay?" The pig-tailed girl replied, "Yep! I landed on something soft!" Another girl, with a long side ponytail and an oni mask replied, "That was my butt." Minori replied, "Oh, that's what it was?" The blue-haired girl replied, "Minori, apologize." The younger girl replied, "Oh, right, sorry." The oni-masked girl replied, "Don't worry about it." Spotting Akiru, who was staring in complete confusion, she said, "My name's Murakumo."
The young man deadpanned, "That's not the issue here." The fourth girl walked over with a grin, her blond hair going behind her as she spoke up. "Dude, like, that hair is amazing! Do you wanna style later?" Without missing a beat, he replied, "I'm a guy." The blonde backed off upon hearing that. "Oh, whoops. Sorry 'bout that. The name's Shiki, by the way." The blue-haired girl spoke up. "Oh, right, I never said my name. I'm Yozakura." He nodded in greeting, as the last girl walked over, her short gray hair held in place with a ribbon, her piercing blue eyes focused on Akiru. "I apologize for the confusion this must have caused."
He replied, "It's all right. I've kinda gotten used to weirdness in the last few hours." She nodded in understanding, and said, "I am Yumi." The young man replied, "My name is Akiru Hirasu." Yumi bowed politely, and said, "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Hirasu-kun." He immediately replied, "Please, call me Akiru. I'm not one for honorifics." The grey-haired girl replied, "My apologies." Asuka ran over. "Yumi-chan!" She faced the brunette in surprise. "Asuka-san?" Asuka promptly proceeded to hug Yumi, which, after a brief pause due to surprise, the grey-haired girl returned the gesture.
The young man turned to Homura, asking, "You guys know them?" The red-haired girl replied, "Yeah, we've bumped into each other a few times." All five of the new arrivals turned to her, Yumi voicing what they were all thinking. "H-Homura-san?!" The aforementioned girl raised her hand and said, "Hi." As the five were about to ask what she had become, another portal appeared, and out of it stepped a Barian with gray skin, and what looked like wings on his back, his gray hair in a mohawk style. Dumon faced the newcomer and nodded to him. "Hello, Vector." The newcomer faced Akiru and Homura and grinned under his mask. "So two of the Heirs have awoken. Excellent."
Mizar spoke up. "What brings you here, Vector?" Upon hearing the question, Vector turned to Mizar and replied, "I wanted to inform you that several Rebel Duelists are on their way here now. I spotted them entering the region about ten minutes ago." Dumon sighed to himself. "That means they're almost upon us." Akiru faced his father and said, "I'm more than willing to face them." With a smirk, he added, "They'll be good training dummies for my new dragon." Mizar replied, "Not on your own, Akiru. Even a Galaxy-Eyes would be hard pressed against an army of monsters."
Homura spoke up. "Count me in, too." Cracking her knuckles, she added, "I enjoy a good fight." Dumon spoke up. "I'll aid as well." Mizar nodded in gratitude to his fellow Emperor, then turned to Vector. "Will you aid us as well, or will you inform Marin and the others of this attack?" The third Emperor replied, "I do need to entertain the new arrivals, so I will fight as well." Kotori looked at her brother and asked, "What new dragon?" With a grin as his mask reformed, he replied, "Stay here and enjoy the show." The three Emperors and the two awakened Heirs stepped forward to confront their attackers.
Five Barians appeared before them, led by Corwan, earning a snicker from Akiru. Facing him, Homura asked, "What's so funny?" The young man replied, "He brought his harem with him this time." She laughed in response. Furious, Corwan called out, "Will you stop saying that?!" Akiru replied, "As soon as I run out of gay jokes." Without missing a beat, Homura added, "That might take a couple months." The young man replied, "No, more like six, probably." Dumon spoke up. "As entertaining as your banter is, we do have a job to do." Akiru replied, "Right, sorry."
Growling, Corwan called out, "You know what, boys? The boy and the girl are mine! Deal with the Emperors as you see fit!" Mizar spoke up. "Don't be so sure about that, Rebel. You are in the Dragon Sanctuary now. That means you will face me as well!" With that, his Duel Disk appeared on his left arm, his Deck ready. Corwan replied, "I'll face all three of you, then!" The Rebel's Duel Disk appeared on his arm. Akiru called out, "If you couldn't beat me one-on-one, there's no way in hell you'll beat all three of us!" His Duel Disk formed as well, his left eye turning red, and his right eye turning blue.
The Heir of Dumon said to Corwan, "I'll burn away that arrogance!" as her Duel Disk formed on her arm in a display of fire. As all four participants drew their starting hands, Corwan called out, "Since this is three against one, you'll each have 4000 Life Points, whereas I will have 12,000 Life Points. Also, none of us can attack on the first turn!" Homura replied, "Fine by me." The young man added, "Got to give you a fair chance either way." The Dragon Emperor finished with, "You'll wish you had fled at the sight of us!" Ready, all four called out, "Let's Duel!"

The Rebel called out, "I Draw!" Upon seeing his card, he said, "I'll activate the Spell Card Xyz Rising! As the newborns are already aware, I can reveal to you one Xyz monster from my Extra Deck, then Summon its required materials to my side of the field from my Deck!" Akiru deadpanned, "I really don't like that card." Corwan revealed his signature monster, and said, "Come forth, three Dark Blades!" As he put the cards on his Duel Disk, three dark robed warriors in armor appeared, each holding two swords.

Continuing, the Rebel called out, "I Overlay all three level 4 Dark Blades!" As the three monsters soared into the air, Corwan called out, "With these three monsters, I build the Overlay Network, and Xyz Summon Crossroads Reaper!" From the Overlay Network came a skeletal figure in a robe, holding a massive scythe, with a cross-shaped pendant on its neck. Swinging the scythe forward in challenge, the figure let out a threatening scream.

Homura narrowed her eyes. "Here we go..." Corwan called out, "I activate Crossroads Repear's Special Ability! By using one Overlay Unit, I can activate one of three effects! However, I can only use each effect once per Duel. I choose the effect to cut Mizar's Life Points in half!" The Dragon Emperor barely flinched as the Reaper launched a shockwave at him.

Akiru spoke up. "You'll regret that." Corwan chuckled in response. "We'll see. I end my turn with one card Face-Down!" Mizar spoke up. "An impressive monster, but nothing more. Let me show you the strength of a Dragon Master! I Draw!" Grinning under his mask, Mizar called out, "Since you have an Xyz Monster in play, I can Special Summon Radius the Half-Moon Dragon from my hand!" As he put the card on his Duel Disk, a dragon with four half-moon shaped wings appeared, roaring at the enemy.

Akiru was surprised. "Huh? Why did its level go up?" His father explained, "When Summoned through that effect, he becomes level 8. To continue my turn, I Summon Parsec the Interstellar Dragon!" In front of him rose a dragon with scythe-like wings roaring in defiance.

Before his son could speak up again, Mizar revealed, "While I control a level 8 monster, I can Summon Parsec without Tributing!" Tilting his head, Akiru commented, "That's useful." With a grin under his mask, the Dragon Emperor replied, "You haven't seen anything yet. I Overlay level 8 Radius the Half-Moon Dragon and Parsec the Interstellar Dragon!" As the two dragons flew into the air in streams of light, a galaxy-shaped portal appeared before Mizar, who continued, "With these two monsters, I build the Overlay Network and Xyz Summon a monster more powerful than a cosmic storm, a behemoth with the ability to bend time to do its will!"
As he said this, a reverse pyramid rose from the portal coated in red and blue gems, which resonated light. Mizar chanted, "Roar throughout the entire universe! Revive, from the source of all galaxies, that flows from far back in time! Manifest yourself, and lead us to victory! Number 107: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon!" With the chant finished, the Number 107 flashed in purple, before the reverse pyramid transformed into a massive mechanical dragon, particles dancing over its black-purple scales, its yellow eyes glistening as it let out a blood-curdling roar at its soon-to-be victim, the Number crest on the right side of its head.

Akiru looked at the dragon for a minute, then back at his father. "How many Galaxy-Eyes are there?" The Dragon Emperor replied, "We'll have plenty of time to discuss that once we send our guest on his way." Turning back to the Rebel, he added, "And I intend to get my point across. I'll end my turn by putting one card Face-Down!" As the face-down card appeared in front of him, he nodded to his son. "Show me your Number, Akiru." With a grin, the young man replied, "With pleasure. I Draw!" Grinning at his card, he said, "I activate the Spell Card Dragon Shrine! This will let me send a Dragon-type monster from my Deck to my Graveyard! And if I send a Normal Dragon-type, I get to send a second Dragon, too!"
Selecting two cards and sending them to his Graveyard, Akiru said, "Now I activate the Spell Card Silver's Cry, which lets me Special Summon a Normal Dragon-type monster in my Graveyard!" Corwan tilted his head. "What good will a Normal monster do you?" The young man replied, "Watch and learn, Corwan. I Summon from my Graveyard Blue-Eyes White Dragon!" As he spoke, a large dragon with whiteish-bluish scales and blue eyes rose from the Graveyard, letting out a roar of defiance.

Homura stared at it in amazement. "That dragon looks amazing!" Mizar took note of the card on his son's Duel Disk, and asked, "Is that one of the originals?" The young man replied, "I'll explain later." Facing Corwan again, he said, "Now I'll Summon my Heliosphere Dragon!" As he said this, a dragon with purple-pink wings appeared in front of him.

The Rebel saw this, and burst out laughing. "That monster is pathetic!" The Dragon Emperor replied, "Don't be so sure." Upon seeing the Rebel's confused expression, Akiru replied, "For starters, while I have a level 8 Dragon-type monster on my field, Heliosphere Dragon becomes level 8 until the end of the turn!"

The young man continued and said, "I Overlay level 8 Blue-Eyes White Dragon and level 8 Heliosphere Dragon!" As the two monsters became streams of light and flew up, he added, "With these two monsters, I build the Overlay Network!" As he spoke, the galaxy portal appeared and a large crystal rose from it. Gaze on his opponent, Akiru chanted, "Master of reality bound in chains, cast off your shackles and break free! Stand before us, Number 114: Galaxy-Eyes Plasma Dragon!" As he spoke, the crystal shattered into millions of light fragments, before assembling into a black dragon with bioluminiscent blue horns on its head, claws on its feet and hands, wings that spread out, and a tip on its tail, its teeth glowing as well, with dark-blue galaxy-shaped eyes on its target, the Number 114 on its right chest, roaring in defiance.

Homura commented, "I feel kinda out of place now." Corwan groaned. "I hate that monster with a passion." Smirking, the young man commented, "Then today's not your lucky day." Continuing with his turn, he said, "I'll put this card Face-Down and end my turn!" Homura drew her card with a grin. "My turn!" Looking over her options, she said, "I Summon Noble Knight Borz!" An armored warrior with a red cape and a gold chalice appeared in front of the girl.

The Heir of Dumon explained, "While he's on the field, he's treated as a Normal Monster unless I equip a Noble Arms card, which I won't need to do. Since I now control a Light Normal monster, I can Special Summon Noble Knight Gawayn from my hand in Defense Mode!"
(Noble Knight Gawayn appeared: a level 4 monster with 500 DEF)
Plucking another card, she added, "Here's the fun part. I have two Gawayns in my hand, so I'll Summon the second copy through his own ability!"

Akiru grinned under his mask. "Have fun." Grinning under her own, she said, "I plan to. I Overlay level 4 Noble Knight Borz and two Noble Knight Gawayns!" As the three monsters swirled into the air as streams of light, a galaxy portal opened in front of Homura, who continued. "With these three monsters, I build the Overlay Network!" Closing her eyes, she began to chant. "Crimson lotus bathed in flame, blossom and spring to life!" As she spoke, a burning rose rose from the Overlay Network, and she called out, "I Xyz Summon Number 109: Crimson Guardian!" The monster's sealed form exploded in flame, and a woman holding a sword with flames dancing around her appeared, the Number Crest glowing orange on her left shoulder.

Corwan sighed. "Of course you Summoned it in one turn." Akiru chimed in. "You shouldn't be surprised. She is the daughter of one of the Emperors." Mizar faced his son, impressed. "You're handling this better than I was expecting." Without missing a beat, the young man replied, "Oh, I'm freaking out. I just think it's cool." The Dragon Emperor nodded in understand with an "Ah.", then turned back to the Rebel. Homura called out, "I'll equip Crimson Guardian with Noble Arms- Caliburn!" As she said this, a new sword appeared in the woman's hand, who held it at the ready.

Akiru looked over. "Oh, yeah, it gives the equipped monster 500 Attack Points. I'd honestly forgotten about that." Homura chuckled, then faced the Rebel again. "I'll activate Caliburn's second effect, which lets me gain 500 Life Points once per turn during my Main Phase."
(Homura: 4500)
Closing her eyes, she said, "I can't attack this turn, so I'll end it there." The Rebel drew his card, then said, "I'll activate Crossroads Reaper's next ability! At the cost of one Overlay Unit, each player can now draw a card, as long as they discard a card afterwards."

Akiru tilted his head in confusion. "Really?" Looking at his Deck, he simply added, "Okay." Each player drew a card, then discarded a card, Mizar noticing the artwork on Akiru's. Corwan continued. "I'll now activate the Spell Card Lightning Vortex! By discarding a card, I can destroy all Face-Up monsters you three control!" Akiru was faster. "I activate Galaxy-Eyes Plasma Dragon's ability! By discarding a card of my own, I can negate the activation, return the negated card to the Deck, then make you activate a new card of the same type, in this case, a Spell Card, as long as it can be activated now. Let's see what you've got."
Looking over Corwan's cards while the latter grumbled to himself, Akiru made his choice. "I'll have you activate Upstart Goblin, which has you Draw a card, then one of us gets 1000 Life Points. It's your choice who gets the Life Points." Corwan sighed as he drew his new card after his Deck was shuffled, and said, "I'll choose Mizar to get the Life Points. The girl certainly isn't getting them." Homura shrugged in response, not caring.
(Mizar: 3000)
Looking at the card he drew, the Rebel said, "What the...? All right, I activate a second Upstart Goblin!" Drawing another card, he said, "Once again, I give the 1000 Life Points to Mizar."
(Mizar: 4000)
Looking at the new card, he called out, "Oh, God damn it! I activate a third Upstart Goblin!" Akiru burst out laughing in response, saying, "Boy, that's some rotten luck." Drawing the new card again, Corwan said, "Yes, no thanks to you, boy! Just for that, Mizar gets the Life Points again!"
(Mizar: 5000)
Looking at the third card he'd drawn, Corwan grinned. "Finally, something I can use! I activate the Spell Card Crossroads Cannon! By having Crossroads Reaper give up its last Overlay Unit, I can cut my opponent's Life Points in half, and this time, I'll target the boy since he has the most powerful monster in play currently!" As he said this, a giant cannon appeared on the Rebel's field, launching a blast of energy that knocked Akiru back, landing on the ground with a soft grunt.

Corwan called out, "Your Number can't protect you from everything, boy!" Getting up, the young man said, "I know. There's no such thing as a perfect card." As the Rebel looked at him in confusion, the Heir of Mizar explained, "Every card has a weakness. I can only use Plasma's main ability once per turn." Homura looked at him in surprise. "You mean he has more than one?" Mizar chuckled, "Naturally, as a Galaxy-Eyes, it holds untamed power." Facing the Rebel again, Akiru said, "But you're going to have to get very creative if you want to take me down! I won't go without a fight! That, I promise!"
As he spoke, Galaxy-Eyes Plasma Dragon roared in defiance, a voice echoing in the area around them, saying, "It is my master's will that shall bring you to ruin, Rebel. I will stand with the Heir of Mizar to the end!" Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon dragon roared out as well, another voice speaking up. "In the end, you were a fool to face two of us at once. You would be wise to flee now, while you still can." Corwan laughed in response to their threat, saying, "Oh, we've only just begun." As he finished, a dark aura surrounded him, Mizar narrowing his eyes at the development. "He has yet to unleash his strongest weapon."

This chapter took a lot longer than usual, primarily due to lack of time to work on it. You won't be seeing any new Numbers quite yet, I'm afraid. We still have a ways to go before that.
