December 20 2034, The final battle of the "Magical girl war."
"SAYAKAAAAAAAA!" Kyoko Sakura screamed as she fell on her knees in tears and horror. All the while Homura Akemi jumped down and faced down the redheaded spear wielder with a predatory gaze. Just now her partner was brutally killed anew by a massive explosion as blood rained down from the heavens and poured on the remaining combatants.
"Tastes like canned tuna." Homura jokes as she licks off the blood of Sayaka that rains down on her body.
"You bleepin cunt!" Kyoko screams out as she charges at the demon king with her spear thrusting at her vitals with fierce precision only for Homura to dodge or block all the blows.
"Such foul language. Do you really kiss Sayaka Miki with that mouth?" Homura remarks with a cheeky smirk which further pisses off Kyoko.
"Just die already!" Kyoko remarks as she backs off and splits apart her spear into her chain whip mode. Tying up Homura who merely scoffs at her attempts.
"Oh so you like it rough. I see Miki was into bondage too..." Homura further snarks before Kyoko lifts her with her spear and smashes her head into the ground so hard that it causes the ground to split apart. Before retracting her chain back into her spear and skewering her heart clean thru in one blow. With a blow so forceful that blood sprayed out and showered Kyoko completely.
Kyoko takes out her spear and mutters. "Rest in peace Akemi..." In a sad and respectful tone. Before the seeming corpse began to wriggle and burst into the sky.
In the distance two figures are observing the entire fight. A male figure in black armor and a female figure in green armor. Taking great pains to remain undetected amidst all the chaos. The two take cover in an abandoned building and use cameras and binoculars to view the battle between Kyoko and Homura.
"So onee-sama when do we strike?" The figure in black armor asked.
"Not yet." The figure in green replied. "We need to wait until the Pandora's tower is finished. Then we strike."
"I don't like this." The figure in black commented. "I should be the one fighting the Calamity not them."
"Well they also have their own grudges. The figure in green stated. "Besides we need to remove as many of Mami Tomoe's allies as possible."
"There you go again with your zero-sum game scenarios. Is it really gonna be all doom and gloom when the new world comes about? I thought we were gonna create an utopia not another shitty world just like this one."
"It is a small stepping stone Kagemusha." The figure in green commented. "If we simply kill Madoka Kaname the universe will merely correct itself. If creating a Grandfather paradox were so simple any time traveler would have done it ages ago. That's why we need Project Elpis in the first place. To ensure that the paradox becomes reality itself."
"Just like the Arc..." Kagemusha sadly mused to himself. "If only Tetsuya didn't turn traitor..." The masked man in then given a bag of popcorn by his companion.
"Drink beer, eat rats." She comments as Kagemusha takes hold of the popcorn and begins stuffing his face. With Kagami following suit as the duo watch the fight between Homura and Kyoko rage on.
Chapter 6: The Arc rises
Second history 8932. It's been thousands of years since the discovery of magic as an energy source and the resulting magical girl war forced humanity to abandon earth and go into space. Earth has become little more than a historical footnote. And humanity has founded numerous colony worlds based of nations of old. In order to manage this new energy source that made the impossible possible. Alongside other alien races the Internal Fleet Systems or IFS was formed a military alliance designed to manage and protect its members from attacks from hostile powers and the abuse of magic.
The mahou driver system. Originally an attempt to replace body parts with virtual replicas composed of digital material. This digital material was meant to prevent rejection and serve as a way to rapidly standardize medical equipment. But its ability to enhance body and mind soon found a new purpose on the battlefield. Soon it became the great equalizer for soldiers and the alliance that would one day form the IFS would use this to bridge the gaps within its fighting force. Soon organics could fight on the same par as machines. And machines could perform organic tasks like eating and sleeping eliminating the need for maintenance and refueling. As super powered soldiers with artificial bodies became the norm on the battlefield on all sides. The magical girl war raged on for twenty years across the cosmos. Until the Pandoras tower put a swift end to it all.
Jun 19 s.h. 8932, GUN Fortress
A massive fortification surrounding one of the seven Pandora towers. The gray one as it is called to be precise. GUN fortress is a giant metal fort jutting out of the tower and the surrounding area. Clinging on like moss and sprawling for miles on end. Horizontally and vertically. Inside the main office in the top floor that overlooks the vastness of this fortress. Commander Abraham Tower of the Mobius IFS defense force is being briefed about the incident in Golden bay city. A tall, imposing man of advanced age with gray hair and heterochromia. A dark gray service dress with gold accents and an IFS emblem, black shoes and white gloves. The office itself is dark with numerous screens showing information about situations all over the world. With a table and chair at the center of it all. And two flags behind him.

"I can't believe that this is happening again." Commander mentioned to his subordinate over the video screen. "Maintain the prisoner secure at any cost. And make sure to keep this under wraps. I don't want the mainland finding out about this."
"Finding out about what Commander Tower?" A young woman's voice was suddenly heard over the intercom as the sight of a young blonde girl in drill twin tails overtook the Commander's many video screens in the office before focusing in a gigantic one behind him.
"Mami... Tomoe..." Commander Tower uttered unable to contain his fear at the situation.
"That's Grand General Tomoe to you Commander Tower. Just because I may look like a child. I still outrank you by age, experience, and sheer power. And in the IFS power is all that matters. Even a child can reach great standing amongst their peers if they are sufficiently capable."
Commander regained his composure and said. "Yes, my apologies Grand General..." Trying his best to hide his anger at her superior.
"Anyways it seems that you are having some problems with the Calamitous ones." Mami comments with a smile on her face.
"Nothing that we cannot handle." Commander Tower bluntly mentions.
"For your sake I hope your right." Mami chuckles as she cuts off communications. And things return to normal with a very confused subordinate.
"Jekyns! Get me Team Dark on the double! I need to deal with this matter at the root!" Commander orders as he bangs his fist at the table causing a cup of coffee to spill. "Drat! My Mocha!"
Skypatrol, Above the skies of Mobius
Sonic, Tails, and Madoka are once more going up the main lift. This time to the main bridge in order to meet the leader of the resistance and captain of the Skypatrol. The trio enter the bridge which is a large dome atop the giant winged bumper thing where several acorn guards were working on consoles serving as bridge bunnies alongside two prominent figures in a raised bridge at the center. An anim princess and an AI in the avatar form of a lynx.
"Whoa..." Madoka gasps as she looks at the bridge. "It's so big."
The AI a young looking lynx girl in a purple one piece dress with black hair saying. "Welcome to the bridge of the Acorn kingdom Skypatrol. I am Nicole AI supervisor of the ship and this is Sally Acorn, crown princess of the Acorn archipelago."
Princess Sally an anim ground squirrel with short red hair and a blue long jacket with coattails and long boots with ringed gloves greeted the trio as well. "Greetings. Sonic, Tails, Miss Kaname."

Madoka shyly steps backs saying. "Oh there's no need for formalities Sally-chan, Nicole-chan. It's just Madoka."
Sally smiles and states. "Then I hope the same can be said for us both." As she shakes the young girls hand vigorously. "Anyways, I called you here to inform you that we will be picking up Knuckles for a while."
Sonic asked. "Ol Knucklehead? What happened to him."
Sally answered with. "Bad things happened. Take a look." Nicole puts on screen picture's of the devastated Golden bay which horrify the trio. And a frozen Juggernaut which was the culprit of it all.
Tails asks. "Is THAT Eggman's?!" In a horrified tone.
Sonic then snarks. "If it is, then Eggman really has lost all sense of taste."
Nicole explains. "Negative Tails. It is a new kind of robot. Made by a group called the Calamitous ones. According to our info they invaded Angel island and forced Knuckles out of the place. Then sent that to kill him."
Madoka looks at the machine solemnly as if trying to remember something. And flashes back to a woman with a nanigata and besides her a giant squid that rises from the depths of the water. Before returning to reality with a slight headache and worried companions.
After making sure that the newbie was alright Sonic asked about Eggman. "So where is Baldy McNosehair in all of this? I can't imagine the doctor staying quiet. Especially since he sent Metal to collect that Hime girl."
"We're looking into it right now." Sally explains. "But it seems we've stumbled onto a roadblock." Sally shows video of what happened in Egg citadel. With the sight of Eggman's machines turning against their masters surprising Sonic and making him look at Tails funny.
"Don't look at me Sonic! It wasn't me this time!" Tails replies.
Nicole confirms it and states that Eggman is sending his forces to deal with the hacker. Not surprising anyone as Eggman is the type of person who would definitely answer to such a slight with overwhelming force.
"Anyways we will be heading to Amethyst bay to rendezvous with Knuckles." Sally commented. "So get ready and expect a battle."
"You think that seafood freak has friends, Sal?" Sonic remarks as Sally nods in confirmation.
Holy summit, Angel island
Meanwhile in the Master Emerald shrine. Kyubey is looking at pictures of the frozen Juggernaut and muttering. "She failed..."
Chuckles the buff echidna who is still serving as Kyubey's personal throne comments. "That was a woman?" Which gets him a slap in the ass for his troubles. "Gack!"
"Dire!" Kyubey yells to which a silver armored robot jumps down from the roof that is basically a cross between a Mandalorian and a wolf with a massive gun. Twice as big as she is and she is a good five feet tall. Which means the gun is ten feet long with a scissor like bayonet. With twin leather belts strapped on her waist.

"So it seems that Juggernaut has failed." Dire spoke out in a gruff voice akin to David Hayter even though she is also a girl. "But they shall be no match for me and my cardboard box!"
"Cardboard box?" Kyubey asks in utter disbelief.
While Dire continues his drivel with her continued enthusiasm. "Believe me Lord Kyubey, this cardboard box is imperative for the success of the operation!" As she summoned a simple cardboard box and ducks inside it. With her massive gun sticking out of the top of the cardboard. "Behold! My unmatched mastery of cardboard! And how it shall crush your enemies!" And after the boast Dire slowly shuffles off the shrine to a confused Kyubey and Chuckles. With the former only capable of responding by spanking Chuckles ass again.
"I'm surrounded by idiots..." The incubator complains as he adjusts himself causing Chuckles to struggle from the former's weight.
Amethyst bay city
The city next to Golden bay if you go north by boat. It is a smaller city known for its vast highway system and large thousand year old redwood forests and how they intersect creating large picturesque race courses in which competitions take place. Knuckles, Ahiru, and Fakir reached the city earlier via a small port and while Ahiru is amazed at seeing the sights of the city. Knuckles is annoyed at being in a place with many people. While Fakir is indifferent to the whole thing.
"You don't have to keep following me around." Knuckles comments to his unlikely bodyguards.
Something Ahiru shrugs off with a smile merely stating. "Don't worry! After all we're friends right?! So we won't let you deal with these freaks alone!"
"Duck has a point." Fakir added. "Take it from me. This isn't the kind of thing you can handle alone."
"You make it sound like you were some kind of morose loner before." Knuckles comments while looking at Ahiru and Fakir holding hands like a cute couple. Something that causes the duo to blush and look away from each other while still holding hands.
The trio were being observed by a familiar cardboard box with a large gun sticking out of its top walking around the crowd and trying not to bump into the oncoming crowd. Then a beeping sound came from the box and the scene switches to a CODEC style communication between Dire and Kyubey.
"What are you doing you fool?!" The frustrated incubator screams out at his minion.
"I am preparing for the stealth kill master." Dire responds in a straightforward manner.
"I don't want some stealth kill as you put it! Just use your gun and put a bullet in that red menace's head already! Is that so hard to do?!"
Suddenly Dire screams out. "Loliloliloliloo!" For no good reason leaving Kyubey in a state of confusion. "It's the memes master. The memes!"
"Yeah i've had enough of this cig smoking shit. Send in the minions!" Kyubey yells as he cuts off communications and a giant purple portal appears above the skies of Amethyst bay.
From the portal an army of Skullraisers drop from the skies and after landing on the city began rampaging and shooting up the town causing a panic. With Knuckles, Ahiru, and Fakir getting caught in the middle quickly enough and Dire getting caught up in the panicking masses fleeing for their safety. Being kicked around like a can for comedic value.
"Owowowowowowowowowow, stop it, owowowowowowowow..."
Knuckles began fighting the Skullraisers. Fortunately they were a lot easier to deal with than Juggernaut. And the local security force also joined in as reinforcements. Turning the rampage into a city wide brawl for control. Ahiru and Fakir were forced to hide as they lacked weapons. But still made themselves useful by using the environment to take out Raisers. Even coming to Knuckles aid by stealing a car and taking the guardian with him to the racing circuit with the raisers in hot pursuit.

As the trio race thru the circuit while being chased they come across a row of rainbow colored blocks where they obtain banana peel power ups. Much to Duck and Fakir's confusion. "What is going on?" Duck asks as she is left holding a banana peel in one hand. With Knuckles telling the girl to chuck it at the skeleton monsters. "Like this?" Ahiru tosses the banana causing one of the mooks to spin out of formation to the surprise of the Princess Tutu newcomers.
"I've done this before." Knuckles explains as he takes the wheel of the car. And actually managing to do an excellent job as he hits a boost ramp in a tight corner and gets some air and distance from the Raisers. While Ahiru and Fakir head to the back and manage the items.
"So cool..." Ahiru comments impressed at the situation at hand.
While some Skullraisers continue chasing on foot some decide to also steal cars, vans, and trucks and chase after Knuckles. With the Skypatrol flying overhead the city witnessing the chaos. And the ship gets attacked by the purple portal as a pyramid craft drops from it and fights the Resistance. Forcing Sonic and Tails to fly off and chase Knuckles in the Tornado 2. An upgraded blue biplane with twin thrusters created after the destruction of the original plane. The whole scenario turns into a race as the Raisers and Tornado chase Knuckles across the circuit jockeying for position and attacking each other when given the chance.
As Ahiru prepares to take aim with a rocket launcher power up the trio gained from going inside a tunnel. Ahiru fires it blowing up the pursuing van and causing it to collide with the car with both getting demolished by the truck as they leave the tunnel and the Tornado catching up shooting up the truck whose Raiser occupants fires back at the Tornado. Getting caught off guard when the duck girl fires a second rocket into the truck's grill, blowing up the engine and causing the vehicle to flip over and crash.
"Not bad kid!" Knuckles glowingly praises Ahiru. While Fakir is amazed at her sudden ruthlessness. "All right now you can put the rocket launcher down." Knuckles explain but to no avail as Ahiru is now aiming at the Tornado believing it is another enemy forcing Fakir to restrain her.
The Tornado and car landed and parked respectively in a nearby road where both groups reunited. With a brief respite from the battle obtained Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are reunited.
"Hey Knuckles long time no see!" Sonic remarks to the other trio. "So who are the other two?"
"Ahiru and Fakir." Knuckles said. "These are Sonic and Tails."
"Not exactly the way we wanted to deliver the package." Fakir noted. As he looked around the destruction of the city.
"Yes but these monsters are rather persistent." Tails comments. "Could give Eggman a run for his money. Anyways you two should get to safety."
"Right!" Ahiru remarks but Fakir is hesitant to leave. "What's wrong?"
"It's just..." Fakir mutters.
"We can't really do much right now." Ahiru comments. "I'm a white mage and you're an author."
"Used to be a knight." Fakir mumbles as the duo get on the car and drive off to safety. With the duck girl waving good bye to the trio from the car window. While Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles board the Tornado and prepare to fly back to the Skypatrol.
In the air meanwhile the Skypatrol was still fighting off the Calamitous one pyramid ship. As the giant pyramid was outgunning the Skypatrol but having trouble getting thru it's superior armor and shielding system. Leaving the two at a stalemate. Amy and Cream were helping Nicole maintain the engine. A giant crystal generator in the center that provides power to the ship inside of a giant sealed off room.
"Can't this ship do something?" Amy complains to Nicole as she watches over one of the side screens managing the fluctuating power levels.
"I apologize. Even though this ship is a Regalia it doesn't have the firepower to match the enemy pyramid. The best we can do is this." Nicole explained about the Skypatrol itself.
The Regalia class were relics of the magical girl war. A series of four ships known as the four heavenly emperors and the God slaying swords. By some stroke of luck the Skypatrol was found near the Green Pandora tower in the Acorn Archipelago and repurposed by the kingdom into its current form.
To make it worse another enemy has come down from the purple portal. A giant humanoid scrawny looking like a beanpole of a man purple and black enemy robot based off a motorcycle with small handlebars on its head, a wheel on its chest, and engine blocks for arm guards and bracers. That takes a look at the Skypatrol with its glowing yellow eyes. And revving up its chest wheel fires electricity at the Skypatrol causing damage to the ship. Creating explosions in the hull and forcing it to lose altitude.
"What's going on?" Amy yells as she is forced out of her console by the electric shocks. While Cream and Cheese rush to her help.
"Is everyone all right?" Nicole asks as she tries to communicate with everyone else only to find static and interference. "That blasts must have overloaded the systems. They're planning to fry us to death."
As theorized the motorcycle robot continued firing surges of electricity at the Skypatrol until it got stopped by a missile exploding in its face. Said missile coming from the Tornado 2 speed in towards the giant robot in a regular David versus Goliath fight in the air. The motorcycle robot notices the Tornado and fires its electric surge at the Tornado but its size and Tails piloting skills manage to avoid the surges with ease as the plane close in just enough for Sonic and Knuckles to jump in and smack the titan in the face with a homing attack and uppercut respectively. As the powerful blows cause the robot to stagger and lose balance. Sonic and Knuckles begin glowing green much to their surprise.
"Again?" Sonic remarks.
"What do you mean?" Knuckles asks as the two are picked up by the Tornado and notice that Tails is glowing as well. "Wait Tails is glowing too?"
"What do you mean Knuckles?" Tails asks in confusion. "And why are you two glowing?"
Inside the Skypatrol. Madoka was in her room which she was sharing with Amy and Cream for the time being worried about the battle going outside. While the bunks were reinforced which meant that the inexperienced rookie would be protected from the worst of the fighting unlike everyone else. Madoka could still hear the explosions and shaking and was worried about everything that was going on. Scared and worried she could only pray at the situation when the bracelet stuck to her wrist began glowing as well. As the pink haired girl noticed she instinctively touched the screen as a pillar of light sprung out of it and three circles united into one with a voice coming out of the bracelet.

"Memorize! The time has come! Body! Mind! Heart! Arc!"
Madoka lifts up her bracelet and an even more powerful beam of light pours out of it. Seemingly in a trance while doing so as if another persona was in control of her actions. The beam shot up the Skypatrol and went into the heavens before bending and hitting the Tornado 2 where it exposed the glowing Team Sonic to its power. The motorcycle robot fired of all its engine guns 24 cannons in total at the Tornado. Shooting it down but the energy field protected Team Sonic as they propelled themselves as orbs of light that grew and grew while hitting the giant robot over and over before combining into one giant robotic being with Sonic on top, Tails in the middle, and Knuckles at the bottom becoming a 24 meter tall Getter Robo like combiner based on Sonic's appearance with body armor and more human proportions. A gigantic blue titan with long spikes and ears, rounded body armor, and thrusters in the back. With a massive explosion The Arc was completed and Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles woke up to find themselves joining consciousness inside the body of a giant robot.

"What the FUCK?!" Was Sonic's first reaction to the whole situation.
Tails meanwhile lifts the Arc's arms and remarks. "It seems all three of us have fused into a single consciousness. And can control this giant robot together."
"I don't know what's scarier." Knuckles remarks. "That i'm stuck in this can with you two. Or that I actually understood one of Tails nerd rants."
"Eeeh?!" Sonic and Tails both react in shock at the latter revelation. Completely caught by surprise at hearing that.
"Now i'm having some serious questions." Tails remarks as the Arc is one again pelted by numerous bolts of plasma. Only for the attack to have no effect. And the pyramid to flank the two combatants and fire a massive energy blast as well capable of wiping out a mountain only for the Arc to no sell it. By merely standing there as the being simply bounces off into the ocean and explodes harmlessly.
Meanwhile in the Skypatrol everyone is shocked at the current turn of events.
"What happened to Sonic?" Amy asks to Sally now that the communications have been restored.
While Sally just as clueless can only watch in awe as Sonic Arc pummels its enemies as they try anything and everything to stop him. "I don't know Amy. This doesn't make sense."
Nicole comments. "It can't be. The I/FF is identifying the fusion as an Arc driver. If that's true then we are witnessing a literal miracle. Something that couldn't even be achieved during the magical girl war."
"What do you mean Nicole?" Sally asked her friend and confidant.
"It's exactly as I said. The Arc was a hypothetical evolution of the Mahou driver system. It combined three users, a body, mind, and heart. To create a superior being capable of greater feats than all three individually. But such a feat was never achieved, until now.
Back in the battle Sonic Arc was still dominating the motorcycle robot and pyramid. As the combined power squared of Team Sonic was simply too much for the Calamitous ones. Sonic Arc was built for speed and for him this battle was like everything was in slow motion. Even Tails and Knuckles were blown away at it all. With Tails mind processing like a super computer and Knuckles strength making every speedy blow hit like a literal meteor even when holding back. With one roundhouse kick Sonic Arc kicked the motorcycle robot into the pyramid damaging it so badly that it was pretty much useless and prepared for the finishing blow.
"Sonic tomahawk!" Sonic yelled as two tomahawks sprang out from his hands. And as they charged up with lightning. Sonic rushes at the pyramid which fires another massive beam destroying the motorcycle robot in the process. Overloading it and causing it and the pyramid to take structural damage. But to no avail as Sonic Arc catches the beam with its tomahawks and launches it back at the pyramid enemy before striking it down with his attack cutting the giant structure into pieces and causing it to explode. This caused a full retreat for the Calamitous ones with the surviving forces retreating to the portal before it closed off stranding whomever was unlucky enough to get left behind.
"So, how do we change back?" Sonic asks as the trio fly in the sky looking at a job well done. Before separating into three lights that shrink and land in the ground below. Becoming the familiar figures of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. "Well I guess that answer my question."
Tails remarks. "Yeah it looks like we're back to normal again."
"Which means that its back to being stupid for Knuckles." Sonic jokes.
"Shut up! My head hurts!" Knuckles comments as he looks for a place to lie down.
"Oh crap!" Tails suddenly remembered the Tornado 2 and ran off to find it.
Bridge of the Skypatrol
All of the Resistance except Madoka who was in the bathroom was in the Skypatrol's bridge. Some hours had already passed since the end of the battle and the Tornado had been recovered. The Skypatrol is heading to the open sea in order to reach the Acorn archipelago halfway across the world.
"Good job everyone." Princess Sally bluntly stated as she collapsed in the captains chair in the bridge giving out a large sigh of relief. "Still these Calamitous ones are going to be trouble. We can't just go around with a skeleton crew anymore."
"Honestly I would rather be reclaiming Angel island." Knuckles complains.
"We know that already you big baby! But there's an army of monsters holed up in there remember?" Amy yelled at the guardian. Bitterly reminding him of the situation.
"Amy is right Knuckles." Nicole added. "If we are to reclaim Angel island we will need help. That's why were heading back to Green Hill."
"Getting Antoine and Bunnie will be easy. But Shortfuse is on a mission and Gadget is off somewhere. Silver is off training too if I recall." Tails mentions.
"So where's Madoka? We kinda need to get to the bottom of this whole Getter Hedgehog thing." Sonic comments.
Amy then swipes at Sonic stating. "Don't be rude! The young lady is in the restroom. This whole war thing is new to her after all."
"Ah; Good point." Sonic remarks. "Maybe we should give the rookie some time off. It's not like she is going to be instrumental to all of this."
Meanwhile in the girls restroom. Madoka is finishing up her business. When a familiar gruff voice speaks to her from another stall.
"Hey got any toilet paper?" The husky voice asked the young girl.
"Oh sure! Miss?" Madoka answered as she looked around for extra toilet paper in her stall.
"It's Dire." The voice from the other stall replied. "Just stowed away into the ship right now. Gonna sabotage it and kill all the crew."
"That's a nice name." Madoka replied. "Still I don't think that sabotaging the ship and killing everyone is a good thing thought. Oh i've found some toilet paper. I'll pass it down right away."
Then a robotic arm violently bursts out from the left side of Madoka's bathroom stall grabs her throat and chokes her until she falls unconscious. Madoka struggles but the mechanical arm is too powerful and nearly strangles the poor child to death.
When Madoka faints she loses grip on the toilet paper and it rolls into the opposite stall as well causing her to remark. "Thanks for the toiler paper... And the hostage..." As Dire is revealed by entering the stall to kidnap her. Grabbing the unconscious girl like a sack of potatoes and walking off the bathroom.

The Black arms also exist and they replace the Drakkon empire and the Xorda as invading aliens with connections to Mobius past in this continuity. With their story being developed later on.
Sally and the Resistance in general are heavily inspired by Megaman Zero's Resistance. Even thought they were taken primarily from the Archie comics. With Sally basically wearing a blue version of Prairie's from ZX uniform conceptually.
