Majo Kon-ki The Marriage of Tanya the Witch
(The marriage chronicles of a witch)
Arc 3 - Prisoner of Azkaban – part 6
January, AD1994, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
"HARRY!" Ron entered the hospital wing screaming. He ran there as soon as he heard about his friend getting hurt again.
"What happened?! Why are you-" He shut his mouth seeing Harry and Hermione talking with the headmaster.
"… you won't change your mind, no matter what I say?"
"Sorry professor. There is no way I am going back to the Dursleys. I also don't want to leave Tanya's side." Whatever it was, Harry was resolute in his decision.
"My boy, sometimes-"
"Professor, I believe Harry made his decision!"
Did Ron hear it right? Hermione was rude to Dumbledore?!
"Very well. I shall have a word with the Weasleys. See if they allow a few extra defenses for their home." With no room to argue, the headmaster got up and left. By his worn off expression, he seemed the definition of tired.
From what Ron could get, this was a discussion about his father's proposal to take both Harry and Tanya in.
"I am a little worried, he said your life is in constant danger! And this part didn't sound like a lie."
"Either way, I can't depend on my mother's spell forever!"
"Can someone explain what is going on?" Highly enthusiastic, Hermione indulged him.
"TANYA DID WHAT?!"
"I knew she was dying to rip someone apart just by the mad look on her face but her own boyfriend?!"
"Yeah! Isn't this the most romantic thing you've ever heard?"
Ron blinked.
"Didn't you say a second ago that she ripped off his arm?! And Harry almost DIED of blood loss?!"
"She did it to help Harry overcome his guilty conscience! Besides, Tanya used a regular severing charm. Contrary to what would have happened with a dark spell, his arm could be easily reattached."
Ron considered pointing out that he must've felt agonizing pain.
"Err, Harry, mate, what do you think of this?"
"I am so happy to have a wonderful girlfriend!"
"Could ripping arms be the new snog?!" Pondered Ron.
"… there you are, my young lady. Sorry I took so long, but Mr Potter had priority."
Madam Pomfrey's comment made Ron realize Tanya' presence on the other side of the room.
"I am fine. In my case, it was only a scratch."
"Please! I recommend for you to abstain from doing such dangerous spell casting during your extra curricular activities. Mr Potter had to ingest my whole stack of blood-replenishing potions!"
After this interaction between the nut girl and the matron, Tanya came over to check on her boyfriend. All the while murmuring a song?!
She seemed to be in a great mood. As if that class with the boggart never happened in the first place.
"How are you doing Harry?"
"Great! If you wish, we can go back to training right now!"
"HE WANTS MORE?! Can't he see how lucky he is to be alive? Next time it could be his head falling off!"
Ronald Weasley made a vow today: he would never fall in the snogging trap and end in the clutches of a woman!
"Who knows? I could end up in love with someone like Tanya Degurechaff! Brrrr!"
"There is no more need to train so hard. From now on, just do some daily exercises to keep in shape. Oh! By the way, you can have this back, Hermione."
Tanya handed Hermione back what Ron believed to be a time-turner.
"And where is professor Dumbledore? I didn't think he was going to leave before giving me a harsh detention."
"Oh no. He said no actions will be held against you. He also meant to tell you how deeply sorry he was."
"THE BLOODY HELL? She almost kills Harry and Dumbledore apologies? The bloke himself is happy and Hermione is proud of her psycho friend! What is this? An epidemic of craziness?!"
"He tried to talk me out of moving to the Weasleys. I reckon this was the reason he was looking for me today."
Madam Pomfrey demanded for Harry to stay the night but he stubbornly left about an hour later.
Back to their common room and without anything else to do, Harry and Tanya FINALLY opened their christmas presents.
Then IT happened! Harry got the best present ever: A FIREBOLT!
This was something worth waiting to see! What a happy turn of events! Everything was ultimately-
"… I am afraid I will have to confiscate it."
Ron's entire world came crashing down. McGonagall confiscated the broom after what? An hour?
All because of that know-it-all two-timing Hermione! She told professor McGonagall they don't know who sent it. Now it was anyone's guess what she will do to the poor broom looking for hexes and jinxes!
"Can't you see this is an obvious trap set by Sirius Black?! Don't you agree, Tanya?" Hermione was full of confidence that her friend would stick with her.
"My senses alerted me of no danger. The mana contained in the broom was the same as in any other. I am afraid you acted behind our backs for nothing." This time, Ron fully supported Tanya. Even with all her sarcasm.
"W-what if it was something you couldn't feel?" Hermione held her ground despite sounding startled.
"Harry would've put his training to good practice. There is no way he will be caught off guard like in his first year with Quirrell. He may not be very good at flying by himself, but in an emergency he could self-levitate a bit."
One would think that the broom was actually Ron's, looking as Tanya's wise words fueled his fury. His grudge would remain strong for the rest of the month, until a certain evening…
"Weasley, Have you seen Potter? I want to return his broom-"
"YOU ARE GIVING IT BACK?!" Ron yelled, noticing the Firebolt in professor McGonagall's hands in a pristine condition!
It felt like christmas again! A sentiment shared by almost the entire house as everyone wanted to see the broom up close.
"Hehehe! And I am the first to have a go at it after Harry!" Ron allowed himself to look forward to this.
After the crowd dispersed, he offered himself to take the firebolt to their room only to gaze at it for more time. If someone saw this scene, they would think that Harry's bed was an altar for him to pray to the broom. In truth, he was so glad now that he may even forgive Hermione's transgression.
"Ops! Almost forgot Scaber's tonic."
Ron turned to his own bed, the place where he left his pet in safety-
"AHH!" Ron was agape. His rat was nowhere to be found. Instead there was blood on his bed around ginger cat hairs!
"Ugh! To think I was all smug saying there is no magic I can't learn!" Tanya's borderline insane good mood didn't last long. The difficulties of day-to-day affairs caught up to her in the form of a quite complicated spell.
She knew after her initial research that the patronus charm would be hard to learn. Books simply weren't very clear about what is considered a 'positive and happy emotion'.
"They don't call it a highly advanced magic for nothing."
Tanya tried all her best memories, like when she finished college and was offered a job at a prestigious company. Yet, nothing happened.
On the other hand, Harry under professor Lupin's guidance was able to cast what they call an incorporeal version in his first try. And when the teacher asked what his thoughts were, he said blushing that he recalled the day he started to date Tanya.
Despite the embarrassment, this gave Tanya a clue. The emotion had to be of the intimate kind, basically memories of loved ones.
For a moment Tanya considered using her memories of Visha but…
'It's okay!'
… this would solely evoke feelings of sadness and guilt over the poor girl's death!
Tanya was considering giving up on this particular magic. It seemed like true happiness was something too hard for such a rational (and also cynical) person.
"Well,I can use Harry should I ever need to ward dementors off." However, Tanya was depending too much on him!
"If there was a way to produce happiness even if temporarily!" Maybe a spell could fake out this emotion?
"Hummm, perhaps the cheering charm-"
"Sob! Scabbers!"
The little girl lost track of her thoughts by Ron's whining. He was utterly miserable after his pet rat became a meal for Hermione's cat. And as much as his brothers and sister were trying to console him, nothing could abate his grief.
"I am telling you, Crookshanks is innocent!" At the other side of the room, Hermione stubbornly tried to defend her cat.
"Tanya, can you help me with this?" While Harry bugged her to 'magically' solve this mess!
"So much noise over a rat who was about to dye anyway!"
"Listen Ron. I am sorry to inform you that rats don't live more than three years. With his declining health, if Hermione's cat hadn't done this, he would have died of old age soon enough."
This made Ron stare at her in puzzlement.
"Huh? Three years? Scabbers have been in the family for over a decade. He was Bill's and Percy's before."
"Eh?" Now Tanya was the one puzzled.
"Scabbers was some sort of magic rat?!" Harry asked, confused too.
"I never heard of one." Hermione answered.
Tanya rolled her eyes. The explanation was quite obvious.
Scabbers was probably the Weasley family 'gold fish'. In other words, the original Scabbers passed away many years ago. Mr and Mrs Weasley were replacing the rats as they died, probably to not hurt their children.
"Ron's must have been the fourth Scabber at least. But why didn't they replace him again? They must've realized his time was almost up. Unless they thought it was time for their children to learn how to handle death?"
Tanya considered explaining her deduction; however, she would be living with the Weasley for a while. Ron and Ginny had been very upset with her 'plague control' last year, she wasn't going to destroy their silly dreams by exposing their parent's fable.
"Besides, Ron and Hermione fight all the time and still are friends. Tomorrow they will go back to their usual bickering as if this never happened in the first place."
Their distance from each other during the Gryffindor match against Ravenclaw would prove her wrong. Perhaps their break up was going to be definitive this time.
Not that Tanya cared any way, as for the first time ever, a quidditch game turned out to be very entertaining for her. For starters, because nothing bad happened to Harry and second, Tanya could see the boy's full growth up close.
His movements made him more akin to one of her aerial mages than a quidditch player. Needless to say the game ended in an outright victory for Gryffindor, with Harry catching the Snitch just minutes into the game.
People would believe this was the power of the new expensive broom, but Tanya knew better. Harry won the same way she did in her own match. By making full usage of the mana sensing ability.
And it served him again after the game. Harry perceived almost instantly the appearing dementors were fakers. He easily disabled their brooms with three consecutive cutting spells, making them crash.
Later the same night, a big party was held only ending when professor McGonagall interfered. Still, Harry and Tanya remained as she had to give feedback on the skills he displayed.
"You improved your control, your sensing is almost as good as mine. Congratulations!"
"Thank you!" Harry blushed hearing her compliment him.
"Malfoy couldn't use your fear against you. Instead, you calmly analyzed the situation and handled it masterfully. I am impressed."
It was the truth. Tanya was impressed and also proud of him. If he kept this pace, maybe a small trip to Albania was worth considering. Furthermore, she noticed something fairly interesting during the match. Harry seemed infatuated with the pretty Ravenclaws' seeker.
Tanya had already decided to use Harry's feelings for her to keep him under control, however that might not be necessary anymore as he was well 'tamed'.
"I would certainly sleep better at night without a boy lusting after me! Let's try to see what happens!"
"You know, I saw the way you were looking at the other seeker."
"I kept my eyes on her and followed the snitch with my mind. Bah! I kinda feel like a cheater!"
"N-no! What I mean to say is, she is a pretty girl, isn't she?"
"Huh? I guess."
"Harry, you understand that if you want a new girlfriend, we can always go back to being friends, right?"
"What?!"
"You should have a proper girlfriend, one who wasn't so dirty-"
"YOU ARE NOT DIRTY!" Harry shouted and strongly embraced her.
"Don't ever say something like this!"
Tanya could see her mistake now, she precipitated herself. She forgot Harry wasn't so vain to trade girlfriends over a more physically mature and prettier girl.
In all her former effort to turn herself into his sister, she forged a bond which, for good or bad, won't be easily broken.
"It was worth trying. Maybe next time."
"Why would you ever think this? If it is about Diggory, I already apologized. Unless-" Harry pulled her off his embrace and stared seriously at her.
"Could it be- you think I don't want to do 'stuff' with you?"
"Eh?"
"I didn't try anything because I thought it could scare you! B-but if it is alright with you…" Harry gave her a familiar blushing face she didn't miss in all those months.
"I am the stupidest person alive!" Tanya realized too late how instead of throwing Harry to another girl, she just canceled the best excuse she had to keep their relationship stalled!
Harry slowly approached her, while she took a step back. This kept going until she bumped into someone.
What happened next caught both children off guard. They didn't see the portrait hole open or someone enter the common room until Tanya was grabbed.
"Ah! What are you-"
"Please! Don't move."
Tanya saw Harry go pale.
"Sirius Black!"
"Huh?" Tanya looked to the person holding her, and there he was, Sirius Black, exactly as he was shown in the wanted posters.
"Harry… Potter…?" He grunted, noticing Harry's presence.
There was a stunned silence. Harry seemed horrified. It took her a moment to understand that he was worried about her.
Tanya however, was confused. Her instincts didn't warn her of any danger, not for her and neither for Harry. It was like this man was harmless, even armed with a knife. There was not a single clue of a dangerous killer.
"I beg you! Don't hurt her! I-if you let her go you can have me!" Harry was almost in tears. This was probably his worst nightmare coming true. Again, someone he loved was in Sirius Black's hands.
"…" Black didn't say anything. He released Tanya, turned around and left.
Once more, there was a stunned silence.
"… was that really Sirius Black?"
Harry nodded his head.
"Then, WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR?! HURRY UP! LET'S CATCH HIM!"
Tanya and Harry rushed to the corridors. But the escaped criminal was nowhere to be seen. And with the amount of time they unintentionally had given him, he could be anywhere in the castle now!
"Damn! Did he escape?!"
"I have an idea." Harry took out a piece of parchment.
"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good." By his words the parchment changed into a map, names started to appear on it.
"Here he is!" Looking at where Harry pointed, she saw the name 'Sirius Black' moving somewhere on the first floor.
"What is this- Not now! Let's go after him!"
"Right- huh?"
"What?"
"Black's name! It disappeared!"
"Aff! It looks like Harry and Hermione together was a mere wishful thinking on my part." Tanya came to this conclusion recalling the emotional moment when the girl made up with Ron.
This was one of the many consequences of Black's little visit. The scare of hearing how their friends 'almost died', made them realize how deeply they cared about each other.
"Makes sense! Hermione acts kind of illogical usually when Ron is in the picture."
And in the matter of the illogical, Sirius Black actions made no sense! Why didn't he try anything? His target was in front of him, he could've killed him on the spot! He supposedly had Tanya as a hostage, Harry even offered himself!
"I didn't feel any hostility towards us. It felt like he was after someone else and was caught by surprise with our presence."
Unfortunately, Tanya had no time to contemplate about this as a new problem surfaced.
"I can't!" Harry said, lowering his wand after the umpteenth failure.
"How weird. You were managing so well." They were forced to seek more aid from professor Lupin as Harry was unable to cast a patronus again.
"Sorry Harry, but it looks to me that you aren't even trying." From what Tanya could perceive, it wasn't a matter of skill, it seemed he had lost his confidence.
He shyly glanced at his girlfriend.
"I am scared, Okay! After all my training, all my hard work, Black took you hostage in front of ME!"
"Ugh! Thought as much!" Tanya sighed.
"Y-you are not leaving me because I didn't save you, RIGHT?!"
"Of course not! I already told you I am not running away!"
Despite Tanya's reassurance, Harry was now staring at her with eyes full of suspicion.
"Are you speaking the truth? Sometimes you lie without a second thought!"
"Eh?! When have I ever lied to you?"
"Plenty of times actually, but he shouldn't know!"
"Oh! When, indeed, PRINCESS Tanya!"
"Don't bring this up again! This story is a delusion created by Malfoy's father!"
Harry grunted and pulled the same piece of parchment he used to try to track Sirius Black.
"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good."
"What the- Where did you get this?" Professor Lupin seemed astonished, yet Harry paid him no mind.
Like last time, the blank paper turned into a map with moving names.
"If you are not a princess, explain this!" Harry pointed to her own name.
"This is my name. So what?"
"Hermione told me how nobles in old German were distinguished by a surname."
"Yeah, yeah. 'Von', so what- AH?!" Tanya saw what he meant, her name on the map wasn't Tanya Degurechaff, it was Tanya VON Degurechaff.
"How?!"
"Shit! It's probably that fake god!"
"Err, Harry, this thing must be- Faulty! That's it! Remember how you couldn't track Sirius Black before?"
"No, it's not faulty. This map never lies." Professor Lupin's voice was full of conviction.
"I can tell because I was one of its makers."
Thus, the professor told the story about the marauder's map creation.
"Wow! This map must use the principle of mana detection- hold on! There is another way to violate our privacy in this damn school?!"
"Does this mean Sirius Black can fool the map because he was the one who created it?"
"No. Me, your father or Peter couldn't do it. One day, Sirius appeared out of nowhere when we were looking at the map. He said this particular trick he would never disclose to us, and he never did."
"In other words, we can't use this map to track him."
"But he could use it to track Harry. This is why I am confiscating it!"
"The title of 'von' was a reward for graduating as one of the twelve knights. I should have it for ONE generation, not two lives!" Tanya couldn't explain this to Harry. Meaning she will have to swallow her pride and accept how in everyone's eyes, she is princess Tanya 'von' Degurechaff!
At least, she managed to convince professor Lupin to let her have the map, with the promise she wouldn't let it out of her view like Neville did with his password list.
"As if I would give up the enormous tactical advantage this thing has to offer. I only wish it could track the hallows too."
Away from prying eyes, she was making a small experiment.
"Ha! I knew it!" Seeing her name vanish for a moment proved her theory right. This map used the notion of mana detection. To deceive it, one has to wittingly reduce the flow of natural mana to a minimum.
"Amazing! It's the first time I hear of something of this sort in this world!" She understands Sirius must be very skillful if he can accomplish such a feat without knowing about the conception of mana.
"He must have a formidable control over his mana, like me!" Tanya took a deep breath realizing how bad-
"Ah!" No! There was an even worse consideration!
"Don't tell me he has the Elder wand!" Then she would need to find him fast! With so many people looking for him, he could be killed and transfer the possession of the wand to an unknowing owner.
"It could end lost for a lifetime!" So much was her despair she didn't see Fred and George Weasley approaching.
""Hey, your highness!"" When they called her, she considered pocketing the map.
"You don't need to hide it from us."
"Who do you reckon gave it to Harry?"
"Should've known! You two need something from me?"
"We wanted to ask how Ron is doing lately, with Scabbers' death and all…"
"… and he was at odds with Hermione."
"Don't worry, they are back on good terms. VERY good terms!" The subtle remark in Tanya's tone was not lost on the brothers.
"Eh? Hermione fancies our little brother?!"
"Oh! Bollocks!"
Their reaction wasn't one she was expecting.
"Why the shocked faces? You don't like Hermione?"
"No! I-it's just-"
"The poor girl will be devastated once she hears the truth!"
"The truth?"
They went silent. Gone from their faces was the constant cheerful humor they always emanated.
"Come on! You two have been weird with him the entire year! It's like Ron is made of glass and you are afraid he's going to shatter with the slightest breeze!"
"W-we are afraid of what people will think once…"
"… they discover his secret."
"What secret?"
"That our little brother would never answer Hermione's feelings…"
"… because he likes BOYS!"
Tanya blinked.
"Did I hear right? Ron is homosexual?!" This couldn't be true. Tanya had researched about homosexuality before and Ron didn't fit the psychological profile.
Her thoughtful look sent the twin-brothers in a fit of panic.
"P-please! Don't stop being his friend!"
"Yeah! He is the same Ronniekins we adore and love so much!"
"You misunderstood me. I have nothing against a person's sexual orientation-"
"Merlin's beard! I am so relieved!"
"Me too! For a moment, I thought we had crushed our little brother's peaceful school days!"
By the way they were overreacting, Tanya guessed they had this fear mulling over in their minds for quite a time.
"Just wait a moment! Why do you think that Ron is, err, gay?"
They asked for the map and after searching a little, showed her a name.
"Look at our brother Percy here."
On the map, Percy Weasley's name blinked out and in its place popped up the name 'Penelope Clearwater'.
"Hum?"
"Do you see where they are? A broom closet."
"They are snogging."
In another example, they hugged each other, and as such, the map showed alternately the names Fred Weasley and George Weasley.
"The map shows the names alternatively when people are too close be it hugging, kissing or during sexual intercourse."
""You got it right!""
"Ah!" A realization struck her.
"You two caught Ron while he was-"
"W-we don't know for sure!"
"It happened last year. You had disappeared and Ginny was still very upset with her ordeal."
"We were looking at her to make sure she wasn't waking in the castle at night…"
"… under you-know-who influence anymore."
""But then…""
"We took a peek at Ron…"
"… and he was in his room late at night…"
""… with someone named Peter!""
"Ron was in bed with another boy?!"
"And it wasn't just that night…"
"… the names kept appearing together every night!"
Tanya took this news with disbelief. Besides his outmatching psychological profile, Harry would have to be aware and yet, he never mentioned anything.
"Did you two talk with Ron? To ask if he really has a boyfriend?"
"We reckon Ron must be scared…"
"… he gets that people won't be nice."
"There was this time when two blokes were caught snogging."
"Teachers treated them fair but the rumors were awful!"
"Fellow students felt it was alright to be perverse and the pranks were the nastiest!"
"We are afraid Ron will suffer like those two!"
"Well, it's the nineties. A time when prejudice was the norm." Tanya was having doubts with this story, however, it offered an answer to Scabbers' case.
"Does your parents know?"
""We don't think so.""
"Could this be the reason they kept hiding the final destiny of all the former Scabbers? Like you, they were afraid of hurting their troubled child?"
""Former Scabbers?""
Tanya explained her 'goldfish' theory.
"This is not possible."
"Yeah. Scabbers was only one rat."
"Come on! It wouldn't be that hard to find a replacement!"
"Definitely no. Mum can be vicious with some of our punishments but she would never chop out a rat's toe."
"Eh?"
"Scabbers had one of his thumbs missing. If someone replaced him, they would also need to rip out one toe."
With Easter over, it was almost time for the final quidditch match of the season. Tanya decided to 'seal' away Harry's detection skill during games, fearing he could draw too much attention with such an unfair advantage (not that she was one to talk).
By their last attempt, it was obvious the Slytherins feared Harry's increased ability. One day, Draco Malfoy asked Tanya if he would get in trouble with her should any 'accident' happen with her boyfriend.
She, of course, gave him a free pass. It would be interesting to see anyone trying to beat Harry down as he is.
"Anything sent his way will only make him stronger!"
And yet, here was the boy all tense for no reason.
"After our training, there is virtually not a single student capable of defeating you! But if you play so nervously like that, you may end up injuring yourself!"
"Then, how about you take my mind out of the game?"
"How can I-" Tanya huffed. Feeling the touch of her hand, he immediately relaxed with a warm smile.
"As long as this is all he asks!"
Her last blunder had been heavy on her mind. Fortunately, Harry forgot about 'advancing their relationship' after the Sirius Black scare and all the tension over the game.
"Tanya, I am going to win tomorrow, right?"
"Yeah, yeah. Of course you will."
"Who cares? It's just a silly game!"
"And I am strong enough to protect you now?"
"I really hope so."
"Because otherwise this year would turn out to be my greatest failure yet!"
"I promise to always protect you! And I decided, after graduation, I am going to become an auror so I can-"
Tanya wasn't paying attention anymore. Her mind was elsewhere, still trying to figure out Sirius Black actions, or actually, his lack of action.
"Was I mistaken? No, his touch definitely had no malice, no ill feeling." She wondered if he wasn't actually innocent. Maybe someone else killed all those people and Pettigrew?
"There is the explanation that he could be too scared to let out any killing intent." But this would mean he was aware Tanya was a capable fighter. If this was the case, then maybe professor Snape had been right, they had a 'rat' in the castle helping him.
"Thinking of rats, how was it possible for an ordinary rodent to live so long? Was this the result of an unknown spell? Maybe he was a guinea pig before being adopted by Ron's older brother." And in the matter of Ron's brothers, they revealed their reasons for being overly affectionate.
"By giving me another mystery! Grrr! They won't so much as let me ask Ron!" The most strange part of this story is how his dorm-mates didn't seem to know and if they know, they don't care. As the twins reminded her, this was a time when homosexuality was treated too badly. It's impossible for all the boys around him to be so nice. At least one would've bullied him.
"And the only Peter we have in this school is a Slytherin two years our senior. Ron sees that dorm as the enemy, he wouldn't dare approach one, even less get intimate! Gah! This is maddening me!"
Tanya was a person who hated mysteries. Mostly because, the same as with any human being, her curiosity would keep her from disregarding it until the whole truth was disclosed.
"I feel like I have no control over my own head! Ugh! I also have no idea who gave Harry that very expensive broom-"
"… Tanya? Are you listening to me?"
"Eh? Oh, yes!"
"S-so? Y-your answer?"
"What did he ask while I zoned out?"
"Will you come to me after the game to congratulate me?"
"Oh! That's all?"
"Of course. I am your girlfriend after all!" She gave him her best 'girly' smile.
Harry blushed furiously.
"T-t-thank you! I-I thought you might not want, being so shy."
"Why is he so agitated?"
"TEAM! BED!" She lost the chance to ask after Wood's yell.
"I am going to bed. I am anxious for tomorrow, e-especially after the game!" He turned from her and quickly ran to his room leaving a seriously uneasy Tanya behind.
"Something is wrong, WHAT DID I PROMISE?!"
Like always, a giggling Hermione was eager to retell what she heard.
"Oh Tanya! Now I know for sure Gryffindor will win tomorrow!"
"W-why?" Tanya was dreading the answer.
"Because he will be very determined to have his first KISS, of course!"
Now, Tanya could place the last pieces together.
'Tanya, if we win tomorrow, can I- well! Can you give me a congratulation k-kiss?'
Which she replied:
'Of course. I am your girlfriend after all!'
"Sometimes I think that I am my own worst enemy!"
She just added another preoccupation to her already loaded mind and a few hours to find a way out of it!
"Gah! I am so stupid! We had the perfect relationship until I screwed up phenomenally! And now the insolent pawn is making passes at me again!" Lamentably, no late night brainstorm could offer a loophole to this mess..
On the next day, with the game about to start, her last hope was that Malfoy could cheat and cheat very well. Unfortunately, Tanya trained Harry herself and knew this sort of miracle would be too hard to come to pass. Nevertheless, this didn't really prepare her for the massacre she witnessed!
Even without using the mana sensing skill, Harry was by far too fast and too strong for even the vicious Slytherins to handle. Any bludger sent his way was effortlessly evaded. Likewise, any try for fouling was immediately perceived and avoided.
Tanya's hopes were utterly crushed when the entire adversary team tried to gang up on Harry. Not only did he survive but this left the Gryffindors free to score as much as they wanted.
The game came to a climax when Malfoy tried to stop Harry from catching the snitch by holding his broom back. Oh! Now, THAT was FUNNY!
Harry quickly flew forward and easily pulled Malfoy away from his own broom and they both shot straight at the snitch.
Draco was still holding on the firebolt for dear life as Harry triumphantly held the small golden ball highly.
"M-maybe a small peck on the check will suffice-" She locked gazes with Harry and almost burned herself with the intense fire from his eyes!
"Eek!"
Next, came the moment of the ward.
"H-he will forget about me when he holds the-"
Wood passed the cup to Harry, who uninterested passed it to Angelina Johnson.
"B-better escape and think of-"
"Come on, Tanya!"
"Let's talk to Harry!"
She had no time to act as Ginny and Luna pulled her!
"W-wait- I SAID TO WAIT! GODDAMMIT- Ah!" It was too late, she was placed in front of Harry, who had a dreamy expression on his face.
Looking at the side, she saw Hermione with eyes sparkling with anticipation. Even the crowd around was silently watching.
"Ah! That is it!"
"W-w-we should do it when we are alone!"
"Ah! Our promise back then."
"YES! Remember our promise!"
"Okay!"
"Eh?"
Harry took her bridal style and activated his own self levitating ability.
"W-what are you-" Despite his lack of precise control in this particular magic, they flew very fast to a height without another soul close by.
"He used a magic I taught him against me! I am really my worst enemy!"
With all conditions of their agreement being met, he gently lifted her chin and slowly brought his lips close to hers.
"W-W-WE CAN'T!"
"Huh?"
"W-w-we are, w-well- we are too young for this stuff!"
Those words made the boy frown at her.
"You are gonna break your promise?!"
But in the next moment, his frown melted into sorrow.
"C-could it be- you don't want to kiss me? Y-you don't reckon I am good enough for you?"
"Shit! This could ruin his trust in me and break any control I may have over him! Maybe I should allow a small k-kiss- No definitely no! I need an excuse and fast!"
"We… have… more… urgent… matters…?"
"Like what? Studying?"
"CORRECT! Children need to worry about studying before anything else!"
"Tanya, I…"
"Crap! There is no way he will buy it!"
"… get what you mean!"
"You do?"
"Ah! I was making the same mistake I did in our first divination class!"
"It worked? Really?!"
"This time, I am not rushing it! I promise to work hard for our future together! Mostly, I don't want you and Hermione angry with me."
Tanya let out a discreet breath of relief. It seems she was going to survive the day!
"But I still want to show you, you know, how much I love you. So, how about a new promise?"
"What sort?"
"If I have good grades, we kiss on the last day of the term?"
Tanya almost laughed! This was an excellent excuse and it was coming from him!
"Make it perfect grades! I demand for you to pass all your exams with flying colors!"
"Deal! And no more changing your mind later, okay?"
"Feh!There is no way he will do so well." Finally things were going her way again!
Harry Potter wasn't bothering Tanya anymore. He was just as absorbed in studying as Hermione was!
"Poor imbecile! He really thinks I am going to kiss him! What a joke!" Tanya had to hold back to not mock all his hard work!
He even asked Hermione to lend him the time turner for more time. He was too late though, the girl already handed it back to McGonagall which in turn, returned it to the department of mysteries at the ministry.
"Speaking of the department of mysteries…" Tanya was reminded no one ever came asking about the disappearance of their two employees.
Immediately, she touched the computation orb in her neck. After disposing of those two, she couldn't leave such a powerful artifact lying there, it could eventually fall into an enemy's hands.
"Hummm, it is as if they didn't exist in the first place. They may be called unspeakables but- No! I am not filling my brain with another mystery!" She shook her head. There are better things to do. Like finding a way to cast a patronus.
Tanya's attempt at using the cheering charm resulted in her laughing so hard it became impossible to concentrate to cast anything. Now she hoped the answer lay in a potion, one particularly dangerous!
"To be sure, I added parts of three people instead of one. Maybe I will put a few drops in Ginny's or Luna's pumpkin juice to see if it really alleviates the 'symptoms'." However, she ended up losing any opportunity as the busy week of exams began.
Harry was doing exceptionally well in all his tests. But she wasn't worried. After all, it was impossible for him to pass in POTION'S!
"Give him the worst grade possible!" She thought smiling to professor Snape, it would finally pay off to have a teacher so keen into bullying his students.
"Then, I only need to turn this into a permanent excuse. Say that Harry is not ready for the responsibilities of a relationship since he can't-"
"Make no mistake. I didn't do it for him!" The professor grimaced to her as he passed, a conflicted look in his face.
"Huh?"
"Tanya! I think I did it!" Harry ran to her to share his good news.
"Snape gave me full marks!"
"EHHHH?!"
"I explained how worried you were about my future. This made him act fair for once."
"B-but- he was supposed- he should- he always- Grrrrr! SEVERUS SNAPE, YOU TRAITOR!" Tanya felt a mix of shock, anger and disbelief. And she would remain like that all the way to the DADA test ground.
"Tanya, can we talk?" Professor Lupin called her with a serious tone in his voice.
Tanya winced recalling another possible mistake on her part!
She had no other lead, so giving a chance to professor Snape's suspicion, last night she fed Lupin a wolfsbane potion with a few drops of VERITASERUM.
It turned out he wasn't helping Black but he was concealing the fact that all his friends were unregistered animagus. Black himself was able to turn into a big black dog.
Tanya remembered seeing such a creature with Harry close to his relatives' home and again, concluded that he was acting weird for someone meant to kill.
It was time to uncover this mystery. Tanya asked a favor from some allies and afterwards, gave Lupin a small dosage of forgetfulness potion.
"Was I too sparing with the potion? I knew I should have used the charm, even with the small risk of damaging his brain!"
"Look, one stage of the test could be too hard for you."
She let out a breath of relief. He didn't remember anything, professor Lupin was merely worried and suggested she could be liberated from doing the test since she already demonstrated her talent with self defense.
Tanya refused, alleging she didn't need preferential treatment. He tensely supervised closely her obstacle course and as she suspected, the final part was to fight a boggart.
Unlike last time, Tanya wasn't caught off guard. Harry proved her spell for destroying ghosts worked against these beings as well. So, before 'she' could babble anything, it was with great pleasure the little girl decapitated that WEAK version of herself!
"This felt good! Maybe I will search for another boggart to- Ah!" She was reminded the others would need a boggart for their own exams!
"Don't worry. I thought this could happen and have another as backup. Congratulations! Full marks!"
A good grade is always a motive for glee, if Harry didn't also get full marks! Tanya was getting restless, at this point, her last hope was divination.
Walking with Harry to the divination tower, she saw the minister for magic, Fudge, as he was making a visit to check on the 'Black situation'. Seeing them, he immediately approached to suck up to Harry. This turned into an opportunity to cast some light on her growing suspicion.
"WHAT?! Of course Sirius Black is guilty! Please don't say rubbish! That evil man will kill you on the spot if he ever sees you!"
"No, he had his chance TWICE and did nothing."
"Besides the Potters and the muggles. Do you know what he did to Peter Pettigrew, one of his 'good friends'?!"
"Ron told me…" Harry meekly related.
"He blew him up to smithereens. The biggest part they could find was a thumb."
"Exactly! Mr Potter, please put some sense in your friend's little head!"
Actually, Tanya considered his words carefully as they waited for the divination exam.
"Humpf. He is too certain of Black's guilt. And people without a single drop of doubt, are usually wrong."
"Harry Potter!" Trelawney called.
"Wish me luck!"
"Never! You already had too much luck for a day!"
"Harry, I am going first. Wait here."
"Eh? Why-"
"Wait here!"
"Can't have him getting another good grade! I will convince her to fail him- THREATEN her if I must!"
In the tower room, Tanya saw the professor alone looking at a crystal ball.
"Professor, if you don't mind, I will do my exam before Harry."
She said nothing and kept just gazing at the ball.
"And, err, you know Harry isn't a seer, right? He can never-"
"Stop intervening!" She said harshly.
"Excuse me?" Tanya noticed the professor's eyes were rolling.
"You are bringing too much change! TOO MUCH!"
"Is this a vision?" Tanya thought of Trelawney as nothing but a con artist. However, it was a fact that she 'predicted' the way the salaryman died.
"Let the servant rejoin his master! He has to sacrifice his hand like he did with his finger or the dark lord shall spawn an even greater evil!"
"How? How can he end up worse?"
"With… with…" With trembling hands, Trelawney pointed right at Tanya.
"Me?! I would never-" Trelawney wasn't pointing at her. She pointed at what she had under her clothes, the type 95.
This action spoke more than a thousand words.
"Miss Degurechaff? Didn't I call Mr Potter-"
Tanya didn't give her any chance to talk.
"Tanya? You already finished-" She also ignored Harry as she passed him on the way out.
Trelawney finally made sense. She was the real deal and also a phony. Basically, she had the power but couldn't control it, and it turns out her most significant prophecies left her in a trance like state where she never remembers them.
Tanya was walking fast, trying to calm herself down. Being X and Voldemort working together would be the worst possible scenario. And this was seemingly possible because of her disturbing the timeline!
"Okay, okay! What she said? I am changing too much…" She came to a full stop. Focusing on her new problem, she began to analyze what Trelawney had told her.
"The servant has to rejoin his master, he has to sacrifice his hand just like his finger- Wait! HIS FINGER?!"
'He blew him up to smithereens. The biggest part they could find was a thumb.'
"Of course! If Black is innocent then someone else is guilty. And it is Peter-"
'… he was in his room late at night with someone named Peter!'
"Peter!"
'Scabbers had one of his thumbs missing…'
Everything fell in place. And as if on cue, one of Aragog's children brought her excellent news.
"W-we h-have h-him." It said with a trembling voice.
What an incredible efficiency! The acromantulas were the allies she had asked a favor the night before.
"Black may not be after Harry, but I still need to confirm if he isn't the owner of the elder wand."
Then, what should she do with him afterwards? He was probably trying to prove his innocence by catching Pettigrew.
"He can't havePettigrew. If what Trelawney said is accurate, the rat has to escape. Maybe I should hand Black over to the authorities-"
"Hold on!" She realized Black could solve a few inconveniences she was having trouble with!
"Hehehehe!" With a savage grim, she cooked up a new plan.
The acromantula already deadly afraid of Tanya, cowered under this terrifying sight.
"Take me to him. Now!"
AN0: Alright. I had to say that I was very surprised with the quantity of people asking for this story. After all, at each chapter I was luck if I got at least five reviews. To tell the truth, I tried to leave but I couldn't, the real reason is because I love this story, I really want to have it finished. But after all those evil comments, THINGS ARE GOING TO CHANGE.
First: I am not commenting in reviews unless it says something that I find very interesting.
Second: I want nice reviews. From now on, no new chapter will be posted before the old one reach at least ten nice reviews or comments. I am not demanding much, just a 'I like it' it's enough. Oh! And guest reviews will not be accepted anymore.
Third and the most important: I am not holding back anymore. Want to say that I am writing rape?! Want to call me a pedophile?! FINE! Then this is how its going to be! I will post anything my twisted and dirty mind concepts and FUCK YOU if you don't like!
And for the people who asked for me to remove the interludes that caused so much trouble:… NO! DON'T YOU DARE TO EVER SAY TO ME TO CENSURE MY WORK EVER AGAIN! This story will be with everything it has, the way it is.
Besides all that. I wish to say that I am sorry for the loyal readers. I wish all of this didn't happen. But the world is an even more evil place than I thought I knew. The worst being the ones who use the mask of decency.
AN: I ended taking too much time for this chapter too and frankly, I am not happy with it. I ask that if people found it too bad, warn me so I can work a little more on it… People keep mentioning errors and misspelling. I ask that people point it to me so I can correct.
Did you guys really believe that Tanya was kissing Harry this chapter? Sorry, but no. Maybe next time…
About the twins thinking Ron is gay, this is a theory I once read in the internet. People ask how they never asked Ron seeing him sleeping with someone named Peter on the map, and this was the answer. Some people say that it's illogical for them to not recognize the name, but I don't think that Peter Pettigrew was that famous at all. He was probably just remembered a the man who was killed by Sirius Black.
Sirius being able to trick the map is another theory that I heard on the internet. I thought it fitted well here.
Oh! And a small warning: Next chapter Tanya will act very OCC for some time. The reason will be explained if not at the end of the chapter, then in the next.
Next chapter: Tanya may know that Sirius Black is innocent. But thinks that he will still make an excellent SACRIFICE for her cause!
