November 10th

You thought me, a German, wasn't going to talk about something important in Germany that happened yesterday thirty years ago? Yeah, right! I'm talking about the collapse of the Berlin Wall, baby! If you don't know what I'm talking about, well you have been living under a rock, and I'm very disappointed in you. You have offended me, and my entire country. Pick up a history book, and do your homework! I'll still tell you, but I'm still disappointed in you.

The Berlin Wall started being made August 13th, 1961. It divided east and west Germany, which as you imagine, angered a lot of my people. So much so, as when someone tried to cross it, the person got killed. Yep, that what it was like. It was hard and frustrating for all of us. The German reunification took place the following year, almost eleven months later, October 3rd, 1990.

Then our long-waited moment came on November 9th, 1989. That was a great day for all of Germany. Sigh, wish I could have been there. By then, I was already here trapped in a fish's body from the CIA. I can only imagine, that and the news on the TV helped.

On that day, thirty years ago, no one in the family wanted to watch it on TV. I was the only one. Roger wasn't with us then, and the kids were both too young. Or in preschool, day-care, work, or just in the house doing something else.

In the future, I hope I'm there. I hope to go to Germany when I'm human, and celebrate with my fellow Germans. One day.
