If you paid attention to your TV or politics this week, you know that it was the Democratic National Convention. Several democrats spoke at the convention including the former president and his wife, Jill Biden, Biden's children, Pete Buttigieg, voices of Jimmy Carter and his wife, Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden himself, his wife and more.
What made Michelle Obama's speech more interesting is that she used Trump's words against him. Recently he's been saying 'it is what it is' to all of the Covid deaths in America. She said that Trump has been 'way over his head' and failed us as a president. Everyone in this convention had something negative to say about Trump which was to be expected because it was for Democrats and wants Biden elected. Anyway, we all 'oohed' and it was a surprising and powerful burn from the former First Lady when she used the phase 'it is what it is' at the end of her speech.
Her husband spoke two days later and agreed. When he left office he was hoping Trump was someone he and America could trust but was disappointed with others of what kind of a sorry excuse of a president Trump has become. Joe Biden was his Vice President so of course he was on board and knows Biden won't let him or the country down. Gosh, how I wish that the Obamas were still in the Oval Office. They were much nicer people, a lovelier couple and Obama knew how to run a country.
A lady spoke about how her dad trusted Trump and felt betrayed at the end when he died of the virus. China had the virus so we knew of it but Trump just ignored it and said that it'll pass. Well, four months later, he declared it was a global pandemic. I know no one can stop a virus from spreading on their own, but he still had plenty of time and didn't do anything until it was a problem here.
Kamala Harris, Biden's running mate and if elected next Vice President also spoke. If Joe wins, she'll be the First Lady of color Vice President and her husband will be the first First Gentleman of the United States. Biden choice her because he'll know she'll make a good Vice President and I believe him. She ran for president in in this election but dropped out early last December.
Then of course the last to speak was Joe Biden himself. I believed every word he said. He said he'll be a great President and on day one of him being in office promises to try to put an end to Covid somehow. He knows personal loss like everybody with losing his first wife and one- year-old daughter in a car crash in the early seventies and his son five years ago and his current wife is a military mom. I am a little worried because he's a little older then Trump but I believe without a doubt he and Kamala will be better then Trump and Pence. Plus, Kamala is about twenty years younger then him so I think it was smart to pick someone much younger to be Vice President. His wife also talked in an empty classroom.
I'm not going to talk about every one that talked. I just picked the important ones. And of course Trump didn't like what was said during the convention. Of course he wouldn't! It was for Democrats! What was he expecting? That in spite of being his opponents was going to praise him and say only good things about him? No! He'll have his week to shine next week when the Republicans speak. He'll like everything then.
I'm not sure if I'll talk about the Republicans next week or not. Maybe, so I can have blogs about both sides. You'll just have to wait and see with me I guess.
