January 8th
January 6th was a disaster at Capital Hill in Washington DC, wasn't it? 2021 has just started and already a terrible big news event happened. We just can't get a break, even in a new year, can we?
On the fated day in Washington, Trump supporters stormed up the steps of the US capital and vandalized the property. They also stole stuff. Someone stole Nancy Pelosi's podium and someone else sat at her desk. Videos showed a window being smashed, People climbing the barrier, Police trying to block them, but the mob just overpowered and outnumbered them. Truely what will go down in the history of one of America's dark days.
And what makes it worse? Apparently, Donald J Trump, America's president, has incited this mob to march up to Capital Hill and give out a message. Well, they did. Trump said that he'll march with them, but he went back to the White House.
After four hours, he told his supporters to go home. He told them that he loved them, and that they were special. Apparently, he was blocked on Twitter for 12 hours and will remain lock if his tweets weren't deleted.
Several people rightfully so were mad and told Mike Pence that he should 'seriously consider' to invoke the 25th amendment to remove Trump from office. Now, as many of you might already guess, I'm not an expert on American politics, but it might not happen considering Trump's presidency is ending in less than two weeks.
Now, I wheather have Pence in charge then Trump. I think he's more up for the job. He's more respecting. We saw that being proven in the Vice President debate with Kamala Harris. And just like I said, it's only less than two weeks away until Biden and Harris gets sworn in.
But yesterday, Trump said that anybody who took place isn't American and will be held accountable. He also said that a new president will take office and mentioned a transition of power. Does this mean he finally admitted to defeat and he won't leave kicking and screaming? We'll soon see! Also, Trump won;t be at the inauguration but Biden said Pence is more then welcome to!
It's sad to see America divided like this. It's sad that full grown adults still can't accept defeat and complain about it like whiny little bratty children. I know children who can act more responsible and civil then adults can. Shameful!
Fornatly, not all Trump supporters would ever think to go to extremes such as this. Stan is a true Trump supporter and is still disappointed that he lost, but even he agreed that this was madness and will never ever do this because he didn't get his way. The rest of the fam agreed, except Roger who said the siege was bad butt.
The actions that happened has me scared about inargeration day on the 20th. Will things go smoothly, despite Corona? Or will there be utter chaos? I honestly don't know. I want things to go smoothly and as planned as possibly could, but I honestly don't know, despite that Biden is confident that it will.
What I do know is that what had happened was an embarrassment to the whole nation. Four people died over this! I lived in America for, gosh, 35 years now and I know America is better than this. Come on, America. Be better. Please. .I know you can.
