It's nice when Disney makes something that is not a remake or a sequel. And despite this movie having to be forced to go into production at people's homes because of Covid, it was well worth it. Disney proves that they still have it in Raya and the Last Dragon.

The setting is South East Asia. And like Mulan, it has a kick butt female Asian lead named Raya. Her story starts when her father puts his trust in people that betrayed him and his people. Raya then loses trust in all people because of it. When she grows up six years later, her land is still the same as when it was destroyed.

She finds the last dragon and they go on a journey, along with some friends, to get the gems to restore her land and the people who've been turned to stone, including her father. And along the way, maybe learn to trust people again.

So while Mulan was 30 bucks on Disney Plus upon release, this was too. And this was more worthy of 30 bucks than the live action Mulan was. But Raya is on DVD now and so not 30 bucks anymore.

So welcome Raya to the club with the other Disney princesses. You really deserve it.
