Throw-Away9261 - No, that was just a huge mistake that somehow happened (and went over my head) during editing. I've fixed it, thanks for letting me know.
At the hospital, Otto Octavius was finally getting his treatment after the incident in the lab.
"Okay, as you see here, molten metal penetrated the spinal cavity and fused the vertebrae at multiple points, including the laminate and the roof of the spinal column. We won't know the extent of the damage until we get these arms off." The head doctor told the team as they worked their way around the jungle of mechanical arms to make it inside.
Everyone started to panic as they tried to run away, only to be flung into the medical equipment, across the room, into the walls, or even into the lighting. The arms were relentless on all of the doctors as they attacked. That was followed by an immediate attack on the rest of the doctors around the room.
The doctors were all slaughtered as the Doctor was awakened to look and wonder where he was. "What? What...What happened?"
Freaking out, he raced out of the lab and to the nearest doors, using his arms to slam the doors open. He made it into the street when a car came speeding by and slammed on the brakes but didn't stop fast enough and was sent flying by the arms.
Taking a moment, he remembered what happened and who did all of this to him. There was one person who could have tampered with the powerline like what happened to him.
"Warren." Otto snarled, making his way through the city.
The same day that Peter was dealing with the loss of his friend and mentor figure, Peni was on her school field trip to Oscorp. Walking around, she sadly ended up buddying with the teacher as everyone required to have a buddy on the trip. It was going perfectly fine...until something happened.
"Alright, just follow me. We're about to see some new developments in science." The tour guide told the class as he led them through the facility to their spider exhibit. The same exhibit that gave Peter his powers. They're in the order Araneae, which is divided into three subgroups. The Selena Spider, family Sparassudae, can jump to catch its prey." The tour guide continues, and they see a spider do just that. "Next we have the net web spider, family Filistatidae, genus Kukulcania. Spins an intricate, funnel-shaped web whose strands have a tensile strength proportionately equal to the type of high-tension wire used in bridge building."
Peni watched, not noticing that there was a spider loose that came down on a web, landing on Peni.
"Huh?" Peni asked as she looked down at her wrist and noticed the spider. Before she could react to it being there, the spider bit her. Peni groaned as she looked to see the spider was gone, but the bite was definitely there. "What...happened?"
That was earlier that day before Rhino came and Peter had to fight him off. That night, Peter had gone to school to fix his suit but ran into Tadashi, who had stayed to work on his robot. The two of them saw as there was nobody else coming by, so Peter changed out of his torn suit and sat down to have a conversation with Peter.
"So, you got bit by a spider?" Tadashi clarified with him.
Peter rolled his eyes at the simplifying of his origin story but decided it was true. "Sure."
"And then you woke up like this?" Tadashi asked, gesturing to his body and muscles. "Buff and all?"
"Beats the workouts I've tried to use." Peter joked and took a sip of coffee.
Tadashi nodded and took his sip. "Can you shoot webs out of you? Like...did you get some bone that allows you to shoot them?"
"What?" Peter asked him. "No!"
"Yes!" Tadashi proclaimed. "Wasabi owes me five bucks."
"Whoa, whoa, wait! You can't tell anyone about this!" Peter stopped Tadashi from finishing that thought. "The fewer people who know about this, the better for everyone."
Tadashi calmed him down and assured him. "Don't worry, I won't." Then a thought came into his mind. "But...who does know?"
"Nobody!" Peter informed him, a little louder than he anticipated. "Like...nobody knows. After everything with my uncle, I can't do that to any of them. May has too much on her mind, and if she knew about this, it might put too much pressure on her. Peni's having trouble in school, and Teresa doesn't need to worry about me."
"Should they worry?" Tadashi wonders, no idea how someone could keep such a secret from his family.
"No. I've got this," Peter promises, sighing and feeling tired. "Look, I'm tired. I'll answer all the rest of the questions tomorrow."
"Sure," Tadashi said, feeling tired himself. "Why'd you even come here?"
"I need to fix up my suit," Peter said, gesturing to the destroyed suit. "This is where I worked on this version, even having a few sub-suits around the place."
"Hm," Tadashi commented, never realizing that.
Across the school, the two of them didn't know someone else was burning the midnight oil. Miles Warren was working on sampling DNA, trying to figure out how Spider-Man works. He poured himself a drink before walking outside for a minute to get some air, he calmed down and stayed there for a moment.
He then suddenly felt like there was something off in the area and started to look around to then feel the ground shake. And that's when one of the arms came out of nowhere and sent Warren flying backward.
His glass was sent flying when an arm came down and caught it. That's when Otto came in and brought the glass closer to him. "Hello, Warren."
"Otto," Warren said in shock. "I...I thought-"
"That you killed me?" Otto asked as he grabbed Warren by the leg and raised him over the two-story drop. "You tampered with the experiment! Sent it in to overload!"
"No, no, no! That-that wasn't me!" Warren promises as he dangled for dear life. "It was Spider-Man!"
"You're lying!" Otto snarled, ready to drop him.
"I swear! There's video footage of it!" Warren promises and Otto was shocked to hear this, knowing Warren wouldn't lie about something he could prove and decided to put him down safely. "Thank you."
"You have proof?" Otto asked him and Warren showed him the footage using his tablet Otto watched as Spider-Man messed with one of the containers, leading to Lian's death and his accident. "My god...I'm going to kill him."
"How do you plan on finding him?" Warren wonders, trying that himself and having no luck.
"Parker," Otto answered.
"Peter Parker?" Warren clarifies.
"He takes photos of him for the Bugle. He'll know where I can find him." Otto promises, getting ready to go when Warren stops him.
"Hey, if it's not too much trouble...bring me Spider-Man's body when you're done with it," Warren asks and Otto saw that as weird at first, but then remembered Warren is an expert in DNA.
"Fine." Otto guesses and leaps down, crawling his way across the building and making his way to the streets.
The next morning, Peni woke up and was rubbing the part of her arm that the spider had bitten her the previous day. As she woke up and got ready to start the day, she felt like she heard something.
"Hello?" Peni asked, looking around the room and began wondering who spoke and what they said. Then she turned around and faced a familiar spider that bit her the other day. "Oh, hello again."
As she faced the spider, she reached out to touch it when there was another call from the voice. She was still confused about where it was coming from when she then looked at the spider.
"Wait...no. That's not possible." Peni scoffed even if she had no idea where the voice is, she knew that there was no way it came from a spider. "You can't talk." Then she heard the voice again, becoming very freaked out. "You...can...talk...?"
"Peni, you up?" Teresa called from downstairs.
Peni reacted by grabbing the spider and quickly hiding him in her jacket pocket. This was something she was going to need to look further into later on, not right now.
"Y-Yeah. Just finished getting dressed." Peni said a little scared and stuttering after she met with this strange spider. "On my way down now."
Peter met up with Tadashi at his aunt's coffee place to have a chat about everything that has happened. Peter told him everything, seeing no need to hide anything from him anymore.
"Rhino told me that he was working for someone known as the Jackal," Peter said as he was doing any research he could on his laptop. "I don't know if it was a codename, but I think that he was the same guy to hire the Shocker."
"Do you lay eggs?" Tadashi asks, getting Peter to stop what he was doing and look shocked at what he heard.
"What?!" Peter asked, trying not to go too loud and draw attention. "No."
"How about spit venom?" Tadashi wonders.
"Nope," Peter said, going back to researching all he could about the Jackal, whoever it might be.
"Dang. That would be cool. Like, if you had to pick a lock, just spit some out on it." Tadashi commented when they saw a familiar face enter the store. "Hey, GoGo."
"What up, fellow dorks?" GoGo asked them, a motorcycle helmet underneath her arm. "What's been going on?"
"Nothing much, just doing some chatting." Tadashi tried to lie, already being uncomfortable with the action.
"You doing okay, Pete?" GoGo asks, remembering the last they spoke.
"Much better, yeah," Peter said assuring her he was doing okay considering everything.
Fighting a rampaging guy dressed as a rhinoceros really does help with your anger management. Never try that at home.
"Great to hear." GoGo was happy to say and gave him a small smile. Then she noticed what he was looking up. "Jackal?" She then eyed Peter. "Halloween's over, Dude."
"Oh, it's nothing," Peter said as he closed the laptop. "Something I'm looking into."
"Hm." GoGo shrugged, no idea what to say next. "Okay, guys. See you guys later." She then walked off, eyeing Peter a little as she left them to get a coffee.
"That was nice of her," Tadashi commented, feeling he hadn't seen GoGo like that since they'd known her. "She been acting weird lately?"
"I don't know," Peter commented, looking over to GoGo. "She seems the same awesome, daredevil, dark kind of funny GoGo that we've known for years."
Tadashi felt a little strange by that statement from his friend and noticed GoGo was looking at Peter. "I don't know, she seems to be eyeing you recently."
Peter looked over and GoGo flinched, looking away from them the minute he noticed. He turned to Tadashi to try and talk more about what she was doing when his senses went off. Without explaining anything, he pushed the table out of the way and tackled Tadashi to the ground. The second he did just that, a car came crashing down through the window, and Peter, hoping nobody noticed, used his web shooters to shoot a cushion and slow down the car and stop it from crashing or crushing anyone else.
The friends got back up and looked around, wondering who or what just tossed a car into the window. That's when two arms came in, pinning the two of them to the car and blocking them off from everyone else.
Otto then came in, smiling at his capture. "Peter Parker."
"Otto?" Peter was shocked to see it was him who was doing all of this. "What are you doing?"
Otto then pulled Peter closer, holding the arm around his neck. "I want Spider-Man's head. He was responsible for the accident! He's responsible for Lian's death!"
"What?" Peter asked him, no idea what to think hearing that. "Otto, it was just an accident."
Otto then slammed his head into the car, shocking Tadashi and Peter, who luckily survived. "Don't lie to me, Parker!"
"Otto, I don't know where Spider-Man is!" Peter tried to lie his way out.
Otto then saw he was telling the truth. "Find him. Tell him to meet me on the downtown clocktower. I should be easy to spot." He then got an idea and sent a tentacle over the car and went to grab someone.
"Look out!" GoGo cried as she pushed the civilian out of the way and was immediately grabbed by the tentacle herself.
"You have one hour. Or I'll peel the flesh off her bones." Otto bargained with Peter. "His life or hers. Make your choice."
Peter was then slammed through the roof of the car, allowing Otto to let Tadashi go and escape with GoGo. Tadashi caught his breath before running to the car.
"Peter!" Tadashi cried when Peter punched through the roof of the car and peeled it open.
"If anyone asks: adrenaline," Peter tells Tadashi as he gets out. "The inhibitor chip in Otto's arms must've done something to make him susceptible to suggestions or something."
"What are you gonna do?" Tadashi asks.
"Go stop him. Hope to talk some sense into him." Peter said as he limped away.
"What about your suit?" Tadashi asked as the two sneaked away from the wreckage. "It's destroyed."
"I'm gonna need a new one," Peter said and saw Tadashi smile. "Come on."
The two got to school and got to work on a new-fashioned suit so he can take on Otto. With the new arms being near indestructible, he decided to use some of the metal left over from the arms to make his suit the same way.
The blue highlights of the new suit they had created have been replaced with black ones and given splits with the same boots slightly below the knee, with black outlining covering them and the feet. But now the lines have been dimmed that the color has been darkened all over the suit. The eye lenses were still the same black on the outline and white in the middle.
But with Tadashi's help with the chest insignia to protect himself from the arms that Otto has attached to him. The logo is now a giant spider insignia with its legs going over his shoulders, waist, around his neck, and even the same on the back of his suit. Hidden inside of it, again with Tadashi's help, now held four metallic arms that were hidden from plain sight. That would help Peter get an edge up on Otto and help him repel the arms.
Trying on the suit, Peter saw he was ready to take on his friend and mentor, hopefully, he can reach him before this goes too far. Okay, it might've already passed that point, but you get the idea.
