Turning Red is the third movie from Pixar to not be released in US movie theaters, and instead to Disney Plus. It was going to be released in theaters, but life had other plans. The people at Pixar were once again disappointed at Disney for doing this, but understood.

The movie is set in 2002 in Toronto, Canada. It stars an energetic 13-year-old Chinese-Canadian girl, Meilin. She likes her friends and is obsessed with boy-bands, especially 4-Town.

After getting out of bed one morning, she discovers she turned into a giant red panda, and her mom thinks she's on her period. That's right, Disney went there, and parents, it's nothing to be ashamed of. Moms, you went through this, and one day, your little daughter will too. Every girl goes through this, so I'm glad and shocked that Disney had the balls to show pads on screen. It's perfectly normal. In fact, this movie had words like 'crud', crap','drugs' 'perv', and 'sexy' in it. All of us were shocked at what they got away with in a family-friendly flick.

Anyways back to the story, Mei freaks out, but her mom and friends comfort her. Mei then learns that she turned into a panda is because of her ancestors, but a ritual involving the red moon can make it so she stays normal. But if the ritual doesn't go right, she is cursed with the red panda forever. However there's one problem, 4-Town is performing on the same night and she really wants to go to the concert with her friends.

This movie is so relatable if you grew up in the early 2000s. It has boybands, note passing in school, doodling your crush in notebooks, an embarrassing parent, Tamagotchi, and so much more.

This movie also resonates with preteen and early teen girls on what they have to go through every month. If you're a girl, you know what I mean. If you're a boy, well, if you're old enough for these blogs, you should be old enough to understand. If not, then shame on you, because you really should.

This is exactly what Hayley had to go through when she had her first period. She was freaking out, like Mei, but her mom comforted her and reassured her that it was normal and it's totally, legitimately, 100% normal for girls and women.

A lot of parents didn't like showing this type of content to their kids. But they were young teens too and went though these kinds of things. One day, their kids will too, so it's good to teach these types of things so kids will be better prepared and less afraid. You don't really see films and TV shows where their audience are mostly children, talk about these topics. So it's good to learn and see that kind of thing. In fact, it's kind of shocking that Full House didn't do it. They had 3 girls! 3 girls! It would have been perfect! Then again, they probably weren't allowed. Talk about drunk driving, dead moms, parents abusing their kids, overeating, but heaven forbid, don't talk about periods!

Overall, the movie was really good. It's not a masterpiece, but still good. Once again, I can't stress enough on how much stuff this film got away with, but that is also a reason to love it.

This film had a blood moon in it, and because of that, I thought, what better way to make this two part blog yet again by shifting gears and talk about the blood moon that happened in real life too on the night of May 15th and ended in the early hours of May 16th of this year.

It was a total Lunar eclipse. The entire fam watched as the moon was turning red and was totally red. It was really cool to see, If you missed it, the next one is in November, but in some places, it may be cold. There are more Lunar eclipses down the line, so you're probably have another chance to see real good ones. And maybe, have a blood moon party in the future, invite your middle school besties, and watch Turning Red. Make it a red night to remember!

This is the last planned one for a while. I say 'planned' because I can't say for certain. It's up to my brain and what I decide at that moment on my next blog post.
