Peace.
That's all Peter has felt these past few weeks since everything went down.
Ever since he stopped the Jackal, put an end to his reign of terror, and finally got a lollipop from Baymax. Something he was waiting for him to come back before giving it to him from when he treated him for the neurotoxin.
Still needs to ask Tadashi where the robot keeps them.
The arms in his suit were also destroyed, but Peter saw that as a less important part to worry about. Other than that, things have been quiet around the city.
No crime.
No trouble.
Not even a purse thief.
Seems that everyone is still recovering from the whole city turning into giant spider's thing.
Over the week, Peter had been able to take a break from Spider-Man and just be with his friends and family.
He spent a little time with May at F.E.A.S.T. to help out the people there. Then he even went out to the movies with his friends. Sure, it was to see the new Kentucky Kaiju film that Fred wanted to see, but it counted. Not to mention that his relationship with GoGo was going better than ever.
He finally had everything that he wanted in his life. Good friends who are back to normal. His sister has a friend for the first time in years. Teresa was still hard at work on the wing pack when she wanted to get back into the hero work.
Teresa saw that there was no reason for her to get back into it for now with Spider-Man out there. Especially with there finally being a low crime rate in recent days, there was barely a need for him.
But to keep the public assured he isn't going anywhere, Peter still swung through the city. Not to mention it was still his only way of providing food for his family.
Taking photos for the Bugle exploded after Spider-Man saved the city. Even though Jameson tried to get everyone to see that it was Spider-Man's fault.
But nobody anywhere even considered the idea since everyone, including the Avengers, backed Spider-Man up as a hero who helped cure the city. Spider-Man might still have a few haters, but they mostly consisted of the criminals that he put away before and after everything.
He was the beloved hero that he never asked to be. Proclaimed a hero and didn't even take the offer of an award offered by the mayor. Yuri approached him a while ago and said they considered giving him a medal for his heroics. But he immediately declined, knowing even if he got it, he had nowhere to display it.
All these years, he's never pushed himself to exhaustion like this by taking down the Jackal. But now he's stronger because of it. Stronger and now seeing that these bank robbers and purse-snatchers weren't all that he was going to be facing from here on out.
Even Shocker and White Rabbit were crazies with gadgets. But with all of these new criminals with real powers - Sandman, Rhino, Electro, Jackal - things were going to be harder before they get easier.
And yet, that statement from Jackal was still playing around in his head. Who was he talking about? Who is he?
Does this mean something bigger was on the horizon? Someone out there was talking to the Jackal, who seemed to have some plan for the city.
"He will have you on your hand and knees. Making you beg to work for him. But only after you lose everything."
Lose everything. Those were the words that stuck with him the most. It keeps him up some nights. Wondering if Jackal was just messing with him or was being serious.
But he didn't have time to worry about that right now as he was currently working in his labs late at night. He was really just waiting for GoGo, who was also working on her bike.
They had some time to make up for it as the school was shut down for a week. This was due to the Cops, CSI, FBI, CIA, S.H.I.E.L.D., and just about everyone, looking for any more secret labs Jackal had. Not to mention the work on fixing the damage that he caused to the school, the hole the SP //DR left behind, and all the damage from the Man-Spiders.
Jackal may be gone, but he still left a mark on the entire city.
Teresa was also here but wasn't able to work on the wing pack as she was working on her new project. This project was something that she thought would be useful to help her when she got back into Red Wing. She was developing a belt that she would wear, giving her a forcefield that would block incoming shots. Something that would be useful not only for her but for law enforcement as well.
Not to mention her specific belt also comes with the capacity to give her a small portion of anti-gravity. This way, if her wings were to break, it would slow her descent slow enough so she could survive.
Tadashi was here a while ago, but he left after saying something that had to do with his brother.
Peter was finally working on the neuro-interface to the point that it wasn't dangerous anymore. He managed to get it to the point it was a small device that would be attached to the front of the person's head.
While GoGo was speeding around the labs, Peter was feeling a sense that Tadashi was on his way over. With a visitor. When the doors opened, Tadashi was the first to walk in with a younger boy behind him. Thanks to the pictures that Peter has seen, and the fact that he was carrying a small robot in his hands, Peter knew that it was his little brother, Hiro.
He wore a blue hoodie jacket, a red shirt with a humanoid robot on it, long dark beige cargo Capri shorts, and dark brown Converse sneakers with yellow laces. He has fair skin, brown eyes, and messy black hair. His eyelashes and eyebrows are somewhat thick, and his eyes are a rounded almond shape. When he smiles or opens his mouth, a gap in his teeth can be noticed along with a slight overbite.
"Oh, great, I get to see your nerd lab!" Hiro said with a sigh.
Just at that moment, GoGo came speeding past him and almost smacked him. "Heads up!"
Hiro jumped back to dodge the incoming woman as she came to a stop near her labs. Once she got off the bike, she easily raised it due to its low mass and placed it on the hooks to hold it. Taking off one of the wheels, she looked over it before tossing it onto the bike and magnetically returning it to place.
Hiro made his way over to the bike and was amazed at what he saw around the room. He saw the other eight of them around the room working on their own and waved a hand through the wheels.
"Whoa. Electro-mag suspension?" Hiro asked, amazed at what he was seeing.
"Hey," GoGo called, getting Hiro's attention as he jumped and turn to face GoGo wearing her biker helmet. "Who are you?"
Tadashi then made his way back over and pulled Hiro closer. "GoGo, this is my brother, Hiro."
GoGo then removed her helmet and showed her face to Hiro. Then she blew a bubble with the gum she was chewing until it popped and kept chewing.
"Welcome to the nerd lab," GoGo said as she went around the wheels and spun it.
"I've never seen electro-mag suspension on a bike before," Hiro commented as he watches her spin the pedal.
"Zero resistance, faster bike," GoGo said as she grabbed the front wheel. "But..." Then she took off the wheel and tossed it across the room. The brothers moved out of the way and allowed the wheel to keep going until it hits the trash with a bunch of different wheels. "Not fast enough. Yet."
GoGo then walked off, and Hiro started to walk around, finding Wasabi working on his laser grid. "Whoa, whoa, whoa!" He stopped Hiro from going too far and gestured to the yellow tape on the floor. "Behind the line, please."
Hiro did as he was asked while Tadashi walked up and patted his brother on the shoulder. "Hey, Wasabi, this is my brother Hiro."
Wasabi then raised his goggles off his face and smiled at them. "Hello, Hiro." Then he picked up an apple nearby and tossed it. "Catch."
When the apple passed through the lasers, it immediately split into a dozen pieces, thin enough to look through. Hiro caught one of them and looked into the piece as Tadashi activated the laser grid so he could see it.
"Laser-induced plasma?" Hiro asked as Wasabi walked over to his workspace.
"Oh, yeah, with a little magnetic confinement for ultra-precision," Wasabi tells him as he fixed one of his wrenches that were out of place.
Hiro looked down and picked up one of his tools, looking through it. "Wow. How do you find anything in this mess?"
Wasabi then took the tool back and puts it back in its place. "I have a system. There's a place for everything, everything in its place."
Then suddenly, as if out of nowhere, GoGo ran over and grabbed one of his wrenches. "Need this!"
And before anyone could protest, she ran off to her workspace. Then she was quickly followed by Wasabi chasing after her. "You can't do this! This is anarchy! Society has rules!"
Then Honey Lemon came rolling past, rolling four hundred pounds of tungsten carbide through the room. Making her way over to her part of the labs, Tadashi and Hiro walked over and watch her push the orb onto a centerpiece to hold it.
Pushing it back, rolling with it like she had no spine, she looked up to see the two of them. "Tadashi!" She then got up and saw Hiro. "Oh, my god. You must be Hiro. I've heard so much about you!" She then removed the headphones and pulled Hiro around the room. "Perfect timing. Perfect timing."
"That's a whole lot of tungsten carbide," Hiro commented.
"Four hundred pounds of it!" Honey confirmed as she worked him through the process she goes through. Once done, she took a small canister and sprayed it onto the ball, activating electricity. Then, in the end, it became a giant pink ball. "Ta-da!"
"So... pink," Hiro commented, with no idea what to think.
"And here's the best part," Honey said as she jumped over to the ball before lightly touching it.
The action caused the entire ball to go off, sending pink gas everywhere. Hiro was shocked by what just happened and chuckled.
"Whoa," Hiro said in amazement.
"I know, right?" Honey asked as she wiped the gas off her mask and face.
Hiro was starting to look around again as she spotted Peter working on his neural interface. Walking over to him, one of the arms waved at Hiro as Peter saw him coming.
"Hey there, kid." Peter greeted him. "You must be Hiro."
"Uh...yeah," Hiro confirmed as he looked at what Peter was working on. "What's this?"
"Let me show you," Peter said as he placed the neural interface on his head. "This is something my friends and mentor have been working on."
Using his mind, he moved one of the two arms on the table, making it reach into a bucket full of tennis balls. Hiro was shocked as he watched Peter pick up one of them and tossed it into the air. But then he reached out, sending the arm out farther than any arm could reach and it grabbed the ball. Then he started to use the second hand and passed it over to it. One arm then picked up a handful of balls before starting to pass them back and forth, adding more and more balls every second.
After emptying the entire bucket, all of the balls were being juggled with more capacity than any human could ever do. Then after a few moments, he started to drop one ball at a time, all of them ending back up inside of the bucket.
"Wow," Hiro commented as the arms started to go back to the table.
"Yeah. Took two years and a lot of work." Peter agreed as he placed them down to the side. "But this is going to change a lot of lives one day."
"Getting pretty good with that, man." Tadashi complimented his friend.
"What, no weird nickname like Honey Lemon, GoGo, or Wasabi?" Hiro asked.
"I spilled wasabi on my shirt one time people!" Wasabi cried as he was on his way into the connecting room. "One time!"
"My sister and I are the only two who haven't been given nicknames," Peter said as he gestured over to Teresa.
Who also had Peni as she was playing on a game device near her desk. May had the night shift so they needed to bring Peni with them.
"And I'm thankful for that," Teresa said as she was working on the belt. "Hi, I'm Teresa. Peter's twin sister." She then gestured to Peni. "That's Peni, our little sister."
"Hi." Peni greeted him.
"You're a student here, too?" Hiro asked Peni.
"Oh, no, I'm just visiting," Peni explains.
"Not that she can't actually come here." Peter defended his sister. "She's just...shy."
"Huh," Hiro commented as he understood that and looked at the belt. "So, what are you working on here?"
Teresa had a grin and saw she needed to test it out. "I'll show you." She then walked over and placed the belt around his waist before pushing the center, causing it to glow. "Don't worry, it's safe. Hopefully."
"Hopefully?" Hiro asked as Teresa walked over to the tennis bucket and picked one out. "What's that for?"
"This," Teresa said as she tossed the ball at Hiro.
"Ahh!" Hiro cried as he shielded himself. But then he saw that a forcefield shielded him from the ball. "What? A forcefield?"
"Something that I thought of during the army of Spider-Men and Man-Spiders incident," Teresa informed the boy as she then reached in slowly, pushing the belt and it shut down. "Still working on a few kinks."
"Pretty cool idea, T," Tadashi told her.
"So, GoGo, Honey Lemon, Wasabi, Peter, and Teresa?" Hiro recapped all of them. "Who comes up with the nicknames here?"
"Fred." Peter and Teresa called out.
"Who's Fred?" Hiro asked.
That's when Fred suddenly appeared, almost like out of nowhere, and leaned behind Hiro. "This guy!" Hiro shrieked when he saw Fred's costume too close. "Ah, don't be alarmed. It's just a costume." He then removed it from his face as he looked down at Hiro and shook his hand. "Names Fred. School mascot by day, but by night...I am also the school mascot."
"So what's your major?" Hiro asked him.
"No, no, I'm not a student," Fred said as he went to his corner of the labs. His is just a beaten-up chair and a table filled with his comics and pizza boxes. "But I am a major science enthusiast." He then held up one of his comics with a scientist turning into a giant lizard. "I've been trying to get Honey to develop a formula that can turn me into a fire-breathing lizard at will. But she says that's not science."
Honey Lemon walked over and shrugged. "It's really not."
"Yeah, and I guess the shrink ray I asked for Wasabi for isn't science either," Fred said as he looked over to Wasabi, who also joined them. "Is it?"
"Nope." Wasabi confirmed.
"What about the jet boots I asked Teresa for? Are those not science?" Fred asked as he looked over at her.
"Not science," Teresa confirmed as she kept going on the belt.
Fred: Oh yeah, if it's "not science" then how could you explain Bruce Banner's transformation into the Incredible Hulk?" Fred asked as he is looking at Honey Lemon. "Antman's shrinking technology?" He said as he looked at Wasabi. "Or Tony Stark's ironman armor? Isn't that science? Also, may I remind you guys that in this city, we have a man that can do anything a spider can. What's his name? Spider-man!" He said as he was showing everyone a Spider-man picture from his copy of the Daily Bugle.
Yes, he gets physical copies of the paper. Nobody understands why.
"And not to mention that everyone, including us, had turned into rampaging Man-Spiders by the Jackel, and nearly turned San Fransokyo into a Spider-Island." Fred finished his speech.
"You do recall that all of those things created terrible things, right?" Peter reminded his friend. "Yellowjacket, Iron Monger, Abomination? Not to mention that the Spider-Man stuff also brought us the Jackal, Shocker, and Connors turning into a Lizard?"
Fred thought about it and remembered his request. "Okay, you may have a point."
GoGo then walked over as Peter turned off his equipment and was done for the night. "You ready to head out?"
"Sure. What do you want to do tonight?" Peter asked as the two started to make their way out. "Dinner? Movie? I got my check from Jameson."
"Let's see what we hit first," GoGo said as they made their way out.
Teresa couldn't help but smile, turning off her own equipment. "What do you say we head out ourselves?"
"Sure," Peni said as she shut off her console and took SP out of her jacket. "You good?"
"Good thing Wasabi doesn't see him," Teresa said as she opened the doors, and they made their way out. "He'd freak out."
"Which is why SP stays hidden," Peni said as she placed SP on her shoulder. "So, what are we doing?"
"Well, it seems that we're gonna be alone," Teresa said, looking to Peter and GoGo who were heading in the opposite direction. "How about you and I have a girl's night?"
"Sure." Peni shrugged.
As they made their way to the elevator, they bumped into Robert Callaghan who had just said goodbye to Tadashi and Hiro. Teresa and Peni stopped to let him pass as Callaghan saw them.
"Going home, Teresa?" Callaghan asked her.
"Yes, sir," Teresa said as she looked at Peni. "Professor, this is my sister, Peni."
"Ah, yes, I've heard a lot about you through your siblings," Callaghan said as he looked down at her and smiled. "I heard you have a brilliant mind. Have you ever considered coming to school here? Your age won't be an issue here."
"Not really," Peni admitted as the elevator came by. "I kind of enjoy my childhood."
"Fair enough," Callaghan said as they went into the elevator. "See you tomorrow, Teresa."
"See ya, Professor," Teresa said as the doors closed.
While that was going on, Alistair Krei was in his newest experiment in the middle of the prison. In the center of a giant glass container was Max Dillon, the incidentally created criminal known as Electro. They were working on an experiment that could absorb the energy out of him and power the city for years.
"Alright, we are all ready," Krei said as he activated the speaker. "How are we feeling, Max?"
"You sure this is going to work on me, Doc?" Max asked him.
"Positive," Krei assured him and let go of the speaker. "This is gonna work, right?"
"We don't know." One of the scientists shrugged.
"Well, then let's see." Krei shrugged, wondering how this is gonna end.
They started to activate the machine, and several rods that looked like lightning rods came out and zapped him. Max cried in pain as he felt the electricity start to leave his system. As the electricity left his body, they were supposed to be drained and go into the canisters.
But someone else had a different idea.
Francine Frye was actually absorbing the energy out of Electro and into herself. Max Dillon wanted a cure and is now getting what he wants. Francine wants the power and will soon get what she wants.
The more energy that was drained out of Max, the more energy that was absorbed into Francine.
When all the energy was taken out of Max, she felt all of the energy out of him. He was alive, and not a mutant anymore. But with the death of Max Dillon's Electro, this was the birth of Francine Frye's Electro.
"This is where the fun begins," Francine said as the electricity turned from yellow to blue.
