As Fred was engrossed in a comic book in his cozy bedroom, a sudden attack caught him off guard. It was a spine-chilling monster, with a dark grey body that had black stripes all over it. Its razor-sharp claws and tufts of hair added to its already terrifying appearance. In a state of panic, Fred started running around his room to escape from the monster, but it was too late. The monster pounced on him, and he found himself pinned to the ground, struggling to break free.
"Okay, maybe we got off on the wrong foot here," Fred tells him. "I'm Fred. You're a big scary monster. We're not so different here."
The creature roared in Fred's face, spooking him further.
"Never mind. We're different. Very different." Fred cried.
"What's past is the prologue!" The monster said before he left through the same hole that he made.
Hiro, Baymax, GoGo, and Peter were the first ones to respond to the incident since they were out on a date at the time. Well, they didn't exactly make it to the date. GoGo wanted to confront Peter about his attitude recently, even Teresa was growing concerned and asked her to see what she could find out but with everything going on, that was put aside for now.
"So what did this thing look like?" Hiro wonders.
"Okay, so imagine if you put if you put a whale and a dinosaur and some hair into a blender then pour that into a human-shaped ice tray and freeze it, and then let it thaw just a little," Fred tells them.
"If I hadn't fought a human mutant Jackal and a Lizard-man, that might scene strange." Peter sighed.
Hiro picked up a picture frame of Fred's dad that the monster bit. "Baymax?"
"I will run a DNA scan," Baymax said as he started to take a sample.
"He must've been an old enemy of my dad's." Fred took a guess. "He said, "What's past is prologue." Which sure sounds like something a monster - out for revenge would say."
"And he ate his portrait," Peter stated as he looked around the room. "And Connor's did seem to contain some intelligence sheen he became Lizard."
Baymax then came back with the results. "The DNA does not match any known species."
"Real-life monster." Fred squealed. "Coolest dad ever!"
The next day they got everyone together and told them of what the situation was like now. They took all of Fred's dad's enemies' files and looked them over for anyone who looked anything like the monster Fred saw.
"Wow, your dad had a lot of enemies," Hiro commented.
"Yeah, but I can't figure out which one of my dad's old nemesis," Fred stated. "Nemeses? Nemecinnamonsinnamons? Nemesis? How would you say that? Nemisynonym? Necinnamon?"
"Oh! This guy's called "The Monster"!" Honey said and showed it to them.
"No, he was more of a social monster," Fred explains to her. "Talked during movies, clipped his toenails on public transportation. Gross stuff like that."
Honey was just as disgusted. "Ew."
"Uh, guys? We just saw Granville heading this way." Wasabi said as he and Teresa entered the room.
"And she looks...Very un-Granville," Teresa tells them.
"How do you mean?" GoGo asks as Granville comes skidding into the room with a large smile. "Oh. That's what you mean."
"Straighten up the lab," Granville tells them as she starts fixing things around. "There's a visitor coming!" She starts chuckling. "You also might want to hide him somewhere!"
They weren't sure if she was referring to either Baymax or Fred.
"Nemeseses?"
"So, who's the visitor we're pulling the red carpet out for?" Teresa wonders.
"Liv Amara," Granville tells them, getting no reaction.
"Wait. "Liv Amara" Liv Amara?" GoGo seemed to know who she was referring to. "Founder of Sycorax?"
"Precisely," Granville confirmed.
"Only one of the words GoGo just said meant anything to me." Peter knew about Sycorax the company, but little else. They had not done anything to require his attention as either Spider-Man or Peter Parker.
Who wants to tell him? I'm not telling him.
"Liv Amara is 23 and runs her own biotech company," GoGo explained to Peter. "In other words, totally hardcore."
GoGo then blew a bubble that Granville quickly popped. "Totally hardcore, indeed. And she's donated funds for SFIT's new bio-tech building." She then started cleaning up the files, not even looking at them. "There's going to be a dedication ceremony later this week."
"Oh! I see. That's what the big tent outside is for." Fred said with a sad groan.
"Aw, you thought the circus was coming, didn't you?" Honey comforted him.
"Yeah," Fred admitted.
"Liv Amara has heard about Baymax, and she'd like to meet him, and you," Granville admitted as she gestured to Hiro.
"Ooh! Goals!" Wasabi gave Hiro a high five as helicopter blades whirring is heard from outside.
"There she is now! Look intelligent." Granville said as she exited the labs.
Just as the doors closed, the door opened with excessive force by Karmi as she ran into the room. "I saw Liv Amara's helicopter land, and I had to come and meet her! She is my hero! I love her! Is she here?" She said frantically.
Everyone was silent as Baymax said. "You should breathe now."
"Karmi," Hiro chuckles. "she's here to see me."
"Then she'll be very pleasantly surprised by me," Karmi stated. "I have a discovery that might surprise even her."
Peter suddenly started to hear that voice come back. "She can't talk. If she talks about us, they will separate us."
"Hey, Karmi, can we talk?" Peter knew he needed to keep her from talking.
Karmi was a little confused but decided to follow. "Uh, sure."
Peter and Karmi took a few steps away and went across the room to talk alone. "I have an easy guess of what it is you want to show Amara."
"Yeah, you said that I could take full credit for it, right?" Karmi reminded him.
"Yes, I did, but I think we should keep our little friend a secret between us," Peter whispered, trying to keep the sample of Symbiote she had under wraps.
Karmi was a little confused. "Okay, why?"
"I just don't think we understand much about it yet to have it be known to others," Peter explains. "I mean, what have you found out so far about it?"
"Well, it's pretty dangerous," Karmi admitted what she had discovered. "It needs energy from a host to survive. It even amplifies aggression in its hosts."
"See?" Peter says, having seen that she had made his point. "We don't know what it is. We should keep the people who know what it is as small as possible."
Karmi however looked over Peter's attire, seeing it wasn't as common messy, but looked more disgusting, but also suspiciously black. She looked over his hair and also noticed that it was longer and less scruff but over his eye. She might not like people, but she could see that a sudden change in behavior like this was not normal for anyone. Especially for someone like Peter.
"Peter, you didn't keep any of that stuff, did you?" Karmi asks him.
Peter scoffed when he heard that. "No."
Karmi felt that it wasn't true but was immediately distracted when the doors opened and Amara came in with Granville. "Students, meet Ms. Amara!"
"Come on, Grace. You can call me Liv." Amara tells Granville.
"Grace?" Teresa and Honey ask.
"Liv, this is Hiro Hamada." Granville introduced them.
"Which must make this little guy Baymax!" Amara said as she gave Baymax a lookover.
"I am relatively large in stature." Baymax greeted.
"So, tell me about him," Amara tells Hiro.
"Uh, hyper-spectral cameras." Hiro went over the list. "Carbon-fiber skeleton."
"I can see that! I mean, what led you to create him?" Amara asks him.
"Oh, I-I actually didn't. My brother did." Hiro confessed.
"Oh. Well, great to meet you." Amara said as she started
"But- but the upgrades are all me!" Hiro admitted, trying to keep her interest. "And I've invented-"
"Excuse me, Ms. Amara? I'm Karmi." Karmi introduced herself. "Let me introduce to you the extradermal nano-receptor." She then opened a box and showed off small purple disks. "Tiny, painless. No needles."
"An iontophoretic delivery system? And it works?" Amara asked as she looked it over.
"Yep! I've run three rounds of trials while..." Karmi admitted, almost slipping about the Symbiote. "The last trial was really promising."
"Karmi, this is incredible."
"Hey, how would you like to come with us to see the new biotech building?" Amara asks her.
"Uh is artemisinic acid the world's most effective anti-malarial compound?" Karmi asks as Liv laughs.
Hiro growled at how fast Karmi took the spotlight off of him. "Professor Granville, you said she was here to see me!"
"She was, Mr. Hamada, but Karmi wowed her," Granville stated.
"Karmi invented a sticker." Hiro scoffed as he handed the piece to Fred.
"Green isn't a good color on you, Mr. Hamada," Granville stated as she left the room.
Baymax commented. "Hiro is not wearing green."
"She means he's jealous of Karmi," GoGo explained to the robot and turned to Peter. "So, what were you talking to Karmi about?"
"Nothing. Just a side project I didn't want her to discuss with her." Peter tells her.
"Seemed a little more important than that," Teresa stated as she approached her brother. "You haven't been acting right for a while. You've been acting a lot more...aggressively."
"Aggressive?" Peter scoffed as he turned to face his sister. "I don't know if you've seen what I deal with, but we deal with a lot of crazy things. If I'm aggressive, then get used to it. Because this is how i deal with everything."
"Peter, we're a team." Teresa reminded him.
"Team?" Peter asks as he turns to face them. "You seem to forget something. I'm the hero here. Not you. You guys are nothing but people playing dress up." He then walked over to open the window as the Symbiote formed around him. "I gotta clear my head. I'll be sure to come by the next time you cry for help."
Then Peter went off swinging into the city leaving them to digest what he had just said. "Okay. Something is definitely wrong with him." GoGo confirmed.
"We need to talk to Karmi when she gets back." Teresa agreed, wondering what's been going on with her brother. "Figure out what this project is."
"And it looks like we're needed," Hiro told them as he got a call from Krei's assistant.
Krei was curled up under a blanket as the heroes saw that his entire office was destroyed. But then again, it usually is destroyed. It's pretty funny to see how many times this has happened, starting all the way back when Yokai attacked a few weeks ago. His assistant Judy walked in and gave Krei some tea to calm down. Peter was the only one who wasn't around because he wasn't coming around. Well, Peter, Hiro, Wasabi, and Baymax. Wasabi just preferred not to run into the monster, and Hiro was still trying to up Karmi in her biotech. And none of them even dared call Peter and wanted to give him the chance to calm down.
"This creature just burst in here, said something weird, and left! I was barely able to fight it off!" Krei cried out as he took a sip. "Ooh! This tea is hot!"
"Oh, he hid behind a file cabinet until it left," Judy told them as Krei growled. "Bravely."
"What did it look like?" Teresa asks.
"It was like if you put a whale a dinosaur and some hair into a blender, then poured that into a human-shaped ice tray, froze it, and let it thaw a little," Krei confirmed exactly what Fred said.
"Told ya! That's the monster!" Fred stated.
"What weird thing did it say?" Honey asks.
"This thing of darkness I acknowledge mine," Krei tells them. "I don't know. Something like that. There were a lot of grunts in there! Why is there... What smells like shrimp scampi?"
Everyone smelled the air and looked towards Fred, where the smell was coming from. "Oh, I'm a monster hunter now. So, I came prepared!"
"Fred, garlic is for vampires," Teresa informed her friend.
"Yes." Fred lied as he started to bite the garlic. "This is just a snack."
GoGo got back on the subject and faced Krei. "Go back a sec. What were you doing when this freak attacked?"
"Nothing!" Krei sounded almost offended. "I was finally supposed to be meeting with an investor, Orso Knox."
"Orso Knox?" Teresa asks.
"One of the richest men in San Fransokyo," Judy explained as she gave them some tea. "Trust fund baby."
"Wait, Orso Knox?" Fred recognized the name. "That's the guy my mom had to cancel on the night the monster attacked!"
"I've been courting him for years, and then suddenly, Liv Amara shows up, and all he wants to do is invest with her impressive new company, and her shiny, shiny hair!" Krei growls.
"He's a little jealous," Judy explains.
"What?! My hair shines." Krei stated.
After a failure from Hiro trying to impress Amara, he went back to focusing on the monster. Hiro, Baymax, Honey, Fred, and Peni went to check out the home of Orso Knox to see what they could discover. Peter was also coming over to meet the party since Teresa wasn't going to be around, and nobody else heard their conversation earlier. The door was left open as they slightly pushed it to see the inside of the house was a complete mess.
"Mr. Knox?" Hiro asks as he opens the door.
Fred commented. "Weird."
Honey Lemon called out. "Mr. Knox? The door was open. May we come in?"
"Yeah, I don't think he is gonna care anymore," Peter commented as he strolled inside. "Doors left slightly open, it's free for all." Then he walked into the living room and was a little surprised at the complete mess his office was in. "Whoa."
"This office..." Peni started when Fred interrupted.
"Is Wasabi's worst nightmare!" Fred said as Hiro heard glass shatters. Looking down he spotted a photo of Orso Knox
Honey Lemon then looked and found his schedule. "He's not supposed to be out today."
Hiro muttered as he looked it over. "Office hours." Huh."
"Baymax? Can you find Knox?" Hiro asks as Baymax gets to work.
Baymax started to scan the city for Orso Knox. "Scanning biometric data."
Peter's senses then went off, causing the suit to immediately react as it created a giant barrier between everyone. Before anyone could question what was going on, the walls blew open and revealed the monster to them all. Peter retracted the protecting barrier and they came face to face with the monster.
"See? I told you! He looked like if you put a whale and a dinosaur and some hair into a blender aah!" Fred proclaimed before he was picked up and thrown into the wall.
"Get out of the way!" Peter threw everyone aside with the tentacles as he tackled the creature himself. When he grabbed it by the head, he was smashed into the wall and scrapped alongside it.
Honey helped by tossing a chemball that froze around it. But the monster managed to break out of the ice quickly and turned his attention from Peter towards Honey. When it went after her, Fred jumped in the way.
"I got this!" Fred said as he held out some garlic.
That didn't end well for him as it only ended up bringing another smack as the Monster then sent Fred flying into the wall again. Peni came charging and used SP to grab the arms of the creature and started trying to push it away as it was doing the same. When she had it distracted, Peter started to get back up and the monster looked over Knox's schedule. When Hiro went for it, the monster easily pushed Peni back and even ripped one of the arms of her mech before it grabbed him and raised Hiro up to his face.
"All the devils are here."
"Huh?" Hiro asks.
Before any more questions could be asked, Peter came back in and tossed several pieces of rubble at the monster. When it started to get mad, it dropped Hiro and ran for the hole that it made. Peter leaped over to the hole and watched as it ran, his suit tracking where it was going and its heat signature.
"It got away from us." Peter snarled in anger.
"We can still catch up to him," Hiro said as he turned to Baymax. "Let's get after him before-"
"No!" Peter called out as he turned to them all. "He's mine!"
"What?" Fred asks in shock. "He's got big teeth!"
"So do I." Peter snarled as he leaped to begin chasing the monster, shooting out a web as he swung over towards it.
"So...what do we do?" Honey asks.
Hiro picked up Knox's schedule and started to wonder that himself. What was their next move?
Meanwhile, Peter was swinging off to chase after the creature by making his way through the city streets. Cars were slamming on their brakes while the monster came running through the streets, ripping up chunks of the road in the process. Peter managed to keep up as he then shot a web onto its tail to try and slow it down. But it didn't do much as he ended up as the monster only leaped and started to run on the train tracks.
Peter only kept running as he shot two webs and several tentacles became a slingshot to help him keep up with the creature. "I am getting damn near sick of this monster hunt!" He then made it so he landed on top of the creature. "You and I have a score to settle!"
As Peter was trying to stop the creature, it rolled around to try and get Spider-Man off of its back, ending with it running up a building. Peter managed to hold on as he tried to control the creature and began to try and force it to stop. But it didn't end well as he was only dragged up the building with him.
"What's the plan when you get to the top?!" Peter questioned the logic in this creature's plan. "Fly away?!"
When the creature made it to the roof, Peter leaped off of it and was growing tired of the chase. "There's nowhere left to run now!"
As he said this, there was a disturbance in the means of a helicopter that came up and was aiming a sniper rifle a the monster. Peter was worried about what was going to happen as the sniper then shot the monster, causing it to tumble backward and fall off the building. Peter snarled as he saw the creature was also climbing back up. He leaped down the building and wrapped his arms around the creature's snout which he then used to wrap his Symbiote's tentacles to then wrap around the snout. Once that was completed, he yanked backward to try and pry it off the building.
What was he thinking?!
When the monster finally let go of the building, the two of them were sent toppling down toward the street while Peter tried to stay a distance away from it. When he was grabbed by the monster, he then took full force to the street, leaving a gigantic impact crater.
Then everything went black.
Hiro and the rest of the team met up at Fred's place to discuss everything that happened. Their concern for Peter, the monster, just everything.
"And you let him go off on his own?" Teresa asked them.
"Hey, we thought of chasing him, but we decided it was probably best not to." Hiro defended.
"Yeah, he was seriously moody," Fred stated. "I mean, I would be too if I were just shoved against the wall and almost eaten a few times. Especially with all of those dramatic statements."
"Yeah, that thing said 'All of the devils are here.'" Hiro explained.
"It's like dude, start a blog." Fred groaned.
Honey was looking up something when she came across the same quote. "All the devils are here." She confirmed. "The Tempest."
"The what?" Peni asks.
"It's a Shakespeare play," Teresa explains to her. "Remember it from High School. Parts of it."
"Thing of darkness, I acknowledge mine, What's past is prologue." Honey listed everything the monster said. "They are all quotes from the Tempest."
"So, the monster is a Shakespeare fan?" Teresa was a little confused.
"No, but Orso Knox was." Honey explains and comes to the conclusion "I think..."
"The monster is Orso Knox!" Baymax and Honey said at the same time.
"You know, now one of you owes the other a soda," Fred stated.
Baymax then showed a scan he took of the monster, "I mapped the iris on the photo of Orso Knox." He then zoomed in on the eyes. "It matched with the monster."
"What happened to him? Some kind of genetic mutation?" Honey wonders. Peni learned her throat, getting Honey's attention as she turned over and looked down at SP, who she was sitting on while inside the mech. "Oh, right, sorry Peni."
"Wait a minute." Hiro finally realized something when he started to look at the schedule. "Fred's house, Krei's office."
"Knox has been keeping his appointments!" Honey understood his thinking.
"This means the next place he's going is..." Teresa saw that he planned to go to the banquet at...uh-oh.
SFIT.
"What do we do here?"
"What's the protocol?"
"What is that suit made out of?"
"Back off!" Yuri demanded as she pushed her way through the officers. The monster was long gone, but Peter was still unconscious on the street when the police arrived. She was relieved that this costume didn't have an easy way of taking off the mask and kept his identity a secret. "Spider-Man?"
Peter groaned when he finally woke up and grabbed his head in pain. He then started to stand up, still feeling a little out of it. "What the hell, Yuri? Rockets?"
"That was not authorized by me." Yuri defended. "Wasn't from my prescient. But Captain Anderson is gonna get an earful of me later for that."
"Next time you or your cops want to help, Yuri... Don't." Peter snarled as he walked off. "Now I gotta find this thing again."
"Well, if you don't want our help, guess I don't need to tell you that the creature was spotted heading East," Yuri informed Peter. "Towards SFIT."
Peter groaned when he heard that. "SFIT. It is always SFIT."
While Peter was heading for SFIT, the team was already on their way along with some new gear that Hiro cooked up to be stronger and denser than their previous suits. It would cause them to be slower, but it would also make them stronger and harder to grab and toss around like it did last time. When they arrived at the scene, they waited out at the party for the monster to appear.
They didn't have to wait long as the creature started to make his way for the tent and was met with the heroes coming to stop it. Wasabi was first as he used his new blades to block an oncoming strike from the monstrous Knox monster. But while Wasabi was amazed by the armor, it bought Knox time to charge and smash Wasabi down. While was knocked down, Fred came in and jumped on his head while GoGo, Teresa, and Honey started to clear the place out.
Peni charged and smashed into the back of the monster and smashed it against the ground. "I got it!" Then Orso grabbed Peni and tossed her into the tent. "I don't got it!"
Orso marched into the tent and saw Teresa who aimed her guns at him. "Mr. Knox, we're here to help," Honey tells him.
"You think he understands us?" Teresa asks. "I went over this once with the Lizard."
Knox didn't seem to be listening as he went into attack mode. When he went to grab the girls, Peter came in while holding the monster's arms back with his Symbiote tentacles. "Not this time!" He cried as he then used several more Symbiote tentacles to latch to the ground and keep him in place. "You are staying right here!"
Baymax then came flying with Wasabi using his lasers to cut off the roof of the tent while Honey, Teresa, and Gogo were confusing the monster to keep it off of Peter. When They finished cutting off the roof of the tent, Peter leaped off and yanked the girls out of the tent where he then used his Symbiote webbing to wrap up the monster to keep it from escaping. To make sure it wasn't going anywhere, Honey shot a few more chemballs to keep it from escaping once more.
"Okay...that has to be enough." Teresa sighed as she landed. "I mean, after all of that, there is no way-"
Then Orso broke out of the chemball contraption, as well as the Symbiote webbing. Spotting Liv, the monster leaped over to go towards her for some reason and roared in her face. But then it fell over for some reason as they noticed that there were a few of Karmi's patches on its back.
"Extradermal nano-receptor! I administered a sedative." Karmi explains what happened. When the monster started to wake back up, Karmi added more on top of it as Hiro approached her. "Thought maybe you could use the help."
"Uh, thanks!" Hiro guessed.
"See? This is exactly the kind of thinking that's getting your project funded." Liv stated as she caressed the monster who was now sound asleep.
"Funded?" Hiro almost let it get to him again. "I mean... good for you."
"Props on your armor, Big Hiro 9." Liv complimented as she looked over their armor. "Excellent mech work. Not in my area of experience, but I am impressed." She then came across Peter and looked over his outfit. "And yours most of all. What is that material?"
"Classified secret," Peter replied.
"Smart." Liv guessed. "It is an impressive material."
"So, what's your plan with him?" Peni asks from within the mech, lightly kicking Knox.
"There's a secure genetics lab at Sycorax." Liv offered to them. "If anyone can help him, my team can." Little did they know this was the same woman who was still holding Curtis Connors.
"I will help you transport him to the lab." Baymax offered as he started to drag the creature.
"Yeah, I'll get the back end." Peni offered her assistance as the mech picked up one end.
"You know, Karmi, you did a super job out there." Hiro complimented her.
"I love you, too!" Karmi cried, confusing Hiro.
"What?"
"What?"
"I...gotta go!" Hiro cried as he ran for Baymax.
"Karmi!" Someone new cried as he ran over and hugged the young girl. "Oh, I heard that the creature was heading for your school and I got here as fast as I could."
"Uncle Rick, I'm fine," Karmi promised. "It was because of me that we managed to stop it."
"Is that so?" Rick asked, eyeing the remaining heroes who were still around. "Hey, Rick Lawson, Karmi's uncle."
"Hi." Honey greeted him.
Peter looked at Rick and felt like he'd known the guy from somewhere. "Have we met before?"
Rick chuckled as he walked over to Spider-Man and extended his hand to shake. "I'm sure I would remember if I ever met Spider-Man."
"You'd be surprised," Peter murmured.
Peter had an odd feeling that he had met the stranger before, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it. He decided to play it safe and shook the man's hand before abruptly turning away and taking off into the sky. Teresa had been observing Peter's behavior and was now growing increasingly worried. She couldn't shake the feeling that something was off with him. The suit that he had been wearing only added to her suspicions. She knew that she needed to talk to Baymax as soon as possible to find out if something was going on with Peter. Perhaps he could use his scanning abilities to shed some light on the situation.
