I found Rath reading one of his books after his rest and I smiled to myself, a weight lifted from my shoulders as I walked over to him. But as I put a hand on his left shoulder his head jerked up and I blinked as he spun around so fast the book he'd been studying slipped from his grip. Rath tried to snatch the book out of midair but when he failed I quickly caught it in both hands before it could hit the floor.

"Rath, that was close." I pointed out, holding the book between my hands and he just shook his head once he realized that the book was undamaged. "I thought you'd catch it."

"Well it appears I did not, Jade now please hand it back to me. I need it for my research." Rath grumbled and I just grinned, handing it back. Once he set it down I watched on interest as he flicked through it with a slight frown on his face. "Now where was I?" He muttered not noticing that I was still looking at him until I cleared my throat.

"You were on the page with the hieroglyphics," I told him and he nodded, turning back though after a few seconds passed he turned back to see me grinning at him.

"They all have hieroglyphics on them, Jade," Rath answered and I giggled at the blank stare he gave me. "Would it be rude of me to ask you to leave me to my studies?" He asked and I blinked, a little shocked when he turned his back on me. Shaking my head I walked back to the table and as I slumped into it Nefer-Tina shook her head at the wizard.

"That was a little rude, Rath." She called out but Rath either didn't hear her or was ignoring the only other female mummy in our group.

"We were enjoying ourselves during our date but now?" I let out a breath I didn't need, rubbing my eyes for several minutes. "Scarab ruined our date not me so why is Rath so mad at me?"

"Jade, he's not mad at you but something's not right," Ja-Kal assured me, sparring with Armon right now and I just shrugged still not convinced as he managed to throw Armon across the room. Despite the loud thud I didn't even flinch used to the mummies' sparring after a few days.

"I saw him writing something down earlier but he kept scratching it out," Presley told me as I looked back at Rath, the wizard rubbing at the bridge of his nose.

"When Rath was showing me the book with the gods and goddesses of Eyqpt in it he kept having trouble naming them," I told them once I was sure Rath wasn't paying us the slightest attention. "I know how strange that sounds but it's true." I insisted with a frown when I heard several chuckles from my friends.

"That's not possible, Jade. Rath was Prince Rapses' teacher in Egypt." Ja-Kal pointed out and I rolled my eyes, pushing myself up from the table. With my shoulders hunched I headed for my sarcophagus spending several minutes dressing in my disguise before I hurried towards the doorway intending on making my way outside. I was only stopped by a hand on my shoulder and I turned around to find Nefer-Tina staring at me with a thin smile on her face.

"Jade, there is something wrong with Rath but you know how proud he is," Nefer-Tina told me as I adjusted my jacket not meeting her eyes until she gave my shoulder a light squeeze.

"Sadly yes I do. Rath hasn't been acting right ever since we fought with Scarab in the park." I pointed out and she nodded, both of us looking towards Rath when he cleared his throat loud enough to get our attention.

"Would you two mind not talk about me behind my back? It is rather rude." Rath complained, returning to his studies as soon as I opened my mouth and chewed my lip, unable to stop my lower lip from quivering.

"Fine, Rath. I'll leave you to your studies." I snapped, loud enough for everyone to hear before I hurried towards the front entrance shaking my head at how horrible my boyfriend was being right now.

Not the first fight we've had so far and probably not the last if Rath's going to be so snippy with me. Makes me wonder if he's always been like this and I just didn't see it.

With those happy thoughts in my head, I walked closer to the entrance unaware that Rath was having similar thoughts as he tried to return his attention back to his work.

"For Ra's sake why does this keep happening?" Rath exclaimed, wiping foam from his face before he narrowed his eyes at the flash in his left hand. "There must be something wrong with these instructions." He added, setting down the flask.

"Rath, why did you have to speak that way to Jade? She's trying to help you and all you can do is talk down to her." Nefer-Tina scolded and Rath blinked, staring at her until Nefer-Tina rolled her eyes at him. "Since you snapped at Jade she stormed out and I seriously doubt you can fix this now."

"Jade? I was just trying to work and she kept interrupting me. How is that my fault?" Rath asked, rubbing at the bridge of his nose when Nefer-Tian threw up her hands walking over to Armon and Ja-Kal instead of answering him. "I may have been a little harsh but I was trying to work." He muttered, wondering why Jade had walked out like that. After two more attempts he managed to get the result he wanted from his potion experiment and he grinned, turning to call Jade over to show her until he remembered that she'd stormed out. Putting down the flask he walked over to the television set once he saw Armon, Ja-Kal, and Nefer-Tina watching the weather report.

"Has Jade returned yet?" He asked, getting three head shakes as an answer. "Jade usually doesn't stay away from this long unless she's upset." He muttered, unaware that everyone was watching him.

"Well of course she hasn't come back, Rath. After the way you snapped at her she's probably wandering San Francisco upset and alone." Nefer-Tina pointed out and Rath sighed, looking over at the doorway with a frown on his face. "Maybe you could take the Jet-Cycle out and find her?"

"The only problem with that suggestion is that I don't know where to begin looking. Still, I usually find her in the park or at the museum so I'll try there first." Rath said, heading to grab his disguise before he set out.

Right now I was wandering the museum trying to think of anything except Rath but as I walked around everything reminded me of him.

"Probably should have picked something else that wasn't Egyptian related," I muttered, not caring if anyone nearby heard me. I did notice a few odd stares but that may have been due to my bandages. "Why is he so mad at me? I'm only trying to help Rath so why can't he see that?"

Pushing my hands into the pockets of my jeans I started to head back to the sphinx but I'd barely walked a couple of feet when I bumped into someone. "Geeze I'm sorry about that. Not watching where I was going." I apologized, looking up when the person I'd bumped into offered their hand. Once I saw the bandages and the familiar green eyes I frowned looking at Rath who gave me a tiny smile. I allowed him to help me back to my feet though once he released my hand I crossed my arms.

"Yes, I believe I deserve that, Jade but I did not follow you. I just happened to be passing this way when I bumped into you." Rath explained, scratching the bridge of his nose when I continued to stare at him. "We should continue this conversation without so many eavesdroppers." He added, noting with a grimace that several people were watching us.

Once we stepped outside Rath watched as I raised an eyebrow at him, waiting as patiently as I could for Rath to apologize but when he remained silent I sighed. "Okay, Rath why are you here? Come to apologize to me for being so hard on me?" I asked him and he blinked, rubbing at his eyes for several seconds.

"Jade, I went looking for you to...I wanted to say..." Rath trailed off, blinking when I stared at him. "Sorry I seem to have lost my train of thought. What were we discussing?" He asked me and I shook my head, grasping Rath's right hand before he could think of a response.

"Rath, I know there's something wrong with you when you can't even hold a conversation for more than five seconds," I replied, dragging the protesting mummy back to the sphinx.
