Ch 12 The Ruins of the Mountains
A loud explosion caught Ritsuka's attention, a large light both red and one faded blue caused him and everyone to look behind. "Mordred must release her Noble Phantasm on Aniki." The Magus commented.
"Fou…" The Beast frowns, seeing Ritsuka being upset with how things are with his Brother.
Naofumi looks back, also seeing a fading light along with the red beam. "And that other light got to be, Motoyasu." The Shielder stated. "Typical of a hardass, the Brat really got that Idiot preoccupied."
"Sir Naofumi, master, it's not the best time to ponder on who won in that bout," Arthur said, looking at the two black-haired men. "We still have a treacherous path ahead of us." The King of Knights informed the two.
Ritsuka looks at Naofumi, nodding at what the Saber said. "Alright, let's get going, Iwatani." He said,
Naofumi nodded, walking beside the Magus from the Stars as they treaded up the Mountain to their destination.
At the foot of the Mountain, the Battle between Mordred and Motoyasu left scars around them. Though not as massive as Barghest's Noble Phantasm, it's still massive.
Mordred gasps, leaning on her Clarent after releasing her Noble Phantasm. "Tch, the hell? I thought you Heroic Knights were weak as shit!?"' The Knight of Rebellion asked, seeing the blonde Idiot laying down on the ravaged ground.
"Gotta admit, I didn't expect your Noble Phantasm to be on par with mine." Mordred stood up, placing Clarent on her shoulders.
The Knight looks around her, seeing Heroic Knight Lancelot's Party all unconscious on the ground. Mordred lifts her Sword, seeing her job was done here. "Well, I wouldn't expect much from a dumbass like you," Mordred turns around, walking towards the direction where the rest of the group went.
"Tch, to think this Bastard has the gall to say those things." Mordred clicked her tongue, walking away from the Heroic Knight. "I don't get it…why did master view this Idiot as a Brother." She walks away, leaving the Party as it was.
Unbeknownst to the Knight of Treachery, Motoyasu's hand twitched as a dark aura engulfed his body.
Mordred sensed a strong Magical Energy burst coming from behind her. "W-What the-" A flash came at her, roaring in the air.
Continuing their way to the Ruins, the group was still walking on the Mountain side. They made their way through the rocky path,
"This Mountain path is long; I was expecting we would be at our destination by now," Melty said, looking around the Mountainside. She gazes over to the edge of the Mountain, seeing how much they have made so far.
"Mel-chan, be careful." Filo looks at the Second Princess, seeing her near the edge.
Saber of the Heroes Partisan frowns, placing his hand on his side. "Alright, I have to say it. Is it me or is the Mountain getting longer?" The Saber asked the group,
Arthur took the moment to look around, "I'm not sure, yes the path may look long but…" He walks over to the rocky wall, touching it he could tell that something was off. "Lady Raphtalia, Arturia can you come here for a second?"
"Huh?" Castoria looks at the auburn Demi-Human, curious about what Arthur was on about.
"Is there something there, Saber-san?" Raphtalia asked the blonde King.
The Saber turns to the rocky wall, stepping aside for the Magic User. "I'm not too sure, but I feel like we're in an illusion of some kind," Arthur said,
Castoria approaches the wall, using her Magecraft to detect any Illusion Magecraft. "Oh, I recognize this Magecraft," She said, turning to Raphtalia, requiring her assistance. "Raphtalia, can you help here?"
"Oh, sure thing Arturia-san." Raphtalia stood next to the Child of Prophecy, both stood before the wall where Arthur asked them to.
Using Magecraft and analyzing the wall, Castoria gave a little boost to Raphtalia's Spell. "Alright, I have added a few support Spells to help reveal the Illusion," Castoria explains, her Staff of Selection glowing with the Spell she's casting.
Raphtalia looks at the Child of Prophecy, wondering what she has to do. "Um, what should I do, Arturia-san?" The Demi-Human asked,
"Just use your Light Spell like the last time," Castoria said,
"Understood." Raphtalia took a deep breath and shut her eyes, holding her hands at the rocky wall.
Everyone watched as a small light appeared in the Auburn Demi-Human's palms. "As source of my power, I order thee. Decipher the laws of Nature and illuminate…my surroundings!" She opens her eyes as her enhanced Light Spell brightens the area. "Fast Light!"
The blinding light illuminates the area, many shut their eyes due to the brightness.
Raphtalia closes her eyes before hearing something. "You hold the power of Light. Come to me." She opens her eyes as her Spell dims. "W-Who just-"
"Raphtalia Onee-san, you were amazing!" Filo exclaims, never seeing her do something like it before. "That was the brightest Light Filo ever seen!"
"Indeed, your Magical Energy has increased even without Arturia supporting you." Da Vinci spoke, sensing the spike in her Mana.
Naofumi was skeptical, never seeing this before in Raphtalia. "Are you feeling, alright Raphtalia?" He asked, worried about his Companion.
Raphtalia merely smiles, nodding to comfort her master. "Yes, I am, Naofumi-sama, there's nothing to worry about." She said before Ritsuka stepped forward.
"I wouldn't say that Raphtalia," Ritsuka said, looking ahead of them.
Everyone looks before them, the rocky wall that was there is gone. Now it was replaced by an ominous path leading upward, covered by black haze. (Insert FGO - Cosmos In The Lostbelt - Avalon La Fae: Burning Picture Book ~ Knight Battle of Londinium)
Galahad frowns, not liking the dark feeling he was having when he gazes at the path. "I don't like this; the path has a dark aura within it." The Shielder said,
Castoria also felt the dark aura from the haze, "It's similar to Cernunnos's Curse but it's different at the same time." She stated, feeling a familiarity with the haze.
"Whatever it is, the Piece is within it. Regardless of the haze, we have to retrieve it." Ritsuka said, looking at everyone if they disagree.
Arthur nodded, "Agree, let's be careful moving forward; if that haze means anything then there might be strong Enemies going forward." He stated, looking at the path ahead of them. "Be prepared."
Everyone nodded, heading up the hazy Mountain path, pushing through the miasma.
The group continued their way across the path, their vision was cloudy due to the haze. "Okay, I have to ask, what's with this haze? Mountains don't usually have these." Ritsuka said, staying close to Arthur as they continued their way. "Or is it just how this World works?"
"I don't know too, the only time this happened is when we fought that Dragon Zombie on the other side of Melromarc," Naofumi said, having never seen this much miasma building up. "My only question is why we aren't affected by the miasma around us."
"Good question, Naofumi-sama. I know the Servants don't get affected by this miasma, but I don't get why we aren't." Melty said, knowing by now their Bodies will give in due to the miasma.
Castoria smiles, raising her glowing Staff. "That's because I have placed you all in my protection." She explains, showing the Staff of Selection. "I have an inkling feeling when I first saw the path. So I placed a protective Spell that wards off any Curses and Malice around us."
Arthur chuckles, seeing his other self was thinking straight ahead. "Well done, Arturia."
"Yeah, I knew you ca do it." Naofumi placed his hand on Castoria's hat, causing her to puff her cheeks.
"O-Onii-san!" Castoria whines, not liking how he does that.
Ritsuka and the others chuckle before seeing Da Vinci in a thinking mood. "Da Vinci? Is something the matter?" He asked,
The Technical Head looks at her master, hearing him speak. "Ah, I was wondering about this miasma…" Da Vinci said, taking a look around and noting the dead plants and the lack of creatures around.
Saber of the Heroes Partisan raised his eyebrow, hearing the conversation. "Really? What about it?" He asked as everyone listens to her.
"It's weird, usually when you have miasma this thick and large, it comes with a rotting corpse." Da Vinci explains to the group before hearing roars.
They paused, looking up to see…Skeletal Dragons perched on the rocky cliffs. "Everyone get back!" Arthur announced, having everyone backed up against the rocky wall.
One of the Skeletal Dragons turned its head, seeing nothing on the path below.
Raphtalia gazes upward, scouting if they're still looking. "What do you see, Lady Raphtalia?" Arthur asked, not having a good view of things.
She crouches down, looking at the peak. "There are at least two perched on the cliffside. However, that's all I could see." Raphtalia inform the King of Knights of what was above them. "I'm sorry I can't be any more help,"
"I see…no, it's fine." Arthur looks at his master and the group, "It's hard to determine just how many are up there,"
"And you don't want to risk gaining their attention if it's a horde," Ritsuka said understanding where his Servant was going.
The green-haired Saber commented, agreeing with the King's plan. "I agree, we don't know how many are up there." Saber of the Heroes Partisan advises the group,
Naofumi turns to Ritsuka, "So, what's the move here, Fujimaru?" He asked the Magus from the Stars for his opinion.
Ritsuka gazes up at the cliff, seeing the tips of the Skeletal Dragons' snout. "If we can't see how many Enemies are there, then it's best to avoid them as possible." He stated, sharing his thoughts on their current situation.
"Alrighty then, it's an evasion tactic." Da Vinci said, materializing her Staff. "I something that should work in this precise situation." The Caster raised her Staff, glowing faintly before casting a ball of light in the air.
Everyone watched as the ball of light was tossed to the side of the Skeletal Dragons. They heard roars of about ten or fifteen chasing the ball.
"I could hear at least ten or fifteen Dragons from their roar," Galahad spoke, listening as their roar got farther away from them.
Saber of the Heroes Partisan shook his head, "No, I at least heard around thirty or so." The green-haired Servant said, "But they all seem to have taken the bait."
Filo looks at the Servant, curious how Saber knows about it. "Wow, Filo's curious how do you know, Saber-san?" The blonde Filoial asked the Servant.
The Saber smiles, raising his finger. "That's because I have a Dragon trait, even though I don't have anything linking me to an actual Dragon." The green-haired Saber said, "But People do refer to me as a Dragon due to my appearance and how I fight just like one."
"A Dragon trait, even if he doesn't have any relation to any Dragons…" Ritsuka said to himself, comparing Saber to every Person in History he read, leading to one Person. "Ah,"
"Fujimaru? What is it?" Saber asked, now on friendly terms with the master of Chaldea.
Ritsuka shook his head at Saber's question. "It's nothing, let's continue our way." The group quickly evades the Skeletal Dragons, now entering a small plateau.
The haze was thicker than the one at the foot of the Mountain. It was hard to see what was in front of them.
The King of Knights lead the way, and soon they encountered a sight that no one expected. "Um…master, you need to see this…" Arthur called for his master, wanting him to see what was ahead of them.
"Huh? What is it…Sa…ber…" Ritsuka trails off, seeing something he didn't expect.
There right before them, laying on the ground was a Skeleton of a large Dragon. But it's not any other Dragon,
"H-How is it…she…" Castoria blinks, also shocked by the sight before them. "I know we're in a different Timeline but…can it really be the same?" The Lostbelt Servant asked,
"Believe it or not Arturia…it is possible since this World is similar to any other World in Proper Human History." Da Vinci said, seeing the Skeleton was in the realm of possibility.
Melty looks at the large dead Dragon, wondering why the Chaldeans were shocked about it. "What's special about this Dragon?" She asked, "We've seen many dead Dragons before, but never this large, (Which is why you're all shock…)" She commented.
Naofumi crossed his arms, seeing the dead Dragon. "So…what's speaking about this Dragon?"
Galahad turns to his fellow Shielder, "This Dragon Skeleton, it exists in our World as well."
"Wait, you're telling me that this Dragon existed in our World too!?" Naofumi said, shocked to hear there were Dragons once lived in their World. "How come no-wait…ah, never mind." He sighs, realizing there was evidence in History that Dragons did exist.
"If those Myth and Legends are true and this World is similar to ours then it's possible that Dragons once existed in our World," Naofumi said, not doubting for a moment that their World was filled with Dragons at one point.
Ritsuka nodded, confirming what the Knight of Revelation said was true. "Yes, but this one definitely exists in every World," He stated, now taking a good look at the Fossilize Dragon Skeleton. It lay there, its claws in a position like it was trying to dig somewhere.
"This Fossil, the Dragon Skeleton is known in the Magecraft World. The Last Pureblooded Dragon, Albion." Ritsuka informed the Shielder about the well-known Dragon to Mages. "The Dragon who failed to return to Paradise."
"The Inner Sea of the Planet, Avalon." Ritsuka continued in turn, and Raphtalia spoke.
"Avalon? The Inner Sea of the Planet?" Raphtalia asked, curious where in the World that is. She looks at the Fossilized Dragon, "So, this is Albion? Um…you said that Albion tried to dig its way to Paradise, right?" The Demi-Human asked the master of Chaldea.
Ritsuka nodded, confirming what the auburn-haired Demi-Human said. "That's right, why you asked?" The black-haired Magus asked Raphtalia.
Raphtalia looks around her, noticing some questionable parts of this sight. "Then how come the Skeleton of Albion's here and not below ground?" She asked, pointing out the major element in their area.
"Huh? Whateve-" Da Vinci paused, now understanding the line of questioning Raphtalia gave. "Raphtalia's right…Albion's Skeleton shouldn't be up on the surface of the Planet. It should be eighty kilometers down beneath the Earth!" The Caster exclaims,
The Chaldeans were sharing the same shock as the Renaissance Woman. Naofumi and Melty understood why Ritsuka and the others were shocked. "Alright, I get that you're all shocked by a Dragon that was supposed to be eighty kilometers below us; but remember what we're meant to do here in the first place," Naofumi said,
Galahad agrees with his fellow Shielder "Sir Naofumi's right, we can discuss the remains of Albion later; for now, let's find these Ruins located here." The Knight of Heaven supported what Naofumi said.
Ritsuka nodded, seeing the Fossil of Albion can be discussed later. "You're right, let's go, everyone.
The group continued on their way, walking past the Fossilized head of the Last Pureblooded Dragon. Ritsuka couldn't help but wince at the sight of it, "Master? Are you alright?" Arthur asked, noticing the expression the Magus had on his face.
"It's nothing, Saber," Ritsuka said, not wanting his Servant to worry. "Come on, everyone is on the other side of the path." The master of Chaldea and the King of Knights quickly headed to join the others.
Back down at the mountain, Mordred gasps, leaning on Clarent after that surprise attack from Heroic Knight Lancelot. "ACK, damnit! I thought I had him knocked out…" The Knight of Rebellion growls, she then saw the footprints heading up the Mountain.
"Tch, shit he's after master and the others." Mordred growls before looking at Heroic Knight Lancelot Party, still unconscious. "I better make this quick," She got up, grabbing some vines that were next to her.
Up the Mountain path, Motoyasu staggers forward, "Ritsuka…Ritsuka…Ritsuka…" The name of his Brother's name was all that he could say. His pupils shrunk, all that was in his mind was getting to Ritsuka and nothing else. "M-Must…get…t-to….R-Ritsuka…"
'Such determination, such devotion to your Brother.' A familiar voice spoke in the mindscape of Motoyasu. 'However, your relation to the Chaldean master means nothing to me. But it'll be fun messing with his only Family here.'
Motoyasu growls and a dark aura surrounds the Heroic Knight. "G-GAK!" He grips his head, his body curls up on the ground as pain travels through his body. "GAH! GAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
The Heroic Knight cried in pain as his clothes burn away by the aura. The black aura replaced the clothes he wore with dark armor. His legs and arms were covered in dark armor, his ponytail unraveled, and letting his hair down.
The armor reached to the side of his abdomen and chest, leaving his bare chest. A black collar wraps around his neck with six strands tipped with sharp spears that act like a cape. His eyes turned red as a helmet visor covered his eyes and his hair turned to a pale color.
His Arondight Spear turned black with the center a blood red coloration. (Sakura Lancelot armor)
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Heroic Knight Lancelot roars, similar to a Dragon's roar echoes in the air.
"RITSUKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
Heading to the top, the group finally made it to the Ruins. "So…this is the Ruins the Piece is…" Ritsuka said, looking around the Ruins.
The Chaldeans and Shield Hero Party stood before two stone pillars that were once an archway. The ground was covered with old bricks and right in front of them was a large altar and stairs leading up to it.
"Ah, that must be where the Piece of Rhyongomyniad lies in wait." Saber of the Heroes Partisan points to the altar.
Ritsuka nodded, treading forward. "Then let's go and retrieve it." He said, walking to the altar with everyone.
Melty looks around the Ruins, surprised to see such a thing was here on the Mountain. "I never knew that these Ruins were here. It's amazing to look at." The Second Princess steps away, looking at the old walls that were in shambles.
Filo stood next to Melty, looking at the walls before noticing the wall had pictures. "Oh! There are pictures here!" The Filoial informed the others of what she found. "Filo doesn't know what they mean though."
The Second Princess looks at the mural, trying to decipher what it means. "I-I'm not sure what is either," Melty said, looking at the subtext that the mural has underneath. "It's in a language I've never seen before." She added.
"Allow me, Princess, I'm very in-depth with Languages." Da Vinci said proudly, walking to the mural. "My, what an interesting mural…"
The mural was old, around Fifteen hundred years old. It was a picture of a Dragon flying over an Island and a swirl above it.
Galahad steps forward, curious about what the mural entails. "What does it say, Da Vinci?" The Shielder asked,
The Caster blinks, reading the subtext. "It's old English; how interesting…give me a second…" Da Vinci said, supporting the claim that Human History diverges during the Fifth Century.
The group turns their attention to Da Vinci as she reads the text.
"…Only when dusk falls, the Land will die, and Primordial Calamity will rise, for the Black Dragon shall escape and consume the Worlds where Reality is weakest. A Knight who failed once shall be reborn, one with the heart of a Lion and the charisma of a King shall rectify thy mistake."
"What does that mean?" Naofumi asked, unsure what it was they just heard.
The Caster crossed her arms, taking the context written on the subtext. "It's a Prophecy," Da Vinci said before continuing. "It's a continuation to the Prophecy of the Stars,"
Melty turns to the Caster Servant, surprised to hear there was a continuation of the original Prophecy. "I-I didn't realize there was a continuation to the Prophecy of the Stars." The Second Princess commented.
"I'm wondering, how did this part of the Prophecy didn't make it to the People?" Castoria asked, "Even the Citizens of the Capital and beyond know about it." The Lostbelt Servant commented,
Ritsuka shrugs, shaking his head. "Maybe someone has left this part away from the People. Only for the right People to see," He commented, still believing it's this World's Magus of the Flowers left behind.
Arthur couldn't help but chuckle, this has Merlin written all over it. "It has her name written all over it…" The King of Knights commented before hearing a roar from a distance,
The Saber turns to the altar, "We better retrieve that Piece before we encounter something that would appear." The King of Knights suggested the group.
"I agree, I got this…feeling that something is coming." Saber of the Heroes Partisan said, feeling a Dark presence that just appeared out of nowhere.
Ritsuka nodded, turning to the altar. "Okay, let's get that Piece."
