Adam exhales upon entering Max's penthouse, relieved to finally be done with travel for a few days. He peeks into the living room and smiles, making his way over to where Max is standing with Piper, staring out at the pale grey clouds blanketing the skyline. "Hey," he says, kissing him on the side of the face.
"Hey," Max greets him, lips twitching up as he turns to look at him. "How are you?"
"Hanging in there." Adam lazily runs his fingers through Max's hair. "I'll be back in a couple minutes, just gotta look through this really quickly." He lifts up a manila envelope and shrugs when Max glances at it curiously.
"Ok," Max murmurs, setting Piper on the floor when she squirms around in his arms, clearly wanting to get down to follow Adam.
Adam's careful as he moves down the hall, watching for her around his crutches as he goes. He leaves his luggage by the closet and drops the envelope on the bed, relieved to sit down for a minute before dumping its contents out on the sheets. He stretches his leg out with a sigh, propping it up on the stack of pillows Max always leaves for him before rustling through the papers that AEW had sent home with him. Rehab reminders for the coming week, travel information, random other things.
He's about to stack it all back up and leave it by the bedside table, head back out to spend some time with Max, when he notices Piper batting at something. "Hey," he says, reaching out and tapping her paw. "What are you doing? Huh?"
She tilts her head, flexing her paw at him, and Adam smiles a little, trapping the sleak paper under her paw, carefully tugging it free. "Don't tear it," he chides her gently, finally getting it free and turning it over to look at it. "What the?" he chuckles, realizing that it's a prototype for a Valentine's Day sticker of his.
He doesn't often get previews of merchandise like this, just a quick email about shirt designs to get his approval at the most. He glances at Piper and taps her on the nose lightly with it, chuckling at the annoyed look on her face as she goes crosseyed trying to focus on the sticker. Adam gingerly eases his leg back down and collects his crutches, working back up onto his feet carefully. She's following again, he can hear her lightly padding behind him as he makes his way back to the living room.
Max has sat down while he was gone, head resting on his fist as he listlessly channel surfs. His eyes brighten a bit when he sees Adam and Piper return, smiling up at him as Adam joins him on the couch. "Anything interesting?" he asks, turning towards him.
"Eh," Adam shrugs. "The usual- rehab, travel, etc etc." He pauses. "There was this, though. You might have to fight Piper over it, she seemed pretty enamored with it." He presses the sticker into Max's hand and Max glances at him, briefly searching his face, before staring down at it.
"Oh," he huffs out a laugh. "I can see why." He rubs his thumb over the sticker, looking up at Adam. "All mine, huh?"
Adam smiles. "Always."
Max's smile grows as he leans in and kisses Adam, lingering into it for a few moments. "I like the sound of that."
"Me too," Adam murmurs, resting his forehead against Max's.
