The Original Order reads Harry Potter Book 1.
Quick Note – Before we head into the chapter, I wanted to make an important announcement and it effects the chapter title.
I'm going to change the title of this chapter from The Boy Who Lived to Prologue (Part Two) because I wanted the Order to not only examine the books and the note that explains what the books are, but I wanted them to get the Tonks family and Narcissa Malfoy. I wasn't just going to write the Order reading the books as soon as they checked it was safe to touch and I didn't want the Tonks family and Narcissa Malfoy join reader after a few Harry Potter chapters. So, the chapter is going to be called Prologue (Part Two)
The next chapter will be The Boy Who Lived, I promise you all. I hope you all can forgive about switching the chapter titles.
But nevertheless, enjoy the chapter.
Chapter Two: Prologue (Part Two)
Previously in the last chapter.
There was a long period of silence in the room, no one found the right words to speak. Actually, no one even had the chance to speak, all because they were still staring at the books that were laying on the table with shock expressions on their faces. Eventually, it was James who broke the long period of silence.
"You were saying, Li-flower?" James asked in an amused, yet shock, tone. "About a pair of books not appearing on the table and telling us You-Know-Who's secrets?"
Lily didn't have the heart to send a snappy retort back at her husband because she was shocked from seeing a set of books appearing from thin air. Her eyes were comically wide, and she looked like a gaping fish. However, she did manage to get her mind straighten out to say two and two words only.
"Shut up."
(In the Present)
"Are we just going to continue gawking at the books or are we going to pick them up?" Sirius asked, getting tired and impatient from staring at the books that were still laying on the table.
"What if the books are cursed, Black? Don't you know anything about constant vigilance?" Alastor Moody, a very intimidating, mid-twenties man with heavy scars on his face, asked with annoyance in his voice. He had shoulder-length, grizzled, dark grey hair, pale skin and sharp, small dark eyes.
"Of course, Moody! I'm just saying that-"
"We understand what you're saying, Sirius," Remus interrupted, understanding Sirius's logic. "But we are exercising caution because we don't know where they came from or how they got here."
"Perhaps we should read the note on the books and see what it tells us." Minerva stated, still having her wand pointed at the books. While they did seem harmless, she was not going to drop her guard until they were checked.
"An excellent idea, Minerva." Dumbledore said cheerfully, making the occupants in the room wondered if the Headmaster of Hogwarts was either senile or crazy. Probably both. "But before we can do that, however, we need to check if there aren't any harmful spells or potions on the books and the note. 'We need to err on the side of caution' as the Muggles would say." That last part was earned with confused looks from the Purebloods and a giggle from Lily.
For the next thirty minutes, Dumbledore was waving his wand, the tip of it glowing blue, in complicated movements over the books and the note, muttering lowly under his breath as he moved his wand. He had a look of concentration on his face, and everyone knew better than to bother him when he had such a look on his face.
After a few more minutes, Dumbledore stopped muttering words and pulled his wand away from the books and the note before looking up at the Order. "The books and the note are okay to touch." That statement caused the Order to let out a sigh of relief. "Now, I believe it's time that we read the note and see how important these books are."
Dumbledore reached over to pick the note up from the books and brought back so that he could open it. Once open, he held it in front of him and started to read out loud.
'Dear Original Order of the Phoenix,
If you are reading this letter, then it means the books we made had been transferred into the past. You all may be wondering who we are and how we know about your group, but we cannot answer your questions and time is starting to run out.
There is a reason why we send these books to the past and you are all wondering what the reason is, including why the boy on the book covers looks like James and Lily. The reason why we send these books to the past is because the future is in jeopardy and on the verge of collapsing by Voldemort and his Death Eaters. The Order of the Phoenix in the future, including the British Ministry of Magic, are doing everything they can to stop Voldemort, but it's getting harder because many people, along with Magical Creatures, are joining him and we're losing many magical people. The only way to defeat Voldemort was to send these books to the past and hope the people there can read them. That way, the past can end Voldemort before the death toll gets too high.
These books tell a story about a boy who is destined to defeat Voldemort and bring peace to the Magical World. Not only you will learn about his life, but you will learn about many facts after the First Wizarding War, including Voldemort's secrets. Only reading these books will tell you how to defeat Voldemort and his followers. However, you must read the books in order from book 1 to book 7. If you decide to skip book 2 and read book 3 instead, you will jeopardize the future.
There will be a group of four people joining you as you read the books and these people play an important role in the future. The people who'll be reading with you are the Ted Tonks, Andromeda Tonks, Nymphadora Tonks and Narcissa Malfoy. You all may not trust Narcissa because she is a Malfoy, but like we said before, she plays an important role in the future.
Now that you are aware of what the books are and the reason why we sent them, it's time for you all to start reading. But don't read them in the room you are all in; we have a special room that you all, including the Tonks family and Narcissa Malfoy, can read. Once inside the room, time will stop in the outside world and the doors will be locked. We're doing this because we don't want anyone leaving the room. Wards will put up to prevent anyone Apparating away and changing into their Animagus form.
We hope that you all can change the future of Magical Britain and defeat Voldemort before anymore magical people die. Do not let anyone die!
P.S: There are instructions on the back to show how to get into the special room, but only read it after the Tonks family and Narcissa Malfoy joins you.
From Dumbledore's Army.'
Once Dumbledore finished reading the note, there was another long period of silence in the room once again. Everyone was thinking about the contents of the note with numerous emotions on their faces, such as surprised, bafflement, disbelief and confusion.
"Do you think these books are real or fake?" James asked with doubt in his voice, breaking the long period of silence.
"The books have to be real, James. How else would these people know about the Order of the Phoenix?" Sirius asked the million-dollar question everyone wanted to know: How did these people from the future knew about the Order of the Phoenix?
"Sirius, as much as I want to agree with you, James does have a point." Marlene said, giving her fiancé a sympathy look. "These books have to be fake."
"I don't know, Marlene." Lily countered. "I think these books are real and can tell us about the future. And like Alice said, I want to think about the future."
"Lily, I understand that you want to think about the future, but how can we be so sure that these books are real?" Marlene asked, starting to get irritated by her friend's stubbornness. "Despite a note telling us what they are, it doesn't explain how they got here."
"Did you hit your head or something, woman?" Elphias Doge, an old man with white hair in the back, pale skin and blue eyes, asked with annoyance, getting a glare from Marlene. "The note Albus just read explains what the books are and how important they are. If we read the first book, we can know more about what happens after the war and see how everyone else is doing. I say we read the books."
"I agree with Elphias," Alice seconded, nodding her head. "I am quite curious on learning about the future of the Magical World and this boy who is destined to defeat the Dark Lord." She wasn't the only one curious about the future of the Magical World, nearly everyone in the room was curious about the future of the Magical World.
Well, except one.
"Are you all crazy?!" Marlene exclaimed, throwing her hands up in the air. "We're in the middle of a fucking war! A war we are losing at the moment! And all of you want to sit back and read supposed books that tells us about the future?! Merlin, am I the only one who cares about ending the war?!"
"Marlene, despite what you say, even you want to learn about the future." Lily said with a small hint of smugness in her voice, knowing her friend very well, even though she did agree with Marlene's statement about being in the middle of a war. While it was true the Order needed to focus on the war instead of reading books, they need all the information they can get to defeat Voldemort. "I understand you want to focus on the war, but this will be a great opportunity to learn about the future of the Magical World and to learn Voldemort's secrets."
Any retort Marlene was about to say was immediately silenced when Lily said that last part and it caused the brown-hair woman to become thoughtful. She was going to admit that learning about the future would be nice, since she had talked to Sirius about leaving Magical Britain and traveling around the world after the war was finished but learning about You-Know-Who's secrets would be a huge bonus situation and they, the Order, can finally take the monster down.
"Alright, you got a point, Lily." Marlene said, releasing a huge sigh. "While I'm still thinking this is a crazy idea, I'm not going to pass up if we're going to learn You-Know-Who's secrets. So, I'm in."
"Perfect!" Dumbledore exclaimed cheerfully. "Now that everyone's agreeing with the plan to read the books, we must contact the Tonks family and Narcissa Malfoy. We meet back here in a week. This ends the meeting of the Order of the Phoenix."
"Do we seriously have to contact Narcissa, Albus?" Sirius asked, as everyone got up and was prepared to leave. "Despite what the note says, I don't like the idea of her joining here, nor even trust her. She could be a Death Eater spy."
"I have every faith in myself that Mrs. Malfoy would not report everything we're about to learn to Voldemort," Dumbledore said, ignoring the flinches around the room. "From what I learn during Mrs. Malfoy's school years, she had no intention of being a Death Eater and was planning to become Neutral."
"If you say so, Albus." Sirius said, hoping what Dumbledore said was true before leaving the room with his friends. Everyone else also left the room, not before giving Dumbledore a parting wave or a goodbye, which left the old wizard to be the last one to leave.
'I hope these books can tell us about Voldemort's secrets and how we can defeat him.' Dumbledore thought, giving the ceiling above him a desperate look. 'I don't want any more deaths to happen.'
(Time Skip; One Week Later)
The Order of the Phoenix was back at their headquarters, sitting at the long table as before and in the same spots, but the table was filled with four more people and one of the said four people was looking uncomfortable because of the intense staring. Tension was in the air. They were currently waiting for Dumbledore, who made a habit of being late to the meeting sometimes. The books the Order had seen last week was still lying on the table.
It has been a week since the last Order of the Phoenix meeting, and all the members had been busy with either their jobs, fighting Death Eaters, getting information about the Magical World or trying to contact the Tonks family and Narcissa Malfoy. While it was easy to contact the Tonks family and telling them what was happening, it was Narcissa Malfoy that was hard to get a hold of. The Order couldn't risk sending a letter to her because the said letter could be intercepted by Voldemort, and they couldn't stun her if she was spotted. It would make the Light fraction look like kidnappers, something that would ruin the Light fraction's reputation.
Even though they still couldn't risk of sending a letter, the Order didn't know how to contact Narcissa Malfoy.
However, it seemed lady luck was smiling upon the Order because they received a letter from the woman they were trying to contact. The letter said that she would be waiting in a location where she would be picked up by the Order, would not be armed with anything or having any ambushed and trap set. The Order grew suspicious of this and send their best fighters, namely Alastor Moody and the Prewett twins, to see if Narcissa was telling the truth about what she said. But to their great surprised, she was telling the truth; there wasn't any trap or ambushed set. She was just waiting there to get picked up with no wand upon her.
After getting over their surprised, the Order escort Narcissa Malfoy to their headquarters, then went to go pick up the Tonks family and that is how we find the Order, along with the four people, in this current predicament. As the said predicament continues to unfold, it was also the first time the Order met the Tonks family and Narcissa Malfoy.
Ted Tonks was a tall, well-fitted, young man with short, choppy brown hair, fair skin and brown eyes. He also had a beard, and it was short like his hair. He was dressed in casual Muggle clothes instead of wizard robes, which consisted of a leather, short-sleeve, black jacket with a white long shirt underneath, loose-fitting black jeans and brown shoes.
Andromeda Tonks was a tall, beautiful, young woman with long, slight wavy light brown hair, pale skin and dark brown eyes. Like her husband, she was dressed in casual Muggle clothes, which consisted of a comfortable, long-sleeved, turtleneck blue shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.
Nymphadora Tonks was a clumsy, yet energetic, pale-skin, young girl who looked to be five years old and was eating a sandwich, oblivious to the tension in the room. Due to the fact she was a Metamorphmagus – a rare magical ability that allows the user to change physical appearances - she can change her hair style, eye color, skin tone and hair color with ease like wandless magic but cannot change her body until she grows up. Her chosen hair style was short and messy with a single bang in-between her dark brown eyes and the color of her hair bubble-gum pink.
Nymphadora was dressed in Muggle children's clothes, which consisted of a slightly wrinkled, semi-long purple shirt, black shorts and black and white sandals.
Narcissa Malfoy was a tall, beautiful, willow, young woman with long, blonde hair that was shaped into an elegant bun, pale skin and deep blue eyes that were cold and emotionless. She was dressed in expensive, sliver-trimmed, black robes with a hood. It was she who was looking uncomfortable because of the intense staring.
"Would you all stop staring at Cissy with those distrustful looks?" Andromeda suddenly asked, breaking the tense silence and getting everyone in the room to turned towards her, except her daughter. "You're making her uncomfortable."
"You have to understand, Andi, that this is the first time we're having a person who is married to a Death Eater in our headquarters, and we don't exactly trust her." James tried to reason the dark brown-hair woman. "We're just making sure she gets the message about not calling her 'friend's'." James spat the word 'friend' in a venomous tone.
"Potter, if I wanted everyone in this room dead, I would've rolled up my left sleeve right now and pressed the Dark Mark with my finger." Narcissa drawled in a cold voice, finally speaking for the first time. Her statement caused everyone, except the Tonks family, to whip out their wands out and pointed them at the blonde-hair woman. "But since I am not a Death Eater, I cannot do that."
"You see, guys! I told you!" Sirius shouted with triumph in his voice. "I told you that Narcissa can't be trusted! She would report what we're about to learn to You-Know-Who!"
"That's enough, Sirius." An old voice spoke with authority, and everyone turned around to see Dumbledore standing near the doorframe that leads into the meeting room, wearing a disappointed look on his face. "I must say, everyone, I am disappointed the way you all are treating our guest. We are here to learn about these books we're about to read, not start a fight."
Dumbledore's words had not only caused the Order of the Phoenix to lower their wands but their heads as well. They looked like children being scolded by parents, as if they had done something they weren't supposed to do. The action caused a sneer to spread across Narcissa's face. She knew what the Order of the Phoenix was, thanks to her older sister who would go on and on about them and can instantly tell why the Dark Lord doesn't take the group very seriously. The Order are not fighters or brave people, they are just naïve and scared children.
"Now that we got the unpleasantness out of the way," Dumbledore said, casting another disappointed look at the Order, making the group lower their heads even further. "It is time for us to head towards this special place and read the books. Let me read the instructions real quick." Dumbledore reached into his robes, pulled out the note he read last week, straighten it out and turn the paper over to look at the instructions. After a few minutes, Dumbledore memorized the instructions in his mind and put the note away. "Okay, there are three steps in total, and they are easy to do. The first step is to gather around in a circle and hold hands. Everyone, stand up and hold hands."
Everyone in the room stood up from their seats and gathered around in a circle before taking each other's hands. It took a bit longer since Narcissa point-blank refused to touch one of the Order's hands, something that insulted the Order, but she did take her older sister's hand and her niece's hand in the end.
"What's the next step?" James asked, turning to look at Dumbledore.
"The next step is to transport the books to the special place." Dumbledore replied. "Luckily for us, we don't have to hold them while holding hands. I just need to say the phrase for the books, and they would be transported." Dumbledore cleared his throat before saying the phrase for the books. "Wit beyond measure is the man's greatest treasure."
For a moment, everyone in the room thought the phrase Dumbledore said wouldn't work on the books, but to their surprised and shock, the books on the table disappeared in a flash of light.
"Well, at least the phrase work." Sirius said with a bit of numbness in his voice, still staring at the spot where the books previously were. His statement was earned with numb nods from everyone around the room, except Dumbledore, who seemed fascinated by this but didn't had time to think about it because they had a mission to do.
"Alright, the last step is to say this phrase all together. It has to be said in a loud and clear tone and we have to keep holding hands, otherwise the phrase won't work" Dumbledore explained, causing everyone to get out of their numb state and listen raptly at the old wizard. "The phrase is 'The last enemy that shall be destroyed is Death'."
"What does it mean, Dumbledore?" Lily asked with a confused frown on her face. Everyone in the room was confused by that phrase. What did it mean?
"I'm not sure, Lily." Dumbledore replied, also having a confused frown on his face. "But the answer to your question might be in one of the books. Now, did everyone remember the phrase?" Everyone nodded their heads and mentally prepared themselves for a transport journey they're about to commence. "Good, then let's say the phrase on the count of three. One. Two. Three."
"The last enemy that shall be destroyed is Death!" Everyone in the room said the phrase in a loud and clear voice.
As soon as everyone said the phrase, the entire room was engulfed by a bright flash of light, making everyone to tightly close their eyes but not letting go of each other's hands. The bright flash of light grew brighter and intense before it suddenly disappeared, as if a switch was being turned off. However, when the flash of light ended, there was a very important fact.
Everyone in the meeting room was gone.
Even though I said this at the beginning of the chapter, I want to say sorry about switching the chapter titles when you all were expecting the first chapter of Harry Potter. The next chapter will be about the first chapter of Harry Potter. You have my word.
