Thank you for giving this fanfic a chance!

This is my first fanfic, but it isn't the first story I've written. Constructive criticism is welcome, but insults and bigotry are not.

This fanfic will get dark; you've been warned.

Izuku does not have a Dragon Quirk, but we'll get into what his quirk is in a minute.

No one expected Ryuko Tatsuma to have a family, let alone a brother. And definitely no one expected him to have a family. But that's exactly who Hisashi Midoriya was.

Trigger Warning: Bullying that borders Abuse

Chapter 1

The day was July 15th and we open in a small apartment. Midoriya Inko is singing in the kitchen and a Midoriya Hisahsi is reading a newspaper at the table. Inko is a short, slightly chubby, greenette with beautiful emerald green eyes. Hisashi is a tall lean noirette with deep amber eyes.

Then a tiny, energetic ball of green and black hair barrels into the living room shouting, "It's my fourth birthday!"

Hisashi chuckles and folds up his newspaper, setting it down on the table and saying, "It sure is, my little one."

"Can we go to the doctor today?" the little one begs. "Please." Inko finishes what she was doing in the kitchen and brings out three plates of breakfast.

She answers, "Eat your breakfast and get changed first, Izuku; then we can go get your quirk tested." Izuku hops into his seat at the table and picks up his chopsticks while saying, "Okay, Mom."

30 minutes and an empty plate later the Midoriya family is heading out the door. They walk the five minutes it takes to get to the doctor's office and head inside. Hisashi heads to the front desk and gets the secretary's attention.

"Ma'am, ma'am." The secretary turns her head and motions him over. She asks, "What do you need sir?"

"I'm here to have my son's quirks tested." She handed him a clipboard with a pen and a sign-in sheet, instructing him to fill it out and that the doctor would be available in about 30 minutes.

Hisashi heads over to his family and sits next to Izuku and starts to fill out the form. Izuku leans over to look at the clipboard and asks, "What are you doing Daddy?"

Hisashi responded with, "I'm filling out your medical information, my little one, so they can test your quirk."

Izuku leans back over into his seat and then mumbles to himself, "I wonder what quirk I'll have. Will it be firebreathing like Dad or it could be telekinesis from mom. I could even get a combination of the two. There's also the possibility that Igetamutationanditscompletlydiffrentfrom-"

Inko interrupts him, "Darling, you need to breathe in between words."

Izuku blushed and rubbed the back of his neck as he said, "Thank you, Mom."

The nurse then calls out, "The Midoriya family, the doctor is now free." Inko and Hisashi get up while Izuku holds their hands and follows them to a set of double doors at the end of the office. The nurse opens the door and they walk into a hallway where a blonde, average height, male doctor with dark hazel eyes is waiting.

"Hello my name is Doctor Nishioka. What are we here for today?" the now named doctor asks.

Izuku whispers excitedly, "We're here to get my quirk tested." The doctor chuckles and leads them down the hallway, stopping at the scale to get Izuku's height and weight. He notes it down on his clipboard before leading them onward.

They arrive at the doctor's office and the doctor motions for Izuku to sit down at the examination table while saying to Hisash and Inko, "Quirks can be checked for in two ways. You could either get a person whose quirk is gathering information on another person's quirk or you could take an x-ray of the foot to see if they have the extra toe joint. If they do have an extra toe joint then they are most likely quirkless. If they don't we test for the father's and mother's quirk and if we don't get anything from that then we bring in a quirk specialist. Today we're going to be using the first option since that's what my quirk does. All I need is for you to sign this form giving me permission to use my quirk on your son." The doctor hands a sheet of paper over to Inko and Hisashi. They grab a pen off of the counter and sit down to fill out the form.

"What's your quirk mister?" asks Izuku.

The Doctor chuckles and says, "My quirk is called Understanding. It lets me pick one topic about a person every six hours or so and gain a complete understanding of that topic."

"That's so cool, but why didn't you become a hero or work for the police?"

"I have to be touching the person for my quirk to work."

Izuku responds with an , "Oh," while titling his head and having a questioning look on his face. "You could've become a police interrogator still."

The doctor thinks it over and says, "I could have but I think my true passion is to help children like you utilize their quirks in order to reach their dreams."

After the doctor finishes his statement two things happen. First, Izuku has an epiphany and doesn't ask any more questions. Second, Inko gets the doctor's attention and gives him the form. The doctor rolls over to his computer and fills out Izuku's medical history and then rolls back over to him.

"Now I'm going to use my quirk on you in order to find out yours. Do you understand and are you ready?" Izuku gives a little nod and the doctor puts his hand on Izuku's forehead while muttering, "Quirk." A minute or so later the doctor opens his eyes and pulls away from Izuku. "What a unique quirk you have my boy."

Hisashi asks, "What is his quirk Doctor Nishioka?"

"Why don't we have him show us. My boy I'm going to need you to roll up your sleeves and then think of something with scales."

"Like a lizard?" asks Izuku.

"Exactly my boy."

Izuku does exactly what he asks and glittering green scales appear across his arm. Izuku looks at his arm and gasps in ah.

"Now my boy your quirk is the ability to grow scales on your skin and then control them with your mind."

The doctor then rolls his chair over to Hisashi and Inko but Izuku isn't paying attention. He's staring down at his arm while he makes the scales appear and disappear. Then he thinks open and all the scales stand straight up in the air.

Meanwhile the doctor is telling Hisashi and Inko about Izuku's quirk. "Now his quirk is partly from his mother's side but mostly from the father's side. What is your quirk Mr. Midoriya?"

"I have a firebreathing quirk."

"Do you have anyone in your family with a lizard, dragon or even another scale quirk?"

Hisashi thinks about it and responds with, "My sister has a dragon transformation quirk and my mother has a lizard mutation quirk. I think my dad had a wing transformation quirk."

"That would explain the quirk then. He probably got the recessive genes from your mother and father leading to his scale transformation quirk. Now young Midoriya's quirk is very special. His scales are actually always on his skin. They form a puesdo-skin layer and he just hardens them with his mind but the puesdo-skin layer is only around his upper body excluding his hands and face. Now the extra skin layer is going to be prone to dry skin and flaking so I recommend you start some form of skin care. He will also need more calcium as well as generally more vitamins than a normal person. His quirk also has a couple more intricate functions so I would like to run some tests before we name it."

"As long as Izuku agrees you may run your tests." The doctor then rolls his chair back over to Izuku who is still messing around with his quirk and asks him if he can do tests. Izuku agrees almost instantly and with an excited glint in his eye.

A couple hours later

"Now young Midoriya I'm going to need you to take your shirt off and then activate your quirk." Izuku nods and takes off his All Might themed shirt. A moment later glittering green scales cover his torso and arms ending at his neck and wrists.

The doctor writes down something on his clipboard while mumbling to himself and then asks, "Can you make your scales stand up, please?" Izuku thinks open and all of his scales stand on end. The doctor mutters, "Good, good," and then says to Izuku, "I'm going to pull on one of your scales. If it hurts say so and I'll stop immediately." The doctor grabs one of Izuku's scales and slightly pulls. Immediately Izuku feels a white-hot pain and shouts, thus the doctor stops. "It seems that your scales don't detach." He rolls over to his desk and mutters to himself about the purpose of the telekinesis but Izuku only catches a few words because of the excruciating pain pulsating from the scale the doctor pulled at.

Then Izuku is brought out of his stupor by Hisashi snapping in front of his face and asking, "Are you alright my little one?"

"I'm alright dad just a little out of it."

"Are you sure?"

"I promise, I'm alright." Hisashi nods but doesn't seem completely convinced. He sits back down as the doctor rolls back over to them.

The doctor says ,"It seems that the nerve endings on the ends of the scales are extremely sensitive when in scale form to make up for not feeling pain in the scales themselves. When his scales turn back into skin the only noticeable feature are slight depressions where the end of the scales are. Oddly enough his scales don't detach so I don't see why he's able to telekinetically control them. I advise that we bring him back every two years or so to see if his quirk has developed the ability to shoot his scales off." The doctor turned to Izuku and asked, "What do you think we should call your quirk young Midoriya?"

He responds, "Telekinetic scales, maybe or we could call it Transforming Scales."

"I think Telekinetic Scales is a fitting name."

Izuku nods and puts his shirt back on. He gets up and the Midoriya family leaves the hospital.

The Next Day

Izuku loved spending time with his best friend, Bakugo Katsuki or Kacchan as Izuku called him. As soon as Izuku got home from school he begged his Mom and Dad to call the Bakugos so he could play with Kacchan. Inko chuckled to herself at the nickname and called Mitsuki and scheduled for the two to meet up at the park by their house. An hour later the two best friends meet up at the park and Izuku immediately shouted, "I got a quirk Kacchan."

"What is it?"

Izuku pulls up his sleeve and a second later his arm is covered in scales.

Bakugo walks over and pokes at them while asking, "What is it called."

"Telekinetic Scales"

"What can you do?"

"I can make my scales go away and come back. I can also make my scales open up. I might even be able to shoot them off in the future."

"So all you can do is make scales appear on your body and make them open and close," asks Bakugo with a slight sneer.

"Yep," replies Izuku with an enthusiastic voice and a bright, wide smile on his face.

Bakugo's sneer only grows wider. He grabs one of Izuku's scales and rips it off, while condescendingly saying, "You can't do shit with a quirk as weak as that! Maybe if I rip your scales off you can shoot them off sooner." Izuku then shouts in pain, clutching his bleeding arm but not before Bakugo rips off another two scales. As the parents come closer, who started rushing over at the sound of the scream, he pushes Izuku to the ground and right as the parents arrive, with the most innocent face possible he says, "Izuku fell over and three of his scales snapped off when he hit the ground."

Inko kneels right by Izuku and asks, "Is that true Izuku?"

"Y-Y-Yeah Mom. I t-t-tripped over a rock and fell over. K-K-Kacchan tried to keep me from falling but he couldn't reach me in time."

Right as Izuku says those last few words Bakugo sneers and a moment later pulls Izuku up and talks right into his ear saying, "You're gonna pay for saying I failed at something." He then releases Izuku's arm and stares him down as Izuku hobbles over to his mother and they walk home.

Inko and Izuku arrived home 20 or so minutes later and immediately went to the bathroom for the first aid kit. Inko sat Izuku down and started disinfecting and bandaging the lost scales.

While all this was happening Izuku was just staring at the three scales he was clutching in his hand, flinching whenever something brushed against the raw skin.

SNAP! "Izuku, baby, can you hear me?" Izuku looks up at his mother who has a worried expression on her face.

"I'm alright mom, just a little tired."

Inko nods and says, "We're going to have to tell your father about what happened and then call the doctor to see how long it should take for your scales to grow back."

Izuku just meekly nods and then tries to stand up and head to his room. But the moment his feet hit the floor he falls face first and is caught by Inko.

"Baby, are you ok?" Izuku nods and Inko keeps talking, "Let's get you to your room. You should try to rest. I'll wake you up when Dad gets home and we can talk with him and call the doctor." Inko leads Izuku to his room and tucks him into his bed. "Do you need anything?"

"I'm ok Mom, just tired. I'm going to go to sleep now Mo-" And Izuku falls asleep before he can finish his sentence.

Izuku is startled awake by the door of his room opening and his dad walking in. Hisashi asks, "What happened?"

Izuku answers, "I tripped over a rock and some of my scales snapped off when I hit the ground." Hisashi doesn't seem completely convinced but takes Izuku's words at face value

"Your Mom and I called the doctor a little while ago and he said that since you just got your quick it's going to take 16 hours for the scales to grow back but once you get a bit older they should grow back in 3 or 4 hours. We also picked up some mild painkillers to help with the pain. Otherwise he just said get some rest and you'll be fine."

Izuku nods and lays back down to try and fall back asleep. He doesn't succeed at that task and turns over to just stare at the ceiling. His train of thought is interrupted by Inko walking in with a bedside tray and Hisashi following close behind with a plate of food.

Inko says, "We forgot that you couldn't come out to eat so we thought that you could eat in here."

Izuku replies, "Thank you Mom. I bet the food is great." Inko chuckles as she says the tray down and then motions for Hisashi to do the same. He does and Izuku picks up his chopsticks, thanks his mom and dad for bringing him food and starts to eat.

30 minutes later Izuku calls out, "Mom I finished can you come get the dishes. A moment later Inko walks in, grabs the tray with the empty dishes on it and thanks Izuku for calling her and not trying to do it himself. It's late so Inko turns the light off as she leaves and tells Izuku to get some sleep. He does so and he lays down and falls asleep.

Eight years later

It was April and the school year had just started. Izuku was messing with one of his scales in the auditorium waiting for the introduction speech to be over. He was levitating it a couple inches above his hand and kept spinning it around with the other hand. The moment the speech ended he grabbed his backpack and ran as fast as he could to get home.

But Bakugo was faster. He caught Izuku by the handle of his bag and yanked him into his group of goons. One with a quirk to extend his fingers and the other with a quirk that gave him small wings.

Bakugo sneers and asks, "Were you trying to run away from me Deku?"

Izuku meekly replied, "I w-w-would never K-K-Kacchan. I-I-I just wanted to get home a-a-as soon as possible-e-e."

"Are you lying to me Deku?"

"N-N-No Kacchan, I would n-n-never lie to you-u-u."

"Well I don't believe you, you shitty Deku so I'm gonna make you pay for lying to me." Bakugo then motioned to his two goons and they grabbed Izuku. The one with the extending fingers quirk wrapping his arms up while the winged one held him to the wall. Bakugo then wound up and punched him in the gut over and over.

But something Izuku hoped would never happen did. His quirk activated on instinct and Bakugo was made to punch a rock hard wall of scales. This caused Bakugo to flinch back in pain but he only grew angrier.

"You stupid, dumb fucking Deku. You activated your quirk and you know what that means." Bakugo told the winged one to lift up Izuku's shirt even through all of his begging. "You better lift up your scales or it's only going to get worse for you." Even though Izuku was crying and begging he did as Bakugo said.

Bakugo reaches down and slowly rips scale after scale off all the while sneering at the sniveling mess Izuku had become. Bakugo fishes ripping scales off and there's a noticeable blank patch in Izuku's stomach. Bakugo grabs Izuku's face and says, "If you tell anyone about this you'll end up with worse than a couple missing scales."

Bakugo let's go of Izuku's face and then motions to his two lackeys to drip Izuku. They do so and all three walk off.

Izuku gathers his wits and limps off towards home
